British Columbia: Meet the Team

The work on the British Columbia DLC for American Truck Simulator is in full swing, but before we are ready to show you more glimpses of what we are cooking, we would like you to meet the team behind the first map expansion that will take our truckers to Canada!

There are 14 talented map designers already working on this upcoming expansion, all thrilled at the chance to be the first to venture into Canada, quite a change from the Louisiana setting of their previous DLC. So, without further ado, let's meet this portion of our team bringing this new landscape to life!

Davido - Map DLC Lead

"I have been working at SCS for a long time, having held several positions in the gaming industry, from testing to design to a leadership role. We worked with this team on several diverse projects in the past; we had to solve several challenges over the years, but now we are facing a project that is the largest we have ever worked on. For the first time, we're entering into a completely new region, an unknown territory with many differences. There's a lot of work ahead of us, a lot of individual pieces, and my task is to lead a group of several talented, experienced people and put these pieces together to create the next masterpiece for our ATS world."

Vopi

"I've been with SCS for quite some time, around 7 years, I think... time flies. At this point, I worked on several DLCs across the US as a senior. I was usually working on landscaping or nature-related tasks, and more recently on custom depots. I've always had a soft spot for the Pacific Northwest area and other mountainous regions like Colorado or Montana. That is why I'm very excited to "return" where it all started for me - the PNW - and work on British Columbia. I had the pleasure of visiting this province last year, and I fell in love with it. So I hope we will be able to recreate some of the wild beauty that British Columbia is known for."

Vojta

"I've been working at SCS for over six years. My first DLC was Colorado, where I learned all the basics of the editor and the work of a map designer in general. Since then, I've worked on many DLCs - the latest are Arkansas and Louisiana. My main focus is usually on large cities, so after New Orleans in Louisiana, Vancouver and Victoria are next in British Columbia. I also enjoy creating custom depots, especially river ports, shipyards, and farms. British Columbia is completely different from the southern states I've been working on recently. Its large mountains, rocky terrain, and vast forests present new challenges that I'm looking forward to taking on."

Terka

"After the Louisiana DLC, where I worked on the city of Monroe and the roads around it, my journey in SCS continues, and our team shifts to Canada's first province, British Columbia. Now, I have over two years of experience, and I am excited to work on another DLC. Not only will I be working on one of the big cities and beautiful roads in the south of the province, but this time I have gained a specialization - I will be taking care of rocks and rock formations in BC and ensuring that we deliver the best feeling of this mountainous country."

Jáno

"I've been working at SCS as a map designer for four years. The first DLC I worked on at SCS was the California Rework. Since then, I've had the chance to work on several expansions, including Montana, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. Each project brought something new, and I enjoyed working on all of them. There's also a lot to look forward to - the upcoming British Columbia DLC will offer stunning roads, mountains, lakes, and endless forests just waiting to be explored."

Tereza

"I have been in SCS for over a year, and after finishing Louisiana, I will now be working on the British Columbia DLC. In Louisiana, I enjoyed making roads with swamps and a few settlements in the south. This is my second project, and I'm looking forward to this DLC a lot. British Columbia has beautiful natural features and lakes, but also many small, rural cities. Now I'm working on three of them on the east side of the region, and it's a big challenge for me because I haven't had the chance to build a city yet. Anyway, I'm very excited about this new experience, and I know I will learn many new things during this process."

Eliška

"British Columbia is my second DLC as a map designer, after Louisiana. This time, I am working on cities and roads on one of BC's islands. The island is connected to the mainland by ferry, so players can once again look forward to short cutscenes from harbor areas. Just like with Louisiana, I'm again responsible for all the cutscenes you'll see in this DLC. British Columbia has an incredible environment to offer, and I do my best to make sure none of it goes unnoticed. When I build a map, I especially enjoy creating beautiful lakes and capturing their beauty in the game. Every location is a new challenge for me, and I'm happy to share these stunning places with the world through my work."

Lukáš

"I joined SCS almost 4 years ago, starting on the California rework for a brief time. Since then, I have been a part of Davido's team, working on Montana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. I am looking forward to bringing British Columbia into our game. Every part of it I've seen so far has been absolutely stunning, and I hope we will be able to capture it in our game as closely as possible. The scenery is certainly a huge switch-up compared to our latest DLCs. My responsibility is a part of British Columbia, which, let's just say, contains a few princes. For this DLC, I will also join our custom depots team. I look forward to trying it out, especially with British Columbia's diverse economic environment."

Rayn

"Soon it will be two years since I first joined SCS, and I am hyped to enter British Columbia along with our team as one of the map designers! I must say the scenery and nature really amaze me... the mountains, rivers, and countryside look breathtaking, so I'm truly hoping I will be able to capture the beauty of Canada. I will also be working on two gorgeous cities that I'm most excited about! It will be a challenge for me, and I am here for it!"

Altie

"After the beautiful Louisiana DLC, where I worked on numerous wetlands and the Oberlin settlement, we are moving on to British Columbia! The mountains, the lakes, and the stunning nature make me feel excited. Right now, I am mainly focusing on roads, but I will be starting on my first city very soon. I have been in SCS for over a year now, and BC is the second project I am working on. Last but certainly not least, I would like to say that I am grateful to work beside so many amazing, kind, and talented people."

And that's it for today's blog! We hope you liked meeting the team working on this upcoming DLC. If you are excited about this map expansion, remember to add British Columbia to your Steam wishlist
