Nordic Horizons: Road Network

There's something uniquely captivating about the open roads of the north - the dramatic coastlines, winding mountain passes, and the quiet charm of remote towns. Today, we would like to show you some of the roads in development for the Nordic Horizons DLC, and where they will take you!

The European route E6 begins in southern Sweden before crossing into Norway, where it becomes one of the country’s most important north–south highways. It runs the entire length of the Land of the Midnight Sun, all the way to North Cape, the northernmost point in Europe accessible by car.

About halfway along the route, truckers will pass through the Nordlandsporten gate. Further north, the journey continues across the 300-meter-long Kåfjordbrua bridge.

Running like a spine along the eastern coast of Sweden, the European route E4 stretches from the south all the way up to the city of Haparanda on the Finnish border. It's one of the country's most vital routes, passing through bustling cities, dense forests, and long stretches of open countryside.

Drivers will also cross the beautifully recreated Högakustenbron, one of Sweden's longest suspension bridges, standing high above the Ångerman River, and the Sundsvall Bridge, curving across the water just outside the city center.

Cutting through the heart of Finland from south to north, the European route E75 begins in the capital, Helsinki, and winds its way deep into the Arctic. It takes drivers through ever-changing landscapes - from the forested hills around Jyväskylä, known for its lakes and lively university town atmosphere, to the quiet, rugged beauty of Ivalo, above the Arctic Circle.

We hope we got you excited to cruise along the Nordic Horizons' road network. If we did, make sure to add this map expansion to your Steam Wishlist! Iowa: Road Network #2

We're back on the road in Iowa to share with you more of the Road Network you can see whilst trucking through this upcoming DLC for American Truck Simulator. If you haven't read Part 1 of this blog, you can take a read of the blogpost here. Without further ado, let's see what lies ahead!

As many of you are likely familiar with them, weigh stations are a common sight across the U.S., and Iowa is no exception! These checkpoints ensure that a cargo meets legal weight limits, helping to prevent road damage and verifying that truckers have the correct paperwork. You’ll come across weigh stations both large and small in Iowa, so be sure to pull in when required.

Another important stop truckers should make regularly are rest stops, which are plentiful throughout Iowa. These facilities offer amenities and outdoor areas for drivers, ensuring safe and comfortable breaks during long journeys.

Intersections come in all shapes and sizes, and Iowa features some pretty unique ones! A great example is the iconic gateway into Iowa and the City of Council Bluffs. Named Paley’s Odyssey, it features four individual sculptures, towering up to 61 feet high which are constructed from bronze, Cor-Ten steel, and stainless steel. It’s definitely a landmark that drivers can’t miss.

Construction sites are a testament to Iowa’s ongoing commitment to infrastructure, industry, and housing development. You’ll find plenty of job contracts offering the chance to deliver much-needed equipment and materials. While travelling through the Hawkeye State, you’ll also spot various construction sites and road works along the way.

Bridges in Iowa are not just functional, they’re icons! One that many Iowa residents may be familiar with is the standout blue Mormon Bridge, which spans the Missouri River. Another notable structure is the Arsenal Bridge, a unique double-deck bridge that carries two railroad lines on the upper level and vehicular/pedestrian traffic below. It also crosses one of the largest rivers in the U.S., the Mississippi!

We hope you enjoyed hittin' the road with us and checking out some of the landmarks, interstates, junctions, rest stops, and more you'll come across in Iowa. Be sure to keep up to date with the latest development news by following us on our socials or subscribing to our Newsletter! Until then, if you like what you see, add the Iowa DLC to your Steam Wishlist. Until next time, keep on truckin'!

Iowa: Road Network

It's time to hit the road and explore what can be found in Iowa's road network! In this blog, we're excited to share with you some of the interstates, junctions, bridges, and more we've been recreating virtually for our upcoming Iowa DLC for American Truck Simulator. Let's get truckin'!

First stop, near Iowa City, drivers will encounter the recently constructed Interstate 80 interchange, a significant infrastructure project completed in 2024. This modern junction features innovative design elements, including distinctive bridges and pillars, that enhance both functionality and aesthetic appeal. It features colourful vegetation, improved traffic flow for Exit 242, and a uniquely designed matching road and pedestrian bridge.

Given that many Iowan cities are situated near rivers, bridges play a pivotal role in the state's road network. Our team has recreated many of the unique bridges large and small found across Iowa, quite a few of which are illuminated in various colours at night. One such bridge is the Women of Achievement Bridge in Des Moines. This elegantly designed pedestrian bridge spans the Des Moines River, honouring notable women from Iowa's history.

Drivers will also be able to cross the Centennial Bridge in Davenport, which spans the Mississippi River and is renowned for its distinctive arches and nighttime lighting. One unique and famous bridge we could not miss is the wooden Madison Bridge, which was famously featured in The Bridges of Madison County, a well-known American romantic drama movie.

