ETS2 Steam Achievements are live now!

It took a longer than anticipated testing process to produce the Steam Achivements Update a.k.a Update 1.13 for Euro Truck Simulator 2, but finally, quite late tonight, we are here with the release on Steam!

The central feature new to this game update is the introduction of Steam Achievements, as described in our earlier blog post.

The rest of the changes is relatively limited and non-critical, these are only very local "diffs" implemented on top of the previous stable 1.12 and 1.11 versions:

Code
  • Steam achievements
  • Added functionality to unbind keys/buttons/axes in game ui
  • Added cruise control grid option
  • Cruise control speed limited to truck speed limit speed (if enabled)
  • Quickload and quicksave
  • Bindable keys/buttons for increasing and decreasing of radio volume
Data
  • Fixed speed limits in some countries (Belgium, France, Poland, Slovakia)
  • Fixed license plate generation in some cities (Graz, Klagenfurt, Ostrava)

From this point of view this update should not break too many mods, but your mileage may vary. If you are playing the game with mods, it is always a good idea to make backups of your profile folder structure to safeguard older save game files, and be aware of means to revert back to earlier version if you deem it desirable. This is actually very easy on Steam - we are using the system of Steam betas for keeping older releases of the game accessible.

Retail variant of this game update, of course without the Steam Achievements, will be made available in a couple of days.

For the next game update to version 1.14, the changes in code and game data will be much bigger. We are merging in changes to the game world, especially the northern parts that need to be altered for having good connections to the future region of Scandinavia. A lot of game and engine code has been changed, and 1.14 will roll in various improvements that the programming team has queued up for release over circa past 3 months. And last but not least, finally the new Euro 6 DAF truck tractor is almost ready, with the last round of iterations based on feedback from DAF Trucks N.V. getting us very close to desired quality. Testing all this mix of changes and additions is a complex procedure, please have patience with us!

    1. looking foolish? those people expected new trucks not some goofy achievements....if i drove a truck in real life i don't get steam achievements to (TRUCK SIMULATOR)-.-

    2. Sorry I mis-chose my words, I ment that people on this forum moan enormously about not getting new things fast enough (trucks, DlC's, etc) and so the peope moaning today for the 1.13 update not being released on time for the end of septemeber (because of the SCS crew "messing around " at the IAA festival) have now got exactly what they wanted, but looking a bit foolish all the same. Of course we would all like the new trucks too but one thing at a time is a good way to go so that the game doesn't become a messy hell . No if you drove trucks in real life you wouldn't be able to buy a truck every two days though and you would have a job giving you real money (not in game currency). And also it seams that truck manifacturers release a new truck every 4 ish years, and not every 3 months like SCS are doing.

      Delete
    3. i understand youre point bu waiting for months for a few trucks is by my meanings not fast... look at the modmakers for ets2 this daf euro 6 was realeased long time ago same as the mercedes... i love the word that scs is doing but sometimes i get this feeling the team are concentrating on other stuff.... hope the daf and mercedes will be released in a few days instead of a few weeks again!

    5. We should be happy that they still make updates for the game, we payed for the game as it was when it was released. This is not an early acces game so we have no right to complain.

    6. totaly agree with you Brecht... they are giving the new addons in FREE updates so just be thankful and patient, asI don't know about you but I would rather have a superbly modeled and precise truck than a sh*tty looking one

    7. Let me just point out here, that mod creators have their job a LOT easier than SCS. Mod makers often use assets created by SCS to create their mods, for example the Mercedes MP4 mods that I've seen are pretty much new external models, with the interior being a re-skin of the old Majestic interior. A similar thing happened with the Volvo FH, mods came out but it was exterior, the interior and engine sounds were recycled from SCS model. SCS have to create a brand new model, interior, sound, animation set etc for each new truck, along with getting the approval from the truck company...

      Delete
    8. And there are probably hundreds of mod makers whilst the SCS crew are limited... I doubt that there are over 50 people there let alone 100! but they do a fantastic job with their limited ressources.

      Delete
    9. @spatje20072008 - I've seen the DAF Euro6 and the Mercedes, and they aren't high quality. Playable, but not high quality. The DAF has the old interior and just seems to be a change to the grill.
      Mercedes is patchy at best.

    10. true, that makes it questional why company's are beeing difficult,it makes commercial for them in selling trucks...the same as trailer company's beeing difficult to let scs use there trailers! Like Schmitz is aroud the corner here but they aren't running that well as a company...The more commercial they make the more costumers will come the more sales they will have.. but still it is annoying to wait for the trucks i thought the trucks will come with the new update v 1.13? but apperently we'll have to wait (hopefully not till the v 1.14 comes out)

      Delete
    11. no don't worry spatje20072008 I guess that the DAf wil have it's own update soonish !=) that's what they did with the new Vovlo if I am not mistaken.

