The great guys at our UK publishing partner Excalibur Publishing have come up with a very cool idea to help promote Euro Truck Simulator 2 - a unique competition with a chance to win a Heavy Goods Vehicle driving course. Check it out!
Will there ever be any more realistic use of water and oil temperature simulation in ETS2? I don't see why i should care about those temps now and they seem to change at random with no effect on anything, also after cold start motor seem to heat up unrealistically fast!
I'm just guessing but I think HGT will be a game like STDS that is yet to come out? Why else would they offer in an open forum a real job only good in the European union. The drawing isn't till August so we have time to wait and see. And no harm filling out the app., it's actually fun.
I don't understand what you are saying. HGT will be a game like STDS? What has this little comptetition to win a driving course has to do with any of it?
" ...very cool idea to help promote Euro Truck Simulator 2..." Is this about promoting ETS2 or a way to advertise HGV Training schools ( http://www.easyashgv.co.uk/ ). I will not say this is SPAM but I have serious doubts about the real purpose behind this and I don't really agree with the way they try to attract ETS2 gamers to join their programs. Hoping I"m wrong in my opinion...
Great idea! And good luck from the US! ETS2 actually inspired me to get into Truck Driving here after deciding that I needed a change from public safety. Start school in late September/October. Can't wait!
SCS, this is huge. Do you realize that promo your partners (CD Projekt, Excalibur, SCANIA) doing is almost, almost comparable with promo actions for biggest games in the world? Another proof you created something unique, something with much bigger potential than anybody could imagine before.
Good luck to all contestants in this Excalibur's challenge. God bless them for advertising our beloved studio.
It is nice way to promote your game, but I think you should tell the people this job really looks like. I mean that we who already have HGV & LGV licences, can't find job, so there is no chance for rookies.
From your fan JD: Hey guys, I want to ask you to create a system within ECS Missions, the missions can give more realistic simulation, give something of the success of Bus Driver but far better, with more difficult missions, inhospitable terrain and situations. I wish to achieve realistic simulation software but entertaining! Take the best of ETS2 (boring experience without changes) and Bus Driver (missions and nothing else) to make a game infinitely exciting, with daily missions ranging from difficulty every day! I like to drive in the city picking up and dropping passengers also articulated buses driving 2 or 3 vagons for a massive public transport, I am sure that you are able to link all these things and make a great and very successful game, much better Euro Truck 2.
You can make a really Simulator Euro Coach exciting game, realistic and entertaining! Thank you for your hard work! Coach Simulator Euro will buy just hit the market. And share the information with my friends if I convinced;) sorry for my english, greetings from Bogota, Colombia!
Has the legal age now been changed for driving trucks as it used to be 21 minimum . If it has not been changed anyone 18 to 21 will not be able to do the course
I think SCS is run by EA people because they seem to have the same treatment towards paying customers. Its such a shame, I thought SCS cared about there players. We seem to care for them because of how active we keep this blog, Surely they could show the same care in return and stop writing dribble / useless infomation. Come on SCS get your act together and don't become like EA.
Nope, there's no point. Comparing SCS and EA is about comparing uncomparable. Totally different situation. Who reads the blog really carefully knows for long time that 99% of entries are written by SCS's CEO Mr Sebor. He doing it in his free time. there is no PR department, SCS rather re-invest money into game/technology developing. Second, there's probably still nothing to write about. Do you think that so small studio can develop a thing worth of blogging every few days?
Well there is a point in there, It doesn't matter how big or small, Its how you treat your paying customers. The news is never anything decent about what they are doing, other then talking about promotions or stats. Its all about how you deal with your customers and how active / interested you keep them even with the smallest of details.
No software company will tease you with every small detail and there are few good reasons why. If they eventually do that, they will learn a lesson soon. As SCS learned, I believe.
E a expansão do mapa? Aquela expansão do leste europeu? O moders estão melhores que vocês SCS! O truckSim Map sem a África, está evoluindo mais rápido e está bem melhor já.
scs of the retrovissores scania then in the wrong position, because the holders of the retro camera is fixed on the inner front speaker 2 on 2 external camera is right at the bottom of the door, well below the command up and down windows, being run this position in other nests pach pach 1.3.1 to 1.2.5.1 were right. sorry bad english!!
I know this promotion is probably great for you people in Europe, but in America I think the game REALLY needs a new patch. And plz fix this bug: http://forum.scssoft.com/download/file.php?id=330
No, I mean the game needs a patch, but for people in Europe who can participate in this contest might not play the game as often because they would be busy.
hi scs soft, could you please add some of japanese trucks like hino profia, isuzu gigamax, mitsubishi super great, nissan ud quon, and add iveco strator? ;)
dude, I had this problem, but when I removed the only mod I had (a map mod), it went away. so try removing some mods and good luck for if your save game gets screwed up! lol
game out 4th quarter 2012. 2nd quarter 2013.....no patches, no DLC, and a game that is just about to go on the shelf cause I don't want to start over again for a new patch or upgrade. Now with the lose of StreetSurfer1962 on the TSM team, we don't have much to hold on to. This is the only real over the road hauler out there, and waiting is not my best attribute.
