Ice Cold Paint Jobs DLC available now!

With winter coming for us here north of the Equator, we have prepared another set of custom truck paints on Steam - Ice Cold Paint Jobs DLC.

This DLC consists of 6 winter-themed paint motifs, the paint schemes are not really locked into a particular event in the calendar, they will work for you all through the winter time. All paint jobs are of course tailored to fit every truck featured in the game. We believe that these paint jobs should coexist happily with any community-created Christmas and New Year paint job competition master pieces.

    1. Shut the F*ck up! people like you are the reason why scs has rushed the patch realese of the new streamline! that is a horrible mess and contains tons of bugs, glitches and it's unfinished! atleast you can be happy that your 1.99 is still in your pocket!

    2. Fuck sake. Are you retarded? How many times has this been covered? Just go and register your copy of the game on Steam. Sick to fucking death of hearing it all the time. Think SCS probably are too.

      Delete
    3. The RETARD way.. is first sell a game online... beg ppl to green light it.. then screw all FIRST players (who bought it because it WASN'T steam-shit)... Thats retarded, impolite and tells what SCS care about... $$$ .. not games!

    4. No SCS is a small company who need funds to make what they want. They know what they are doing.

    5. All these "I hate Steam" types of comments. I have yet to read a good reason why you wouldn't register your copy of the game on Steam. Unless of course you don't have a legit copy of the game? Only reason I can think of why you haven't done it already.

    6. Bought it at first.. and are willing to pay. Not the issue here:
Now playing hacked game with ease.. and gonna continue do so.. Why?.. because company's like SCS.. who piss on there first fans.. don't deserve better! Gonna play on, but SCS not getting anything. Don't care, don't cry.. U get what u sow..

    7. Yeah, you paid for the GAME. This is not the game. This is added content which is optional. For small cheap DLCs, Steam is by far the cheapest easiest way to distribute.
You can get the DLC... install via Steam and you're good to go.

    8. I have money and i want to buy all the DLC's, I have the game and the DLC Going East! of course on Non-Steam version ... I do not like Steam .... I watch the skins DLC's only going to sell on Steam, will the next DLC map also will be only for Steam users? What about the American Truck Simulator? Euro Coach? Simulator? only in Steam? I want to buy everything, but if you're just going to sell through Steam I will not spend my money, No-Steam users have paid more for the game and do not receive the same treatment as Steam users, not betas we can have the patches come out later, the DLC's of skin are not at our disposal, very bad SCS, No-Steam user I feel I feel discriminated against. Thank you for creating material that I can not have if I am not registered on Steam, i hate Steam.

    12. Good reason No:1

I don't like processes running on the background using my cpu power. Even if I had the best cpu on the market.

      Good reason No:2

I don't want such service because I don't need it.

      Good reason No:3

It's not so long ago when suddenly many people lost their email address on Gmail. Remember what happened to Sony? Same could happen to your email or Steam account and you lose your games, alot of money.

Despite all that I still use Steam because of good price offers. And the best racing simulator ever, Assetto Corsa!

      Delete
    13. I agree with the previous reviewer ;)

      Delete
    14. I see out of three reasons only the last can be considered a good reason. The first two are just bollocks. And bitch please! We all know the best racing simulator ever was the first Mario Kart.

    15. I agree for 100% with you. SCS is moving us the first players away. I have the game from first day, not the cd version but bought it at MediaMarkt as downloadable game.

And about Steam, i hope they disapear from gaming network. Nothing good to say about Steam.

      Delete
    16. Ha! "SCS is moving us the first players away. I have the game from the first day"

And? I also purchased it within the first couple of days of its launch. Didn't stop me from registering my copy on Steam the moment I could.

Stop being entitled pricks. Not everyone who plays ETS2 on Steam are new players. Allot of us just don't live in the dark ages unlike some. You're just delaying the inevitable. Steams business model is the future.

    17. Reason why I don't use Steam: I do not trust online things so I do not spend any money on online services.
Because when you lose your account, you lose your games and those games aren't free.

