Nordic Horizons: Ålesund

Today we are excited to give you a first look at Ålesund, an interesting and unique city that will be featured in our upcoming Nordic Horizons DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2. This city is built on several islands, connected by bridges and tunnels that make for an exciting coastal layout on your journey there! Let's take a closer look shall we?

Visiting Ålesund will offer you a route unlike most others. The E136 highway brings you directly into the city centre, where narrow streets are lined with colourful buildings and waterfront views open up between them. From here, drivers will be able to continue westwards into a marine area that is home to a fisheries depot, one of several industries represented in and around the city.

Fishing has long been a cornerstone of Ålesund’s economy, but today the city is also an important hub for a variety of sectors. Truckers can expect to encounter jobs connected to a container port, a beverage factory, a chemical plant and a logistics company. With so many opportunities located in a relatively compact area, Ålesund will surely become a busy stop in any driver’s schedule across Norway and beyond.

Ålesund is also known for its distinctive architecture. After a fire in 1904 destroyed much of the city, it was rebuilt in the Art Nouveau style, which remains one of its defining characteristics today. Players will notice this influence as they pass landmarks such as the Art Nouveau Centre, the Kube Art Museum, Hellebroa bridge and Rådhusplassen square. Overlooking it all is the hillside of Aksla, which provides a natural backdrop that truckers may spot on the skyline as they drive through.

Often described as one of Norway’s most charming cities, Ålesund also serves as a gateway to nearby fjords. While truckers will be focused on deliveries and depots, we believe the city’s atmosphere and unique look will leave a lasting impression as you pass through its streets and industries.

We look forward to sharing more about Ålesund and other destinations that will be part of the Nordic Horizons DLC soon. Until then, don’t forget to add the expansion to your Steam Wishlist to stay up to date with the latest news and previews. Until next time, keep on truckin'!

SCS On The Road: Scania Touring Walk-around

We’re back with a brand-new episode of our SCS On The Road series! This time, our journey takes us to Södertälje, Sweden, where we visited the Scania Demo Center.

Our team spent valuable time on location conducting sound recording and scanning of the Scania Touring. These activities are an essential part of our development process, allowing us to gather accurate references and authentic details that help us bring vehicles to life inside Euro Truck Simulator 2. With the Scania Touring, we captured everything, from the unique exterior and interior design to the subtle sounds that define the driving experience of a modern coach.

We would also like to express our gratitude to Scania for their hospitality and support during our visit to Södertälje. Their cooperation made it possible for us to gather everything we needed.

We are very excited about what this addition will bring for our players and can’t wait to show you more! Until then, we hope you’ll enjoy this SCS On The Road episode and get a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes work that makes these projects possible.

If you're looking forward to hitting the road in the upcoming coaches, don’t forget to add the Coaches DLC to your Steam WishlistBe sure to follow us on our social media channels on X/TwitterInstagramFacebookBluesky, and TikTok, or sign up for our newsletter for the latest updates, announcements, and behind-the-scenes content.

South Dakota: Settlements

You will come across some really wonderful settlements in the Mount Rushmore State. In today's blog, we would like to show you some of them as our map designers are preparing these smaller towns for the upcoming South Dakota DLC for American Truck Simulator.

Belle Fourche

This town of just about 5,000 inhabitants is located on the western border of the state, near both Montana and Wyoming, and not too far from North Dakota, which makes it a regional trade center for people from these surrounding states. It holds the distinction of being the center of the nation because when Hawaii was admitted to the Union in 1959, its landmass – added to the landmass of the continental U.S. – shifted the geographic center approximately 20 miles north of Belle Fourche.

Faith

This town is located in the northwest of South Dakota, just on the border of the Cheyenne River Reservation. Truckers passing through this rural settlement will be able to spot a local church, a fossil museum, or a metal dinosaur statue, all currently being recreated as landmarks by our asset and map designers.

Huron

Nestled in east-central South Dakota within the Glacial Lakes and Prairies Region, Huron sits along the scenic James River, an area rich in natural history. Travelers passing through will also find the town's famous landmark - the World's Largest Pheasant statue.

Interior

With fewer than 70 residents, Interior may be one of South Dakota's tiniest towns, but it shouldn't be overlooked. Established in the 1880s, it's the oldest community in the Badlands and serves as a gateway to the sweeping, rugged beauty of Badlands National Park.

Murdo

Situated just off I-90, east of Interior, Murdo embodies the spirit of the Wild West through its cowboy-themed events and historic attractions. The town is also home to a remarkable museum featuring more than 200 classic cars - and we paid tribute to that heritage with our own recreation of one of the town's landmarks: a distinctive green vintage automobile.

