Today we would like to discuss another feature that should be included in Euro Truck Simulator 2 update 1.17, appearing along with the release of Scandinavia expansion.
We have been receiving a lot of feedback from the players that truck wheels customization in the game is too limiting, as truck rims and tyres are essentially baked together now in game data. In the Real World out there, the truck owner is of course free to choose any rim and match it with any compatible tyre type.
We are happy to report that at last we have separated the rubber part and the metal part into two separate pieces - tyres and rims. This should provide way more flexibility in tuning the trucks both with stock game content as well us with mods (existing mods should not be badly broken on 1.17 release, but mod authors will want to revisit their creations and reorganize their wheel mods to take advantage of the extra degree of freedom).
Another good reason for us to focus on the wheels now is that we keep trying to establish a working dialogue with tyre manufacturers. How great would it be to introduce real tyres from the likes of Michelin, Continental, Goodyear, or Bridgestone into the game simulation, including not just the looks but also actual technical data and physical properties!
We do not think the changes should stop at cosmetics alone, we are sure that gameplay would only benefit if different tyres would have different properties, and it would be up to the player to choose the correct tyre for a given situation. So for future evolution beyond the 1.17 update, we plan to get inspiration from real world tyre labelling when expanding the simulation properties. We think of adapting the officially existing tyre grading system for our needs...

April Scherz oder ernst gemeint? Wäre natürlich ein geiles features. Mfg Tom
Translate with Google to english:
I think this is serious.
Since I had before this go on for ETS2 see my topic here in the SCS forum: http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=172518
Only I failed because that had not seen the slot points in the Truck Shop, :(
Ja echt mal
DeleteNoice!!!
ReplyDeleteКруто! Наконец-то можно будет менять диски и шины по отдельности. А то надоело искать моды, чтобы и диски и шины совпадали с моими предпочтениями.
ReplyDeleteI don't like my truck to look like a Forumla 1 car, regarding the white inscriptions on tyres.
ReplyDeleteBranding for companies, trailers, gas stations would also be great if possible :-)
We still don't have three axels on Renault Trucks and neither optional sideskirts for Iveco HiWay...
i ja tak robim
DeleteGreat ! thanks ,SCS ~
ReplyDeleteApril fools etc.?:P
ReplyDeleteAs ETS2 voluntary translator, I can tell you this is no joke ;)
DeleteThis, or either the strings about front and rear tyres and rims are for some other purpose ...
This comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteObv not, at least in concept. They already said about it in post about Blender Tools.
Delete1.april :) !!!
ReplyDeleteVery good news, SCS! Keep pushing the realism of the ETS2 further.
ReplyDeleteHehe good job
ReplyDeleteHave fun you deserve it
Who care about tires ... the real gamer of ETS2 wont to see more new roads, new cargo area, MORE STRATEGY elements in company managing ... so many important things still to be created, you decide to make new tires
ReplyDelete:(
But they're releasing the Scandinavia expansion at the same time with new countries, roads, vehicles, cargo, scenery, mechanics, etc.
DeleteI don't think it's a stretch to say ETS2 players like the simulation aspect, and improving the realism with tyre simulation is anything but relevant to the audience.
Yes Scandinavian pack will come soon , but where is tricky parking places from Scania Truck Simulator , I expect to find some of them here in ETS2 .... when we can see more and new roads signs? Its hard work , to improve game like this one ,but most players needs more and more new things to play game happy... I`ll be happy if I can drive whit my other drivers in my company side by side and see my other trucks on different parking in all Europe ...for this moment its a only dram!
DeleteMaybe YOU want this but a lot of other people liketo have the added degree of realism in the game. For me and many other players, this will be an amzing addition as customising the truck is a big part of the game for us.
Delete"Who care about tires"
DeleteI CARE ABOUT TYRES, IF YOU DONT CARE ABOUT TYRES EITHER DONT UPDATE OR IGNORE IT
wonderful , congratulations great job , but it would be very interesting , because you want to search every day more realism, think of the behavior of the weights of the cargoes carried in the semi trailers , generating greater difficulty for the transport of such loads, it is clear that the transport of fluids, fuel, and loads dimensioned require mator care during transport, to place the load to the front , middle or back of the semi trailer are physical elements which can even enrriquecer much the simulated experience of driving a truck 18 wheels, and why not have the option of feeling each day closer to being a professional transport of heavy loads .
ReplyDeleteThanks very good job.

ReplyDeleteI've been asking for original wheels for ages.
