Euro Truck Simulator 2 version 1.7 update

There are actually two pieces of news we'd like to share with you today here, and also in a more graphically richer way on World of Trucks.

NEWS #1

The 1.7 update is available! Yes, the big star of this update is the new Volvo FH and FH16. Freshly off closed beta, we are in such a hurry to give it to you that for now we just have the Steam-only update ready. But please have patience with us, non-Steam version of the update is coming soon. (Or of course you can take advantage of the fact that any genuine Product Key we have ever issued for the game will also activate the game on Steam. Once.) The logistics of the release is actually quite simpler for us when working with Steam.

NEWS #2

With Halloween coming, we have created a special Halloween Paint Job Pack DLC for the occasion. It features 6 exclusive dark and scary themes applicable to all trucks in the game.

For veteran players of the game creating and using mods, we are aware that this is not major news for you - you can always satisfy your truck tuning appetite with a vast variety of custom mods or even your own creativity. But there are tens of thousands of players out there who never dare to apply any unofficial mods. We believe that if we take this road, we may be able give them something interesting and worthwhile. And of course completely optional.

After several months of work, we have just finished the new truck model, and we are giving it to our player base for free. We are committed to giving you more free trucks in the future, actually already two more are under development.

The idea with the paint job DLC is that such small paid-for "cosmetics" DLCs are our chance to accelerate development of the core game. Instead of begging for donations, we can offer something of value to help us fund further evolution of the game. And if this catches on, we'd like to consider more than just simple paints - there are definitely more cool opportunities, like offering support for decorating the inside of the cabin.

The Halloween Paint Jobs Pack DLC available now on Steam. This DLC is a Steam-only release. With our limited back-end infrastructure for monetizing and managing DLCs, we are not going to offer it from the official website.

We hope you'll enjoy driving the new Volvo FH and wear those beautiful Halloween paint jobs as much as we enjoyed creating them! Thank you!

Excuse me? I bought the game as well and I don't want to use Steam, so I can just go and fuck myself? What the hell is this bullshit?!
Great way to treat your customers SCS...

    1. + 10000 !!!! I, too, paid for the boxed version and now I can't have the skins??? This is called DISCRIMINATION, dear SCS team!!! Because I bought a LEGAL BOXED copy, I'll be penalised, as well as THOUSANDS of other customers??? As said previously, what kind of B.S. is that ???
Are all the BOXED version users a SUB-CATEGORY of customers to you???? You better rectify the situation very promptly!!!

      Delete
    2. you just activate your licence on steam and youre good as with the CD key. You can always play without steam even if your copy is activated on steam. You just make shortcut to the games folder and remove the Steam "internet" link. But to get updates you just have to run steam sometimes. :)

      Delete
    3. I paid for the box version too, Added my serial to steam and everythings fine, Man up download steam, use your serial and get your updates, Nobodies forcing you to be part of the steam community thereafter.

I don't see why your shunting the blame on SCS, When they took the sensible approach.
      Man the hell up already.

      Delete
    4. Why? Why would I do that? I've bought the boxed version of the game! If I wanted to use Steam, I would've bought the Steam version.

I don't like Steam so I do not want to use it, but SCS is giving everyone except Steam-players the finger. It's idiotic, I payed for their game, but I can suck it?

And I don't even care about Steam, if I'd have to, I'd download Steam. But it's just that SCS basicly says: ''No, everyone else can either download Steam or go and sit on a very large stick.''

This sort of fuckery is just very EA-ish... And if you're not familiar with EA products I'll explain it to you: it's not very good.

      Delete
    5. Non-steam = cracked version on the internet => No Money for Developers => No money on developing new stuff => No More DLCs => No More Fun...

Steam version = safe = fast updates = new DLCs

      Delete
    6. You can pirate A LOT of Steam games (especially the ones that have no multiplayer, like ETS 2)...
      So that's horsecrap...

      Delete
    7. Guys, it's a paid DLC, 1.99$. Your react like it was free and only for Steam users, well it's not. If you really want those skins than use Steam. Also it's cheaper for them to released it on Steam only than releasing it on steam and website. On the website someone has to take care of the customers and that means more money spent.

  13. Is DLC just for Steam?

For people raging about steam its really easy to active your game there(once your on steam look for the +add a game...button and enter your key) It updates automatically so whenever an update comes out you wont need to download update files etc and you don't lose any stats/profiles so nothing to worry about there.

Is steam forcing you to do this? If it is just tell me I know some guys who can bring down their website forever. Those guys are very expensive but I would pay them if steam is forcing you to do this against you own will. Forget about steam, you will lose costumers because of steam. You don't need steam. 24. Erm. I have noticed a bit of an issue with the new Volvo. If you have a 6x2 or 6x4 chassis with a low loader trailer, then the trailer sits too far forward on the fifth wheel and the rear of the trucks chassis clips through the trailer. What were them beta testers doing again?

  34. I'm fully supportive of this DLC (even though I won't be purchasing it myself) IMO it's a very good way to raise money because no ones going to donate to a profit making company.

"And if this catches on, we'd like to consider more than just simple paints - there are definitely more cool opportunities, like offering support for decorating the inside of the cabin" I'm slightly concerned about that quote though I don't want customizing the truck to become like a freemium mobile game. That isn't to say that I would have a problem with a cheap THEMED DLC pack like this one also including interior enhancements though. These are all just my personal opinions. :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. I really think small DLCs like this is the way to go! I wont buy it, but I like the concept. I also love how you're releasing updates focusing on a few things more often. Good job, guys!