Timber Lake

Timber Lake sits along the Native American Scenic Byway, a route that showcases sweeping views of the Missouri River and the region's untamed, rugged landscapes. It is also nestled along the bank of the beautiful Timber Lake, so keep your eyes peeled for some scenic surroundings when you are driving in those parts!

White River

Located south of Murdo along U.S. Route 83, White River is a small community of just over 500 residents. Named after the nearby Little White River, the town is a gateway to outdoor adventure, offering excellent fishing and hunting opportunities, along with a strong cowboy culture that's celebrated through local traditions and events.

Valentine

Although Valentine is already a city in our Nebraska DLC, its location near the northern border makes it a natural fit for expansion. With the South Dakota DLC, we're extending the city further north to include several notable landmarks. This approach - expanding border towns when introducing a new map DLC - is a common practice that helps create a more seamless and immersive experience.

And that's all for today! If we got you excited about this map expansion, make sure to add the South Dakota DLC to your Steam wishlist

Remember to follow us on TwitterFacebookInstagramBluesky, and YouTube for all the latest news from this map expansion and American Truck Simulator, or sign up for our newsletter to stay informed. Until next time, we wish you happy travels!

We’re thrilled to release the KRONE Agriculture Equipment DLC for both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator! This latest addition expands your job roster with a powerful line-up of officially licensed, KRONE-branded farming machinery.

KRONE is a global leader in high-performance agricultural equipment. From mowers and balers to forage harvesters and wagons, their machines form the backbone of modern farming. But productivity doesn’t stop in the fields, these machines rely on truckers to deliver them where they’re needed, making drivers an essential link in the agricultural sector.

Both of these DLCs feature new cargo types, including large-scale agricultural machines such as harvesters, balers, rakes, and mowers, all meticulously modelled by our Vehicles Team with a high level of detail. Pinktober 2025

Every year, October brings communities together worldwide to stand in solidarity and raise awareness in the battle against breast cancer. Pinktober, marked by the iconic pink ribbon, stands as a reminder of unity, strength, and the importance of knowledge. This campaign also serves as a crucial call for all of us to take better care of ourselves and to spread awareness among everyone.

Recognizing the signs and being proactive about health can make all the difference. Regular self-checks, staying informed, and scheduling professional screenings are some of the most effective steps we can take in protecting ourselves against breast cancer. Sharing these habits and encouraging others to follow them helps strengthen our communities and brings us closer to a healthier future together.

Supporting Through Driving

Since 2019, we at SCS Software have proudly stood with our community to support this important cause. Each year, through the sales of our special Pink Ribbon Charity Pack DLCs for American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2, we’ve worked together to make a tangible difference.

Just as in previous years, 100% of the income from these DLCs will be collected and donated to the Alliance of Women with Breast Cancer, our chosen charity partner, at the end of October. Thanks to your incredible support in past Pinktober events, we’ve been able to contribute directly to their mission of helping and empowering those impacted by breast cancer.

If you haven’t yet added these DLCs to your collection, or if you’d like to surprise a friend with a thoughtful gift, now is the perfect time. Not only will you be adding some meaningful flair to your trucks with the vibrant Pink Ribbon designs, but you’ll also be directly supporting a great cause.

More Than Just Awareness

While customizing your trucks and spreading the word is a wonderful way to show solidarity, we also encourage you to focus on the most important aspect of Pinktober: your health.

  • Take the time to perform regular self-checks.
  • Stay informed about potential symptoms and risk factors.
  • Visit your doctor for regular screenings and professional advice.

These small but vital actions can make a big difference in prevention and early detection, and they are the best tools we have in fighting breast cancer effectively.

Share and Inspire

We’d love to see your support on the road! Decorate your trucks with the Pink Ribbon designs and share your screenshots on social media using the hashtag #Pinktober2025. By doing so, you’ll not only spread awareness but also inspire others to join the cause and contribute in their own way.

We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to every player who has supported Pinktober in past years. Your generosity and participation help save lives, raise awareness, and support those directly affected by breast cancer. Together, let’s make Pinktober 2025 another month of unity, awareness, and hope.

Drive safe, stay healthy, and thank you for being part of this journey with us.

How To: Proper Cup of Tea

Ah, the art of a proper cuppa, quite essential, wouldn’t you agree? We’ve put together a little video to show you how it’s done, because no driver should let their tea take a wrong turn. You may just need this knowledge on the road ahead…

Scandinavia Refresh: Copenhagen

Velkommen til København! Today, we’re taking a closer look at Denmark’s capital city, which has been worked on as part of our ongoing Scandinavia Refresh project for Euro Truck Simulator 2. So what changes can you expect to see? Let’s dive in!