We already covered some of the truck stops in Iowa where you can refuel and rest, which you can read about here. However, one rest stop that drivers are big fans of is located on I-80 westbound near Adair! Best known for its towering wind turbine blade sculpture, standing approximately 148 feet tall, it serves as a tribute to Iowa's leadership in wind energy production. Be sure to check it out on your travels!

The state of Iowa continues to grow, so as you drive across the state, you'll be sure to find plenty of construction along the way too! Be sure to check out your Job Market for any contracts that will help deliver needed equipment or machinery to these construction sites.

We hope you enjoyed hittin' the road with us and checking out some of the landmarks, interstates, junctions, rest stops, and more you'll come across in Iowa. But there's still more to come, so be sure to keep an eye on our blog for future updates! Until then, if you like what you see, add the Iowa DLC to your Steam Wishlist. Until next time, keep on truckin'!

Missouri - Road Network

A map expansion without roads? Now that would be a logistical nightmare for our drivers! Luckily, that's not the case here. In this blog, we bring a preview of the road network that awaits you in our upcoming Missouri map expansion for American Truck Simulator.

Our teams have meticulously recreated some of the big junctions and intersections inspired by real locations in the Show Me State. Here you can see some of them.

One notable spot is a major road junction just outside St. Joseph, where US-36 and I-229 converge. This area also includes the Pony Express Bridge, which spans the Missouri River and connects Missouri to Kansas.

On the opposite side of the state near Jefferson City, you will find a detailed recreation of the intersection where US-54 and US-50 meet. Nearby, the beautiful Jefferson City Bridge offers a scenic route northeast of the city.

In the eastern part of Columbia, there's another complex interchange involving the US-63 and the Dwight D. Eisenhower Highway.

At the heart of Kansas City, you will find two major junctions that are closely connected. They are linked by Interstate 70, which runs through both. These critical intersections serve as connections between I-70 with Interstate 35, and US-71.

We hope you are excited to get in your truck and take it for a ride on some of these roads! If you want to show us that you are also looking forward to trucking in this map expansion, don't forget to add it to your Steam Wishlist! Greece - Road Network: Highways & Junctions

Let's hit the road and explore Greece's highways and byways! In this blog, we're excited to showcase the intricate road network we've been working on for the upcoming Greece map expansion in Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Truckers will be able to get to Greece through six different border crossings. We have already shown you three of those in this blog. After arriving into the country, players will be able to travel in all directions thanks to multiple highways that we have recreated for this map expansion - the A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, and A8 - which will get you pretty much everywhere you need to go and will also include plenty of interesting and meticulously crafted intersections.

An important transportation hub will be the Igoumenítsa ferry, which acts as a vital point of access on the west coast of Greece, connecting the country with Italy. From there, three major European roads will await drivers and lead them through the rest of the country.

The E55 starts all the way north in Sweden and continues to the south of the Peloponnese peninsula. The E90 connects Portugal with Turkey and crosses Greece from the west to the Turkish border through Thessaloniki and then along the coastline. The E92 connects Greece's west coast with its east coast and goes through many cities, including Trikala.

Hopefully, we managed to get you a little bit more excited about this upcoming map expansion. If you like what you saw here, be sure to add Greece to your Steam Wishlist, as it really supports us and our future releases. Arkansas - Road Network

Arkansas's extensive road network, a web of highways, interstates, and local roads, plays a crucial role for truckers. These routes traverse the state's diverse landscapes, connecting rural areas with larger towns and cities. This connectivity is not only vital for the state's economy but also for the efficiency and reliability of freight movement across the country. Today we are happy to share with you a preview of some of the Road Networks you'll find in our upcoming Arkansas DLC for American Truck Simulator.

Whilst there will be plenty of roads to explore, some of the major Interstates you'll come across include the I-30, I-40, and I-49, which span between several important cities and towns. Along the I-49, players will have the opportunity to travel through the States' first and only interstate tunnel, the Bobby Hopper Tunnel! Whether traveling through Arkansas or beyond, these roads serve as a vital connection for industries and small businesses alike.

Arkansas will also feature important highway routes including Highway 412 and 70, which links Arkansas to Oklahoma, as well as the US-82 which enters the State from Texas. These connections will certainly be popular among truckers who take on long-haul deliveries across the U.S.!

In towns and cities, you'll find unique intersections as well as several interesting level crossings. Drivers will also come across a few roundabouts, which although rare, are starting to become more of a common sight across the USA. One unique example can be found in the city of Magnolia, where a roundabout was built around the Columbia County Circuit Clerk building, which makes for quite the landmark.

There will also be quite a few areas, and scenic roads which we encourage players to find for themselves, as they will not (at first) be shown on the map. We hope you'll enjoy discovering and exploring these areas for yourself.

We hope you enjoyed this preview of some of the roads you'll be traveling on in Arkansas. Looking forward to driving on them yourself? Then be sure to add it to your Steam Wishlist! We are excited to share more previews and news with you in the future, until then, keep on truckin'.
