Development version of Euro Truck Simulator 2 with Oculus Rift HD support was demoed a couple of days ago at a big game show G-Star 2013 in South Korea. We have not attended the event in person, it took us a few days to learn the details, but we are very proud that the custom version of our game was among the few applications selected to show the potential of the new high-definition version of this very exciting virtual reality device.
We have found a few photos from the event...

ReplyDeleteZlate ceske rucicky co? Vsetky "sim" a truck hry co som hral doteraz boli o hovne, ale jedna hra bola fakt dobra a hram ju do dnes, ETS2 :)
DeletePřesně tak!
DeletePlease tell us more about upcoming update?
ReplyDeleteThat's great news. Congratulations :) .
ReplyDeletefinally some news
ReplyDeleteI have posted too many comments on this blog and I can only hope that I'm not too boring to everyone but I would really like to know how you use keyboard with the Oculus. It is impossible to play Euro Truck Simulator 2 with keyboard and Oculus at the same time because when you put it on your head you can't see the buttons on the keyboard, same goes with the first person shooter or role playing games. What am I going to do to put game on pause every time I want to check my inventory in role playing game or in Euro Truck to find button for left and right blinker and button for wipers when it rains? :( Now don't get me wrong people I'm glad SCS is implementing this new technology in this game, but I just want to know how to use it with keyboard. bolus(World of Trucks)
ReplyDeleteKeyboard tends to be a bit of a problem when used blindly. Steering wheel control is much better, gamepad is also a good option.
DeleteLearn to type without looking, it helped me a lot. Also makes you use keyboard with new occulus rift, which is awesome!
DeleteThnaks SCS for clarifying this to me. Than I must buy good steering wheel and patiently wait for Oculus Rift HD to try it some day. Anyway you did a very good job without virtual reality. I only use mouse to move my head inside cabin for example when I'm on the crossroad and it looks very realistic. I can see distance between left and right door of the truck cabin when I move my head and it feels like there is much more space inside of cabin. I don't use F2 side mirrors and F3 gps I just move mouse to see side mirrors on the right side while driving in the left lane if I want to make right turn to get to right lane. I always park my trailer from inside of cabin. And when I hear my character is yawning than I know it's time to sleep. Like in the real life. I like it so much. I play Euro Truck Simulator 2 for a year now and who knows how long I'm going to play it. Not like other games where you need to pay a lot of money and you finish the game in couple of days or some rpg games in month or two. This is the best game that gamer like me can get it isn't expensive and it lasts a long time. That's why I'm going to buy American Truck Simulator when it comes out. By the way my version of the game is 1.7.1. and there are no bugs. I never use mods and I have never experienced any bugs in this game, except once when traffic lights didn't want to change to green, but that never happened again. Not even lagging issues and I play this game on ultra graphic settings from the first day i bought it. Sorry for my long comment. :) bolus(World of Trucks)
Deletecpypcy for now I don't own Oculus Rift but when it comes in HD I will buy it to try with the keyboard. And I bet it's awesome. :) bolus(World of Trucks)
DeleteEver since the glorious days of PTTM (which I still play often), blind keyboard steering has never been a problem to me. It is essential to define your own key mapping so that everything you need to drive is always in reach.
DeleteAsk a secretary, you will be confirmed that blind typing is in fact essential.
My mapping:
TAB Q W for directional lights & wipers
A Y (Z on GB/US keyboards) for shifting
S horn
X C motor brake & cruise control
Arrow keys for steering & pedals
lol @ playing a driving sim with a keyboard tap tap tapperoo
DeleteAnonymous November 25, 2013 at 5:40 PM I have also played 18 Wheels of Steel: Pedal to the Metal when it came out but only a little, I didn't play it so much like I'm playing now ETS2, but it was a great game. I wrote down your mapping in notepad so I can try it when I get my hands on Oculus. :) bolus(World of Trucks)

DeleteIf I were to buy an Oculus, do I also get a young and attractive oriental woman with it? Just askin....
ReplyDeleteYeah but only collector's edition
DeleteThanks for the news and congratulations SCS!
ReplyDeleteOh for fucks sake don't tell me you whinging pricks are going to start hounding SCS for the 1.8 update. Seriously, cut them some slack. Be patient and stop acting like a bunch of retarded, little girls. Thank them for being so involved in the community and the game at all, some developers don't give a second shit about their consumers and SCS is certainly NOT one of them. Count your blessings. P.S. great work as always SCS keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteyeah just be patient, 1.8 is on the way, maybe 2 or 3 more weeks.
ReplyDeleteПлохо если так
Delete다프 신차가 나오는건가?
ReplyDeleteSo these goggles make the screen look like a 3D TV? Do they track head movement also?
ReplyDeleteWhat is he using to drive in the second picture?

ReplyDeleteI can not wait to try this new technology in my house.
