It is a tradition at this point to start a blog article involving Texas DLC with something big. Did you know that the shoreline length which boundaries the coastal geography of the Gulf of Mexico is 367 miles (591 km)?! That is quite an impressive number! And it is therefore hardly a surprise that this upcoming map expansion for American Truck Simulator will feature several cities that are located along the coastline.
Our goal with these cities was not solely to represent the real-life counterparts but also to offer a chance to the players to witness multiple biomes within the state in addition to the overwhelming deserts. After all, as mentioned above, the coastline area is, simply put, quite large. Let’s travel from south to north and briefly describe what you can expect from each city that you will be able to pass through while on a journey near the coast.
Brownsville is going to be the southmost city, which, apart from being situated virtually on the border with Mexico, is also the center of greatly developed and modern industry. The economical prowess is proven not only by the offshore shipyard but furthermore by the fact that this is the location of popular Starbase!
A bit farther to the north lies the city of Corpus Christi with a view on the Texas State Aquarium and USS Lexington, which used to be one of the biggest aircraft carrier ships in the 1920s. Oh, and if you are wondering about the unique name of the city, it comes from Ecclesiastical Latin, meaning "body of Christ", and it was given to this location in the year 1519 on the day of Feast of Corpus Christi. We figured you might want to know!
Traveling north again, you will have the opportunity to pass through or pass by 3 settlements - Fulton, Port Lavaca, and Palacios. These areas will be the perfect places for you to take a moment to enjoy the sea view, visit local landmarks, and even take a trip to a port.
And finally, at the northmost point, you will be met by a rather fancy resort city of Galveston. While we have already shortly described this city in one of our previous blog posts, there is one more truly special fact to add. You will be able to take a ferry from here that will go further to the north of Texas!
Which of these cities that you have seen today would you like to visit the most? Or perhaps, you’d like to challenge yourself and travel through all of them while enjoying the beautiful coast of The Lone Star State! Well, make sure to add the Texas DLC to your Steam Wishlist to stay in touch with all the latest news, and once the map expansion will be available, you can be one of the first to finish this challenging trip!
Also, don’t forget to keep an eye out for our Texas DLC microsite, which contains a lot of interesting and exclusive content. We appreciate the feedback about this idea and we’ll make sure to add even more cool stuff there in the future!
