Trade Connections: Germany - Recomputing

The Euro Truck Simulator 2 community is doing a fantastic job delivering the World of Trucks event jobs. Hundreds of thousands of tons of cargo are transported every day.

However, we have to admit that we have underestimated the mountain of work it would take to deliver 50 million tons of cargo. In our initial assessment, we based the math on last year's Christmas event combined with the Operation Big Sur event progress. Unfortunately, we did not properly take into account the extra challenge of geography as required by having to visit 10 different countries. With the personal goal jobs on average requiring 3 or more times the kilometers driven compared to Big Sur deliveries, the progress is a lot slower than we computed. Our plan was for the event to last several weeks, but seeing where we are now, we don't want to risk that the fun will turn into a grind.

We would like to move on and focus the fanbase on new stuff that we are about to unleash. It's time to move the goal post.

We are re-scaling Trade Connections: Germany event community goal. The new goal is 15 million tons of cargo. A huge task on its own, and a lot of work is still left to do, but we feel that we are back with our feet on the ground.

The rules do not change otherwise:

To personal goal to qualify for the reward requires delivery of 10 cargoes to or from Germany, over the distance longer than 300 km, to or from 10 different countries.

The community goal is the delivery of 15 million tons of cargo between Germany and any other country, there is no distance minimum or any additional limit.

We apologize for the miscalculation and for asking too much of you. We always strive to bring you positive motivation and fun on World of Trucks, and this change is in line with our vision. See you on the road!

Halloween is Creeping Our Way

The ancient Halloween celebration dating back to Celtic harvest festivals and perhaps even deeper is almost here. Over centuries and especially in recent decades, it has evolved into a community-centered holiday directed mainly at the young. It is now actually the second largest commercial holiday in Northern America.

As every year, Steam Store is observing the holiday with a sale, and we are no exception with our games and DLC - discounts are in place over most of our library.

We are taking advantage of having available a Halloween-themed paint job pack for both of our flagship truck sims to come up with limited-time bundles. They should be very interesting for newcomers to the genre, mixing the base games with new cool add-ons. As the bundles are of the type "complete the set," they should also be attractive for trucking game veterans who are looking to complement their existing ATS or ETS2 portfolio with new stuff.
We have a small surprise for the owners of ATS Halloween Paint Job Pack - we have added a new trailer paint job to the DLC...

Have fun on the road! :)

ATS: Special Transport - State of progress

Since the release of The Oregon map expansion for American Truck Simulator, we have been overwhelmed with the positive feedback, comments, and reviews from our community. Our social media pages have been receiving countless videos, articles, screenshots, 360 degrees pictures and more from the lands of Oregon. We have been sharing some of your posts and images on our own pages and if you follow us, you would have seen some of them. It has been very motivating for the team to see how our community enjoys a brand new map expansion, so keep sharing!

If you're still considering adding this map DLC into your ATS collection, maybe some of these reviews will help you. If you decide to search the internet for yourself, we're sure you will find tons of ATS: Oregon material.

We are also excited to share our current progress on the Special Transport expansion for American Truck Simulator. We've been very busy in the third quarter of this year with all sorts of projects, but we want to make it clear that this hasn't stopped the development of this upcoming game addition.

We are very excited to show you more of the Special Transport expansion, which brings special cargoes to the roads of American Truck Simulator. Our team is working hard on the finishing touches for this brand new addition, and we cannot wait to get you behind the wheel of these cargoes in a couple of weeks time.

In the meantime, we would love to share these screenshots of one of the special transport trailers with a cargo helicopter. Let the Special Transport hype begin!

FOR GAMES Expo this week

This week, October 25-28, the FOR GAMES annual expo takes place in Prague, our hometown. Our On the Road team will be there with our Sim Trailer, and we would like to invite you to meet us!

We'll be showing the recently released Oregon DLC for American Truck Simulator, but you will also be able to get a good look at the upcoming stuff - the Special Transport DLC for ATS, and Beyond the Baltic Sea DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2.

It's always great to come to a gaming show full of enthusiastic players and fans. The gaming show in Prague is not as big as last week's PGA 2018, so the waiting lines will not be that long hopefully. It was a very busy but super cool weekend we had in Poznań, check out this short video report...