First and foremost, Copenhagen has been completely rebuilt from the ground up, offering players a fresh driving experience through one of Scandinavia’s most iconic cities. This has by no means been a small feat, "The city of Copenhagen was my biggest project since I started working for SCS." Albert B., one of our Map Designers tells us.

Serving as the gateway to Scandinavia, Copenhagen’s location and the Øresund Tunnel serve as a vital link to Malmö and the wider Scandinavian Peninsula. “I tried to create the illusion of scale and distance" Albert tells us, "so when you drive by the tunnel or follow the coast in Copenhagen, you can actually spot Malmö on the horizon.”

But Copenhagen has even more layers to explore. “It’s a very modern and yet very historical city, and I did my best to show both sides,” says Albert. From winding through lively districts to passing stunning landmarks, players will notice how history and modern life come together on the road network itself. “The city is very modern even in its road network, which plays an especially important role in our game. Almost everywhere you drive, you can find a bike path leading there, it doesn’t matter if it’s the city centre or a faraway industrial depot."

In the heart of the city, drivers will be surprised to find an amusement park where a main square might usually be expected. What's even more surprising is that the Rework of Copenhagen will feature two fully animated rides. It’s the perfect spot to grab a unique screenshot of your truck. We really have to give a shoutout to our Assets and Animation departments for bringing these rides to life!

Just a short drive away, you’ll find the Copenhagen City Hall, the Christiansborg Palace and the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek Art Museum. All of these unique Landmark locations have been recreated in detail by our talented teams, so don't miss out on seeing them!

Copenhagen is also home to some truly unique architecture. The striking twin residential towers located near a challenging underground depot will surely catch your eye; but that's not all. Copenhagen is also home to one of the most innovative waste management plants, which is not only sleek and modern, but also doubles as a ski slope which overlooks the sea.

Yes, you read that correctly! If you choose to purchase your garage here, you’ll be located right in front of this one-of-a-kind landmark, just don't get any crazy ideas!

On your travels in the city, you’ll also be able to spot the Danish Architectural Centre, which is described as an international cultural attraction for those who want to experience and understand how architecture and design create a framework for our lives.

However, don't get too distracted by sightseeing, as there is plenty of work to be done! Copenhagen will feature a variety of depots, including an oil storage facility built on its own man-made island with sweeping views back towards the city, a food processing plant, logistics centres, recycling facilities, an underground depot and even access to the cargo section of the Airport. Copenhagen is filled with opportunities for truckers to discover and take on.

“I hope players can fall in love with this city just like I did,” Albert concludes. “It has been an honour to work on such a stunning place”.

Excited to visit? We look forward to keeping you updated on the development of this project, along with sharing more screenshots and insights into the work taking place. Until next time, safe travels, and bliv ved med at køre lastbil!

Louisiana: Custom Made Depots

In today's blog, we're heading back to the Pelican State! This time, we would like to give you a closer look at some of the custom depots where you'll be picking up and delivering cargo to in the upcoming Louisiana DLC for American Truck Simulator.

Unlike standard prefabs, these depots have been carefully assembled by our map designers using a variety of assets, giving each one a distinct look and feel. Many also draw subtle inspiration from real-world locations. Today, we'll be showing five of them: three farms and two timber harvest depots.

Agriculture once formed the backbone of Louisiana's economy, but over time, its role has shifted. Even though it remains quite important today, only a small share of residents make their living from farming, with most of the production concentrated in a relatively small number of large farms along the Mississippi River. These farms produce a wide range of goods, including cotton, rice, soybeans, feed grains, poultry, eggs, and beef.

In the Pelican State, you'll come across custom-made farms near the city of Natchitoches, the Oberlin settlement, and the Oak Alley Plantation. While Oak Alley is now primarily a historic site and museum, we felt its beauty made it a fitting addition as a delivery location in the map expansion.

The timber industry began to rise in the late 1800s and remained a key part of Louisiana's economy well into the 21st century. Today, tree farming has become the state's most valuable agricultural activity. Louisiana now ranks among the nation's leading timber producers, with the vast majority of its forests consisting of softwoods, primarily pines. You can find one of the custom-made timber harvest depots near the US-156, while the other one is located near the town of DeRidder, close to the Texas border.

We hope we have got you a little more excited to haul cargo in Louisiana! If we did, make sure to add the Pelican State to your Steam Wishlist. Don't miss out on all the latest news from our upcoming DLCs and projects by following us on our official social media channels (X/TwitterInstagramFacebookBluesky, and TikTok) or by subscribing to our newsletter. Until next time, happy haulin'!
