We are looking forward to welcoming new truck simulation game players - Euro Truck Simulator 2 was published on Steam just a few minutes ago.

We just got word from Valve, the original ETS2 Product Keys (also known as CD keys though they are not necessarily only from CD editions of the game) should as of now activate the game. Please try again if you've failed to activate the game on Steam before!

Will one have to download the game on Steam again (of course back up your profile and live_streams.sii and mods) or is there some way to trick Steam into recognizing the already existing installation?
ReplyDeleteyou can probably just copy the game folder into your steam library folder
DeleteI'd copy the main data but leave the other misc files, then verify with Steam to sort that out.
DeleteI think it will be like this (don't know until the activation will be work)
Delete1. Activate key
2. Start download (preparing files)
3. After preparing files will be completed close steam
4. Find ets2 folder in steamapps
5. Copy your game and overwrite all files
6. Run steam and verify integrity game files (for 100% sure that copying completed succesfully)

If i download it on steam do i still get to play my saved games from the disc version thats already installed?

That just means there is some (hopefully small) issue and you'll be sooner or later able to activate it on Steam. It's not nice, I know, but it's software, and errors happens (not to mention human factor).
You probably misunderstood me. I just bought steam version and I was curious will steam key work with version from ETS2 site..

ReplyDeleteI'll think now if to buy it :) I need to see in this game ticket for not taking sleep because this bothered me the most. Also tiredness is not at all dangerous. It barelly goes to black and there is no lag in steering or using brake pedals ect. If this will be implemented give me info about it on steam (Cosm1c_Gam3r) then ill buy it on steam or maybe from internet store in Poland.

ReplyDeleteAlso, will there be multiplayer/co-op of any sort? I'd be happy with something as simple as having a buddy in the truck with me and the ability to switch the driver so you don't get too tired on long trips.
Hmmm. I managed to get steam to accept my CD-key, but there it stopped. It just doesn't show up in the list of games.

But its still the retail version so the key should be working on steam right?.

it is fake.. as it is from keygen.. and can unlock demo. but not in scs's database and cannot pass steam security check, or if scs fix their weak security in next patch your key will not work

just love to play this game, but in this time from the release date and the latest patch, there is nothing new... hope will be very soon any new upgrades, new patches, new roads on the map, new countries in the map, new weather improvements (snow,...).
ReplyDeleteReally hoping for any new stuff in ETS2, but not to forget would be great to add in the job list new products, like audio-tv stuff, computers, any kinds of materials, construcion materials, new foods, food tankers, etc. Really hoping any new stuff will be downable with the patches or from your download section. I'm two times a week on this blog site and nothing new about new items for the ETS2 game. Please SCS, can you account this for the game. I really hope so. Many of us would like to see new items and other stuff that can improve this driving simulation. With regards, Tony & Alex (Lj, Slo).