ReplyDelete'So for future evolution beyond the 1.17 update' I find that this very good ,because it means that SCS are not going to forget ETS2 while they continue to make ATS .

ReplyDeleteAFAIK there are seperate teams dedicated to ETS2 and ATS, so no worries there.
DeleteThats good :-)
DeleteThats good :-)
DeleteNow STFU and release Scandinavia , this wheel stuff can wait;

DeleteIt is, the update is coming after theDLC
DeleteGood news! I wish for ability to paint rim bells in custom color)
ReplyDeleteExcellent. I love that you guys keep adding new features. Keep it up and I will gladly give you my money.
ReplyDeleteFinally better physics, thanks SCS! Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteme gusta, thx scs
ReplyDeleteCould you maybe please bring out sideskirts for 6x2/6x4 chassis on all trucks as well as the optional spoilers on truck cabs, e.g on Scania's where the Streamline normal cab is without and the highline and topline cabs are only available with, yet in reality spoilers are an optional extra on ALL cabs. I honestly can't understand why this sort of thing hasn't been corrected before.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Skirts are basically standard on trucks now (since they improve aerodynamics) unless you buy the really base models.
DeleteBut there are tons of things that lack detail where SCS seems to've just ignored that go about things half-assed. Putting "simulator" in the name is a commitment to detail they've yet to achieve.
Why all this tires went we don't gave real brakes system on that trucks
ReplyDeleteand what about multiselection for truck and drivers? for example for multi sell and buy truck and for modification on more than one truck? now is boring sell truck by truck ... better will be to buy truck for every driver without truck ;-)
ReplyDeletethat's a great idea, but you guys need to add more different rims... it's too limited
ReplyDeleteI requested that feature 2 months ago on the official forum, you can't imagine how happy I am right now :D
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteGreat job SCS! Its nice to see more customisation options on the trucks. Regarding Tanker loads though, it would be great if they simulated the unstable weight distribution of the liquid inside of them, like for example when the truck is braking/coming to a stop, the liquid slushes about between the Front and Back creating a push & drag effect, when the tanker isn't full on the whole vehicle! I'm sure you will try to incorporate this feature one day when you can ;)!
ReplyDeleteMaybe talk to Trailer maker Schimtz about using their brand name on the trailers too perhaps!
ReplyDeleteguys, pls make it a bit lower , dont screw it like daf e6...
ReplyDeleteWhat is max. engine horse power in new Actros Mp4 ?
ReplyDeleteLooking at Mercedes website 625hp @460kw/ 3000nm torque http://www2.mercedes-benz.co.uk/content/unitedkingdom/mpc/mpc_unitedkingdom_website/en/home_mpc/truck/home/new_trucks/model_range/new_actros/New_Actros/facts/configurator.html
DeleteYey, Flat Tyres are coming
ReplyDeleteIncrível, simplesmente isso!
ReplyDeleteI would to prefer my wheels/tyres by set rather than each axle.
ReplyDeleteFinally! Great update indeed but what I am really looking for is an update to the Navigation. What would be really cool is to have voice guidance on it. Like "in 1 km turn left" and stuff like this. :l
ReplyDeleteThe "ranging" system isn't very good in ETS2. If you look at the countdown markers at highway and the trip meter on your truck, you will notice they run differently (100 meter trip is 1km on the map) also since the game time isn't 1 sec/1 sec of IRL. So I think it would be... hard to do.
DeleteGreat news !! :-) ....but still no signs of Renault T Range and DAF Euro 6 in ai..next DLC Iberia please!!
ReplyDeleteI realy hope for a "mediterranean" DLC, with Spain, Portugal and the rest of France and Italy.
DeleteGreat news! You should not forget to make the rear of the trucks more customizable( tailights, bumpers, mudflaps), make the sideskirts for the 3 axle trucks and we need more scandinavian accessories 😉
ReplyDeletenice work
ReplyDeletedry and wet tires this is not nascar or furmula 1 race game you gave to focus on better tings like tires blowing up more realistic brakes and realistic jake brake----->jake brake on/of botton on release gas then jake brake will work more simulation
ReplyDeleteEven as a truck driver you need to make sure your tyres have good wet grip. Imagine what would happen if you have twenty tonnes on the back and you slid out of control on a wet day. Very unsafe and you could killl many people. This adds another element of realism and makes the physics alot better
Deletegreat news...but how difficult is to get official licence of original brands of big tyres company??