Last but not least - we are hiring! SCS Software is in growth mode, we need more artists, designers, coders, tweakers, testers... This event is a great opportunity to chat with our team in an informal environment and learn what it takes to join us!

Event Community Goal Update

We are very impressed with the community effort during the current Trade Connections Germany event on World of Trucks. There were 5 million tons of material delivered in under a week! This is about 3 times ton-kilometers compared to the cargo delivered in the Big Sur event. And the numbers keep climbing up. Big thumbs up for your efforts!

The huge scale of the event is intentional. We wanted to provide a challenge that will take several weeks to complete so that more people have a chance to participate, as there were frequent gripes with our previous events that the duration was too short.

However, it seems that some players kept missing the 300 km limit. We are getting lot of inquiries about this, so we decided to remove it from the community goal requirements (the personal goal remains the same). To sum it up, the community goal is now thus:

(Update) Deliver 15.000.000 tons of cargo in total to Germany from any other country or vice versa. There is no distance limit for community deliveries.

Meanwhile, check out this little video presenting cool main menu background waiting for you as one of the community rewards...

Saint Petersburg - Western Diameter

A lot of work has been invested into St. Petersburg and specifically also into Western High-Speed Diameter in the upcoming Beyond the Baltic Sea map expansion. We have shown you a few screenshots already, but today we'd like to show you even more.

So we sat behind the steering wheel and made a video for you. Here is the Western Diameter through the eyes of a Euro Truck Simulator 2 truck driver!

Event: Trade Connections - Germany

Let us invite you to a join another World of Trucks event!

As you have no doubt noticed, with Update 1.32 we have started working on upgrading the territory of Germany in Euro Truck Simulator 2. We'd like to bring the community's attention to this ongoing work with the help of this event, and maybe get the right kind of inspiration for another major round of map improvements that we want to start working on right after we are finished with Beyond the Baltic Sea DLC.

Reworking Germany is no easy task! It's the core region of the ETS2 game world through which many deliveries are taking place, and we want to make sure that the results are solid. Now, at least in a sort of virtual way, you can help us, too!

So far, we have re-touched the northern part of the country, and we cordially invite you now to re-visit it with the event deliveries. But many more roads are to be rebuilt from scratch, there are new intersections coming, so many cities are waiting for a facelift and cleanup. This will take a ton of material and technology of all kind, but also various goods and supplies to sustain the hard-working construction crews on their long shifts. Therefore, we would like to ask you to start pumping up the economy of Germany in the game with deliveries to and from the country. Just to be clear, a successful wrap-up of the event doesn't yet trigger a new content drop for Germany. We are working hard on it, and this event may motivate us to work even harder ;).

The rules of the event:

  • This is a community event - there is a personal goal for each participant, and there is also a global shared goal to complete the event.
  • To earn your personal reward for participation, your goal is to complete a delivery of 10 cargoes to or from Germany, each starting or ending in different countries in the rest of Europe. The deliveries must be longer than 300 km.
  • A total of 15 million tons of material, machinery, goods, food, and supplies must be transported by the community during the event. There is no distance limit for the community deliveries.
  • In order to qualify for the community reward, you must complete at least your personal contribution.
  • The community reward will be granted once (Update) 15 million tons of cargo are delivered.
  • You need to be signed up and connected to World of Trucks service for the online jobs to register.
  • To verify if you comply with the rule to deliver to/from 10 different countries, you can review your recent deliveries in the World of Truck's LogBook.

For your personal contribution of delivering 10 cargoes, you will receive:

  • Brandenburg Gate dashboard mini-replica
  • 3 random country pennants, possibly including rare German Pennant

If the community goal is achieved, you will also receive:

  • German Shepherd bobblehead dashboard toy
  • Golden Stag dashboard statue
  • 'Under the Bridge' background for the game's main menu

As you probably remember from the previous events, we are taking advantage of Steam's Inventory infrastructure to "drop" the rewards to you. As a consequence, the individual items can be traded or even sold through Steam. Just remember that if you get rid of a particular Inventory item, you will no longer be able to see it in the game's Upgrade Shop and equip your truck with it.

