BIG In Iowa

Abnormal Loads ahead! Those looking for an extra challenge in our upcoming Iowa DLC can find new Special Transport contracts in the job market. Think you've got the skills to deliver heavy and oversized loads? Let us show you what's on the road ahead!

Drivers ready to take on the challenge will find 3 new Special Transport jobs in the Hawkeye State, each of which have been carefully planned ahead with escort vehicles and local police enforcement ensuring a smooth delivery. Even with the extra help and clear roads, completing these job contracts will require careful driving and full attention to the road, especially when manoeuvring around built-up areas.

Whilst the job is tough, drivers who do successfully complete these Special Transport deliveries will be paid pretty well! If you're up for the challenge, look out for Special Transport DLC job contracts in Iowa between the following cities:

Dubuque to Mason City
Burlington to Iowa City
Sioux City to Des Moines

If you already own the Special Transport DLC, these new contracts will be ready for you to pick up once the Iowa DLC is released on July 10th. Excited? Don’t forget to add the Iowa DLC to your Steam Wishlist to be notified of its release. We appreciate all your support and look forward to seeing you take on these challenging deliveries. Until next time, keep on Truckin'!

Iowa: Des Moines

The capital city of the Hawkeye State is getting ready to welcome truckers from all over the country. Today, we're sharing a preview of this key stop in the upcoming Iowa DLC for American Truck Simulator - another look at what's coming for our #BestCommunityEver.

Des Moines sits at the confluence of the Des Moines and Raccoon Rivers. It began as a fort in the mid-19th century, but the community grew quickly and was officially incorporated as a city. In 1857, it took over from Iowa City as the state capital. From those early beginnings, Des Moines has grown into a major city with a population of over 214,000 residents.

We've already teased Des Moines' most iconic landmark in the Iowa DLC announcement - the State Capitol, featured prominently in the graphic. This striking building, known for its golden dome, was completed in 1886 and showcases the Greek Revival architectural style. Make sure to admire its beauty when passing by!

Of course, the State Capitol isn't the only landmark our map and asset teams have brought to life. You'll be able to drive through downtown Des Moines and spot several faithfully recreated locations, including the local sports arena, administrative buildings, bridges (such as the Iowa Women of Achievement Bridge), and even some local art, all carefully designed to reflect their real-world counterparts.

If you head north from the Capitol, you'll spot a local liberal arts university founded in the late 19th century. Its campus blends classical and modern architectural styles, making it a distinctive and eye-catching part of the cityscape.

When it comes to job opportunities for truckers, Des Moines offers two main logistics hubs for pickups and deliveries. In the northern area, you'll find a construction and a shopping mall depot, along with a key local tire factory that features a unique office building suspended above the road. The southern logistics zone is home to a chemical plant in need of regular supplies. In addition, there's a grain elevator and train service depot in the city that both require your hauling expertise.

We hope you are excited to visit this metropolitan hub in Iowa! If you do, make sure to add this map expansion to your Steam Wishlist! Also, remember to follow us on our social media (TwitterFacebookInstagramTikTokBluesky, and YouTube) or sign up for our newsletter for more news from the world of American Truck Simulator. We will see you on the road!

SCS On The Road: Volvo Experience Center Vlog

We're headed to the Home of Volvo! In our latest episode of our SCS On The Road series, we journey to Gothenburg, Sweden, to visit the impressive Volvo Experience Centre, and get hands-on with three iconic trucks from Volvo's modern lineup.

Join Oscar, our Director of Global Partnerships, along with members of the SCS Vehicle and Sound Teams, as they set out from our offices in Prague, Czechia, to Sweden. There, they had the opportunity to get up close, and even behind the wheel, of the Volvo FH Electric, Volvo FH16 780, and Volvo FH I-Save, capturing everything from detailed photographic references to sound recordings for use in our projects. We hope this episode offers an engaging behind-the-scenes look at how our team works to faithfully recreate these mighty machines in-game.

