SCS at IAA Hannover 2014

Quite an expedition from SCS Software journeyed to Hannover in the north of Germany at the end of last week to visit IAA Nutzfahrzeuge 2014 - the biggest Commercial Vehicles show in Europe.

We have reported from the show in real-time on SCS Software's Twitter, but we don't have that many followers there, so maybe a short recap here won't hurt.

We have taken hundreds of gigabytes of reference photos, and more importantly, we have talked to number of very important people in the transportation industry and from truck and trailer manufacturing companies. Hopefully some of these initial contacts will grow into fruitful discussions and down the road to noticeable improvements of Euro Truck Simulator 2.

The good photos we took would fill twenty long blog posts, here is only a very short selection. If there is interest from the community to see more photos, we may put them somewhere more appropriate, like SCS Software's Facebook page, so let us know!

    3. Gabor Bartal: Yes, that gray truck is a VW Constellation made in Brazil!
There he is called Sponge Bob Square Pants.
      Nice truck!

  4. Damn you SCS, we don't want your photos from any voyage - you deceived us with releasing DAF in september, and now no any word about it? All your supporters are truly dissapointed. I wish you a nice day.

    1. Then don't look at this post. It's still September though, what if they release it in a few days or weeks? Then they will have a week delay, so what? Can you whine? NO.
Don't say "have a nice day" when you don't mean it either, it's rude.

    2. This is why modders are keeping their things private as hell. Too bad SCS cant. :/

    3. Go cry, little princess. One guy thinks that something should be released when he wants to. Fine, give this guy his Daf, SCS. Ignore him when he's coming back because it's filled with bugs...
I just can't understand people like you. If they don't release it it means it's not done yet. You demand unifinshed work, and the next month we see you again crying your Daf is bug filled. That's the risk! Just think before writing dumb stuff.

  5. Can you add to the game the Scania's exhaust from 12 photo? Would be great. Also would be great if you would add paintable grills in the trucks.
IMHO you should also think about possibility of choise version of MAN and old Volvo FH without this chrom frames between the front lamps.

Also you could make paintable this plates (places maybe) behind windows in Scania.
Maybe you can also add nontypical trailers like extended trailers for blades of wind turbines. And please add lift axles in trucks and trailers.

And I look forward to new Daf XF Euro 6.
Thank you for your work and undying enthusiasm.

  6. SCS Software's Twitter, but we don't have that many followers there.

Thats because your losing people who play the game. Everyone is Playing the Multiplayer. It does get me how even Indie Game companies do more then you. Your biggest problem is you use your own useless game engine.

    1. Which is why they're gonna use their new engine with ATS and then likely do a overhaul of ETS2 and VOILA, ETS3, a free upgrade for better looks and stuff like that.

      Delete
    2. You must be a real douchebag. If you complaining, then stop playing this game, uninstall it and sell it! Another happy guy will play it all day long! Retard...

      Delete
    3. And if SCS didn't make the game would multiplayer exist? It's only raising customers. If people think multiplayer is fun they need ETS2 first... Which means they buy the game and can play MP, and SCS only gains in that stage. This comment is rather useless.

  9. It now does not fit thereto, as I already apologize once.

I could playing this game now for more than a month does not play anymore: because I'm waiting for the 1.13 patch.

I would anyway have new Beginning, at time it did what said that the 1.13 patch Appears in 2 weeks. So I thought did I wait so I do not have to start from scratch again to unlock all the achievements.

Now are already five weeks past Gone and I'm still waiting. :-(
    When is patch 1.13 come?
The DAF trucks etc. i'm not interested do not care for synthesis trucks I have to start a new game, for 1.13 patch already.

Please please tell me when the Achievements are unlocked, so I can finally play again.

PS: Sorry for my bad english, google translate

  10. Glad you had a great time there guys, I really love those Volvo's.
Was hoping for news on the release of the Scandinavian DLC.

  11. Very nice, hope you all had a nice trip. The photos are great would like to see a lot more. One thing I did notice that the Scania (and I love Scannies ) is looking a bit dated I think. (now the flack will be coming)

  12. How about the cabin could tilt forward an we could see these beautiful engines?

    Am I asking too much?

  13. Uauu, very nice.

This is exactelly the kind of news we were expecting at this time.

This is going better and better, unbelievable!!

By the way, do you want to see the pictures i took this weekend at the beach?
At this time you must be wondering: who the f*ck cares about that?

Exactly !! did you get there?

( i am not saying that what you did in Hannover is not important, just posted out of time, when people still waiting for answers about your commitement with us)

    Best regards

  14. Did you guys also, by any chance, work in the past few days? I would much rather see a picture of you sitting in the office and working on the damn games you are selling us. And don't even get me started how this is nice and all because they support the game after two years. I would happily pay whatever they want if they wanted that, just so they could work faster. Indie studios with 2-3 men are doing great games like The Forest and all we get here is some photos from your vacation, without even a word about the update.. this is ridiculous guys...

    ReplyDelete
  15. I rather like the fact that the team made the effort to go to Hannover to talk to the trailer makers, which could lead them to getting permissions to use the real makers names in the game like the tractor units.

