Destination Hannover Event

Join us tomorrow, Thursday the 1st of September, as we kick off a very special and unique World Of Trucks event - Destination Hannover! We invite you, our #BestCommunityEver, to meet us at this year's IAA Transportation show being held at Hannover Expo (in-game: ITS), Germany.

We are asking for your personal help to set up this exciting and important international event by delivering food, beverages, equipment and machinery for use by all of the IAA exhibitors, from all over Europe. This is a great chance to travel to the beautiful city of Hannover and be part of a trade show that is dedicated to the logistical transportation industry which is at the heart of our game.

Not only that, there will be a special option for players to also deliver new Krone trailers to the show, direct from the new Krone Factory in Werlte, Germany! This will be open to all players, not just Krone DLC owners, so that everyone has a chance to experience this great content during the event. Be sure to collect your Krone Cargoes to Hanover from the southern depot at entrance number 3!

This will be your personal adventure with us, and we've got some great rewards on offer, including a World of Trucks Achievement and no less than 3 special cabin items for you, including something very special and never seen before. It's our way of saying thank you for taking part in the set up.

Rules

Using External Contracts, with a World of Trucks-connected profile in Euro Truck Simulator 2, your personal goal is to complete a total of 7 deliveries of cargo to the Hannover Expo (ITS) in Germany to help set up the IAA Transportation show.

At least 1 of these deliveries must be a Krone Trailer, of any type, from the Krone Factory in Werlte Germany, with the remaining deliveries being any cargo from anywhere.

All jobs for the event need to be at least 200 km or more.

Rewards:

  • Personal goal: Players that complete 7 or more deliveries of cargo to supply the IAA Transportation show at the Hannover Expo (ITS), will gain a personal World of Trucks Achievement along with 3 unique, show related, cabin items:
    • A futuristic concept truck hologram, Driving the Future, in the spirit of the IAA Transportation show
    • A neat souvenir Hannover City Mug
    • A very cool looking Krone Lunch Box

All rewards are Steam inventory items for Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Krone DLC not required for this event.

The event will be concluded on Sunday the 25th of September at 23:59 UTC.

We eagerly await your stories and photos from your trip to Hannover and Werlte this year, we think this event is going to be a lot of fun for everyone and it's really something quite new to experience in the game! So please, share your screenshots and videos with us using the hashtag #DestinationHannover on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram profiles and we will share our favourite ones (we may even feature some of them in a future blog post!).

New MAN TGX In The Making

Last December, during our traditional Christmas stream, we showed some WIP development images of a truck that our vehicles team have been working on for Euro Truck Simulator 2. That truck of course is the new MAN Truck Generation TGX.

Today, we are happy to share with you some progress that has been made on this upcoming truck in the form of some screenshots! As you can see, since that original stream, our vehicles team has made quite a bit of progress; but there is still plenty of work to be completed.

Rest assured, our teams are still working hard, and with plenty of work and testing still on the road ahead, we will be making sure that all our quality standards are met before we release it.

We look forward to sharing more development updates from upcoming projects and additions for both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. So if you haven't already, be sure to follow us on our socials (TwitterInstagramFacebookTikTok) to always get the latest news on the road.

Texas - Rocks

It’s time to set out on a trip through some of the natural beauty of Texas! You can keep calm, however, as we won’t ask you to drag your trucks over high mountains or deep river ravines. You can enjoy taking a look at the unique local rock formations just the way you like it - from the comfort of your interior. So buckle up, because it might still turn out to be a bumpy, rock-covered, ride!

Perhaps the most distinctive landscape feature in the upcoming DLC will be a vertical rock formation called El Capitan. This limestone peak is a part of the Guadalupe Mountains and it ranks among the highest points in The Lone Star State. Interestingly, this location used to be a prehistoric underwater reef originating in the Permian period (about 290 million years ago) and today it belongs to one of the best-preserved Paleozoic reefs in the world.

