Kansas - Emporia

Described as “the loveliest site in the world for a town,” Emporia was founded in 1857. Today, it is known as an "authentic small city" located on the edge of the Flint Hills of Kansas. Today's blog features the work our team has undertaken to recreate the industrial part of the city in our upcoming Kansas DLC for American Truck Simulator, and what drivers can expect to find there.

Don't let the small town atmosphere fool you, this city has quite the busy industry area, featuring warehouses that supply local businesses, shopping malls for its residents, gas stations, factories and even a food plant! You'll find no shortage of delivery contracts in this area.

However, if you are just passing through, why not take a moment to enjoy some of the landmarks that can be found around Emporia, including the Welcome sign which is made from flint sourced locally.

Other landmarks include the Clint Bowyer Community Building, donated by local racing legend Clint Bowyer to give residents a space to use for activities, talks, and more!

So whether you are driving through or making a stop, be sure to take a minute to admire what the city of Emporia has to offer. We look forward to showcasing more from our upcoming Kansas DLC with you; until then, keep on truckin'.

SCS On The Road - History of PACCAR Partnership

The next episode of the SCS On The Road video series is here! This time, we’ll dive into the history between DAF Trucks and us, and talk about a lot of never-before-heard facts about this fruitful cooperation.

Recently we visited DAF Trucks' facilities in Eindhoven, where we gathered some reference materials, discussed future projects, and more. During this awesome visit, we were also lucky enough to meet and sit down with Jan Feenstra, who was originally our first contact in DAF and a person who played a huge part in helping us obtain a license to not only use DAF vehicles in ETS2, but also PACCAR family brand licenses for ATS.

We hope today’s episode will provide you with a lot of interesting information and we encourage you to stay tuned for the next one. Until then, make sure to follow us (X/TwitterInstagramFacebookTikTok) and DAF Trucks (X/TwitterInstagramFacebook) on social media, and let us know how you liked today’s interview. And, as a final note, here is a nice group photo we took before we left the amazing facility in Eindhoven.

West Balkans - Gas Stations, Truck Stops, Rest Areas

Trucking across Europe is demanding work, so taking ample rest is crucial for drivers, especially those on a long haul journey. Finding a suitable spot to rest can be a little challenging, but thanks to dedicated Truck Stops, drivers can unwind and sleep in peace.

In our upcoming West Balkans DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2, you'll find plenty of places to take a quick break to refuel, relax or roll down the window for some fresh air. Fuel stations & Truck Stops, being one the most common places for drivers to take a rest, have undergone some changes in this DLC.

Our team has created a new system for gas stations which creates more spacing options, allowing them to be expanded or built differently. This give us the opportunity to make these areas dynamic for the player. Along with this change, we've also improved the visuals with some local Balkan flare!

You'll find several companies operating fuel stations in the West Balkans such as NADA, APUS OIL and BTS Petrol, which will also be joined by other non-Balkan brands. Some of these have a more modern look, while others may show their age a little but come with some unique landmarks. But of course, these aren't the only places you can stop.

From little lay-bys to larger rest areas with amenities, there is always a place to take a well deserved break from the many highways and country roads of the West Balkans. You'll never know what you'll see around the area, so take a moment to get familiar with your surroundings!

We hope you've enjoyed taking a quick break to read about the West Balkans DLC, but it's time to hit the road again! Our teams continue to work hard on this project, and we look forward to sharing more news in the future. Until next, keep on truckin'!

West Balkans - Through Big Cities

It's no secret that our upcoming West Balkans DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2 will feature quite a few different cities, which you may have seen from some of our previous blog posts. Some of our larger cities however, will not only feature lots of details and landmarks, but will also allow drivers to travel through the centre of them!

In this blog, we will showcase 3 cities from the West Balkans which feature a central road network; let's take a look!

Sarajevo

Welcome to Sarajevo, a city where centuries of history, vibrant culture, and breathtaking landscapes come together. As the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is often described as where East meets West, as its architecture often shows the contrast depending where you are in the city.

Parts of the city which we'll depict in our DLC include the area around the Miljacka River, which flows through Sarajevo. This includes the street "Obala Kulina bana", the downtown street crossing "Zmaja od Bosne", and the intersection of "Stupska Petlja".

Among the hustle and bustle of the city, drivers will also need to keep an eye out for trams which run throughout the city.

Tirana

Nestled against a backdrop of rugged mountains is Tirana, the capital of Albania. Featuring colorful architecture and a rich cultural heritage, it is often described as the gem of the West Balkans, undiscovered by the masses.

Here, not only will you find a bustling city atmosphere, but also many green areas, including the Grand Park of Tirana (Parku i Madh) which features a man-made lake and a view of the city.

Drivers visiting Tirana will be able to travel on the main road network known as "Rruga Teodor Keko", which offers a route close by to the city centre and access to other local industries.

Pristina

Pristina, the heart of Kosovo, welcomes visitors with a mix of tradition and progress. Its bustling streets features a mix of Ottoman and Balkan influences, making it a unique and dynamic city.

Here you can find a combination of architecture old and new, from historic buildings, to modern developments such as LakrishtĂ«. Drivers will be able to pass through the city centre through busy areas like the the northern district of "Kodra e Trimave".

It's true what they say, each city has its own unique charm and character, and the cities of the West Balkans is no exception. We look forward to letting you explore these historic lands for yourself in the future; until then, be sure to add it to your Steam Wishlist!
