The Actros was one of the first 3D truck models that we have started working on when we commenced the Euro Truck Simulator 2 project. Time is flying a bit too fast for us, the New Actros was launched meanwhile to replace the MP3, but this model would definitely make a great addition to the ETS2 truck fleet.
We have been involved in licensing talks with Daimler ever since we have met their representatives at IAA Hannover over a year ago. Honestly this is one of the tougher nuts to crack, and the next few weeks will be decisive. It would be a pity to have to pretend in our game that such a prominent brand doesn't exist, when the game will be proudly showing so many other real European truck brands. Perhaps if we can attract a lot of views of this new YouTube movie we will have another important argument to use in our licensing discussion. Our ambition hasn't be fully satisfied just with the MP3 model ;-).

ReplyDeleteseems that you fixed interior camera rotation, great job.. In previous video of Scania's sound recording, I saw you recording many trailers sounds. Make the attaching trailer more realistic with attaching cables to trailer, lowering it, moving 5th wheel... Also modify the rain on windscreen efect to make it even more blury, so you HAVE to turn on the wipers, not so hard to make.

Did I see correctly in the video that there's multiple speeds for the wipers, and we have more control over what lights are lit on the truck? Details like that are what makes a simulator a simulator! I beg you guys at SCS please have full and proper support for the Logitech G25 and Fanatec CSR Elite. I've played your other truck games and the Forcefeedback in my G25 is extremely weak and the controls are all over the place.

Amazing Job guys, really impresive as usually. My favorite, Magnum sure, but love how truck customization is looking there. Hope as all of us has said to have fixed some steering sensitivity problems with previous games with G25 wheel (for example). I know it will be fixed and perfectly re-worked, as all in this game is going to be.

Nice, I saw a glimps of the driving position change in the customisation section. Will we be able to choose which side we want when we buy a new truck or will this bedefault as which country the dealer is in. I.e buying in fance and your on the left side, buy in uk and your on the right?

ReplyDeleteThe Actros was really good, the graph is without doubt one of the best, to even compare the games companies large and famous, with SCS. One thing you could put in a game that fazeria put a big difference is The New Mercedes-Benz Actros. I know many of you fans would like to put the world's most sophisticated machine. Well we have been waiting almost a year and a half to wait another couple of three weeks. But with this Actros MP3, is already a good size, but if you can put the truck. The game is relatively good.

Things look coool! BUT PLEASE, the wiper animation is out of realism borders... :/ They run up too fast and almost instantly, just doesnt feel right.It should be more smooth, more feeling like its wiping through the glass.They feel like flying up and down itself :(

- a real tachygraph (driving, working (load, unload,paper...), waiting and resting ; which folows the european legislation.
- countries specification (speed limits, driving forbiden days, holydays (with the jam), equipment in the truck like chain or straps..., and administration ( CMR, licence... TIR, tolls)
- the possibility to have half or partial load which can be completed on the way (depending of the type of trailer), deliver the gas station with tanker...
-mission like delivery of gas station for 2 days, or make turn return for a construction...
- hoping for the development of non semi trailer trucks later on.
They are exemples, which can be great on a game like this one.

ReplyDeleteThe game looks fantastic, but I have some ideas that, in my opinion, will make the game even better. Just hear me out.
ReplyDelete1. Separate button for high/low beam. You could press L to switch the lights on and K for high beam and when you press K again the lights remain on and only if you press L again the lights turn off.
2. Separate button for fast/slow windscreen wipers.
3. Some trailers have flaps under taillights, which should move according to the trucks braking or accelerating. Pic: http://i489.photobucket.com/albums/rr255/Aditzu/147.jpg
4. Cables that connect the truck with the trailer.
5. Adaptive cruise control. The truck should have some kind of system, like the mirror system to let you choose a desired speed. For example, you reach 85 km/h press C for cruise control and the truck would travel at that speed. But let's say you want to accelerate to 89 km/h and instead of accelerating again and try to reach that speed you press C and up arrow key that will increment the truck speed by let's say 1 km/h until you reach your desired speed.
6. When driving with the mouse, the game should let you control the truck with W,A,S,D as well because the mouse driving system is a little buggy and sometimes you crash because the game wouldn't respond to the mouse moving. Please, both W,A,S,D buttons and mouse at the same time.
7. Interior buttons should only light up if you turn the lights up.
8. For some low-end computer users, there should be a system which allows which mirror to display. For example, maybe someone thinks they don't need the frontal mirror and if they want to turn it off so the game won't lag, they would have this possibility, just like turning interior mirrors off in GTS.
9. People get bored driving on highways. Why not have more national roads, with only one lane for each direction? Plus the scenery is much more beautiful when driving through the country side.
10. You showed us a video with custom name plates. Why not custom license plates?
11. You showed us the different license plates from each country. The trucks and trailers should have this system too, because if I drive a flatbed trailer with ELKR2006 license plate, there would be no way I could find in traffic the same license plate.
12. Could you implement BDF's?
13. When getting off a secondary road and enter a main road, the AI should be aware the fact you need to take wider turns. Pic:

