American Truck Simulator Demo Released

Greetings truckers!

If you are still unsure whether to take the risk and buy the game for fear of technical incompatibility, we are happy to announce the availability of a free American Truck Simulator demo. Try it out to make sure the game will work on your computer before making the purchase decision. You can grab it from Steam now, just as the game itself.

The demo is limited by the number of jobs taken and only contains the state of California, but technically it's identical with the game itself. If you purchase the game after playing the demo, you can continue driving where you have left off, as the save game stored in the demo mode is compatible with the full game.

    2. MsHeavyAlex: SCS team doesn't need negative campaigns. I don't know what is you main problem. They clone the ETS2, and create much better game. For example: More realistic highway crossings, more detailed cities, police car, ambulance car, more city life, more delivery possibilities, weight stations, parking difficulties and much better truck sounds. I am not interested in how they coded the game (brand new code, or copy/paste). I really like ATS. The map is not too big, but very detailed, and I can see the directions of expansions.

    4. hey mike, question for you. Are you a virgin? do you wank off in your minivan while listening to teen pop, then think to yourself: I should go on a public blog pretending everyone likes to suck dick like I do, then feel proud about it? you look like a bloody idiot dude. Here's a tip. go to rehab, get rid of the many addictions you obviously have, get a job, get rid of your internet connection, and stop videotaping little girls at the park while touching your penis. For the love of god.

    5. Modding times were back, a lot of creative people who will look somewhat frustrated with this reality. The art does not alter the business but are unfortunately for them a intrusos..e kept wanting to create for the game a beautiful American bus, I'm told it's not possible and some segudores scs groups have decided to handle the capricious manner Moding alternative, you do not have access to the files unless certain people choose to share his method of editing. The moding is a very ancient activity and certainly have changed the wooden bits.

  3. The “demo” is a great idea that will help a lot of people make that final decision. I'm not sure if it should be just for a limited time though. There's always the chance of new people in the future being unsure of whether or not to buy the game. Having a demo to depend on is always a great asset.

As for the trucks. I completely understand about the licenses. Their not in your control, and you can only do so much when constantly having to wait for companies to finally make up their mind.

I'm sure you noticed my constant complaints about the game. Sorry, but, unfortunately I don't agree with your decision to have the game be designed for those people who lack the ability to multitask. I know there are a lot of people who really should just stick to solitaire, and that's fine. But ETS2, and ATS deserves more than just a solitaire type gameplay.

    a) You give us a game where a main focus is to deliver trailers. But you won't give us the ability to purchase our own trailers.

    b) You give us a game where a main focus is to purchase dozens of garages. But you won't give us the ability to customize those garages.

c)You give us a game where a main focus is to hire drivers. But you won't let us manage those drivers.

The cities are always small. You can't get out of the vehicle and walk around. Can't see our vehicles parked in your garages or yards. Can't do anything.... except drive up and down the road. You don't even add things to the game for us to spend our money on. At best you raise the fines in the game to slow us down from achieving income.

This is why I complain. This is why I accuse you of designing a game that is “all graphics and no gameplay”.

I appreciate the demo. Its a great idea. However, I have already decided whether or not I will be buying the game. I'm deciding no. Its a great game... but... for me... its too empty. The game just doesn't consist of anything. And you don't seem to have any interest in having the game be anything else accept pretty to look at. So, unfortunately we are at a stalemate.

    1. You said it's all about going up and down delivering trailers, then you say it's too much nothingness and empty gameplay.

Maybe, just maybe, people who enjoy this game so much want a relaxing drive up and down experience. This game relax me so much after a hard work day.

I get you, you expected more. Maybe, just maybe, this game is not for you, as you said. I don't know if it's all about the graphics either. It's a good looking game, but it's not like graphics is the main focus.

      Delete
    2. NOT maybe. This game "isn't" for me.

And I don't understand your argument of.... "wanting to just relax" after a long day at work.

What are you saying exactly? That someone will be forcing you to purchase your own trailer? That having the ability to customize your garages will make the game more stressful for you because you will have no choice but to use those garage upgrade options?

