For a while we have been working on enhanced system of truck paint shaders allowing for flip paint with metallic layer.
The new effect will be available alongside the standard truck paints in paint shop color selection options. It is quite a bit more sophisticated paint shader with wider setup options.
The color supports flip paint effect with metallic layer.
With this effect, the paint can combine up to 3 customizable colors which are shifting into prominence based on viewing angle.
Custom metallic paints support will be available in the next patch. It will be accompanied by a free DLC containing several ready-made paint jobs which use new effect and some additional tricks for maximum effect.
This is our way of saying thanks to all of you for your ongoing support. Once the DLC is released, you'll receive a message via upcoming World of Trucks Event system with your Steam activation code.
We hope to wrap up the tweaking and testing of all trucks within the next couple of weeks, so you could enjoy this 1.10 feature soon as well.

DeleteFuck all the non Steam users. Steam is great, nothing wrong with it. And a very easy way for the devs to distribute updates. Don't blame your own incompetence on Steam. SCS should only support Steam from now on so they can invest their time in other more important things.

They are working on 3 trucks for American Truck and SImulator and for ETS2 they are working on the new Daf Euro 6, Renault T and Mercedes (Majestic) Actros. I believe that the Daf Euro 6 will be included in patch 1.10 because a truck model needs 6 months to be made. The Mercedes Actros and Renault T will be released in October if it will take them 6 months to create them.

ReplyDeleteits not about who's money count, but to who they can offer a faster service. Steam players have it all ready for faster distribution of updates, dlc and game keys handling. Disk game users demand a different setup where SCS would have to handle all that part, diverting their content development sources to handle such situations. Thats why they rather re-release boxed versions with the extra content later on their development cycle instead of setting a separate network of distribution to handle such extra content.

DeleteLet's make it clear. DRM does NOT prevent piracy at all. According to many researches games with DRM have same piracy levels as non-DRM games. I believe the best way to prevent piracy is multiplayer. I highly value that I really own the games I buy. Steam just gives you a service and ability to play them. Game is not owned by the player, Steam only lets people play games they "bought". I avoid buying from Steam as much as possible because of that.
ReplyDeleteThink the year 2034. Will every game on Steam we have listed today still be there on the future? Possibly the answer is no. For nostalgia gamers and collectors, Steam is a nightmare.
SCS Software should implement multiplayer and shout out loudly: We don't use DRM! By that SCS would gain many gamers on their side. But it's only a wish. There should be a way to play without Steam even if the game is bought from Steam. I bought Europa Universalis IV from Steam and got a license to download and install the game without Steam if I want to. That was very nice from the publisher!
Don't know if any of the developers read this comment but I think that many people agree with me. Steam has it's good sides too, but as long as buying from Steam means not owning the game, not being able to copy games for long-future use and support of multinational corporation which uses it's marketshare against it's competitors, Steam is something I will avoid as much as I could.
But I have to say that SCS Software is amazing in terms of support and hearing the customers voice! This is the only thing that's bugging me with SCS.

Deletethe disk version of the game uses a key verification system, by 2035 its probable it won't be online anymore as well. Unless SCS releases a patch, your disk game will be useless too. So whats the real problem about steam?
DeleteAlso, several games have been removed from steam and are no longer available for sale, even thou you can find them in other. places. Still, if you bought them, steam still allows you to download them as many times you want, and install them on as many machines you need.
So as you see, both sides have their ups and downs, demonizing one to favor other doesn't really work nowadays.
As mentioned, imagining your non-steam games will activate without issues in 20 years is a bit naive in the same way.
DeleteFor what it's worth, if your Steam game is third-party you can export the CD key; they all come with one which they use for activation in the background.
In most cases you can use this to install retail copies.

If you ask my opinion, answer is absolutely no. Everyone doesn't own steering wheel and game playability have been good before 1.9 patch, with keyboard and mouse only.
As I understand, it's the paintjob DLC the one Steam-only. The metallic paint feature it's just something that will come with 1.10 patch.

