Euro Truck Simulator 1 on Steam

Five years late (and five years after we started trying), the original Euro Truck Simulator is finally on Steam as of today, basking in the success of its younger brother ETS2. Here is the Euro Truck Simulator 1 Steam Store page.

Both Windows PC and Mac OS versions are available on the service (note though that the Mac build is a very different codebase from Windows version and due to file format incompatibility does not support mods).

By now the game is of course an old classics in the genre, but it may still be interesting for players just now discovering to the truck sim phenomenon...

    1. that's not GTA, it's better, you can drive truck with trailer, it's not like f***ing GTA IV, where you cannot attach the trailer on truck. Worst game ever.

    2. I hope in GTA V we could attach trailer on truck, otherwise I don't want to play it.

    3. It's not an ARCADE game, you idiot ! It's a SIMULATOR !!!

    4. GTA V is coming they better have trucks with attachable trailers!! And I want to drive planes to and recreate the 9/11 a couple of times.

    8. Alright then... Because some kids don't understand it, I'll explain the term simulator.
      SIMULATOR
One that simulates, especially an apparatus that generates test conditions approximating actual or operational conditions.
What means that a simulator tries to "simulate" real life stuff.

To go a little deeper on that; real life stuff is as boring as watching paint dry.

So you can either bitch the aspects and use of life in general or move on.

If you bought ETs 2, you should've atleast considered looking up the word "simulator".

Anyway, long story short: if you've bought ETS 2 and you think it's boring, you can suck it. I also recommend not to look at ETS again nor look at this blog again.
And for the love of goodness, don't post useless things and/or hate comments.

Sincerely someone who tries to fight ignorance and stupidity.

    9. I'm 100% sure attachable trailers is in gta 5. Just look at the second trailer rockstar released. In one scene when they film the highway, LOADS of trucks with trailers attached were driving on the highway.

      Delete
    10. I hope so, because in GTA IV I couldn't attach trailer and other trucks weren't so good for driving, I didn't like the game, it was boring.

I'm one of those asking for news / updates, but if that's all you have to say, you'd better take that precious time of yours to work on your projects instead........

Just punch yourself in the face and then shove your head up your ass, because that's the most useful you'll ever be with the brain activity of that level.

  19. I hate steam and other similar things like origin. Reason for that is those fuckups they regularly make. Lets say example simcity launch just couple a days a go.

I know that there is people who like those same things, and usually for them it's easy place to buy game on sale, perhaps otherwise hard to find local store. And that's good for SCS.

For ETS2 I hope that we will get double trailers for north Europe, perhaps winter. (my argument for that is diversity, and interesting new things to expand lifetime of ”German simulator whit tee twist.”)

Please also fix AI-traffic. It makes clusterfucks at crossroads, and best part is when you load a game it manages to hit you destroying your truck or cargo, even the way that you may not notice it until after finishing the run.

For ETS3 please make multiplayer. (argument. Players will get multiplayer, and you will get copy protection at some sort. I bet that players who want play it online, don't wont use same cd key that rest of the innternet does. Just keep it simple and don't follow diablo 3 or latest simcity.)

    Keep up the good work.

  28. I've been wondering what a multiplayer would be like too. Listen SCS, the reason why some games still survive is because they're updated. Take Team Fortress 2 for example. That's had constant updates; a massive evolution since it first came out in 2007. Not many games have such a large fanbase for such a long amount of time without doing something right.
Take it from Valve. (I'd like to say now that I'm not an advertiser trying to promote TF2).
Multiplayer is something seriously worth considering. Carry on.

  31. Do you not understand, the reason why this is good news is because it gives SCS more opportunity to make MONEY to develop their current game. If you want SCS to survive, any news like this is good news. Especially when it reaches a huge platform like Steam. Yes people like me will have stopped playing ETS a good while ago but if you want ETS2 to get bigger and better then any money SCS makes from their library of games is good news for us.
When I say Us, I mean true fans of SCS who appreciate their work.

    2. Well, it COULD be good news, money-wise, but not the kind of news that should be placed in first position.... Pavel, you'd be rotten in journalism (MY realm of expertise).

SCS should first update us on ETS2 and their future projects and THEN, and ONLY then, tell us about small things of lesser importance.

Just look at SCS' forum and you'll see that ETS2 is THE subject of the hour.

So yes, that was news, but surely not THE news we'd expect after so long... :(

  32. Will there be the release of other games (German and UK truck S)? It is nice to remember all the hours of fun I had with ETS 1. Yes it looks a bit outdated but it's a nice classic to have. Way to go SCS!

  33. I really like to read some comments...
This release is for SCS make money to still develop new content...

I hope that some Restaurant owners don´t read this, otherwise they will beliave that is possible to give costumers spoiled food to earn money for fresh food... and beliave costumers will return after that...

Someone wrote about Rockstar Games: they did the right thing: Release date is 17 September! and that´s it! don´t need to ask or wait for anything else till there.

The problem in here is that SCS shows that want´s t give something to costumers, but there is a lack in time, they don´t assume commitements, targets, goals.... it´s all " we will release... when it is done"

    Go watch http://www.eurotrucksimulator2.com/
enter the NEWS section: last update 5 October 2012! yes in this Game official website.

This kind of news about ETS 1 should be published in http://www.scssoft.com/

At this time, this blog must be all about ETS2 or about the Future games, like EuroCoach ....

Just an opinion from someone who really cares about ETS2

    Cheers to all