I've lost my Steam account before and I dont want that again, because getting all of the games and my account back was a pain in the *ss.

CD's dont have those problems, you just throw it in your PC and... Ta-da!...

Now stop being a fucking d*ck and accept that some people don't like Steam.

Anyway, I don't think these skins aren't worth it anyway, I've made countless skins for GTA IV and I could probably produce what SCS made with my eyes closed... It's more of a principle thing.

I can understand SCS, Steam is a better way to sell their DLC, but the least thing they can do is explain that to us.

    20. How are SCS against the people who bought the game on disc before it went onto steam? You enter the gamecode that came with your copy onto Steam and it will be added, all you need to do then is download, transfer your files and done! It's not hard. It's what I did!

    21. "No-Steam" You're right! The steam users were to give up a lot, and we were at the store who buy the boxed version and need to be at a disadvantage. I'm not paying for something that I can do it in 10 minutes. *** NO STEAM! ***

    22. I hate that SCS compels me to play the game on Steam

    23. "Now stop being a fucking d*ck and accept that some people don't like Steam."

Oh I accept it, and yes I'll be the first to admit i'm being a "dick". But you have to understand that i'm not being anymore of a "dick" than the people whining about Steam and how SCS don't care for them. Nothing could be further from the truth. SCS is one of the most commited game developers I've ever seen.

"Anyway, I don't think these skins aren't worth it anyway, I've made countless skins for GTA IV and I could probably produce what SCS made with my eyes closed... It's more of a principle thing."

Simmer down Bertha. Now you are sounding like a butt hurt little schoolgirl aren't you?

"I can understand SCS, Steam is a better way to sell their DLC, but the least thing they can do is explain that to us."

They have done on previous posts.

    24. Not is only for the skins, is the priority of SCS with Steam, and discrimination of users No-Steam, will now be only the skins, tomorrow an expansion map, after the games American Truck Simulator and Euro Coach Simulator, you want to play the games SCS games? fine, use Steam, not want to use Steam? fine, we can not play. That's what bothers us No-Steam users, marginalization they suffer when we were the first to buy the games for much more money than Steam users

      Delete
    25. Come on now...

I like many others have at one time said something like "THATS IT! I'm NEVER buying an EA game again." Only to go and buy their next big franchise title. Because if I didn't, I know full well that I would be cutting my nose off to spite my face. Which would be doing the same as you if you say "We just won't play if we have to use Steam." I'm pretty sure the next big game update from SCS and you'll be there waiting to get your hands on it just like everyone else.

And I paid the same as you as I said above. Before it was released on Steam. But you know what? That's life mate! Things do go down in value as they get older. Of course this rule does not apply to everything like classic rare vehicles for example but you understand my drift. You pays your money you takes your chances.

    26. Give me one f**king reason why you would hate Steam. 1 reason. Massive sales all year round, instant updates and support, biggest library of games for sale digitally. Valve put huge effort in creating Steam and here's all the appreciation they get from snobby users. You people are the reason SCS are rushing out all the updates and DLCs...Bearing in mine that they take longer to make for a non-steam platform.
''Steam is a very large garbage, when Steam become bankrupt all users of Steam you will stay without games"
Lol, you don't have any idea how big the franchise is. And, please, correct your english.

    28. Hey, you don't like or want Steam, that's your choice. You don't get betas or the cheaper DLCs.
Listen, it's a very simple economic decision on the part of SCS. These are very cheap DLCs. It doesn't make economic sense to push these out via other avenues for the cost of the DLC. It costs money to host them, it costs more time to get them out via other means.
SCS has explained this ad-nausem. If you don't like Steam, then don't use it. For those of us who understand and love the delivery method that is Steam, we will continue to love the DLCs.

For anyone who "loses" their Steam account. You're a special kind of idiot. Keep your email active and remember your damn password. It's not that frickin' complicated.

    31. I have registered my copy of the game on steam, but I don't want to play the game with steam. I don't care about the betas being on steam or not. But I have lost 2 steam accounts, and that means I lost all the games I had there. And trust me I had sooo many games there.