And speaking of mountains, Paisano might seem less interesting at the first glance than El Capitan, but one should always avoid judging a book by its cover. This is no ordinary mountain, but a volcano! Well, the most explosive years are now long gone, but during the Tertiary period, this entire area was much warmer than now. The surrounding lands actually contain traces of vulcanic activity to this very day.

While the previous landmarks make you look up while passing by, we can imagine only the bravest among you will want to look down when driving over the Pecos river via one of the tallest bridges in Texas. Once you will make it to the other side it is worth taking a look back though, as the canyon is made of limestone walls, which the river has been forming here for hundreds of thousands of years.

Everything mentioned in this article is located in the Chihuahuan desert (not a place full of dogs!), which, to sum it all up, will generally also be a perfect place for those who are fans of uninterrupted views of the surrounding mountains, since, as the name suggests, it is an arid place ruled by the wind and harsh sun. Due to the lack of vegetation, you will be able to enjoy the sight of seemingly infinite plains and tall mountains, and we have done our best to represent them in as much detail as possible, so you can properly enjoy the local atmosphere.

We would also like to give a special shout-out to Andrea, who is a graduate of Charles University with a degree in geology, and conveniently the wife of one of our colleagues. It started with some small consultations regarding the materials and afterward escalated to the stage where Andrea began collecting information on the geological map and helping with research on the overall geology of Texas. Amazingly, she is actually helping with identifying rocks for the European team as well! Awesome work!

It seems like it might truly be worth it to sometimes take a look around while driving through the roads of Texas DLC. That is unless you are made of scissors... Just a little rock, paper, scissors joke for you. Either way, make sure to add the map expansion to your Steam Wishlist and in order to not miss out on any news follow our social media profiles (TwitterInstagramFacebookTikTok), subscribe to our newsletter, or check out our microsite dedicated to this project.

Visit at the Volvo Facility in the US

Recently, we were honored to have the opportunity to visit Volvo Trucks North America at one of their facilities located in the state of Virginia. The main reason behind this visit was to strengthen our partner relationship and meet with representatives of the company; however, this was not all we got up to!

We also had the opportunity to capture important reference data for our Vehicles department's next project for American Truck Simulator, an updated version of Volvo Trucks' legendary VNL. Whilst we know many of you will be excited to hear this news (we're too!) please keep in mind that this project is still in the very early stages of development. We don't have any work-in-progress shots to show you yet, but we will do our very best to work as quickly and closely as possible with the Volvo Trucks team to bring it to life in ATS.

We look forward to sharing with you more development news for American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 in the near future. Keep on truckin' our #BestCommunityEver!

Montana - Community Spotlight

After the recent release of Montana DLC for American Truck Simulator, we have been flooded with various feedback coming from all sides and lurking behind every corner. We love seeing all the screenshots and videos on various social media, experiences of the content creators, reviews, and both positive opinions and constructive criticism.

Today, we’ll present to you some of this feedback, starting with screenshots and videos which filled out social media channels to the brim. We love reading about the journeys of the members of #BestCommunityEver and we even share your posts with each other across our internal channels. You can continue to send us your screenshots and videos from Montana by tagging us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or TikTok.

We have also received an outstanding amount of positive reviews on our Steam Page. We are grateful to everyone who takes the time to leave a review or provide us with constructive criticism about Montana! Here are a few of our favorites. If you would like to add a review yourself, be sure to do so at the Montana Steam Store Page.

Speaking of reviews, our latest DLC has also managed to catch the eye of some official press coverage, such as this wonderful review article from PCInvasion. If you are still unsure whether Montana is a worthy addition to your American Truck Simulator map, we recommend giving the full article a read.

Furthermore, we have decided to reach out to some of your favorite content creators, who have been busier than ever, recording and streaming their trucking journeys in the new map expansion. We would like to thank all these creators for sharing with us their opinions and allowing us to pass them along to our blog readers.