I don't understand how the game would be different for you if SCS added some optional features. IMO, added features would open the game up to more players who are looking for different stuff to play around with, while leaving the the features optional for those of you who just want to drive up and down the road.

    4. muzickmage,

Not forcing. I find it relaxing, just getting from point a to point b, listening to a radio, me and the horizon, day or night, but specially at night. Yes, it would be nice to have more features, of course. Not that I'm interested, but don't get me wrong, the more the better. As long as it doesn't break the game, somehow.

      Delete
    5. Agreed. I defend your point of view as well. It would be nice if SCS would make the effort to create a better balance of game options so more people could enjoy the game they prefer to play.

    6. He is right SCS been out for decades now with different trucking game 18 wos hauling was the game it gave you alot of what you wanted. I was hope for the same line of thing and even better and yeah the missed it with the same idea has ETS2 pretty much a cut and paste kinda world yes the world looks different but under all that it is the same. I would love see more trailer owner ship more of different pick up and drop of point not warehouse to warehose all the time. What about like field to warehouse. Field to the co/op. Just don't know why they missed those mark so bad.

    9. @muzickmage: I appreciate your fairness - you are defending your ideas without slipping into rough talk, thumb up, man. But I don't quite understand your priorities. For me, it's "driving" what appeals me most on this kind of games. Yes, from my point of view it's all about driving from A to B. And then, little, just very little it is about the vehicle I'm (virtually) sitting in. I heard somebody complaining about tubes not connected to trailer, no smoke coming from pipes... I hardly noticed that before. Why? Because I'm spending perhaps 95% time in cab view and I'M DRIVING. I don't care whether the trailer behind me belongs to the company or to me. It's totally pointless for me. And I couldn't have cared less about how my garage looks like. Honestly, it has never even come on my mind to try to modify it. I don't spend more time there than absolutely necessary. I believe there are many other games out there about decorating houses, managing drivers and things like that. But there's only very few of them about driving (I mean non-race driving). So, for me it's only what you can see from inside the cabin what really counts. Roads, cities, complex crossings, scenery views, oncoming traffic, AI behaving as much naturally as possible, obstacles around parking lots, weather, sun ray effects in the morning and evening, etc. And then when I park my vehicle before turning off the game I observe it from outside for a few seconds - so, yes, the truck model is also quite important. Everything else is just a garbage in my opinion and I don't miss it at all. If you could admit there are players like me (and I guess I'm not alone) you would probably understand why SCS opted to do what they did and why they did not focus on things that some people (like me and those like me) may find totally unimportant.

      Delete
    10. Yes, I can admit that there are other virtual truckers, like yourself, who like the same general game preferences as you. And yes again, I trust you're not alone in your type of gameplay. But also, can you admit that there are other players, like myself, who have gameplay preferences similar to mine?

The key to understanding the argument, as well as respecting it, is realizing that everyone is different. We all like to play our games “our way” with our own preferences being met. And when considering those gameplay styles and preferences, ETS2 and ATS are more-so-than-not compatible for some players a bit more than it is for others. That doesn't mean we all hate the game.... but rather, we hate the lack of involvement that some of us are seeking.

You say you don't care whose trailer you are hauling down the road. That is doesn't matter to you who owns it. Fair enough. I can respect that. But how many times, and from how many people have we seen posted the request for the ability to purchase our own trailers? Though you are likely not alone in your “lack of caring”, at the same time, neither am I.

My priority is to play a game that offers “me” something as well. NOT just a game that everyone else likes. I don't want to pay nearly $30 CAD for a game because “you” don't care about owning your own trailer. Or because the game is nicely compatible with “your” interests and playing style. What does that do for me? And others like me who also would like to see some added features?

My overall argument is that SCS doesn't offer a game that allows for diversity. The game doesn't take into account people's unique playing styles and preferences. I agree, adding some optional features will not please everyone. Simply because alot of people do likely play the game like yourself, and don't care about these features. But, adding some optional features will please some of us. And that opens the door for SCS to increase their fan base as their games deliver to a wider range of playing styles and preferences.