Yeah, with other games, they don't even give patches or fixes because they don't give a sh*t how crappy their games are because they only care about making money.
paulskiApril 29, 2013 at 6:03 PM you mean those useless patches? no new at all in them, only volvo logo which is already done by third-party modders. game is boring, no scenario, no challenges. and game isn't simulator at all. some arcade style. real simulator is like omsi. where fuul working panels with buttons, opening windows and so on.. engine of ets2 is ok. but other stuff is poor
Useless??? Those patches fixes so many bugs... graphics issues, some of AI issues, gaming world, gaming system, engine performance...
Nothing new??? There are new items for truck upgrading, AI bus, some German autobahns are much less boring now (as well as there are improvements in other areas)... Those are things which other companies would release as paid DLCs! We have them for free.
And not only Volvo, but also DAF and Iveco were added during patch period as official brands. It took remarkable amount of time to negotiate all that legal stuff.
There is there is significant difference between 1.0/zero day patch and current 1.3.1 version. But why I'm boring with you. http://www.eurotrucksimulator2.com/update.php There is list of all fixes and game upgrades, everyone can make sure how big liar you are.
First of, this is just my thoughts about ETS 2. I have the game and I like it. And as a fan of simulators, in general, I know that many will agree with some points that I will propose.
Euro Truck is a good game in many points: long roads, many cities, good graphics, physics, etc. But it lacks some elements that would make the simulation more realistic... Currently, the simulation is very simplistic, the trucks should have their functional features. Details we find in modern trucks today, such as: adaptive cruise control, rain and light sensor, lane keep assisting, active brake assistance, tyre pressure monitoring, brake wearing... and more.
We can't compare ETS 2 to the flight simulators, But most know that they are much more complex. Even so, game companies have managed to create games that simulates every control of an airplane.
Let's look at OMSI: it was made by a small team, the game has inferior graphics, but the feel of simulation is more deeper. The dashboard of the bus has so many buttons and functionalities.
I think the ETS2 can improve accordingly and it deserves it.
If the game was a finished product at the time of purchase then that would be true. We wouldn't need modders or the modding community. But we do ALOT. This game is as is not done by any means. Don't get me wrong this still is the standard for trucking sims. But to put out a game incomplete, relling on the modding comunity to finish your work (which we did pay for, and in most cases will pay more) for a completed work. They have test marketed this game on us to see what we want and like for both this game and future games. Cool. But don't leave us hanging after almost 6 months. It's tought times out there and I have lots of options on where to spend my money. Been looking at the BUS sims cause of the indepth game play, something ETS2 does not have. This all stems from "there" promise, "we will not leave the ETS2 fans out and will continue to update and provide DLC for the game." Just saying.Had they not said that I would be ok with what I have and live with it. Now put up or shut up. I have trouble looking to new products when the old ones aren't as promised.
Ive put my view on this on steam and on twitter. but the UK roads are not realistic. the road signs are wrong, the road markings are wrong and the sliproads are wrong. i feel they havent put enough research into the game. 2 examples is the motorway signs have no junction numbers on between London and Cambridge there is 5 junctions between the M25 and the turnoff for Cambridge in RL but in the sim it's just one turn off and it shows cambridge to be on the left.. when its on the right. heading towards swansea the sign again with no Juction number said swansea to the left and liverpool/manchester straight on when heading out of Cardiff which again is wrong as the M4 is the wales <-> london motorway. if you followed those signs in real life you end up in St Davids. I guess im being fussy but the Train Sim i got is far more realistic in terms of distance, platforms signs and scenery. the game designers for Eurotruck just took one country and used it as the template for the rest of europe, its kinda lazy desgin there
Do not believe that even SCS's homeland, the Czech Republic, is made more realistic. It's like you can recognize what they meant by this and that. Some parts are even far, far from reality, some roads are completely wrong, not to mention road signs. (But bits here and there are lovely, when you realize that exactly this thing you meet in real life too).
On the other hand, game designers must always do compromises between realism, gameplay and reasonable investment of time & money into game development. I don't want to start again that neverending discussion about the word "Simulator" in the "Euro Truck Simulator" title. But I believe that SCS's titles are first games, then simulations. They are designed like that from beginning, without deep focus on simulation and realism by intent. To be playable by wide audience and to be developed as quickly as possible.
People also often forget how small team SCS are. I can't imagine they have enough human resources for proper research and then for including everything from knowledge base into games. (Check ETS2 credits.)
So in the end, I'm taking SCS's games as they are. Funny, entertaining and relaxing games. I'm not expecting deep realism/simulation, I'm not expecting deep research of real world, just enjoying good games.
PS - you are right that "real road network" is exaggerated, but you know... show me an ad saying truth. :-D
