The New DAF XF Euro 6 tease images

Greetings!

One of the trucks that you have been so anxiously anticipating is finally getting close to completion... Rest assured we are pushing hard to make sure you'll get it as soon as possible.

Trucks happen to be the most notoriously difficult type of 3D model to build and implement for our games than any other of our assets. We are always thinking about ways to speed up their delivery to you, but there was not a single case where it would take us less than half a year to implement a new truck. How can we speed this up? We are now looking into more advanced 3D scanning technologies to acquire high-detail reference data. We are also discussing internally if we should not try shipping an initial release of a truck with limited amount of cabins, chassis and upgrade variations. Would it make sense for you?

Anyway that won't be the case with The New DAF XF Euro 6 - it is coming with traditional palette of cabin, chassis selection, and other upgrade options.

Even if trucks are eating considerable amount of company human and financial resources, we still resist the temptation to ask for money for the upcoming Euro Truck Simulator 2 standard truck models and will continue bringing them to you free of charge in future updates of the game. We feel that it's fair to ask for support from time to time with additional optional elements for the game, but the core experience is improved for everybody.

Thanks for  your patience. Currently the new DAF is about ready for final testing iterations, we are targeting its release for the second half of September.

    1. I love the Volvo but the Daf is nice. I think the interior is refreshed, not new. It's very Euro 6-ish now, I like it. Might let my Volvo in my garage to take this thing for a spin.

  12. I personally agree the ideea to release a truck even if it doesn't have ALL the cabins and chasis, if you keep it free till' the end of the production (and finish it).
    Make a poll :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. imo, I think you should release them when they're done, and ready, and not before. It's not like there's a shortage of trucks already in the game. But then again, I'm not one of the people who are constantly demanding new trucks. I look forward to them. But personally I'd rather wait for a finished bug free model, than something that's half finished. I completely understand that it takes you a long time to complete them, you produce very detailed models of both inside and out.

  14. Why are we getting a new post on a totally new truck that takes forever to build???? and yet u guys had posted earlier. "http://blog.scssoft.com/2014/04/rounding-up-set.html" that you got the green light from mercedes to use their logo in ETS2 but it wasn´t implemented into the game with the latest update..what´s up with that???

Besides, if there´s any truck I´m dying to have in ETS2 is the new mercedes benz actros...so when is this going happen...well let me guess, next summer or autum of 2015...

This is just frustrating...every other truck in the game has an official logo and here are some of the few who would love to play the vanilla version of the game but unfortunately SCS wheel turn way too slow because apparently they have way too other side project of there own......

I mean seriously, how long would it take to implement a new officail logo and re visit some of the details on the other truck such as DAF and MAN that look like they have just been painted with the wiring connection for the trailer brakes that has to be connected to the back of the truck and yet the new scania streamline, Iveco Hi-way and the new FH have all those details??? but here you are having time to build a totally new truck that takes like about 6 months or more...

    I just don´t get it.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I'm guessing the reason for no logo on the current Actros is down to licensing agreements with Mercedes. As you know they've been difficult with them for this amount of time, so the likely hood the license comes with a lot of strings attached is high Essentially they probably can't use it until they add the new model.

As for revisiting old trucks, I couldn't agree more. There's a huge difference in quality between these new trucks and some of the old ones. In fact some such as the original XF likely came from older games. It would be nice to see them improved, but there resources are limited, and they've chosen to make entirely new models instead, which most users are quite happy with..

      Delete
    2. They haven't released the new Mercedes yet, so it won't be in the game.
If you actually read what they said, it takes up to a year to implement a new truck and it takes a lot of time, resources and effort to add a truck.

They didn't get a license to use the logo, they get a license to add their truck officially into the game. They have to model their truck and have that signed off by Mercedes before any logo officially gets into the game.

      Delete
    3. Sure, they need to set it in the game now to make people like you happy. If you find a million bugs, it's not our fault, it's not SCS's fault, it's yours. You wanted a speedy built truck, you get the consequences. It's that simple.

SCS doesn't have a license of Mercedes, so making the new trucks of them can be hard.

You know what I don't get? People like you. All you need to do is get some patience and the game might be to your favor one day. You mentioned Autumn 2015? Might take that long. Or do you want a bug-filled game?

  15. So beautiful! LOVE IT! Awesome work guys, really hope we can get this quality on every truck in the future, then I'd...I...I'd have nothing to say haha :D Love you guys, and your work! I cant put my finger on it, but for some reason even with its abit odd looking interior I love the DAF's the most, I just dont know why... its not the most exciting, mean looking, or anything...still I love them. Scanias looks the best, but they are so common and everyone and their mother drives one in game and IRL... they are everywhere, DAF's atleast here in Sweden is abit more rare, I know in the rest of Europe they are huge tho. Think they got a good middle ground between the old Volvo and a Scania, not too simple and not too brash and look at me kind of style either... just...dare I say perfect? no, thats not it either, its just...fits me I guess :) that said, I love all trucks, I'm not one to be crazy fanboy, anything with wheels and I'll probably enjoy it! :)

  17. Great news !!!
And what a peasant surprise that there's not a 'FIRST-asshole' in the beginning.
I would also be satisfied with initial released trucks if we can have them for free. But I also would embrace the idea if you decide to make a paid Truck DLC's though. I know some will hate me for that but I also know that very few things in life are free, and most of the time they are free for a reason. So If you think you think of doing paid high quality branded trucks models for ETS 2, I believe I'm not gonna ne the only one that whould buy it. Cheers guys and keep up the good work !