ReplyDeleteIt's a very complicated and weird world. Sometimes they would want too much money, or want to keep control over their brand. Some may even be tied into an exclusive licencing deal with other games companies (for racing games, etc), but that last bit is speculation.
DeleteSame sort of reasons it's taken so long to get Mercedes in the game.
Would be better if there was LED beacons! Please?
ReplyDeleteI think that when you buy something you should keep it forever (I mean accessories for the trucks), so you only buy things once. But of course you should have to pay an installation fee. So say you bought a 500bhp engine, when you upgrade to a 600bhp engine, the 500bhp one should be stored in your garage and you should be able to fit it at anytime by paying only labour fees. The only downside is working around the factor of having multiple garages, but you guys are so amazing that I'm sure you would be able to work something out.
ReplyDeleteWhat would be the point? The engine is useless without the truck's computer. In the real world you don't engine swap freight trucks. If you need a more powerful truck you buy a new truck.
DeleteI want slicks! Like in F1! x'D
ReplyDeleteEstá cada vez melhor.Grande trabalho !
ReplyDeleteGood job! And add tire wear feature please :)
ReplyDelete''we are sure that gameplay would only benefit if different tyres would have different properties, and it would be up to the player to choose the correct tyre FOR A GIVEN SITUATION''
ReplyDelete---Great initiative, if possible, though ingame there are just 2 situations: shiny wheater and rain.
But please front of all, rework the animation for the spinning wheels (tyres+rims), it is really awfull.
april fools only applies in the US scs is located in Czech Republic
ReplyDeleteNot entirely true, also In Europe people knows about 1st of April fools, at least where I live...
DeleteIn europe we have 1st of April to.. It comes from Europe!
DeleteIn the UK there is no April 1st, and calendars just go right to April 2nd. We do have a 30th of February to compensate though.
DeleteYou can design a diet mode allows drivers to eat? XD
ReplyDeleteI do not understand the EU tyre labelling. Any help?
ReplyDeleteplease give roadside services fuel brand name , they look like they are closed .
ReplyDeletewhy doesn't the rain Sensor?if we see it in the Windows of some of the trucks and it should work
ReplyDeletesorry my english!its only yandex translate
ReplyDeleteSeparating the wheels and tyres is a good move. It will give us better control while customizing.
ReplyDeletegud job , but we should get this as quick as possible
ReplyDeleteand then
what else will be updated in 1.17 version
They will do a big post of all the content before the update comes out
Deletevery nice, would like to see studded snows also
ReplyDeleteI'm new to the game. I'm enjoying it very much. However I'm a bit confused about mods and updates. According to my system I have version 1.5.2, yet mods or even this blog talk about version 1.15, 1.17 etc. I'm not sure what will work with my version of the game. Any help please!
ReplyDeleteUpdate through eurotruck 2 website or through steam
DeleteNot really much
DeleteWill be snow in Scandinavia DLC?
ReplyDeleteВещь хорошая и нужная но пока одни обещания....
ReplyDeleteWhen will the update be released
ReplyDeleteHow about making it so we can buy our own trailers to make it more like a trucking company?
ReplyDeleteamazing job!...keep going...
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hl8ZKmJc6M8
ReplyDeleteIt's good, but i'm waiting a really important update. We'll want to see, how to connect the trailer and the tractor, need to modellize the trailer cables. It's a simulator game, and i think not just driving simulator, create a real european trucker lifestyle simulator. Open the trailer sheets, really connect the tractor and trailer, not just putting the T button, and need a real tachometer addon. Open the doors, the boxes, the frigidaire, etc...
ReplyDeleteBut i say, thanks guys to invented lot of working hours in this game! :)
This comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteAll these require too much animation and users with low graphics cards and cpu will not be able to play the game.
DeleteMore slots in dealers
ReplyDeleteWhen is this update coming out?
ReplyDeleteIf you read the blog post above it says
Delete"Today we would like to discuss another feature that should be included in Euro Truck Simulator 2 update 1.17, appearing along with the release of Scandinavia expansion."
can the tires blow up in 1.17 ?
ReplyDeleteThat's fantastic !!! I am gonna keep financially support this sim cause you guys totally deserve it !!!
ReplyDeleteSo next step will be a more realistic wheel damage and explosion ? =)
ReplyDeletehave to have more varieties. For people to have more different things
ReplyDeleteNice feature! In the future it 'll be very nice see difference between tires in performance and how it affects the truck. Add some off road option, it would be great.