    11. Oh man, I have absolutely no problem to admit there are people like you, it wasn't the point of my post. I'm not fighting against your dreams and I'm not offending your right to demand something. I just said I didn't understand your priorities (in the context of ETS and ATS games). These games are about DRIVING and if you find driving boring, you probably play wrong games. It's as simple as that.

I also said I believed there were other games that might suit you better. I'm not an active player anymore but I do remember games like Sims, GTA, Test Drive Unlimited... where you could do many things from your "wish-list". You could buy vehicles and see them parked in your garage, you could walk outside, go shopping, dress your avatar, decorate your house and things like that. Or you can play Farming simulator and go seeking bottles or gold coins (which I personally find quite weird, but yeah, there are people who think it's cool to have it in FARMING simulator).

Let's put it this way - I wouldn't mind if ETS/ATS contained things you wish for. But from my point of view the added value would not justify the effort spent on implementing them - considering it's a DRIVING game. It's simply a genre of game where these things don't really matter. It's not tycoon, it's not manager game, it's not "full-real-life" simulator... it's a driving game - like ship simulators, train simulators, bus simulators and those alike. Usually you don't buy individual vehicles in such games, not to mention decorating garages and such... well, unimportant (in this context)... things.

      Delete
    12. As you stated ....... “From my point of view that added value would not justify the effort spent on implementing them.” ........

...... Fair enough then. Let me concede to the argument and suggest that ETS2/ATS should never strive to be more than what it currently is. At no time should it ever evolve. Expanding the game so that it appeals to a wider player base is a complete waste of time... as decided by those (like yourself) who already have from the game what they're looking for. To expand the game above the expectations of those who are already happy..... I admit, that's not really a fair request. Especially when I could just as easily go somewhere else and play a different game. (as you also pointed out).

I wonder what the general consensus would be if we stripped the game down further using exactly those politics? I recall seeing someone post once that they didn't understand people's need for multiple trucks. They only use one truck (they said) and questioned why SCS would waste their time creating a bunch of them. Like “you” he was baffled by people's interest to “have more” options. So ok. Lets delete all the extra trucks and leave the game with just one.

Also, what's with the multiple parking spots? Again, as you pointed out... the game is about “driving”. Its not a “parking” game. Right? So, from your point of view, the added value wouldn't justify the effort of implementing them. Unless of course you like the multiple parking spots. Then the priority of such an addition is likely no longer confusing for you. You will of course understand the priorities of the game you want for your self. Right?

As for everyone else. We heard you loud and clear. We are always free to leave and go play a different game.

    13. Man, now you are getting quite a bit pathetic and taking the talk wrong direction. You are pushing it to extremes just to illustrate that extremes are wrong. It's like if I'd accused you of demanding a chess to be implemented in ATS (why not? more variety, more fun, bigger player base, more customers... am I right?) No, extremes are stupid, we don't need to discuss them here.

Parking is not a game, parking is the integral part of driving. It's very similar to landing phase in flight simulation. Let's be honest, that's the most difficult part of the drive/flight. I understand that some people don't master it right from the beginning. And for those there is this "multi-spot" parking feature. For me it's pretty reasonable. Definitely more than tubes connected to trailer or my personalized logo on the trailer.

The same goes for trucks. They are the essential part of driving. Without trucks there would be no driving. I can drive without trailer if I'm forced to, but not without the truck (in context of truck simulator games). More variety in this area is very welcome. As well as more variety in roads, crossings, environments... well I'm repeating myself, I have named it already before.

And don't feel pissed off if somebody says the game is probably not the right one for you. It's just the matter of fact, if you find driving too boring then it's probably time to change the game. You can still return back when you feel like driving again. There's nothing wrong about it and no offence meant. Once there is a multiplayer in ETS/ATS I will surely be happy to meet you on the road :-) And I mean it.

      Delete
    14. Don't need to be extreme lol. Hahaha. Let me show you a better example of your use of the word..... extreme.

Lets look at it from this point of view. You suggest that there are a lot of players who play the game for similar reasons you do.... which I completely agree. However, my argument is.... that's not good enough.... because there isn't enough of you to keep the game moving forward economically. Your group is too small.