SCS On The Road: PGA 2018

We are in a hurry to haul our Sim Trailer to the city of Poznań in Poland to attend the Poznan Game Arena 2018 gaming expo this weekend. We are looking forward to meeting our Polish fans there!

The logistics of the trip is pretty crazy. It's a long way from Jarama, Spain, and we have an extra complication to deal with. One of the custom steering wheels installed in the motions seats developed some sort of electronics problem (or so we think), and we need to make an extra stop half way to our destination to try to fix or replace it. If you have been to Master Truck Opole, you may remember all the fine dust in the air covering everything quickly. We tried to clean it all up, but it got pretty much everywhere, we are actually pleasantly surprised our hardware lasted this long. It's not all just fun and games, far from it; our On The Road team is working under very tough conditions. Fortunately, meeting the fans makes up for the stress on the road.

If you can make it to PGA to visit this big gaming event running from 12th to 14th of October, we will be fully ready for you. We will be showing our just-released ATS Oregon DLC, of course, but you may also see an exclusive glimpse of the upcoming ATS Special Transport expansion or Beyond the Baltic Sea map. Our friends at Polish distributor IMGN.PRO are very helpful in organizing our presence at PGA, and they are planning to experiment and set up a little merchandise shop alongside our regular show. If you can't be there with us, you are welcome to follow our daily feed on social media profiles on Instagram and Twitter where we'll be covering the show in real time.

As an appetizer, let's recap the previous event we have participated in - the FIA ETRC truck race at Jarama. The FIA European Truck Racing Championship 2018 is over now, the champions are crowned. Eights races in eight countries provided a ton of opportunities for us to get close to our fans, to get a lot of inspirations, and even to make some new friendships.

Here is a bunch of pictures taken during our stay at Circuito del Jarama for the final event of the ETRC 2018 season. We are sending our regards to Pedro of Pumizo3D - we are looking forward to seeing your video report from Jarama! Big thanks to our Spanish friend Ivan who was extremely helpful bridging the language barrier! This event wouldn't have been so great without you.

Oregon Celebration!

American Truck Simulator: Oregon is published!

We thank our great community: our fans, supporters, and sim-game players for their inspiration, thoughts, and wishes.

We still have a little surprise up our sleeve for today. For all fans of both classic and modern American trucks, we are also unveiling Classic Stripes Paint Jobs DLC at the same time. It comes with a total of eight stylish designs that fit perfectly on all trucks and combine the cabin paint job and trailer design.

We wanted to provide you a yet better value when launching Oregon, so we have combined the new map DLC and the new style DLC into a discounted bundle. You may consider checking out Oregon in Style bundle first before clicking that purchase button on the Oregon Steam Store page.

Oregon: Final Countdown

Today is the day! We are impatiently counting the hours and minutes until the launch of the latest American Truck Simulator Oregon map expansion.

Our plan is to release the DLC this afternoon - around 14:00 UTC

To shorten the wait, we have a new Launch Day Celebration Video for your viewing pleasure. It is following the daily jobs of four friends driving their big rigs through Oregon, eventually uniting to celebrate the special day together.

We are proud to announce that it features a song by Jessica Lynn, a talented young American artist and songwriter. A while ago, we met Jessica at her evening performance at Nürburgring race circuit. Realizing that she is into trucks, too, together we got an idea to feature one of her original songs in our Oregon promo video...

Oregon DLC release is coming today, stay up to date also on your preferred communication channels:

SCS On The Road: ETRC Grand Finale in Jarama

We would like to invite our fans from Spain to meet us on racetrack Circuito del Jarama during the grand finale of the FIA ETRC 2018 truck racing season. See you this weekend!

Our On The Road team has a super busy time now. They have just arrived back to the office from Le Mans to celebrate the release of ATS Oregon map expansion on Thursday. But they won't stay in Prague for long - they need to hurry to catch a plane again to Madrid on Friday. So many exciting things happening in such a short time span!

We are looking forward to meeting all the visitors interested in our games and especially the hardcore truck sim players. We'll be in Jarama in full glory with our Sim Trailer, including the pair of 4D motion seats and our cache of merchandise reserved for the most loyal fans ;).

Great times ahead! Just like we had during our stay at Le Mans. We have a little photo diary from Le Mans for you below...