  16. Dear SCS,
Hope that you enjoyed your trip!! Don't listen to those people moaning about not having news about the updates, and saying that you are sat on your behinds doing nothing, we true SCS truckers realise the importance of this trip to the IAA for the future of ETS2. They do not take into account the vast knowledge that you guys got from the trip there and how important this trip was for the insertion of new traillers (with the posibility of trailer ownership on the horizon if I understand correctly) and trucks, such as the new Renault T that in my mind looks amazing (may the hate commence) or the new DAF. Would you people who are moaning rather have a guess on the aspects and handling of a truck based on photos, or would you rather have the people who know much more than you on trucks, the SCS crew, go and get as much info as possible from actualy studying these trucks to put them in possible new updates (if the people at Forza didn't actually try half of the cars inserted into their game you guys would probably riot and the same thing applies here!) ? Stop moaning and statrt thinking about the game on the long term rather tan the short term (especially seing as September isn't quite finished anyway)!!!
Great job SCS and we believe in you!!

    1. My god somebody on this blog uses his brain! Haven't seen that in a long long time...
Anyway, I totally agree with you. They are getting material for trucks that might be added into the game later on. People might think it's rubbish, wait until they come back to cry about not being accurate. That's what they're doing here!

  17. Oh you crying babies. How you can be so unthankfull? I can't believe. I mean - so what if the next update has been delayed for a couple of weeks. Doesn't you appreciate all the efforts of SCS team.

I'm curious what will gonna happened if SCS release an update today ...or tomorrow, would you guys apologize to them?

    1. Not to mention they could have stayed at home this weekend, with family, or getting drunk with out-of-work friends, not giving a f**k about a truck show.

But instead they went there, to see what they can do to make this game even better.

  20. First, and most important things that are still missing after two years are SEASONS. You know, looking outside of my window I notice that the weather changes always !!! Now it is raining, then it is snowing, then it is windy, then everything freezes, and so on. So, dear SCS, what about thinking at how to improve the weather pattern and add SEASONS ?!! You guys, have named the game a SIMULATOR, then, let s simulate the real life.

  21. Аre you planned discount on the game and DLS on the new year?
    Thank you!

  22. Dear Players and dear SCS. For us players ETS2 it's only a game, but for SCS it is a job. And as it's in real life, job it's not a a game. If we want to be serious, it's us treat each other seriously. If we agree on something, we keep our word. I know that sometimes, 'shift" happens, and even if you wanted to do something that can not be done. Following is a blog to write about it - like it was with achievements. We players are investors - we pay for SCS work, so we can require effects. I like SCS for their work. The same I have in my work - my boss likes me, but he is very demanding relative to me. Please people don't write that nothing happened, because it happened. In my work I have deadlines, a lot of work etc. but I must go ahead. I have transform my box game to a steam version, and bought DLC to support SCS. I will buy ATS, DLC Scandinavia, and Rigid Trucks DLC too. The question is: when it will be done? SCS I sincerely wish you perseverance and better communication with us - the players.

    1. Yes but do not forget that SCS are doing something that other game companies/producers haven't done; they carried on and improved a game released in 2012! They could have probably released a ETS3 with all the new trucks that they have added in all these years (that they have released through FREE updates and not made us pay for). I understand that you want these upadates as much as the rest of us but you have to understand the importance of these WORK trips (like the IAA trip) to improve the game on the long term! They also went and did it on their weekend when they could have been at home. Just because that they delayed one update does not mean that we should loose faith in them, and at least they had the ba*ls to tell us that they had to push back the release date by a few weeks! I also bought the DLCs so by doing that we are supporting the SCS group and ETS2 on the LONG term (seing as we bought the DLC after the release game) and so this trip was vital for the future of the game that you are carrying on supporting (see my comment a bit above that explains this (and at least some of us have the brains to agree about how important this trip was #eurotrucker ;) ). fee634bc-480a-11e4-aefc-87702d660be2 also explains the situation perfectly (but with the burning in hell part ;) ) And at least SCS have a blog to tell us about the game ( unlike may game producers).
Good day to all you ungrateful SCS followers

    2. PS enjoy the update ... ungrateful people who do not deserve it. Enjoy it even more the patient rest of you ;)

  24. WOW! There are some serious entitlement issues in here. There are places and times to complain about things you THINK you are entitled to. When the hand that feeds you shares something that they are working on FOR YOU and asks if you want to have more the answer is "YES PLEASE", and "THANK YOU" not "where is my patch!" These guys are releasing free content to us almost 3 years after the game was released and your complaining about them missing a date on a calender? I can count on one hand the number of dev's that will engage with there community, support there game, and release free content almost 3 years after the softwares release date. Yes, we bought a game and they delivered that game. Anything after that is over and beyond what we have paid them to do. SCS works hard to keep bringing us FREE trucks and content. Would you rather pay for every scap of code they come up with like so many other dev's do? Why don't you go ask EA or Codemasters for a free car or track for a race game and see how far you get? They will laugh you off of the internet. I really hope you guys are trolling for a reaction, if you are not your are societal surge and i hope you burn.
SO, with that said. Thanks for sharing SCS and I would love to see more pictures, Thank you!