ETS2, in the last 3 years sold about 2 million copies. ATS, so far, sold about 200,000. But because of the design of ATS, it is likely it will be directed to the exact same type of player/style market as ETS2 was. This makes it reasonable to assume that ATS won't sell much more than ETS2 did.........

.......... ATS, for the most part, is being sold to the same people who purchased ETS2 (plus) likely some new players willing to give the game a try (minus) maybe some players who are disappointed that the game is a copy of ETS2 and don't offer added features (equals) about the same game sales total (give or take).

Its just a matter of time before SCS achieves market saturation. (meaning) There's no more players like “you” to sell the game to. SCS, if wanting to sell more games, will have to start looking at people like “me”. Unfortunately for SCS however, I want more features.

So when you claim that “the added value would not justify the effort spent on implementing it/them” .... I have to disagree. According to the principles of economics.... you are wrong...... not only in the area of opportunity cost, but also in the area of economic attainability.

      Delete
    15. Also, why would I get pissed off because someone suggested that the game might not be for me..... when it was “me” who posted clarification that in fact “the game isn't for me”.

And if you argue that more variety is welcome, then whats your concern with me requesting exactly that....... more variety?

My initial post simply pointed out.....

If a major focus of the game is to deliver trailers, then its only reasonable for us to want the ability to purchase our own trailers.

If a major focus of the game is to buy dozens of garages, then its only reasonable for us to want the ability to customize those garages.

If a major focus of the game is to hire drivers to work for you, then its only reasonable for us to want some type of interaction with those hired workers.

Now, I also agree that not everyone will want, or appreciate these type of features, and I also agree that these features would be better as “optional” so those who don't want or appreciate them can simply turn them off, or .... not turn them on.

Outside of your not understanding my priorities, whats your concern?

  5. Save yourselves the trouble - ATS is the worst game you'll ever play, a complete and utter disappointment - it is ETS2 with a new skin, NOT a new game .!

I couldn't count the hours I've played ETS2, but I can't even look at ATS after forcing myself to reach level 15, and I only did that to see if the truck upgrades improved the game - they didn't, and it's the biggest waste of money ever.

I'd get more fun out of going back and playing the original ETS from 2008, that's how bad ATS is.!

    2. Same here, hence the disapointment after such a long wait, and the release date being put back, and back again. I enjoyed Extreme Trucker 1 & 2 more than this.

SCS should be ashamed of themselves for calling this a 'new' game, and I wish another software company would start to rival them in the truck sim business...one which will use todays technology, not 2011/12 technology.

      Delete
    3. I'd like to see another gaming company start a trucking sim as well. SCS just isn't bringing stuff to the table.

After 3 years of ETS2, and hearing their supporters ask for different ideas and features to be added to the game, SCS gives us nothing. Just a copy and paste of ETS2. That's it.

They didn't even make the effort of trying to make ATS look different. Right down the the menu system. Same everything.

Its just pathetic. I mean seriously. Its just pathetic.

I am loving American Truck Simulator and I have been playing it hours on end since I bought it last week. I;ve just taken a break from playing it for the past three hours. The only disapontment is the map is so small and the scale of the map is even smaller than ETS2. I can go from one end of the map to the other doing 90MPH most of the way in 45 minutes.Still this is one of the best games in my steam Library.

    6. So what you're saying Steve is... you are ok with the game not evolving? Its ok with you that we didn't get any new features added to the game? You have no problem at all supporting SCS games even if they don't evolve ever???

Wouldn't you like to be able to purchase your own trailers? Customize your garages? See your trucks parked in your garages? Get out of your vehicle and walk around?

You are perfectly fine with the game receiving absolutely nothing new and being more so than not a carbon copy of ETS2?

Geesh man. Live a little. With your enthusiasm mankind wouldn't have discovered America in the first place lol.

    8. The problem with this is that we DID get new features in ATS, weigh stations, working police cars and choose-able delivery lots, just to name a few.

And to the comparison between ETS2 and ATS, why would you change a working game? If it ain't broken, don't fix it. Trucking isn't really that different between Europe and USA, so it doesn't make any sense that the games about them would be massively different.

You don't need a new game for the game to be good. There is a time and place for new games too, I agree, but ATS doesn't really need that.

