Rounding up the set!

We are happy to confirm that we now have the official approval to start building a new truck - Mercedes-Benz New Actros will be coming to Euro Truck Simulator 2!

Implementing a new truck model into the game is a time consuming adventure on the order of several months, so please be patient with us.

Once the New Actros is completed, we will have reached the dream scenario of having fully branded trucks from all seven major European truck manufacturers in our game. Frankly, four years ago when we started the first round of approaching truck companies, we were far from sure if we can ever reach this stage. From that point onwards, we would love to be able to keep up with model refreshes as well as take a look at alternate vehicle configurations, product lines, or specialized rigs.

There are now 3 trucks in various stages of completion under development for ETS2, but also 3 more truck models are under development at the same time for American Truck Simulator! (Well and then some coach buses too for yet another project). The vehicle team at SCS has grown to 4x the size it was two years ago, all thanks to never-ceasing support from our fans and customers. Some of you might dislike us spending time working on paint job packs for Steam, but in reality such work is not a distraction, it is buying us time to improve the game that was released on the market a year and a half ago, while also developing new projects in parallel.

As with most new truck models we are going to build, first we took a detailed look at the actual vehicle, kindly provided to us by Mercedes-Benz Czech Republic.

This is a short mini-documentary from the day when we recorded the engine sounds, took lots of detailed reference photos and measurments, and recorded hours of driving footage. You can see that Spring is here early this year including quick April weather swings from sun to rain and back. We were also troubled by crazy birds chirping all over the place and interfering with our attempts to record clean sounds. But we were all too excited to complain!

  1. It would still be nice to hear some news about American Truck sim! All you said was you were working on 3 trucks. What kind of trucks? When is the release date? How much will it be? There are still so many questions you guys are voiding out.

    1. The new 3 trucks will be Mercedes-Benz MP4, Renault T and DAF XF Euro 6. (Look at their tweeter)

It is hard to predict MAN TGX Euro 6 and a next expansion DLC that will come later...

    2. As anonymous mentioned above the three trucks that SCS is referring too are the Actros MP4,Renault T and the DAF XF Euro 6. A truck needs about 6 months to be made before they give it to us. The introduced to us the Daf in November 2013 and it might come this month or in May.

    3. I think, he was asking about new trucks for upcoming American Truck Simulator.

    4. Yes. I think the part where he said "nice to hear some news about American Truck sim" right before asking about the three trucks might've been the clue he was referring to the three trucks being made for ATS and not ETS2.

I am curious if SCS got licensing for the American trucks as they mentioned in a blog post here they were going to a certain American truck company (Kenworth) to have discussions with them.. aaaaand we never heard anymore about it. You'd think if they had a positive result they would have told us since they felt it news-worthy to tell us they were planning to go lol.

    5. glad they finally got the license from Mercedes, now all we need is a new challenge to the game, some kind of gamplay like in 18 wheels of steel, across america, where you could choose to compete against 3 other companies to make your first million

    1. good work as always SCS, maybe a quick investigation tough, the steam paint packs DLC, as not many of us seem truly inmterested in them, how about instead of the paints, you could maybe do your own style of tunig parts like the modders do like a set of lamps or bars, think some of us may be more eagre fro them, just a thought though.

Jen bych se chtěl zeptat, SCS, máte k dispozici více typů/modelů když nahráváte zvuk? Aby byly co nejpřesnější?

  13. Congratulations SCS to reach the goal! Beautiful work you guys are doing.

But please SCS, do not cover the sounds as happened to the Scania V8. Apart from the exhaust sounds, it doesn't sound anything like a Scania V8 (though the I6 sounds great). People with basic sound setup will have poor quality sounds anyway, it doesn't seem to make sense adapting recorded sounds to match various sound setups.
Hope it makes sense for you! Keep up the good work!

That doesn't mean they got "official approval" for the Mercedes currently in game, so it may very well remain as it is, as a 'Majestic'.

