We have received a very cool offer from Logitech for closer cooperation. We are getting access to developer SDKs, allowing us to take better advantage of the capabilities of their input devices. We were also kindly provided with a heap of hardware to try out and develop on.

We will need to wait a bit more though until the next ETS2 update is finally available. No doubt we are testing the limits of patience of many of you; taking so long with the patch. Big things are brewing, both for the next update and for the overall vision of future evolution of ETS2 and our truck sims in general. Unfortunately big changes in technology take time to develop and test properly, we cannot release them half-done. We are now mostly done with the changes planned for the game update, so please bear with us, the wait is almost over (though not quite, we are talking probably weeks, not days, before it's all fine-tuned for release).

SCS remember to check the position of the trailer on the tractor and please take a look at the gas tanks becouse they look to small on Majestik Volvo and Renault Magnum .. and if you have time now make an Actros 3D model with 2 tanks becouse this tyre's not cool ! :D.. And maybe some future patches removeable cab spilers.. You're a very dedicated and that's what is keeping the game up! :)

DeleteAfter reading some of these articles about the patches when they talk about changing the technology behind the game so much, I seriously get the feeling the ETs2 we got in October wasn't the ETS SCS wanted to release. Just reading a glimpse of what's going to be added, and what they keep talking about is quite amazing. It's a very rare thing that a game developer will totally overhaul a game engine after releasing the game, and adding so much to it. For consumers atleast this is great news. But for SCS as a company, I have to question this decision from a business prespective. This isn't going to attract new customers, and bring those back to the game that didn't like it before. I suppose I could be wrong, because the next game they release, I'll buy without question. Their is always that!
ReplyDeleteGood to see that the game will become more stable. However i doubt that it will fix my ETS2 crashing every time i start the game. I know 50+ mods will not help this but it never used to have this problem. I now have to restart my career (was lvl 38) with no mods and this has made the gaming experience not as enjoyable.

-Volvo usually gets damaged when entering in a hotels if equipped with a lower bumper accessories
-revcounter in Iveco and Volvo
-Cheaper sideskirt on Iveco covers directly exhaust pipe. Mercs also.
-no radio in cheaper DAF, Volvo and Scania interiors but Iveco has two?!
-fuel comsuption same for all engines?
-tyre wear should be improved also - after only 10000km tyres have 15% damage and need replacement. If not damage transfers to trailer...

I hadn't thought about the tires that much, but after reading your post I looked around (it's been a LONG time since I drove HGV's) and came across Michelin, who offer a “7 Year / 700,000 Mile /3-Retread Manufacturer’s Limited Casing Warranty” on their long haul tires. What this means is that it is guaranteed to last for 700K miles on 3 retreads. So original tread, and then 3 retreads, comes down to each tread lasting 175K miles (281K km)! These are tires designed for usage of around 80K miles a year. Yes, I am this dull.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear news about this. I just wanted to comment on something.
I noticed the screenshot with the guy using multimonitor, and I assume that this new version will include side views. This is good, but I will post how I play, in case you want to know about the different playstiles people uses.
In my case I have 3x22" screens, at 5760x1080, all of them positioned in a straight line, meaning they are not positioned at my sides, but as a flat screen. I also have my cameras adjusted to 40-45 fov, instead of the default. I use TrackIR to look around, and this results in a very realistic view, as my side monitors are NOT deformed, and I have to look down even to see my steering wheel. The left mirrors is as fill all the screen height.
With this change I'm afraid that I will lose this hability and be "forced" to have, again, a small dashboard and a zoomed out view. I hope that at you let multimonitors users select if play as it is now, or with sideviews.
In any case I'll record a video from a camera and send you the link by email so you see my setup, in case you're curious.

The side views are optional. Currently there are three modes:
Delete1) Multi monitor oblivious. Considers entire image to be single extremely wide resolution. This is the current behavior of 1.3.1
2) Triple monitor aware UI. The UI elements are rendered on the middle monitor, the 3D image is stretched as with 1.
3) Three separate views with UI on the middle monitor.

Reading the other changes i hope the Volvo FH16 crash bug that was introduced with last patch will be fixed too?
I guess the list of changes is not complete anyway and just contains changes made from last beta patch, not last final patch.
Where are the new Euro 6 trucks? weren't they supposed to come out in the next patch?

I do not understand the meaning of this design solutions .. it's not very hard .. there are events from the user correctly correcting the interiors of cabins for all tractors .. it is realistic and doable .. and all the new chips SCS on the animation in the cockpit forced me to make a choice before the realism mod and the possibility of new animations in the cockpit .. and that's why me new animation? If I do not see them .. and what kind of realism is all about? if the towing vehicle with a low cabin interior with high :))))) .. Do not tell my sneakers ..

