Scandinavia DLC early videos

Recent weeks have been awfully busy at our office while we apply final touches to the content of Scandinavia DLC as the release date draws closer and closer. At the same time, our team has been working round the clock to put together the public beta of the upcoming 1.17 update.

We have to apologize for being over-optimistic about the timeframe of the open beta release - we expected to have it out already as of last week, but we ended up needing more time. Important optimizations in the rendering code have been taken more time, sorry about raising your hopes too early. We definitely want to make a good impression even with this first beta (and there may be more), so having the performance closer to what we expect to ship with eventually is really important.

Meanwhile, we have lifted the embargo imposed on our inner-circle closed-beta testing group, the guys and girls helping us to comb Scandinavia for bugs, and they have started producing some really amazing videos! Perhaps they can shorten the wait a little for those anticipating the release of DLC Scandinavia.

Below you can see a short teaser trailer created by Adam, one of our trusted community testers. His short video showcases the environments nicely with the use of scenic camera...

The second video is a gameplay clip from Squirrel - one of the community's favorite YouTubers and streamers - taking you on a short delivery across beautiful Swedish landscape, visiting the Scania factory:

  1. With the release of the Mercedes license, could improve the Majestic and turn it into Axor?

    1. The Majestic Across is the Actros MP3... Axor is a bigger Atego and not used for long distances in Europe.

    5. the axor could still be used in the game considering it has 2 cab sizes. the bigger cab CAN be used for long distances so I don't see why it shouldn't be suggested to the game

  4. For a quality result, we should not regret the time. Given the very significant changes that we see in the new addition, the optimization of the game was of great importance. Good luck SCS!

  7. This DLC is totally awesome and I am really looking forward to play it ! Also waiting impatiently for new beta patch, just one question ...

Squirrel - community favourite ? Excuse me, Squirrel is just another stupid YouTuber knowing absolutely nothing about trucks and trucking in real life generaly, manipulating with little kiddies with same "knowledge" like him, I used to seldom watch his videos in past, but I cant believe I ever did that, I cant even listen to it now, his stupid childish talk and his whole point of view, which is totally WRONG, I cant ... At least, thanks Morello for great trailer !

  10. I think it's a good idea to put the game different speed windshield wipers, as slow (default game speed), fast (faster than the default) and Timed (has the default speed, it goes up and down once and have a break, then repeat). I think the game would be more realistic. I think that would be really cool, but it seems it would be necessary to make some changes in climate and rainfall, finally, I think a great idea.
Thanks a lot here in Brazil,
    Thank SCS Software.

  26. SCS, don't listen to the whiners, your team is doing a fantastic job! A great product takes time. I have been playing your games since 'Hard Truck : 18 Wheels of Steel', your team has come a long way. So from me a big thank you to your team, Squirrel, Adam, and all the other folks I don't know that have made this possible. Best of luck to you all.

  27. The way SCS is still supporting and improving this 2,5 year old game and being involved with it's community is so rare these days. They may be a small company but they are a prime example for the big boys of how it should be done. Look at the Steam reviews; overwhelmingly positive. That's not only because of the game but also for the company behind it. SCS is doing a damn fine job! Be pasionate about your game and your fans and not about the money. Fuck all the haters and impatient kids.

    1. ^ I'm glad too see another grateful person, seems like everyone is out to bite the hand that feeds them! I just hope they know that there is still folks like us that respect what they do.

  28. Honestly one thing lacking when it comes to truck simulators: competition. Competition always causes more rapid development of the field. Despite the fact that the work of the SCS also admire very much regret that no other company has taken to create a professional truck simulator.

    1. Totally agree. Some big companies like EA or Ubisoft for example should create their own truck simulator with huuuge budget, so SCS could feel their presence, and start to "worry" about losing players.

    2. The principle of what you say is absolutely true. It comes to fruition when the one in a monopoly position is taking full and unfair advantage and need to be brought to heal. In the case of ETS2, where any monopoly appears to be being carefully handled and with SCS clearly working to build upon and enhance their customers experiences ... I read your comment and reply with some amusement. It reads that you are upset and unhappy with SCS and their approach and they need even more challenge. Are you not suggesting to cut off the hand that feeds you ?

  29. The 'fantastic' look is a little bit hazy by too much distant fogging. Looks like we will have now 100 fog every and all day in ETS2. Bit overdoing, aren't we?

Also, will the DLC be released in a reasonable way or only on Steam?

  30. Omg a video of a scania fanguy, yes not fanboy a fanguy..... SCS please dont spend you time in getting realistic tire brands like mr SCANIAforeeeeeeeeeeeeeeever because its the best truck!!! (He has never driven one but that doesnt matter...
Who cares if he has corntynental tires or continetal or vredestein on fredsten or hankook or hancheng tires.....

  31. Great looking stuff, gg guys.
    Awaiting release day

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thats totally fine with me SCS! I'd much rather wait until May 7th anyway because the build will be more stable than it might be now and it won't be all that long to wait!

I like the newer types of Highway Intersections in the Scandinavia DLC with the bigger roundabouts (will make a truck pulling Forklifts etc easier to negotiate without clipping other traffic!) It would be great to have some Overhead Roundabouts too! Here in the UK we have them and they're sometimes Oblong shaped with Traffic Lights and have multiple Lanes (of course you wouldn't expect those though in Mainlend Europe) as the system is different there! This game keeps on getting better and better...keep it up!

  33. You've shot yourself in the foot SCS, GTA V came out yesterday, if you think I'm going to abandon that in 3 weeks time to play Scandinavia, you can think again.
I might get bored with it by August, which will be around the time hopefully that American Truck Sim gets released, so, I'll buy that instead, not a very wise business decision SCS, especially, with the loss of lots of sales for Scandinavian Add-on, it serves you right.
