New countries, new opportunities

During development of DLC Scandinavia we felt that our roads need further push of variation and fidelity.

There are tons of new assets like new highway junctions, local roads with new crossroads, or new types of roads with different lane count on each side, as it often happens in reality. The main idea off course is to make sure they actually look and feel close to their actual Scandinavian representation.

Check out the following screenshots that bring a little glimpse of how it is shaping up:

    2. Sold! Will be nice to drive on those new junctions. I hope the rest of Europe will get an overhaul as well, as I just hate those sudden exits for which you have to change lane suddenly.

    3. I don't think the DLC will come out so soon... I expect it to be released in October/November ;)

    4. As you can see here: http://blog.scssoft.com/2013/08/going-east-almost-there.html the release date about Going East! DLC was announced on 30th of August, and the release date was 20th of September... so that's almost a month in advance... Also we haven't seen the blog about the DLC going into beta testing, so I expect the DLC to be released in October/November as I said before ;)

    5. According to Amazon UK it'll be released by Excalibur Publishing on 26th September, however, that's next week and I don't even think the DLC has been completeted yet, and then it has to be boxed and sent out to publishers, so, I wouldn't take these dates as being true, it's going to be a few months I think before we can buy it.

    6. There is no release date for the DLC and the release dates that you see are speculation. Scandinavia DLC will be released when its READY.

    2. download TSM map 5.1 then activate it and you have france, spain, italy, portugal, libya, greece, syria etc

      Delete
    3. If I were SCS I'd do a deal with the trucksim map guys... running TSM 5.1 here and although there are some problems it wouldn't take that much to get it up to standard. I did try reporting to TSM but it's pointlessly difficult (e.g. you have to supply screenshot etc even for a bug where screenshot is meaningless)

If SCS bought the TSM map, polished it some and released it, then they could spend more resource on making the new American game :D

      Delete
  27. Good work SCS! I'm Anxious for that and the new cargo system.

      Delete
    4. They are working on the American game, there were screenshots not long ago. And unless you know more than me about who in SCS works on what, then I suggest you keep quiet as suggested...

I would like SCS to involve the mod community more - there are a lot of people out there doing good stuff, if they would get them onside they could avoid duplication, creating what has already been done, sometimes just as good as SCS's stuff (no disrespect) - and that way they could expand their creative input with less cost than expanding the core business. Mind, I don't either know how SCS runs internally, but if I were running it it's something I wiould be looking at.

    1. Yes, but, it won't be the same as ProMods, I don't like their mini roundabouts, and it doesn't feel the same as a proper SCS module, I'm looking forward to this far more than the ProMods offering, even though I have to pay a small amount for it, it'll be worth it, carry on SCS you're doing a great job.

    1. I was just like you, but recently I installed a few mods, mostly the Jazzycat trucks and trailer mods, and believe me, it adds so much to the game. You hardly ever see the same truck twice anymore. :)

      Delete
    2. I hear what your saying Kev, you can consider a DLC a mod? So to speak though couldn't you I have going east that's a mod from SCS, I install only the highest quality aftermarket mods such as what drakhor said. Try a few on a separate profile it will not contaminate your vanilla game just be selective. I'm just blown away by Promods" I don't mean to plug them here. Well it's in the pipe now and SCS will make this going north so it is what it is just leaves a sour taste for many who have been up and down the promod highways ;0

      Delete
    3. Sorry Sam, but, DLC is NOT a mod, a modification is a hack job of something that already exists, mods are freeware, you don't buy them.

    1. You ungrateful bastard. You do realise that SCS are still providing technical support and constant new updates and content for a game that is over 2 years old? Most developers would have given up by that point. They listen to what the players want and then implement that into the game. How many other developers can you name that actually give a toss about the players?

      Delete
    2. I've been playing ETS2 for more than 2 years now, I think I paid $25 dollars, the game is awesome and payed for itself in the course of these years....
You can't say the same thing about any other game out there (which costs around 60 euros and gets replaced in the next year with another one).
I'm definitely gonna buy this DLC, and ATS and Euro Coach Simulator too. I'm not rich but I value companies like SCS

    5. Some folks expect everything for free *and* constant updates and support and then they moan like a foghorn when anything is slightly wrong. I call 'em freeloaders.

I pay for games I like, whether purchases like SCS or extras in F2P online games. This proposed DLC costs what, about the same as 4 pints of beer for me, well worth supporting. You should be thankful that people are prepared to pay so you can get tons of s**t for free you tight git.

  44. I like the large roundabout in picture 006. I'm used to seeing these here, and expect that it will be easy to navigate. The pleasant color palette is quite a relief after California. :)

The amount of fine detail in games of this "gen" is staggering. The pictures scream for 8x oversampling so that you can tell a light post and barrier from an approaching car.

  59. This is very encouraging to read concerning the DLC as it IS the time to ensure this type of fidelity is indeed built into the product. I cannot help bemoan some of the original maps highway / autobahn junctions and lane counts, the missing exit ramps and general lack of realism [one isolated example does not justify the over use of lane highways with one actually being a very long exit ramp!]

The images look excellent and I am really looking forward to this formal extension to the map.

  62. Can we please also have some more urban roads instead of constant motorways?

Also, elements such as roadworks and accidents would make the journey more interesting and involve either careful navigation or complete detours?

Landslides could force drivers to carefully drive around narrow pieces of road avoiding the debris.

Accidents would force drivers to take detour routes through urban environments instead of joining another piece of motorway.

6 You should dry the tires and make a stop at gas stations and fill each tire
    7 Must have oil change
8 The truck has to get dirty
9 Must have mud on the road
    10 Must have car wash
11 It has to dirty the glass front
12 Gotta have water in the windshield wiper
13 Has the smoke appear the truck
14 The KM has to be more realistic

Only incompetent companys say their products will be released when they are READY. Never see this kind of atitudes anywhere.

      Delete
    3. I agree with Joao Pereira. It's better don't say nothing until it's ready - I mean this particular case - DAF Euro 6, because it's a year since SCS advertise that it will be made. Scanialoverr - people are angry, and belive me they are not 12 years old children, but people in middle age. I my opinion SCS should work on its own image. We - the players - support them by our money (game + DLC etc.) and we want with return some updates. One thing, which people doesn't like the most is failure to comply with the word. It's not because of a week or two, but all year. SCS maybe you should think about this and change your priorities.

      Delete
  75. DAF Euro 6 will still not perfect, so that the mistakes that fix better not do it.

    ReplyDelete
  76. So not even a full year is not enough for scs to make a truck with poor textures and design, bugs and things missing inside or outside cabin.
But it`s ok, after 2 years i`ve learned this wannabe gaming company is slow and their employees hate to work.:)
So take your time scs, doesn`t matter what bullshit told us/promised us on the last year, we wait for your lazy bones to finish and release a buggie truck -steam first yes- and hope moders can make something decent out of it.

    1. SCS haven't mentioned a release date for the DLC so everything is speculation.

    3. SCS said Friday, May 23, 2014:

Still, we are not rushing anywhere. There is a stream of updates coming for ETS2 through 2014 that will be provided for any edition of the game. If things go well, there is a major map expansion add-on coming later this year that will not require Steam, but just like Going East! will just work with the retail version. But this will introduce a third set of non-Steam Product Keys, and we fear that this will be the limit of what the customers and our customer support can still deal with.