When you have enough money to build your own company and hire drivers and buy trucks for them, it would be nice if you could encounter them on the road, just like in 18WoS AA and not only one, but 2 or 3 or how many of them they are. Would be nice to see my truck drivers that I hired for my company in action, so please, consider this suggestion.

DeleteErr... I've thought about this idea before, unfortunately, it's not as simple as this, because you need something to replace the self-centring steering mechanism. Otherwise it would take forever to realign the steering to the centre because of the fact that you do not press keys for a set amount of time.
I learnt this while playing http://www.playcarparkinggames.com/18wheeler2.html on the internet. It maybe a bit crude but it gives a perfect example of why you need to have something to replace the self-centering mechanism with something else.

I personally think it would be interesting to listen to a bit of radio similar (but not exact) to this, like a bit of music, a host talking in-between or beginning of songs, or some general chat stations... idk it would be interesting to hear a bit of music from the radio as you drive along. It entirely depends on SCS's decision.
Although it would be nice, I think it's impossible for small company as SCS to let produce really good quality "radio stations" with good hosts, in different genres (just one station would hardly satisfy 20% of players), licensing songs etc etc... And in what language it should be? English? German? French? I'm sure that ETS2 will be mostly selled in german speaking countries, but that doesn't mean it'll be not selled in other countries. So in fact to produce radios for ETS2 could take much more money and time than produce radios for GTA.

There's no way with hours in real time, becouse a trucker work time is 9 hours (4;30 0;45 4;30) and 9 or 11 hours pause, what if your time stops in 19:00 and have to begin at 08:00 in the morning.. how're you gonna play if you have school >.> It's stupid idea..

Well, If you put it in real time, you also need real miles. If the miles were real, the map would be too large and scs would probably be developing the game for another 3 years. The time should be consistent with the mph, because if you drive 60 mph in real life, that's the same as going one mile per minute. If the time in the game was changed to real hours, the map would need to be converted to real miles, or 60 mph, wouldn't actually be 60 mph in game. Sorry if this is hard to understand, but it's hard to explain.

25. On B and C class the interior has not the same height as A class interior, so please fix this. Also the interior height is not the same.

Deletehave you ever considered making the trucks dirty? Like after driving them for a while, they get dirty and you can have them washed at a truck stop?
ReplyDeletethis is a great idea but i dont think that they will make the trucks dirty because its a little bit dificult !! :(
Deletetrue, but farming simulator has some mods that are washable (after they get dirty). Also, will there be a chance of seeing any slick (icy or snowy) roads in the game? That always adds fun to a game, especially if you have to deliver through any high mountains with windy, snow covered roads!

ReplyDeleteSound isn't enough, I advise that they put the option of putting in an extra clutch option for steering wheels that support it and keyboards.
DeleteSo when the revs go up, you press a button on your keyboard/controller and the clutch disengages, you shift gears and release the clutch and continue accelerating.
Sounds are all right but controlling it yourself rather then an automatic clutch is even better.

ReplyDeleteAll job done so far makes me feeling we are in front of an amazing truck game. Congratulations to SCS.
For old trucks, it would be great in the future to have a version of ETS2 but for years from 1960 to 1980 for example, making us travelling in the past of Europe, when probably the life of a trucker was completely different (better ?) from nowadays.

Hello, good work on the actros but you could add new Actros 2011 ( MP4) (or you pouvés put him later in the form of update) in your great game and also if you like a function multiplayer on waiters(servers) rather powerful so that we can cross all the friends please:D