  30. since now you have license from mercedes maybe you should ask them for the official gearbox ranges and update them on the MP3 as well and do so some sound tuning as well, i don't want to hear that noisy vacuum cleaner inside the MP3

    ReplyDelete
  31. So... Will you just blandly change the Majestic logo to a MB logo without updating the model like you did with DAV/DAF or will you actually make a proper new model this time? (or atleast update it)

And will you ever update the old models (driving a MAN is just aweful at the moment)

What vehicles for ETS, ECS and ATS are you working on at the moment?

Also, does this mean that the chances of getting Freightliner's license are bigger as well?

Anyway, good news about MB, congratulations. Never been a big fan of MB, but that new truck looks absolutly amazing.

    1. I don't even understand why they felt the need to dumb the physics down. Even in the wet you could never lose control in this "simulator". Anyone who has found the physics realistic or difficult in ETS2 has never been near a truck, not even as a passenger.

      Delete
    2. Exactly, but at least before it was a little more realistic now they are teaching 1,000's of people who bought this game post 1.9 who think "Oh driving a truck is easy, it's just like a big car"
More ignorant rude and clueless people on the road who shouldn't even be behind the wheel of a virtual truck.

  40. some people complain SCS too slow to released the new things.
SCS is not EA,Ubi soft,They are not Big and AAA company, have are over hundred people to Develop the game, they are small company

I'm truck game fans since 2002 they released Hard Truck 18 Wheels of Steel series, every year scs released the new version 18 Wheels of Steel, and that time every fans would know the game 85% gameplay was same shit, but no one would care, because we know truck game is not big genus in the game world

I just hope some casual fans need give the respect to SCS

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think SCS just doesn't really get it yet. They said they're making 9 models for 3 diffrent games. If theyd focus more they could make 9 models for 1 game. SCS doesnt get that more games = more money and more free updates = less money.
I'm not a fan of the big companies being greedy, pushing out shit to make lots of money (EA). But I think SCS should offer less 'service' (that's the updates).
ETS2 is old. It's got things that are behond fixing (highway entrances/exits, the economic model, the small cities, the lack of real challenges, etc...). So I don't get why theyre still paying attention to a game thats dead in the water already. Sure it's nice. I lie the new trucks and recently I fell in love with ETS 2 again. But let's be honest now, sales of ETS 2 are not going to increase because of the updates.
If they make a new game now (ATS, ECS) they'll make money again and thus get more money and thus have more options to expand the company.

SCS knows what to improve for future games, so they can make the future games better...
Anyway, that's my basic economical point of view.

But also, the truck simulator market has had a boom since ETS 2. It got way more attention from the mainstream game media (due to the graphics I guess), so I guess the demands concerning quality, gameplay, graphics and what not have risen.

IDK, but I honestly think SCS could do a bit better, but more importantly, SCS should do what they did during the development for ETS 2: keep in touch with the community. Just look at blogpost from the pre-ETS2 era. SCS should do that with ATS too to keep fans and people who were waiting for an American truck sims since the beginning of the Euro-phase.

      That's just my 2 cents.

  41. wow really again update for ETS2? why not more news about ATS stage 1 release..i was thinking end of 2014..but now i think mid 2015...you need to tell us more about ATS and its current state..i know that ETS2 is still your baby..but 2-3 posts about ATS wouldn't hurt..

  43. wohoo 3 new trucks. this is so amazing.
can you say anything about new map dlcs?
    http://youtu.be/n6uEjlf1jbE

    ReplyDelete
  44. Trucks shouldn't take as long this time, as I understand it, apparently some people in the modeling community have spotted some ATS models that appear to be purchased from a certain 3D model company.

Then they just have to spend a bit of time adapting them to ATS or ETS2 games.

I think this will be the norm, in the future, for SCS, as they are starting to take on several projects at once, yet development team isn't growing proportionately for all these new projects.

I don't think truck models/brand permission is finalised for ATS yet, or they would have mentioned it in this post rather than just mentioning "3 more truck models are under development at the same time for American Truck Simulator".

If they don't get permission (which I dont think they will), they will take badges off and make them generic names.