ReplyDeleteDAMAGE PHYSICS GUYS!!!! COME ON ALREADY!!!! PEOPLE ARE WANTING FOR THAT FEATURE FOR AGES NOW...... PLS IMPLEMENT THAT.... nontheless...... greate and nice job guys.... keep the trucking realism going :D
ReplyDeleteGuys..!! the date of "Scandinavia DLC" release is on 7th May.!!
ReplyDeleteWatch this Teaser released by SCS..!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hl8ZKmJc6M8
Dear SCS, please add the possibility of double trailers. Thanks)
ReplyDeleteDifferent types of tires are meaningful only in the case of seasons - snow, frost, etc. If you do not plan to do the seasons, it makes no sense. At this time the tires are very similar to each other parameters. Speech, of course branded manufacturers. So if there is no winter, spring, summer autumn it makes no sense to do that. There are a lot of other interesting projects. I know that for you it is important, because that too will be able to earn - the license.
ReplyDeleteyou are right
DeleteYou are totally right here. However, from my point of view, at the present state, game engine simply can`t be used to simulate realistic season changes. So i think SCS may try and go another way. They can: a) create situation, when you will need different grip levels from tyres for specific cargoes - ADR, heavy machinery etc; b) add a new road surface types or increase dependability between the max speed of truck and grip level of selected tyres. So you will need to know the route well and choose tyres accordingly to the percentage of specific surface on your way. Like in rally: lets just say you have 100 km way. 40 percent of it is mud (old country road) and 60 is tarmac (highway). You will need to decide what is more important to you - go fast for 60 percent of time, driving (maybe on cruise control) straight section of path on highway, or maybe going slightly slower on highway, but win some time on harder part of your path - old muddy twisted road; and c) at first time SCS simply add different gpip and durability levels for various tyres.
DeleteI thought about it too. For example, for very heavy loads would be necessary to change the tires more durable. Otherwise it is impossible to carry such loads. In addition, in order to destroy them would be impossible to exceed the speed limit, eg. 60 km / h. Only in such cases, would sense a change of tires.
DeleteThese improvements, along with Mercedes MP4 will be added to the patch 1.17?
ReplyDeleteAnd when he comes patch 1.17?
DeleteThe Mercedes will come just after the release of Scandinavia, according to the previous blog post, and since the DLC is coming out on the 7th May, I'm guessing the patch will be available as a beta on Steam pretty soon
DeleteAham .. But you should not buy DLC Scandinavia to have Mercedes?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI have found interesting sentence on steam, when I clicked on Scandinavia DLC: "If you are interested in trying the 1.17 beta, read the announcements section in the next few days."
ReplyDeleteHow to download ?

ReplyDeleteHow about instead of adding new stuff fix the current major problems with the game! The new DAF Euro6 is a great truck! But it is absolutely un-drivable because apparently you never tested the truck before you put it out! But it handles awful! If the real DAF Euro6 handles like it does in the game, Then it should not only be recalled, But all of them should be immediately taken off the road. I have no idea how you could let a bug this bad go without even a word about fixing it! But the new DAF handles like it has duck tape for tie rod ends! Seriously the truck is all over the road! It is horrible!
ReplyDeleteAre you sure, it handles fine with me
DeleteIn-game DAF Euro6 driver here, nothing wrong with it; handles perfectly fine.
DeleteAnd when we will be able to tune the truck and the rear chast.Da add an optional taillights, large mud flaps and other decorations? Without put additional mods.

ReplyDeleteaktivation key
ReplyDeleteTruck modification options are not displayed properly
ReplyDeletesome trucks have xenon lights and cone of light is not same as real xenons and not bright enough, they must be automatically adjust height all the time while driving on uphill and downhill like in real xenons.Sunstrip's lights won't light up anything so they don't really work. i hope you fix both problems.
ReplyDeleteagain you change the rules in the middle of the actionb, typical for amateurs like you! When are you going to make 3D cables for DAF XF ???
ReplyDeleteMore simulation i love it! makes one have to think about what regions you truck in, maybe one day we will have tire flats or blowouts.
ReplyDeleteWell im hoping i can sort out the taglift wheels to match a 6/2 taglift and not look like a 6/4, should have the same rim as 6/2midlift > http://www.jge.co/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/640x640/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/p/1/p1120266.jpg
ReplyDeleteIt would be great if you could make it possible for 6x2 renault trucks. Also I would love if you could have each gearbox for each truck different e.g not all gearboxes select at 1,500rpm
ReplyDeletei like the wheel mod
ReplyDelete