  3. Thanks you so much SCS. Coders, Graphicers all workers but please be hurry up for new trucks. Players need to new blood :/ Understand to players, we are paid for all dlc's or painjobs. thats all of for support to updates. Pls understand to players.

  4. Thankyou SCS for your continuing hard work!!! Cannot wait to get stuck in and plow some more miles.

  5. 19 megabytes of update? you guys are a joke, and it was the DAF for the second half of September was stop where ?! it should be hanging out there right? lack of commitment and respect with us, slutty!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. They said they were aiming for the second half of September, they never said it would be released by then. It takes time to build truck models and fix the bugs the inevitably come with them.

      Delete
    2. Lack of commitment and respect? The DAF is a free addition to the game. SCS are well within their rights to sell it as DLC, most companies would. As Anthony said, they promised nothing, they estimated. Obviously they were off with their estimate. Which isn't a huge surprise. At the end of it all, what would you rather have? A fully functioning truck with few bugs? Or a half arsed mess with a ton of bugs, errors and issues? If you got the later you would still be complaining. So really with people like you, SCS simply cannot win. If you don't like it, go play something else. How about one of the Codemasters racing games? Ask them for some highly detailed free cars. They'll be too busy laughing at you to reply.

      Delete
    3. you guys keep complaining about updates, but forget that when you buy a game, you buy it as it is, company is not forced to make any updates or dlc or anything at all for it, so be happy SCS is updating quite reasonable theyr game and giving new stuff along the way, including trucks and map areas that other companies would probably charge you for them.

      Delete
    4. My thinking is that they need to work on the mechanics of the game and let modders do their thing. I will pay for a DLC that improves game structure but not for a mod ( paint jobs, etc)

      Delete
  6. Really? achievements are useless....should have added proper sound for MAN truck a long while ago now..but no..achievements lol

  9. The new trucks have to be signed off by the manufacturers before they can be added to the game. In the corporate world this can take time, even over minor details but It's not always SCS's fault.

Don't forget that you at least have the choice of adding 3rd party mods if you can't wait.

Personally I have patience and have no issues waiting for updates and paying for additional DLC as they are top quality and WILL work with the multiplayer addon, whereas mods will not.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Are you saying that they could not even have been working on them.? I think they should be 3rd party mods with the right for the modder to do that work. It is obvious that SCS is blocking modders from working on the Mercedes MP4 as it but all but disappeared for over a year. Even now I get the feeling that modders such as Danz and Olaf have been told hands off until after SCS introduces their own.

  25. When I saw the new update on steam I just screamed cheer the new daf but when I got into the game and see if it was there and would buy it but when I got into daf's truck dealers and saw that it was not there so I was very disappointed you promised it would come on and update 1.13.1 was the tandem trucks and trailers judgment they are not there either

    ReplyDelete
  26. It seems like achievements doesn't count if you play as an employee. Also, Steam Cloud would be very for this.

    ReplyDelete
  27. the swap jobs are not there either

    ReplyDelete
  28. Micke they promised nothing of the sort, they mearly mentioned the new tandem DLC AFTER having talked about the new 1.13 update... re read the 11th of september blog page if you don't beleive me! And the DAF was suposed to be released "for the second half of September" and not necessarily in the 1.13 update. And end of September, begining of October is not that long a wait is it? If you're not happy with the speed and hard work that SCS put into their game (that they could have stopped updating a lonnng time ago) then you have three choices; 1) Stop bi*ching about how long they are taking and wait patiently like the rest of us(We all want the new trucks but you could wait patiently like the most of us). 2) Apply for a job at SCS so that you can help them get their models perfect quicker ,or 3) go play your fkin C.O.D while you wait for you new trucks. It's up to you to decide mate. I feel that SCS deserve more respect than you are currently giving them, and that you should be more grateful for what you get. Best regards

    1. No offense my friend but those "crying babies" were asking about the new DAF truck which was supposed to release in September. Postponed to later September, now it is nearly October. Please read what people say before calling them with funny names.

    2. Shut the f*ck up. SCS are in no way obliged to release any FREE content to you. If I remember correctly it was a f*cking estimate. Because of people like you, this world consists of greedy b*stards.

    3. Seriously, the amount of complaining people do in here is a joke. SCS could run their business completely differently if they wanted, like the Train Simulator guys, and do one big update a year and make you pay for tones of over-priced DLC. Thank god they don't.

      Delete
    4. Jakub Prusak, please consider talking more politely. Swearing won't make your argument stronger. I support the SCS all the way I can, I bought all of the dlc's and I can buy the trucks as dlc if they decide to. People is working in their jobs and want to play games when they are off-work, so for some people, waiting can be annoying. Not everyone is swearing kids who stay at at home and go to schools.