  18. Great, so the new DAF truck is finally coming. Which means the "When's the new DAF truck coming" whiners can now put more energy into whining about "When will American Truck Simulator be released."

  19. Not really excited by this DAF. No much changes compared by the other one. I feel like waiting for nothing, kind of. But I clearly appreciate the work, updating the game, adding content. Thank you very much for that.

  27. Oh dear SCS, are you SURE you want to make money? (-_-)

Sometimes I think that you guys like to shoot themselves in the foot.

You people release for free trucks which take you a huge amount of work to make, and for which I'd be willing to pay quite a few dollars... Yet, you sell paint jobs that I have practically no interest in for money. (There are people like me who don't even use free mod paint jobs or make my own.)

Worse, the metallic paint thing was also the only paint-related thing I'd have paid for, and it was also the only free one...

My money isn't that smelly you know!!! (-_-)

Still, I can sort of see why you guys would do that. Game companies are criticized all the time for leaving major components of a game out of the base game to squeeze money out of customers. (Train Simulator 2014 immediately comes to mind.) But still, if you don't make money in a better way, and we lose the only game company that makes a heavy-vehicle non-racing game of this high calibre, we will all lose out...

I wonder if anyone thinks the same as I do...

Anyway, thanks for the new XF!

    ReplyDelete

    1. Agree, but maybe they are millionaires and they do not need money, hehe!! I do not know their business strategy plan, but I hope in an increase of the SCS team number/company. That would mean: more money-more people-more developments/improvements-LESS TIME TO GET STUFF (this, for customers)-(maybe :D ).
But, SCS, please, take some money! I want to give you some money, damn it!! Just give me some good stuff, DLCs,etc.(please, not paintjobs!!! :D). And, please, add a second point of articulation, I want to simulate what I was driving in real life (18.75mt), I do not like semi boring trailers!

      Delete
    2. I totally agree with you. I would be happy to pay for extras in the game.
But I think that the balance between having way too much good and free stuff in the base game, and having to pay for too much things to have a decent game is very delicate, considering that the game become as popular as it is namely because it is relatively cheap and you get all the goodies out from the box, not to mention the countless free mods out there.
If they suddenly change the strategy of making it $-oriented, lots of people may stop playing it. Let's be a realist, how many people play strategy games of first person shooters, and how many are playing truck simulators? I personally never had played and I'm absolutely not interested on anything else than simulator games, but unfortunately the BIG majority is on the other side of the scale. That's why I think SCS don't dare to ask too much but rather ask for little more, to be more affordable for the majority of the players that actually paid for their game without loosing them by offering cheap DLC from time to time from whom they can make some income to maintain the game fresh. Even it is 2 years old now, I don't consider it as an 'old' game.
The game has a lot of potential still, and would be more than happy to support SCS if they want to sell me something that I will enjoy, since that is the only game I play.

      Delete
    3. The reason is complicated, so let's make it simple.

The only people who are interested in €5 paintjobs are people who have the game. They have paid €30 for it already. That's €35 per game already.
But let's say, we get all of the Standard, "German Truck Simulator" Euro 5 trucks in the retail game, and make all Euro 6 trucks (Iveco Hi-Way, Volvo FH16, Daf XF106) DLC for let's say €5 per truck, people are not interested in buying the game for €30. You lose money this way.
If you make "needless" content DLC (which is the current situation), they still get money because there are always people interested. If you make a standard game knowing you can get 50% more out of it, and for sophisticated reasons people are allowed to buy games but not DLC(?), a game which has a release cost with only small DLCs is more interesting to buy.

      Delete
    4. Well, if you feel like helping SCS out with money, you can always donate, I guess? Get in contact with them through the proper means (got o their official site to find more about that) and talk to them about it. I'm sure it will be welcome.

      Delete
    5. This way, the game (without paid DLCs) would become obsolete after few years so it would be problem to get new players into the community. So if the want to keep the game alive in long term, I can see why they don't ask for money for the truck models.

But that said, considering how much effort making the truck is, SCS might consider some idea of "early adopters program". E.g. initially release new truck model for some price, maybe even packed with some paint DLC to be more attractive. It could be even scaled:
      -- 1st month: 15 euro + 3 paint DLCs
      -- 2nd month: 10 euro + 2 paint DLC
      -- 3rd month: 5 euro + 1 paint DLC
-- after 3 months: free update for everybody (and no paint DLC).

And after two or three months, making the truck free for everybody (w/o the paint DLC).

but the biggest thing i like to see to change is better traffic on highways.
it is stupidd that i can drive at 17.00 hours flat out 160 whit a truck without having problems whit traffic.

it need to be more alot more,

it is how stupid to say boring on the highway, because we don't need to overtake orther traffic, or we have the room to go 140 through traffic whit out problems

no i can drive in europ whit my car hours and hours whitout any problems. but in game.... please a option to set the amount of traffic on highway.

also more interactive is to have accidents and working on the road. on strange places. and not always but sometimes. so the road change every time