      Delete
    9. I find it simply amazing how all of you can be so demanding. Most game developers have 1 game engine, and slowly improve it over time. You cannot expect a totally new engine after just a few years, especially given that SCS is still comparatively small-time compared to the gaming giants. Furthermore, SCS has stood by and continues to stand by ETS2 as it will ATS, providing free content & DLC at a rate which the majority of the bigger game devs would never do, and here you are asking for even more! If you want completely new graphics, buy a different trucking game, or wait longer while the game engine is developed & improved or switched in the future. Stable high quality game engines don't grow on trees! They take years, insane amounts of time and effort, and are never truly finished either. On the final point regarding the amount of material in game, ETS started the same way, awaiting licenses and spending time fleshing out the EU. High quality development takes time. Give it the same amount of time ETS has had and you will have one hell of a new game!

      Delete
    10. I find it amazing how you are NOT demanding with "your" money? Don't you have any self respect? Or are you the type of person who will buy anything just because it advertise it on TV?

And what's this you are talking about? Other companies don't do this, and don't do that. Well, take a look around the gaming community. Other companies add new features to their games. The ones that don't... go read the reviews about those games.

If SCS wanted to really sell their game. They would offer something to purchase. IMO ATS doesn't have anything in it to purchase.

  9. People have to be patient. This is and will be a great game. After you've played the game you'll forget that it's still the ETS2 graphic engine. The ambience, gameplay, scenery, trucks and states that will come in the future make up for that.

  10. I can't believe ATS only received (nearly ) 400 negative reviews so far. Then again, if you read some of the positive reviews... they're not all that encouraging either.

I have to wonder though, being that SCS has about 50 employees. How many of those employees had some friends and family create some starter positive reviews on steam? If each employees asked just 20 friends and family to type up a good review of the game.... that would make 1000 of those positive reviews on steam irrelevant and biased.

Then of course there's the modding community who will blindly follow SCS just for their own benefit. ATS gives them another game to mod... and of course we download their mods, which gives them personal attention and gratification. So they will likely give the game a positive review even if the game sucks.

    So far on steam:
    Positive reviews: 4313 ..... Negative reviews: 396

Maybe this is why we are being offered a “demo” all of a sudden. Its interesting we didn't get offered a demo before the game was released. But we are being offered one now.

Personally, I don't think the demo is going to encourage sales. If anything, the demo will help people understand why they shouldn't purchase the game. Which is probably why we didn't get the demo BEFORE the release date.

    2. I agree with you, there are a little bit too many positive reviews, but the game is still worth buying imo...just wait until more mods come out, they are the only things that make SCS games really worth buying...Without them,ATS loses its charm after about 20 hours...

    3. I agree. I've said it myself many times. SCS is only successful because of the modding community.

    4. Just because the game is getting lots of positive reviews doesn't mean a lot of them are fake. Some are hating the game because they want more than SCS can offer them at the moment. Just like ETS 2 this game will get new features , larger map and more trucks in the future. I don't blindly give SCS positive feedback , I actually love ETS 2 and ATS. I've played the death out of ETS2. Since I registered the game in steam I have 246 hours of gameplay and double that before I registered the game in steam.

    5. People want more than what SCS can offer at the moment?????? Please tell me you didn't really say that. We are not asking SCS to offer us anything at “the moment”. What we are asking for, and greatly disappointed about, is that SCS didn't offer us anything over the last 2 years and 5 months of designing ATS. 2 YEARS AND 5 MONTHS steve. NOT at the moment.

Are you trying to say that the last 2 and a half years wasn't long enough for SCS to offer us something new? All SCS had time for in the last 2 and a half years was a right-click of the mouse on the “copy” and “paste” options?

Give me a break Steve. You can't actually believe that.

I tell you what if you think you can do much better with a small team like SCS the Amazon released a free game engine which allows you to design your own game. Go ahead and develop a better game than ATS because the software is free.

Yes I did say that. SCS is not a big developer like EA or Rockstar. Its a small company working on two games at the same time and yet you guys want a lot more than they can offer.

No they DID NOT!!! Copy and paste. Theres so much they have changed in ATS. The map is completely different with all the map assets different. The deliveries are different. The trucks are different. The weather effects are different. Theres a lot different in the game.