"Montana is easily the best 20+ hours of new roads to hit this game! Starting from the western side, I was immediately taken back by the mountains towering over the road. A back road I found is nothing short of a joy and shows the level of detail they are willing to put into things some people might not even find! I immediately headed up to Glacier National Park and was not disappointed. The views are breathtaking and now I probably have to go there in real life. One thing I have noted is that people that live in Montana from my community are blown away by the accuracy of the towns and roads. Once again another must-buy state." - RyaStream

"Wow.. just wow! Montana is packed with such detail and surprises in each town. SCS have put in such amazing work to make the state look absolutely incredible! The attention to the small details in this map expansion is absolutely breathtaking. I had such a fun time exploring all the new places in Montana but I have to say Great Falls is for sure my favorite place on the map with such great views to look out for. Make sure to stop at all the viewpoints to be even more blown away by Montana's beauty! Great job SCS you did the community proud for sure." - GamingPeach

"Montana is way better than we expected it to be! From the beautiful countryside scenery to the amazing architecture spotted in big cities, Montana is a must-have for anyone in the ATS world! We were amazed to see new cargo options as well! We have spent the last week exploring everything Montana has to offer, and we still have more to discover! Thank you SCS Software for once again blowing it out of the water and making American Truck Simulator even more enjoyable than it already was! 5 Stars from the 517!"Stream517 (Chris & Laci)

"It’s hard to believe that SCS is able to top their map DLCs in quality every single time! This DLC features the ‘Treasure State’ of Montana where you can explore the famous Glacier & Yellowstone National Parks. The winding roads offer jaw-dropping vistas & stunning backdrops. The most challenging road ever in ATS with scary cliffs & broken bridges is also in the DLC (but is hidden in the map). It’s not just mountains though, as you can also find flat areas towards the eastern part. I must mention the wonderful industries too; they are unique and often huge!" - A. P. 101 Gaming

And finally, we’d like to take a moment to say how blown away we are by the collective force of the #BestCommunityEver. With the release of the DLC, we started a World of Trucks event with a community goal of driving 100,000,000 miles (160,934,400 km) while delivering cargoes to or from any city in Montana, and you have all absolutely smashed it in less than two weeks. Great job! Just don’t forget, you still have until 25th of September at 23:59 UTC to get your personal rewards, which you can learn more about in the dedicated blog post.

To wrap it all up, once again, we appreciate the general feedback so much and we bow before the immense support. All of our developers are always doing their best to transition their passion into game design, and it is encouraging to see it pay off by receiving such incredible feedback. Thank you all very much!

Texas - Agriculture

The relationship between trucks and agriculture is something that some people might find trivial, yet it’s important to realize how crucial this cooperation actually is. Gone are now the days of small-scale farming in the backyards since the modern dedicated lands are growing in size rapidly. And what better place to look at as an example of this development than the state of Texas, which has 127 million acres of agricultural land?

It is said that grain elevators are such massive and complex structures that even the employees who operate within them can get lost from time to time. While that might possibly be true, we assure you if you will see a high frequency of these buildings on your journey through the Lone Star State, you are most likely (but don’t bet on it) located in the northern area, as this part of the country features most of them.

This facility is designed to stockpile or store grain, and with over 248,000 real-life farms, you can imagine why it was necessary to feature several of these complexes in the upcoming DLC.

While vineyards are a bit less common, Texas ranks fifth in the US wine production, and the history of this particular industry dates back to 1650. After so many years, there are currently over 400 local wineries with several of these locations being the destinations of the so-called "wine tourism". And even though in our game you can only head out to these areas on a business trip, they are still a worthy sight to behold.

You will also be able to haul to and from areas dedicated to the cattle industry, which contributes billions of dollars to market products sold every year, and the cotton industry (more in our previous article). Additionally, there will also be farms growing watermelons, since Texas ranks 3rd in US production and this fruit state’s largest annual horticultural crop.

As always, make sure to add the Texas DLC to your Steam Wishlist to show us how excited you are to contribute to the local in-game economy with your hard work. Also, to never miss out on anything important, you can follow our social media profiles (TwitterInstagramFacebookTikTok), subscribe to our newsletter, or check out our microsite dedicated to this project.
