Arizona Teasing

We have been working hard on Arizona DLC for American Truck Simulator already for several weeks before we have shipped the initial release edition of the game. We are making great progress, but there is still al lot of content left to be finished. We don't have a release date to announce yet, but there should not be more than a couple of months of solid work ahead us, plus the final testing and polishing stage. Maybe we should try to use the Open Beta approach for Arizona, what do you think?

Anyway, we thought you may be happy to see a couple of screenshots as part of the confirmation that we are firmly committed to giving you Arizona soon...

    1. +1 Open Beta would be great at the same time ETS2 got an open beta so :)

    2. One of the suggestions I made after ATS was released, was that it should have been an open beta. That would have helped to highlight the issues we all had with the cops and intersections. Perhaps the beta testers were all too polite.

    3. Yeah a system of open beta like ETS2 will be greate :)

    4. Nothing about ATS will ever be "great", not unless they scrap it, go back to the drawing board, and begin again...sadly even if they did, I'd never see it, but I doubt they will anyway.

They are lazy and uninspired, and I don't believe the US map will ever be complete, because people will quickly tire of waiting for yet another costly, tiny map state.

I for one wouldn't pay for another state on this scale, and doubt I'll bother visiting Arizona when it's released (it will be automatically added on Steam, otherwise I wouldn't even bother downloading it)..I'm just bored with the game, haven't played it in about a fortnight, and only forced myself to reach the level where I could have top spec truck.

I can honestly say I've never become so bored with anything as quickly as I have with ATS..after about 4 hours I had to force myself to actually play it.

    5. Whole ATS should be OPEN BETA !!!

      - When are you going to fix hovering ai cars on the freeways !?
      - When are you going to fix raining in tunnel in Carson City !? ETS had this problem when it came out, you would of think by now you already know how to build map with proper tunnels !

You crammed a lot of assets in the cities, reduced the scale of the map making it look so ridiculous, mashed together a bunch of cities(especially California) and now we have bare roads, a joke for freeways instead of keeping the scale from ETS2 have more details on the freeways and more secondary roads with some details as well, as most of the drive is done there anyways, who spends time in the cities anyways. The desert roads in Nevada looks short and fails to show the vastness of it all. I can see some googled elements there like the "roller coaster road" or "endless straight road" but decided to place the road between two dunes of sand on sides instead of drawing more flat terrain to give it a feel of vast land...

Build more freeways, more side roads more job locations outside the cities on remote locations, maybe have some uncharted gravel roads to lead at those jobs...

If i want to drive around the city i can play GTA, anyway they make a far better job the you guys in designing cities...

I come to ATS/ETS for LONG HAUL cargo delivery NOT door to door package delivery !!! Even the truck/trailer models in the game reflect that !

    10. Some of you don't understand how much time take to create a game. Personnaly i have be invited some times in UBISOFT to test some games like Assassin's creed. But i think you think the time to developped a game is between the last opus and th release of the game but NO. For the Assins creed franchise they have always 2 Games after the release in developpement so it take 5-8 years to develop a game. Here SCS have create ATS in 2 years It a big job so be respectfull...

    11. @Damien Leick
You must be new to SCS games.I've played the game since the start, and made 100 % map. Basically the engine is the same as on their second release: 18 WoS: Across America, all they did was push it very little with every new game.
They removed major features years ago and never brought them back even tho the modding community went apeshit about it. "we always have the mod community" -say what? What is left of the actual modder community? A bunch of lego playing wannabes that never went trough the struggle of actually working on models. Name me one good model that has been made exclusively for ETS2! All the Scanias are based on Sh3yr0's old one he made for PttM, which is still state of the art. Most of the scratch modelers are long gone and all you guys get is recycled and stolen stuff. Thanks to SCS for their great support and help they gave to the modding community, eh? Seriously, I'm not a hater, I'm just disappointed to see no progress even after 12 Years of being part of the community, being part of the greatest time for their games. Nowadays the community is nothing compared to what people did years ago. But yeah, go ahead and call everyone a hater, even tho they just wanted something better.
Better job could be done if they copied everything from Long Haul and paste it here.