    10. No Dude with overactive 8 button. SCS is a small company. Their sales don't say how many employees are in the company.

    11. Well there you have it. It didn't really take you long to fall back on that same old nonsense that so many of you use when you don't know what else to say.........

... “if you think you can do better, then blah, blah, blah.. etc.”

Well listen Steve. I understand you like the game, and SCS. And that's fair enough. I respect that. But.....

Please keep in mind that whether or not we can do better than SCS is irrelevant. “WE” are not the ones publicly asking people for money for our product. SCS is. And.... we have the “Consumer Right” to question, analyze, and judge, any product, and/or service offered to us by any company, and/or person(s), for the purpose of soliciting from us a benefit. I, (we) are just exercising our “Consumer Right”.

As for the changes to the game you are trying to point out.... let me remind you that ATS for me cost nearly $30 CAD. So, I want to know what is different about ETS2 and ATS that warrants $30......

...... multiple parking spots, toll booths dumbed-down to act as weigh stations (that don't do anything), and traffic cameras moved from the signs to moving AI vehicles...... isn't worth 30 Canadian dollars.

And maybe that's the difference. Maybe its easier for U.S. Residents to pay $19.95 USD, than it is for a Canadian to pay $28.95 CAD. We are likely looking a different price tags here. (or maybe we're not... I have no idea). Either or, I am not paying nearly $30 for ATS. IMO... the game isn't good enough for that price tag.

    12. Yes Steve, the map is very different...it's £ucking tiny..!

I drove with just the tractor unit from the most southerly town in California to the most northerly in about 20 minutes at 90mph, and that included a huge crash.!

Other than the skin there is very little difference. American trucks and no 'Jake' brake, just the same exhaust brake as the European trucks.

A new "Skilled Parking" feature which would have been great had they stopped the infuriating £ucking pop-up box keeping breaking your concentration when you're struggling to see in the mirrors.

So many little things they could have improved, learning from the bad things in ETS2...for instance when they released Scandinavia, they at least put in "Auto Pass" lanes in the annoying tolls, but now with this 'new' game they do all they can to make it annoying again with the stupid and pointless weigh stations. If you could decide what was going on your trailer and had to calculate it yourself, it might be of some (still annoying) use, but what's the point in weighing a load you have no control over?

Sorry, but the game is 5HlT, a complete let down, and I'm certain there are other companies out there who could seriously rival SCS, either forcing them to listen to the fans, or put them out of business.

They've been doing this long enough now to be innovating and making leaps and bounds in this type of game, but they're content to just stay in the same rut, as long as the fans still buy the game.

They don't deserve the licensing from Kenworth and Peterbilt for this rubbish.!

    13. You are wrongArt Goggles. I finished playing the game about an hour ago and I went from one end of the map to the other doing 90MPH and it took 45 minutes. I do agree though the map is tiny and I hate that too but its the only thing I hate.

    14. This game is such a waste of license Kenworth,Volvo,Peterbilt. They looks so poor, and you think now its 2010.Map is horrible made nearly as idencital map as Scandinavia.

    15. Steve, I've just run it again with a stopwatch this time..from the first part of the map just south of San Diego, to Holbrook, 16 mins 30 secs approx.

If you want I'll Frap it and put it on You Tube.

Don't know what route you took which could possibly have taken 45 minutes???

      Delete
    16. here's what i hate..
the map looks a lot like Scandinavia dlc from ets 2. some service areas a swear they are copied and pasted... the lack of service areas.. why only one in each city?? so if my truck needed service while I am driving on the highway i have to wait until i arrive to nearest city.. i remember in 18 wheels of steel American log haul, you can find service areas near the highway way. you take an exist to reach fuel station and service. most of the time you take a long way to reach them.. which was great.. they should replace those awful green animated pointer of fuel and companies and service areas.. the activators.. you call it a simulator so make it look like one.. i miss the chatter from 18 wos hauling and ALH. we were hoping for something like that in ATS but more improved. instead we ve got nothing.. the pointless weight station.. eithrr lose it or make it useful.. no freaking pipe smoke.. i can go on and go on... i just want to say for some people here we are not asking scs for the impossible here some of the stuff were already in earlier games.. i don't know maybe back then their fathers were in charge. now just their kids. haha.. anyways you guys stop being lazy. we're asking for simple stuff that make all the difference

    17. Honestly, I enjoy ATS a bunch. The map is much more detailed then ETS 2's crappy base map. Even if the map is small, we are getting Arizona for free in some time. Otherwise, if you dont like how small the map is, try learning how to use the map editor. And make your own expansions.