ReplyDeleteand please a lot spend a little time to correct bugs and other minor map/terrain enhancements, or some graphic enhancements ( the background sky is really ugly and unrrealistic during the rain, HDR).
maybe some areas of the initial game should be more populated with objects, like you did in DLC
...and HOPE for long-term you would amaze us with other functions for this game : police cars, a random fine system according to reality, not on EVERY RED traffic light, ambulance, fire trucks, more pedestrians in the city, some bikes and motors, traffic lights should be different from a country to another, and RANDOM PROBLEMS with the truck (random engine malfunctions, power loss from baterry, tires loosing pressure, problems with air/diesel fuel filters, or with lights.... if this is not possible due to license permitions from the companies, we understand...they want "a good light" for their product, but please implement other interesting options to revive the game, it became a little boring, the map is small enough, the road connections are all repetitive, the same the companies residence and the garages....

DeleteInteresting the new DLC, but should continue to improve various aspects of the game. For example, during the game we can see our road drivers employed and continue to improve the AI. I think the first point I mentioned, many of us care about. Us no good to employed drivers and not see them on the road. If possible have the option of making caravans with our drivers. It would be interesting, although many of us would like to make it through a multiplayer, which is under development and has already been released.

DeleteI don't think this is useless, but on the other hand I'm begging for better models of Scania, Iveco, Man, DAF and even Renault and Mercedes. They aren't nearly as sharp as the newer models. By the way if you want improved DAF model there's a mod!

DeleteIrodescent, Gloss, Metallic, Pearlscent, Matte, Chrome and Candy, wheels paint, some Vinyls for Trucks (I wan't to write names and have "tatoos" on my truck), Some bigger beacons, side skirts (simple bars and the painted one) for all the trucks (6x2, 6x4, ...) Maybe some other upgrades (lights on mirrors back of the truck...) and this is gonna be a very good game. BTW I don't mind if I have to pay for this
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why Mercedes-Benz Actros MP3 6x4 (with the real name) have side skirt (usually I drive DAF and I din't knew about this until a few days ago, and I don't konw if other truck have side skirts or longer 6x4 than 6x2) AND the 6x4 is longer than 6x2 ??? If the MB have longer chassis than all the trucks must have longer AND shorter chassis

Totally agree with Strangerberry , if the game was from the release date , i wouldn't care , but it was retail since and came later in steam , the success of the game is due to players who bought retail version and now the SCS Team completely put aside the players of that version.

Like 2 or 3-axle trailer (not semi), a used truck shop, that we all saw in 18 wos (you can buy a used truck (trailer if there was a usage for it in the game) for less money, but in a worse condition in need of better care), and other things remindin you, that you play a simulator. So far, the game is pure arcade.....
I know I know, they are a small team of few members (so why did they start creating other game, when the original one isn't finished yet?) and if I want this, I should create my own game....
I'm just saying.
Yeah, and I forgot to mention, one huge addition to the game is the new AI. I admit, this is well done work.

ReplyDeleteDear SCS: PLEASE make a non-Steam version of this DLC. Like many, I tried Steam and I'm not fond of having to agree to the installation of adware on my computer. I know some people think that Steam is the greatest thing in the world but many others, myself included, do not wish to have the program. I do hope that ATS will be available in non-steam otherwise I won't be buying it :( In fact, I just un-installed Steam for the fourth time on my computer because it keeps locking up or CTD after every six months or so. Frankly, it's a pain in the neck and I'm sick of un-installing and re-installing and then having to re-download my games. Just give me a disc I can pop in the drive and go or, like your other games (such as ETS2), I can download the demo and then activate it online. PLEASE consider for the sake of all non-steam users. Thank you.

DeleteI use Steam for other games. I bought this game before it was available on Steam. Seems like that ought to count for something. I don't hate Steam, even if they don't have anything remotely close to customer support. Have an issue over there and trust me your tune will change. I keep some games off of Steam and this is one of them. I've said it before, SCS has the right to offer it any way they choose but that doesn't mean I have to be happy about it either. I'll just have to live without it I suppose. Maybe that's why my fervor but not love of the game has waned. Tired of being treated like a second class citizen. Oh well, it looks great! I'll enjoy mine as is, though.