The team were also invited to explore the newly opened World of Volvo, a museum and experience space celebrating both Volvo Cars and Volvo Trucks. If you’d like a closer look at that visit, don’t miss our dedicated SCS On The Road: World of Volvo episode, which we released a little while ago.

We’d like to thank our friends at Volvo for their warm hospitality and support during this visit. Be sure to check out the full video below, and don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe if you've enjoyed our SCS On The Road series! Until next time, keep on truckin’!

Route 66 Rework Project

If you've been wondering where our rework efforts will head next after the successful overhaul of California in American Truck Simulator, we're happy to reveal that now. Our next step is the Route 66 Rework, where we'll revitalize selected parts of this iconic highway!

Over the past couple of years, our team has completely reworked California, one of the original states from the ATS base game. This massive project involved wiping it clean and rebuilding everything from the ground up to reflect the real-world Golden State more accurately, and to showcase just how far our game has come since its release. That rework was completed at the end of last year, and now our talented map designers have shifted their focus to the next exciting project.

With the upcoming release of the Illinois DLC, the historic Route 66 will finally be completed. However, not all of it currently lives up to the standards of our current map design. That's why we've kicked off the Route 66 Rework Project, focusing on key segments in Northern Arizona and parts of New Mexico, especially along I-40.

We aren't reworking entire states just yet, but instead concentrating on towns, roads, and areas along Route 66 that need the most attention - everything will be rebuilt from the ground up to be brand-new for a more immersive experience for you!

While this phase focuses on areas tied to Route 66, our teams have multiple rework projects across the map up their sleeves. So don't worry, there's more on the horizon!

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our journey along America's most historic highway by following us on X/TwitterInstagramFacebookBluesky, and TikTok, or by subscribing to our newsletter! We look forward to sharing more with you in the future.

Scandinavia Refresh: Aarhus

As part of the Project Scandinavia Refresh for Euro Truck Simulator 2, we’re excited to introduce a brand-new addition to the map: the city of Aarhus, Denmark’s second-largest city! Our talented teams have been hard at work bringing this fresh location to life, and today we're happy to share a look at their progress.

Known as the City of Smiles, Aarhus will be accessible to drivers travelling along the E45 motorway, with two major highway junctions leading into the city. Aarhus itself features a blend of modern infrastructure and thriving industry, making it a must-visit destination for truckers!

One of the major landmarks in our recreation of Aarhus is Dokk1, a striking multi-purpose library and cultural hub located on the harborfront. It is the largest public library in Scandinavia and was named Public Library of the Year in 2016. Nearby, you’ll also spot the Havnearbejdernes Klub Århus, a historic waterfront building that once served as a social space for dock workers.

An industry we couldn’t leave out is the Port of Aarhus, Denmark’s largest container port, responsible for handling more than 50% of the country’s container traffic. Consistently ranked among the most productive container terminals in Europe for crane moves per hour and overall berth efficiency, it plays a vital role in national logistics and supports a strong local economy. We're sure drivers will find plenty of job offers here!

Surrounding the port are numerous industrial sites, large and small, including a chemical factory, which players will be able to deliver to and from. Be sure to brush up on your ADR skills before heading in!

Our team has also included several cultural and architectural highlights to give the city a distinct identity. Drivers can come across sculptures such as “Historiske Spor” by Danish artist Jens Galschiøt, as well as two unique art murals that bring a splash of local character to the streets. While exploring, you might also catch glimpses of other distant landmarks such as the International Student Centre, Domen Aarhus, Aarhus City Hall (with its tower visible on the skyline), and even the spire of Aarhus Cathedral.

In the heart of the city, players will also find the Aarhus Bus Station. This central hub has been carefully recreated with attention to detail and will eventually play a role in the recently announced 'Project Coaches' module. Whether you're delivering goods or preparing to transport passengers, Aarhus should have something for everyone!

We’re happy to bring this much-requested addition to the Scandinavia DLC as part of the ongoing refresh project, and we look forward to sharing more from this development in the future. We always appreciate your support and feedback and until next time, keep on truckin’!