      Delete
    18. Also, if you wan to complain more about the base map. Compare the work SCS did to ATS's base map, and then compare it to ETS 2. Then come back to me.

The price of the game 15 USD
I'm paying 50 TL with own currency
Citizens earns 1500 TL in Turkey, not 1500 USD.
So that, the price of game should be 15 TL in Turkey, not 15 USD

Just cause you earn 1500 TL, doesn't mean the game has to be cheaper for you.
Get a job that pays better. It's not all about YOU.

per your logic, if you earn 15000 TL the game has to cost 150 TL ?

  15. Well consider time they had to work on this game. I do find it a bit dissapointing! In many ways. They have copied ETS2 to ATS. A little bit improved ETS2 in different landscapes and different trucks! They are not Microsoft. But they could have donne better job. Booth in ATS and certanly ETS2! I do enjoy the games.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. There's a different point of view for everything.

As they developed stuff for American Truck, since it's the same engine (as lots of games are, just update the same engine), they also updated ETS2.

So you could think they were very generous updating a game that they actually didn't have to, because those improvements were developed for the newer game. But they were nice enough and kept updating a game, since what? 2008?

I don't know. I like to see positivity in everything. Of course, the game sold like there was no tomorrow, so it was not entirely love, not like done purely out of pa$$ion. But they always treated us nicely, decently.

    2. LOL, Copied ETS 2 in ATS ? Please, only about 4 models are copied from ETS 2. If you compare the work SCS put into ATS to the work they put in ETS 2, you cant even compare. What do you think SCS has spent 2+ years working on? Yes, new buildings, new prefabs, new icons, new logos, and new details. ATS has a extreme amount of detail. ETS 2 is mostly rushed *Other then the Scandinavia DLC*. I am honestly tired of everyone complaining over ATS. SCS software has worked on adding detail to this game for 2+ years and this is the negativity they get. Do you know how hard it is for a company with only 50 workers to make a game? It's rough. Thats why they want you to buy their game. And in order to do that, they stepped up with details. And made the game look better. And, if your going to complain now, lemme just state that we are getting a 3rd state for free. Also..SCS is already working on New Mexico, according to the models that I saw on the content browser in the Map Editor. http://prntscr.com/a2btpl

  16. "This is the best simulator ever" why ?
Nothing different between ETS2 and ATS !
Players will not have own trailers in ATS like Haulin,LH.
Players cant sleep in the truck like in Haulin,Long Haul...
The carrier will be same like ETS2 what carrier in ETS2 with 2 jobs you make 150 000Euro and you buy last model of truck with big engine transmission full extras and etc. for 2h or max 5h game.
This is not a carrier. Carrier is to start with old truck used without your trailer to work hard for companies who pay very little money to learn to save money to buy used or new trailer.to save money again and to buy some new truck or used but in good condition....
To make contracts with companies and to drive for them or they to give you better payment loads...
You cant see your truck on own parking lot like Haulin and Long Haul.
Or to see them in a Traffic.
You can find loads for you drivers and you trucks or rental trailers somethings like in PTTM. Or Haulin.
Now in ETS2 you are not THE BOSS you just buy one truck and the driver make what he wanna whatever he is the boss not you.
You cant control you driver and how many to pay him, when to go in service station, what to load...
What is real in one game where you need to up levels and add points to can drive ADR Loads long distance and etc....
And you cant pay for ADR Certificy and to add on one trailer adr sign.
This points will tell me can i drive economically or not....where have realism in that or simulation ...or for long distance and etc...
Scales they dont show you how many is your weight and if you are overweight or not HOW ITS REAL just only if you pass or not...what scale is that.
SCS can make players to lift up and down every axle who have airbags or on the trailer now they rework this function from ets2 and to put into ats and players to slide tandems.
In one interior in one truck have maybe more from 20keys they cant make one key to move they cant make one sensor on dashboard to move and work like from real life.
They cant make better simulation and the condition on one truck to depends from the driver to see him oil sensor, water sensor, brakes if this truck need oil to change filters and etc player to can waste one engine and when repair him to cant make him like brand new and other parts get him comply with the rules on the road !
Because they one day will get driver license and will drive similar like in the game ! RECKLESS ! ! !
Sorry guys but its not a simulator ! Simulator was PTTM,Hard Truck,Haulin but not that with every game or version they recede from the simulation and real life...