  31. Omg, I was so happy, when I saw today when STEAM is updating my ETS 2...I was about to apologize in here officially...And what? Totally useless achievements, and of course no new DAF...How dissapointing! Again...SCS, stop wasting your prexious time to make such useless things like achievements...Develop gameplay and stuff...And another baby talk - ''We need more time to make perfect DAF''...Yeah, I got it. Ahh, nevermind. I want to say one more thing - I would even pay for your new trucks and so on...But if only they were on schedule.

    1. I do not agree at all with you on ANY of your posts on this forum (and you are the only one). Of course I respect your opinions but I dislike the way that you dis SCS all the freaking time. You are ALWAYS moaning about everything, the trucks are not coming fast enough, not enough of news about the new DLC's, etc. Acheivements are not useless, they will give new life into the game for those who want these acheivements. And, just to annoy you even more, they HOPED for a release date for the DAf near Septemeber.. and we are still in september unless if I am very much mistaken(and even if it is a bit lat who bloddy cares!). We all would like the new trucks but we wait patiently! But if you want your truck ,well, SCS give him his truck!!! I will wait for the final perfect deal rather than a truck full with problems! SCS could have abandoned the game years ago an yet they persevere for idiots like you. And well if you are not happy, go play Call of Duty, you impatient prat and leave the rest of us alone to enjoy the hard work that SCS put into the game!!

    2. Hey if you can't read you should not be on this blog. Let me make it easy for you:

YOUR DAF IS NOT FINISHED YET!

They want to prevent people in their inbox complaining about bug filled content, because they are taking their time to make it perfect. You think they PROMISED september? Fuck off then. It was an ESTIMATION.
If you can't read nor have patience but instead you are only happy with a truck I don't think this game is something for you.

  34. Why some of you are so excited about that appeared ot the update? It was yet in the plans for some time. There are more and more voices that some of us are ungrateful because we demand updates (DAF 6, etc.), and that the game is already old and it was a miracle that it even supports SCS. Hmm, let me think. Is on the market better truck simulator than ETS2 ? Not that I heard. So do you think it's old? I know the games which in the day of launch was outdated, because there were better titles. At most the purchasing portal in Poland, still a lot of people buying ETS2. It is normal that the game is being developed and will continue to be. SCS is going in good direction - introducing DLCs. Updates must be done, SCS informs about it at this blog post.
Back to the ingratitude. Who is in your opinion more ungrateful: person who is buying DLCs (support SCS by money) and is asking when will be DAF 6? or the person who only has bought (or maybe has not?) ETS2, writing "good job SCS!" and waiting only for FREE updates? For "good job SCS" people working in SCS doesn't feed themselves or theirs family. If you are more than 5 years old, you know that nothing in this world is for free. SCS will get the money from DLCs, but it is totally normal. They had spent thousands hours on work. We should support them. Please people stop writing crap about ingratitude.
This is not about the delay one or two weeks in updates, because we are also the humans who understand that it can be a problems with introduction of updates.
The problem was with informing us about delays. I see that is changing. For me it's better to read that e.g. Petr has a flu, Zdenek was on holiday, Ondrej was in business trip and the rest of the team works very hard but they didn't make it, than zero informations. I hope to read only optimistic post by you and SCS in the future.

Cruise control speed limited to truck speed limit speed (if enabled)

    2. If you have orginal game, than you can connect it with steam. I had also doubts, but over a month it's working fine. I'm not a fan of steam and I won't be, but for ETS2 it's a perfect solution. You can still buying box version and simply connect it with steam. Also you can buy small DLCs directly from steam and still support SCS. If one day steam disappear you are having box version with key from SCS:) I've made it with ETS2 and Going East DLC's and will do that with Scandinavia because box version in Poland are cheaper.

    3. Just install Steam and activate your CD code on Steam. You'll have all the updates that you need, when SCS releases them.

Unless, of course, you don't have any CD key. But you can solve this problem. Just buy ETS 2 on Steam: it costs only 10 Euros until Friday (Going East DLC included).

  46. For people who doesn't understand why we are disapointed about the non release yet DAF.

Its release has been annouced a long time ago, maybe more than a year. The Actros MPIV has been annouced in March or April if i remember corrrectly, and i'm not talking about first shots of the trucks.

So "be patient" is just a kind of joke for me. A truck is not a plane, it doesn't have moving parts or avionics for exemple. Sorry, but I (i said I) think it take too much time. I don't know the reason, maybe because it's free, or maybe they annouced it before they have the rights from manufacturers, and in this last case, it is just a mistake. Or simple, they are working on too much stuff at the same time.

They are keeping work on ETS2, and i'm just glad about that, but please, let me the right to be disapointed without insulting me, i'm a customer too.