    ReplyDelete
  45. But Seriously , is there people to buy your shitty painjob pack on steam ? And what would you do with only 2$ more ? You cannot do some extension map , which will be more popular ? I think most people are waiting for the completion of western-europe (Portugal , Spain , France , Italy)

    1. You have a point. They never seem to have the right focus on what to do with ETS 2. Adding trucks is fine. But Its game play that needs Improving. They should be focusing on more things to do within the world. Truck drivers don't just drive from point A to point B. There needs to be more ways to deliver cargo. Also having trailers loaded and unloaded, Not just pressing T. Wait times while trailers are loaded/unloaded. Even a contract system. Stock Market, Other AI Companies to work against and beat for contracts. Better way of Hiring Drivers and Improving Garages. Being able to communicate with your drivers. More Interactive Game play.

  46. Dear SCS Software

Please fix Euro Truck Simulator 2 1.9xx patch Physics.

There are allot of people including me very unhappy about the new physics that came in the 1.9xx patch. As physics is a major part of the game myself and many have reverted back to patch 1.8.2.5 because of the disappointment in driving experience caused by the change in physics from 1.9xx patch. It takes away all challenge and makes the game into a arcade and not a simulator.

The new 1.9.xx physics from you at SCS have made the chassis too rigid and compensated for it with increased cab movement. YOU CAN GO AROUND A CORNER AT RIDICULOUS SPEED AND NOT CAUSE YOUR TRAILER TO TIP OVER LIKE IN PREVIOUS PATCHES. Why did you do this ?

The files have been changed in a way that makes it impossible for any modder to make any worthwhile change to the physics, so anyone trying is fighting a losing battle until you at SCS fix it.

Behaviour of the truck and trailer is described “somewhere else”, and this place is known only by you at SCS.
The new AI is a very welcome improvement, but the physics changes are baffling.

The Euro Truck Simulator 2 community that support you at SCS Software ask that you please fix these physics changes you have made and restore it to how it was or allow us to improve the behaviour of the truck and trailer by informing us as to were the physics changes are as you have removed the from the physics.sii file.
We are only trying to make this great game as realistic as possible.

The realistic physics mod created for 1.8.2.5 was very close to real life physics and enjoyed my many many people but is sadly not possible in version 1.9xx because you at SCS have felt the need to change the physics of the game for the worst.

    Thanks

    1. +1 I can't argue with any of that. You raised some very good points you might want to take this to the forum sometimes some of the devs from Scs look at threads on there

      Delete
    2. Even 1.8.2.5 was nowhere near realistic.

To get the truck & trailer to rollover I had to go +120km/h (200mph) around a 90 degree turn!

Also, despite numerous attempts (and a thorough understanding of how a truck handles) I have never been able to get a truck to actually jack-knife. I don't mean for the truck to end up in a jack-knife position, I mean to actually jack-knife. And that includes trying it in the wet at speeds faster than the speed limit and performing large, unrefined steering movements.. i.e. a whole bunch of stuff most truckers will never be doing.

It's waaaaaaaay too easy to keep a truck on the road in this game.

      Delete
    3. P.S. And yes I've tried every single physics mod created up to 1.8.2.5

They do make improvements but they can't do enough to fix SCS' over-easy approach to truck handling.

      Delete
    4. The physics mod I use is for 1.8.2.5 is v8.0.1 by KacaK. I exited the highway with my trailer and going around 70km/h turining my truck and trailer fliped because of the weight shift and speed. But on 1.9xx there is no trailer physics you can just drive like you have the downforce and grip of a F1 car makes no sense. Yeah okay maybe 1.8.2.5 didn't have the best physics but its way better than 1.9xx crap

Absolutely pathetic SCS, you have alienated me and your existing hardcore fan base for a temporary boost in sales. 70. Is VERY good that Mercedes is coming to ETS2. We all waited for this day. I can predict that in the next update they will replace the Majestic logo and dealers with Mercedes so we will all driving a Mercedes and when they will finalize the new Actros they will add it in the future.

The reason they will replace Majectic logo and dealers with Mercedes, is because many people are mumbling about Mercedes lack in the game, so in the next update Majestic will become Mercedes until Mercedes model will be available maybe in the summer or near Xmas. I look forward for the next update 1.9.5 version with the Mercedes:)

SCS, keep up the good job, congratulations for what you have done so far