I'm sick of paying 20 - 30€ every 1 - 2 years and get nothing but a improved graphic engine. much rather have features, like actual air suspension, actual real container shipping, actual working double pivot points and so on, the list is quite long and of my list i made years ago the only thing i was able to remove from the list was tag axles. Well, thanks for that SCS, took you only 10 years to implement it since we first asked for it!
The only new feature is larger trailers, all else we already saw it in ETS 2. No new physics, no new UI design, no realistic crashes, no interaction with the world you're driving in. They could just done it as an expansion or DLC for ETS 2 and start developing a better game instead of a reskin of old game engine mechanics. I hope ETS 3 comes out, right now if you mod GTA V with some real-branded trucks and a scripted mod to emulate ATM would be a better experience that SCS showed me with these "game features".

  8. And yet again something that isn´t about ETS2, for crying out loud we want news about Euro Truck Simulator 2 and it´s future not about the Arizona DLC, which by the way looks exactly the same as the other parts of the map and no variations to it what so ever. I know that you guys posted a blog post about the Steam WS but that wasn´t much about ETS2 only which would be much nicer than seeing this all the time.

And for those guys that think I hate ATS then you are completely right as I do. It is a total copy paste with only the trucks and map changed nothing else

    7. how much different did you expect ats to be? Also stop assuming you speak for the masses, that we all want and care about the same topics as you do. And to paulo freire of course it looks the same those 3 sates are mostly desert same for new mexico and utah.

      Delete
    8. @Paulo Freire, no fucking shit they look the same. The 2 biggest countries in the map, excluding the DLC maps, is UK and Germany which both were PRE-BUILD. Do you fucking understand what it means? Both of them were made in the year 2009 and 2010 so no wonder they look basically the same as scs uses the same fucking assets in the map

    3. Does anyone know how much they've actually made from ETS2.?

They certainly haven't been reinvesting much of it into the SCS future...maybe they're actually hoping a huge games company comes along and makes them an offer for SCS which will allow the bosses to retire, and their workforce will be kept on as part of the deal.

      Delete
    4. @Art Goggles, they made approximately 29 million from that game and counting but you gotta keep a notice that over 60 people work for them FULL TIME so there will be payouts to the monthly salary for approximately 40 to 50k euros which is 3 million a month. By this I´m saying they are loosing money more than earning...

      Delete
    5. Adamisch you suck at math dude or just have no ideea about czech salaries ? How much do you think a scs coder get ?
Even after you add all the taxes that they have to pay they have yet to reach 3mil/year yeah 3mil/yeah not month... Maybe 3 mil if scs CEO gets salary and bonus 1 mil yeah maybe, but for sure not 3mil/month..
And dont you worry about scs, they are making plenty of money dude, what do yo think they are charity ? Even charities skim off the top ;)

  27. SCS: Slightly off-topic, but is there the ability to add an enhanced weather element to the game? I'm talking, wind storms (that actually affect driving), torrential downpours (lose traction), and even the chance of a tornado (in which the player would have to be vigilant). Thanks so far for a great game! I have no concern with time it takes to get things out as the detail thus far has been incredible.

  43. This game is not as good as they presented it. In the previous game, you could purchase (expensive) upgrades for your truck that did nothing. It was annoying. New tires - Improves handling or has better wear characteristics? Nope, does nothing. New, fancier sleeping bunk for your rig - reduces sleeping time needed for your driver from 8hr to 7hr? Nope, does nothing. New aerodynamic side-skirts for your rig - Improves airflow and fuel economy? Nope, does nothing. New transmission for $10k - improves fuel economy or torque output? Does nothing.

Out of ALL the things you could buy, the engine was one of the only actual upgrades that did anything. Having all of the upgrades being purely cosmetic and inconsequential really hurt my enjoyment of the game. Does this game do that too?

    Open beta please :-)

That's nice but it's a bit sad you're recycling the buildings and you also seem to keep ignoring the very basic layout most american cities have, which is intersection with gas station in one corner, used cars dealership in the other, fast-food restaurant in the other and usually some kind of store or a supermarket in the last one.