  42. I am very dissapointed SCS again. Why don't you just wait a bit and release both steam and non-steam update together? I am really fucked up with the shit called "Steam"

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Exact reason is that deploying on Steam is much simpler for us. It's so simple that we are testing public beta and temporary builds there. If there is significant problem we can make another patch in few hours and automatic updates fixes all player's game correctly (that is not possible otherwise). And if all works correctly then we can safely release non-Steam version.

      Delete
    2. And u think we care what is simpler 4 u!? We want non steam update NOW! FU and steam n whats simpler 4 u, i PAID 4 this game just like steam users, and WAY before them, when u cried 4 money, now u r BIG company so u can fool around!? Im not using steam nor i will EVER use it, u cant MAKE me!

    3. Thanks for kind response.

The fact that it is easier means we save a lot of time. And we can work on other updates instead.

And there is no need for freaking anyway. There will be non-Steam updates as well. Just be little patient.

      Delete
    4. Hi Max I apologise for the bad behavior of some people here and I thank you for the free volvo but making paint jobs for only steam users is insult for all of us who supported this game. Why there is no option to pay for the paint jobs without using steam? Is steam making you to do this? SCS is just a small company and steam is using you. They do not care about you, they will destroy you. We can protect you from the steam, we are your loyal fans.

That's a lame excuse, i'm also a gamer since the early 80's and if i was reluctant to use Steam at first, i find it way better to use (auto update, ingame chat...) and without thinking about those things, they frequently propose extremely interresting prices...

    1. I was thinking about activating my game on Steam before, but for sure I am not going to do this now when they are kinda forcing me to do this.

  81. "The patch for non-Steam users is on the way, thank you for your patience!" Fuck you SCS,we wait 3h.Steam is shit.

  82. Thanks for shafting non-Steam users, you twats.

  83. You´re doing a good job so far, SCS. But why do you let us pay for the paints and give us the truck for free, if you need money? It´s honorable that you give us the trucks for free, but don´t you sell the truck for maybe 4€ and the paints are free? Would make more sense, but ;)
    You are exemplary!
(Give us the next map DLC, please)

  84. Paid for the game, paid for the DLC and now it's like SCS is saying 'f-ck you, we're gonna lick Steam's arse and release an update on it first and you're gonna have to wait'.

    Thank you.

    1. If you've paid for it just download steam and enter your product key. It took me 5 mins to do. I have a boxed version of the game also, I'll just uninstall steam once the 1.7 update is released for all users... Simple. If you've got a legal copy of it where's the issue?????

  85. nice to see the pictures of the new Volvo on world of trucks

but i can't drive it because i have no update

    ReplyDelete
  86. Well SCS, ETS2 is a great game, actually the best trucksimulator i ever played. but i bought the box, and i really don't know why you released the patch first for Steam. I'm actually a bit disappointed.. but i can't change it. hopefully you see that a lot of players don't like the fact you released the patch first for steam, and i think you know that that was a mistake. so please, do not make this mistake at the 1.8 patch again. don't do it for "box-gamers", do it for your community and ETS2. you'll lose a lot of players by doing it over and over again..

    ReplyDelete
  87. U SCS becoming ignorant, and that is not good. Why am i in worse position then the steam users? I paid 4 game just like them, so DONT do that! Talking bout patch and DLC, but DLC is your problem, do whatever u like, but i MUST have patch same time as steam users!

    2. well u can go and fuck yourself, why am i toxic if i demand that i have same rights for same game for same money as somebody else (this time steam users)? is my money worth more or less then somebody else? thats not toxic, just reality, and SCS did a shitty job here, ill rly gonna think good about buying anything else from SCS, FUCK THEM!

      Delete
    3. Yeah "fuck them!" That's right, you tell em mate! You really are a massive bell end aren't you? You have the same opportunity as anyone else here. Just download steam and be done with it. If you don't want steam, then all you had to do was wait that bit longer for the patch to hit the ETS2 website. Its on their now and has been a while. So what is your problem exactly?

  103. I will pay 5 no 10 euros for those paint jobs but only with no steam. Please scs make those paint jobs available to non steam players in a week or a month.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Only stupid coments here... AHAHAH Steam is good and simple, the only thing that the scs dont sell on main website is nem dlc of hallowen. :)
    And I buy of course

    ReplyDelete
  105. Guys chill down. 1. They are making the update first at Steam because the infrastructure is ready to go for every player.
    2. For the paint DLC is the same thing. Steam has a good infrastructure ready to manage the small DLCs in a very easy way. If SCS spends money to make one infrastructure for to be ready to sell little DLCs for everybody we will receive less content in game. They are a little company nothing like EA or Activision. They not have the funds like the big companys. They with Steam saves money to have money to make more content for us.
    3. The Steam are a very good platform. Personally i did not bought the game until Steam release. I have almost every game at Steam and installing a game is just a few clicks and some waiting. And no need to find the CD/DVD for example to be able to play a game what i not played for a long time. Just downloading and playing. It's more easier comfortable. I love Steam. I love SCS. Chill down guys. Stefan.

  106. It's not hard to hear so much whining.

    ReplyDelete
  107. If you're listening, please make 1.7 a Steam Only release. Just out of spite. It would make me so very happy. Trollolol.

Why is everyone whining so much? Yeah Steam isnt loved by all, but it does it's job fine and if SCS choose to distribute through Steam then so be it. I'm not gonna give myself an anger stroke over it.

At the end of the day, all of us, even those frothing at the mouth, will continue to support SCS, Steam or not, cause they rock and so do their games.

Also cannot wait to drive the Volvo. Thanks guys.

P.S. any chance you can slip us a sneak peak of those two new trucks?

    ReplyDelete
  108. keep up the great work, looking forward to new trucks and new dlc's
going to buy all of them soon as i get a job :d

  109. I transfered my nonSteam-ETS2 into Steam, because of more DLC's and faster updates. ;-) just a few easy clicks :))