WOW !!! About Logitech, I have a G27 Steering Wheel and I love to play ETS2 (and 18WoS, ETS, GTS, UKTS, ScaniaTS, T&T).
ReplyDeleteI am a real truck driver, my truck is a 18 speed gearbox, (four gears Lo splitted + four gears Hi splitted and two reverse) the shifter has two buttons: the splitter button and the range button.
I would like very very much to have a Logitech shifter like the real, with the TWO BUTTONS in the knob. SCS and logitech are developing hardware to truck sims? If the answer is YES, Logitech has the G27 Wheel - perfect for ETS2, but needs an exclusive shifter to improve the experience. G27 is a great hardware to plat racing cars whith 4, 5 or 6 speeds, but a truck has 10, 12, 16, 18 speeds with spliter or both spliter and range buttons.
I use my G27 in the split/range config, simulating the two buttons with the B0 and B1 of the hardware. Could be muth better usinf a shifter developed by Logitech with the butons in it.

I was thinking about that too! I just hope that it would be possible then to buy the shifter seperately, so people with a G27 wouldn't have to buy a whole new steering wheel.

To access the telemetry you will need to write a plugin which will register with the game to receive notification about changes of values of various telemetry channels (e.g. position, speed,...). We plan to release documentation of the API together with the patch.

There is a lot of meat for the Logitech G27 steering wheel owners in this next patch. Too bad I can't afford one. Oh well, I'm waiting for DLC.

DeleteIt's going to be re-released soon, but Logitech don't want to say when exactly. That kinda pisses me off, because if I get impatient I might get a Fanatec. Other people waiting for the G27 might get some other wheel too. Logitech can really lose buyers this way.
Honestly dont buy a fanatec wheel. I had a fanatec GT3RS V2 and it broke three times within eitght months. I only sold the third replacement wheel three months ago.

ReplyDeleteIt takes time you find and fix the problems that the beta testers report, plus they are working on improving alot of the the problems that they find along the way, add to this they are working on extending the map, adding more truck models, and new features etc etc, it all takes time, meself and the other beta testers are working like crazy to help find the problems and report them to SCS, who in turn are working like mad to fix anything we find, so there is nothing else for you to do but wait until SCS deem the patch ready for release.

I agree. They complain when they have to wait and then when the patch isnt ready but put out to keep the whiners happy but its still not completely fixed the same people will complain that its not fixed with new trucks etc. Some of these people just cant be satisfied

DeleteYes we should be able to do store deliveries emptying the entire trailer by ourself with a wheeler/dolly and a ramp and go up and down ramp loading boxes onto wheeler and go up and down ramp repeatedly until or energy bar at top of screen has run out then we must argue with customer that we are short some boxes. After we have to take a shit like the sims and drive to next stop eating fat foods like burgers fries and drinking alcohol while driving extremely tired. Welcome to the life of a delivery driver not a trucker ;)

WoT is free to play game(!) and players get updates with new tanks etc. almost every month! They had 6 updates in the same time we had only 2 updates (1.2.5 in November and 1.3.1 in February). SCS wake up! People need updates! I really hope for a new patch until May ends.

DeleteThe companies behind those F2P games get constant income from so calked "microtransactions", used for constant development.
Companies like SCS get money only once for their games.
Just name 3 game companies (not F2P) that support their games as much as SCS does. The only company I can think of is Polyphony Digital (from Gran Turismo). EA, Codemasters, Ubisoft etc all release games that are full of bugs, but rarely fix any of them.
I can't name 3 companies, because I don't play so much games. SCS games are different from others. We don't have storyline or career like in other games so we can't compare it with anything. When you buy a game with single player, you spend several hours to finish the full game and then you put this game on your shelf or you play it again. Nobody tells develeopers to update or redevelop single player in their games because everybody knows that they can't change storyline. They can only make DLC's, and DLC is very popular novadays. ETS2 is game that never ends, and the only thing you can do is driving, and this driving is boring after some time, so the updates with new content are needed to keep this game alive and players interested. SCS is not a Activision and they are not releasing every year a game that mililons buy.

These are really interesting news regarding to the upcoming patch. Splitting up the map into several sectors will be of help to create much larger maps. I guess you know that there are several teams working on big projects. Their mappers will appreciate this feature. Even in addition to the asynchronous loading this may allow to create really large and complex maps and so you´ll get a bunch of heavily satisfied customers. :D
ReplyDeleteFor best playability of these projected maps there`s just one issue left. The maps for job- and garage-management would need some improvement. Under the given circumstances they get smaller and smaller when the world-map gets larger. Are you working on this, too?