  29. You must be new to SCS games... Basically the engine is the same as on their second release: 18 WoS: Across America, all they did was push it very little with every new game.
They removed major features years ago and never brought them back even tho the modding community went apeshit about it. "we always have the mod community" -say what? What is left of the actual modder community? A bunch of lego playing wannabes that never went trough the struggle of actually working on models. Name me one good model that has been made exclusively for ETS2! All the Scanias are based on Sh3yr0's old one he made for PttM, which is still state of the art. Most of the scratch modelers are long gone and all you guys get is recycled and stolen stuff. Thanks to SCS for their great support and help they gave to the modding community, eh? Seriously, I'm not a hater, I'm just disappointed to see no progress even after 12 Years of being part of the community, being part of the greatest time for their games. Nowadays the community is nothing compared to what people did years ago. But yeah, go ahead and call everyone a hater, even tho they just wanted something better.

ETS2 was my last game I bought from them. I'm sick of paying 20 - 30€ every 1 - 2 years and get nothing but a improved graphic engine. Woohoo, thanks SCS. I much rather have features, like actual air suspension, actual real container shipping, actual working double pivot points and so on, the list is quite long and of my list i made years ago the only thing i was able to remove from the list was tag axles. Wooohooo thanks for that SCS, took you only 10 years to implement it since we first asked for it!
The only new feature is larger trailers, all else we already saw it in ETS 2. No new physics, no new UI design, no realistic crashes, no interaction with the world you're driving in. They could just done it as an expansion or DLC for ETS 2 and start developing a better game instead of a reskin of old game engine mechanics. I hope ETS 3 comes out, right now if you mod GTA V with some real-branded trucks and a scripted mod to emulate ATM would be a better experience that SCS showed me with these "game features".
    - Such a hater

    2. Ha ha...level 20 allowed me to have the full cab, and frankly it was about as exciting as watching an egg boil ;)

I had expected so much from this sim, especially given how many times the release date was changed, but it is a boring sim, and even if they released all of the other US states tomorrow, and gave them away for free, I still think it would be a complete yawn.

Boring, boring, and even more boring...there's little else can be stated about ETS 2 with a new skin...I've lost all respect for SCS now, really wouldn't waste a penny on another DLC, and don't even think I'll bother downloading the Arizona DLC when they release it.

By the way, my thinking is that they'll string both the 'free' Arizona DLC, and the Kenworth W900 DLCs out for weeks to get more idiots to buy the game. They are probably already complete, in fact they probably have every other US state complete, but they're going to milk this rubbish for all it's worth, and all the time pleading poverty and "SCS is a small company with only 50 employees"

Well, £uck that...with the money they've made from ETS 2 they ought to have at least tripled their staff, and be making a genuine effort to make this genre their own, but if just one quality software firm took them on tomorrow, they'd be out of business within the month.!

SCS, RIP you lazy, greedy and unimaginative people...I hope the other US truck manufacturers NEVER give you license. You might have duped Kenworth and Peterbilt, but you still have so many others to fool...MACK (don't do it.!) Freightliner (don't do it.!) Western Star (don't do it.!) in fact a message to every other US truck manufacturer...(don't do it.!)

As you can see after almost 9 years they have yet to finish the Europe map for ETS2 and they have yet to introduce support for dx11 because the engine that they use for their games is old, very difficult for them to modify it for consoles.
Also SCS are relying to much on modders for their games so it would be kind of difficult to port it on console.