First, although is big, the map is not inflatable. Even in this scale, you want to change one thing here and you're surprised you have not enough space to keep other things there. Second, lots of things in game absolutely don't look like in real life, especially on places with dense bulit-up areas (on the other hand, parts of map are done great). For example, you can only guess by few notable landmarks that you're now driving through the Czech Republic, because anything else in this part of map is one big nonsense, while Slovakia is done so great (and as realistic as was possible with editor) that you have no problem to believe you're now driving through Slovakia. So take it easy with those small gas stations, yea, I understand it doesn't look realistic, I understand that whole German part of map carrie the "inheritance" of German Truck Simulator, but there are similar nonsenses all over the gaming world, even in SCS's homeland. After all, it's still a game. ;)

ReplyDeleteIronic that you should release this DLC for Steam users as a "thank you" for support whereas it was retail users, their sales and their campaign that got you on Steam to begin with. You wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them. You're a real piece of work SCS.
ReplyDeleteWhile many of those same people actually just changed their install to Steam. Don't assume that Steam users weren't there from the start. We just chose to save them distribution costs and ease of updating.

Deletei'm not using steam for ets2 because i played nearly 120 hrs without steam and i don't know if steam includes them, if not i don't wanna let them return to 0 in the main menu game selection screen... yes i do care about things like that ;)
ReplyDeleteOne change I would like different is how the colors are selected. While the current color picker is nice, I would like a little more finer control by adding a RGB or CMYK code selector so that we can pick very specific colors. Just an idea.
ReplyDeleteSame as the las anonymous's answer , have maximum drivers working for my company , and my character has reached high level so don't want to restart from zero , if anyone can prove that can be done with steam version , the save game from retail version can work with steam version and the mods also working that version , i will surely go download that version.

DeleteYou must be kidding. The game is a simulator game, simulator game means REAL conditions, EXACTLY as in real life.
DeleteThere is NO way a vehicle to keep a steady speed by itself, the driver will have to use gas and breaks. IF you want to keep a steady speed what you can do is to engage the cruise control (auto pilot) in the speed you want, keep in mind that you cannot use cruise control for speed lower than 30KMH. And even when you engage the cruise control for a specific speed, you have to watch the odometer because there are times that the cruise control will go off, that is what is happening in real life, that is why is a SIMULATOR game.
What did you thought? that you would press a button and chose the speed you want and then the truck will keep that speed for ever? There is NO way for that.
Even when there will be no steering in vehicles, maybe in the next 10-20 years, we will getting into our cars, chose the destination and then the car will take us there with ANY speed it will determine, but that is another story and another technology and is the future.
Euro Truck Simulator is a SIMULATOR game, you driving a truck under real conditions, circumstances. ONLY if you are a kid and you have no idea about driving , then you are looking for steady speed.
If you want to maintain a steady speed, 50 KMH then use gas and breaks and cruise control and STOP complaining. There is NO way a vehicle to NOT accelerate even with cruise control ON.
I am wondering why the selling men games to kids, ETS2 should be for 18+

I am sorry for anyone who has no choice because STEAM may not be available to them. Otherwise, SCS has been clear and up front on their STEAM strategy.
It is what it is and tough if you choose not to use STEAM.
Typically, updates are available to the non-STEAM folks later ... you just have to have patience!

Delete@ Mats Polden , You got to have lot of patience, The Promods guys are doing huge work and whole Europe will be completed in some time , you can see the progress , in 1.7 version of the mod there will be much more roads to drive!.

like mercedes sprinter or renault master , these are not cars they are trucks to so maybe for the future you could think about adding trucks to 3.5ton

ReplyDeleteSCS Software pleas bring back the Cops . I like the idea of new paint job's and love all the updates you have given us thus far but I miss the Police . We had them in 18WOS and the only complaint I had at that time was we never saw the cop's chasing after other motorist . With the way the traffic interacts now I 'am sure it would be better , let me put this in caps cause I know someone will repeat it ( BETTER THAN HAVING THE SPEED CAM OR TRAFFIC CAM ). Don't get me wrong I like the speed cams but wish to see the Cop's back in the game .

well said I totally agree with follow because I'm Portuguese and I wish I could explore my parents and not only. I have mentioned several times since this issue I bought the game new and updated at least SCS could say what the new project to enlarge the map I and many players this fantastic simulator that is the ETS would pay 2 this work because nobody can work for free . with regard to Patch think it should be free. The more countries and cities better. Missing something important in my view that I have mentioned and nothing to be resolved is that I already bought all garages and modernized and are all full lack of truck drivers but there are only 154 and 400 trucks have