  62. This news is slightly disturbing as the news was that this dlc would appear for free shortly after the games released. I am usually a great supporter of SCS and have patience, but I find this a little annoying, it seems that SCS rushed this game out to try and please everyone. Try and do better SCS

  66. Care about DLC prices, fan hates those companies who only make cosmetic work on their products and make a lot of fancy publicity. Actually the game scale are toooo little and that makes the intercity highway really boring and out of detail, i think the game should improve that maybe making more areas of 1:3.
Lack of truck, absolutly, plz SCS we only got 3!!
Lack of gameply, same, you only can go to gas and motel? I really like can have a soda and restore my driving time, or maybe take a hamburger, why not stop in the casino and play a in.game minigame or just pick up my own trailer from my own yard and bring it to load in diferents company and deliver in diferent points....much work to do SCS!! dont disapoint "US"... we alredy are on it, actually we got a PTTM in HD graphics but much little map

    1. I'm perfectly fine with the scale. If you did 1:3, instead of taking 45 minutes to 1 hour to go from Eureka to Centro, it would take more like 6 hours.

      Delete
    2. They should of at least keep the scale of ets2 map. I feel like im playing city driving simulator and not american truck simulator !

      Delete
    3. It is the same scale of the ETS2 map. In ETS2 it took about 90 minutes to go from east to west. Since we only have two states in ATS, it seems smaller.

      Delete
    4. Dude you must really be a big twat or something. You do realize that the driving distance is about the same in this 2 examples you given. A journey from debrecen to callais 1100 miles in ets2 1100 is simmilar as a journey jackpot to san diego 950 in ats, but it takes you about twice as long to cover it in ets2 the it takes you in ats not going past 55 in both games. This not to take in consideration that you can have a smooth ride on the higway in ets2 while in ats you have to go through 2 way lane, towns and traffic lights to get from one to the other.

    6. You really are a thicko Chakat Blackspots...in ETS2 one hour of game time outside of the cities takes 3 mins 7 secs...in ATS one hour of game time takes 1 min 45 secs...

It doesn't seem smaller, it IS smaller, both the scale of the tiny map, and the speeded up timescale.

I can drive from San Diego to Hornbrook in 16 mins 30 secs with no load...you couldn't go far on the ETS2 map in that time even without a load.

    1. A few months is like seconds in SCS time.!

  68. Ha ha ha there is SCS for you...

A couple of months eh...!? You have reduced the scale so much that driving in ATS is so ridiculous, now you are saying that you need a couple of months do finish Arizona after you took 2 years to make California and Nevada on this tiny scale??? So it is safe to say that you need more or less 6 months for 1 state... Once again proof right in my eyes that this game is nothing more then a DLC... a way to milk some more money from an old and obsolete engine that needed to be scrapped long time ago.
You need to get in with the time SCS and build a new trucking game on a new platform for the years to come !

    1. But of course they are going to keep milking this shit for all they can, as long as all these sad losers on here keep heaping undeserved praise on them.

    2. They have already add new truks ( K W900 ). Developping a game is very very very hard work. For a first realease, the game is good. The probleme is you take ETS2 for model. But at release ETS2 was not more developped than ATS

      Delete
    3. I can only assume you're yet another shill Damien...we're all sick of hearing how "very very very hard work" it all is, and "SCS are just a small company"

They've been doing this for long enough now to know what they're doing, and releasing a copy and paste of ETS2 as a "new" game is pathetic, and an insult to all of us who've supported them since the original ETS came out in 2008.

So they added a W900 which was promised at release...wow.!

They'll be unlikely to ever get licence for non PACCAR trucks...maybe Volvo if they're very very very lucky.

"For a first realease, the game is good" ..what bollocks. For a start it's NOT a "first release", it was released in 2012 under the title ETS2.

It's a poor quality, tiny mapped and reduced time scale version of ETS2 with some different scenery.

      ETS2 - 1 game hour equals 3 min 7 secs real time

ATS - 1 game hour equals 1 min 45 secs real time

      What a joke.!

    4. Damien Leick im starting to suspect that you are a SCS pawn or lacky. Who are you trying to convince here about how "good" and "hardworking" SCS is, me or your self ?
ATS is not a brand new game made from scratch its not even a rebooted version of ETS2, it is the same game on a "new" map that borrows assets from Scandinavia dlc. So dont go around talking about how hard and time consuming is to make a new game becaus it doesnt stick with ATS.
A new game, yes it is time consuming and thats why i am urging SCS to start making one, because i know its not an easy feat and more over this being SCS and being notorious for their slow productivity... i would love to be able to play a new trucking game from them in my life span...
Take a good look at both of this games ETS2(Scandinavia) and ATS and you will be amazed of the similarities... ATS is ETS2 version 1.22, yes you can not compare ETS2 v1.0 with ATS v1.0, logical, one was released more then 3 years ago while the other just came out this year. ATS should of been the next step, or at least that is what i was hoping for, and from there the disappointment.
One truck(with so few upgrades) its not much. Take a look at the modding community and the content they are releasing and the time it takes, and a lot of them are kids that have learned from watching tutorials on youtube, and then take a look at SCS "hard work".
The problem it is not only the amount of content that they are releasing but also the game it self, it is still the same game from a decade again, no new features, no new economy model, they are still using and old renderer and thus limit them self so much on what they can do. I realize that there is no real need of implementing dx12 at this time, but they have a hard time even implementing dx11 or dx10, and chances are they will never do it for this 2 games so that will leave us playing this games that can not be improved much for another 3 or 4 years...

SCS they should of learned from ETS2 and bring all to good parts over to ATS and leave the bad parts behind, but instead what did they do, they copied ETS2 used the assets from SCAndinavia, added a bit extra and crammed everything together on a tiny map, and to make it worst they striped it from some features that we already have in ETS2 aswell to make even worst.
WHERE ARE THE INTERIOR ACCESSORIES from ATS ??? They came last year for ETS2 as dlc, and we payed for it, it was only normal to do so, you can not expect the sales of ets2 from 2012 to pay for the game until now... but why are they not in ATS ? Or maybe SCS is waiting some time before they release it as a free update or even worst as a dlc again, and saying hey look we have new content for ATS. All of this and more should of been in ATS already, the map should of been at least double in size...
But like i said the biggest problem is the game it self, ATS should of been the next step for SCS to bring something new to the table to make me support their games for the years to come, but instead they where only able to copy/paste...

      Delete
    5. The Interior Accessories DLC should´ve been a free update instead of a freaking DLC. Damn these greedy cunts at SCS

you need to make Another new american truck sim from scratch
MOST OF US ARE NOT HAPPY with this copy from ETS2
BECAUSE YOU NEVER LIST TO US
all of us never wanted a duplicate from ETS2
is your own fault for making this ETS2 duplicate plus you took 3 years to make this little 2 maps and you are saying that you got over 50+ workers for what to clean your Ass everyday wen you us the bathroom and now 5 to 6 months for Another little map SCS you shout let an older company take over you lost your touch
    SCS
IS LIKE YOU ARE SELLING US A CAR Disguised As BRAND NEW CAR BUT UNDER THE HOOD IS A OLD AND BEAT UP ENGINE

    1. Scs want to get rich while they still can. To make another game takes a lot of resources and time, more over when you have so lazy and incompetent staff.
SCS are selling us the same car for more then 10 years, but every 2 or 3 years they change the paint, put new tires and then sell it again as whole new car..

    2. Don't take your opinion for a generality . Not everyone are not happy.

      Delete
    3. Most are disappointed at what we got after a wait of almost 3 years...not a new game.

Even if you're enjoying it, you can't claim it's new, but a poor copy and paste of ETS2

It is boring in the extreme, leaving you very quickly with nowhere to go. I've got 44 other drivers, all with top spec W900's, over $10 million in the bank, and can't buy another garage until the next tiny maped state is released in what will no doubt end up at least 6 months on SCS time.

The game is little more than a scam, a complete con, and if they'd released a free demo before the actual game, thousands of sales would have been lost.

I have ZERO respect for SCS as a company now.

  71. I have a question ? When u finish this game ? If u will make one state in two months, simple calculation 2months for one state so = 2 * 52 states = 104 months = around 12 years ? Do You really want to make this game 12 years ? Some one will make the same game much faster and better...

Of course you'll feel a big sore having slept slumped over your steering wheel ;)

  75. "We have been working hard..." You tend to over use the term "working hard" but i fail to see that hard work in both of your games...
May i remind you that you took 1 year for each of those map dlc in ETS2, and Europe it is long way from being finished, and ATS doesnt look better even though is on a tiny scale compared to ETS2.

SCS it is time you put to rest prism3d and start from scratch on a new platform to bring trucking games in the present !

Make a real commitment on a brand new game on a brand new engine with a proper renderer and players will support you by buying dlc's for ATS/ETS2 until the new game comes out !

ATS is not that good. I just hope ETS3 be good like ETS2 on hes time and still are. Hey SCS how about a Grafikk update for ETS2? or tandem, how about spania portugal and Ibiza map free update.