      1) I lost my first steam account beacuse my e-mail disappeared for some weird reason.

      2) My secend steam account got hacked and I din't get it back, no joke it still happends to people.

So I'm useing my third steam account now. And if there are games that don't need steam but you can add the game to steam... I'm not playing it on steam. Thats my reasons to why I don't use steam to play this awesome game. Thanks for reading. :)

      Delete
    32. You know Steam support isnt great, but if you tell em one of your CD keys to a lost Steam account, they will give you the link so you can change all information on it till everything is ok again.

There is no problems with steam anymore, its a lot harder to hack a steam account now that you need to also hack the email account connected to the steam account to get the key- that will unlock the steam account on that computer...

Im a proud Steam player with 180 games registered all paid for, i got over 1000 dollars worth of games on my account- maybe even 2000 dollars, and i dont have to worry about getting hacked unless i open my account up for hacking!

SCS made the game a Steam game because they needed more money for to create all the patches and stuff for the game, hence why they make these 2€ DLC's, to get some extra cash, so they can create better content for the game...

If you don't like Steam, then stop waiting for DLC's and soon patches, they will be gone for you, and im happy for it- if your not going to support SCS for this then you don't deserve more content for the game.

Im really tired of seeing people complain about Steam, when its only there to support SCS and their games...

I know you non-steam users are pissed at me now, i understand- but SCS needs the money...

  8. I'm getting mad at you now, SCS, because you won't release these small DLC's into the non-steam version of the game. Considering the game was not originally on Steam, I feel like the service you are providing to non-steam customers is lacking hugely.

    ReplyDelete
  9. First off I totally understand why a small company has to release DLC's this way. Much cheaper for them. My copy is not registered on Steam and probably won't be because I bought it before it was on Steam. I have no real problems with Steam though, unless you count how they tried to screw Race 07 users and that little Fable III cd-key fiasco. I do have a lot of games on Steam but like to keep a few free up in case they decide to fiddle with my favorites. Looks like great paint jobs though. Would love to have the wolf one but no big deal! Keep doing the great job you're doing and can't wait for American Truck Simulator.

Steam is not the best but it is the best because there is no other good option. Maybe most of the people should learn more about games and the "real life" because if you don't sell anything you will not earn money, and game devs are working for their money :)

That is how real life works. Look at companys like EA, simcity, 60 euro for the game (shit game btw) and then 20+ euro per dlc (There are like 6 DLCs??) And you guys buy that because: I can buy it from their website.

Just don't buy it if you dont like steam because ???

    1. Ok, No-Steam users do not buy more material of SCS, only buy Steam users, SCS sell less games and DLC's, and the company will not have benefits, SCS will close, and you'll run out close games ... what do you think?

Steam users need the No-Steam users and vice versa, so do you not be selfish and think about everyone. Unity is strength, and the disadvantages of SCS with of No-Steam users is dividing users.

  17. who cares Steam or Non-Steam DLC, its a freaking paint job, good for you SCS, now release the improved AI.

    ReplyDelete
  18. All the no steam users, you made your point of view clear in almost every blog entry in a very often extremely offensive way and I am pretty sure SCS did get it.

But maybe it is slowly time to simply remove those no steam comments. I think SCS made it perfectly clear numerous times why they do what they do and from a business and efficiency perspective it makes perfect sense! I hate comming here because of a new blog post with (up to now) almost half of the comments bothering with steam and partial offending SCS, although everything was said that needed to be said.

SCS, like no other developer I know, is supporting a game that was released a long time ago, not only with DLC's, but with totally new and FREE content and seems to be willing to do so in the future. So far, they've done a lot more than anyone could expect from a low-price title! In the context of todays competition and need for cost efficiency it is totally rediculous to have those "over-the-top" expectations from such a small, yet very commited company while even the big players with a much stronger financial background dump games much faster, even if they are still buggy, not to mention thinking about new content totally free of charge.

So, from a controllers perspective, if I worked for SCS, I made them stop developing and putting more money into ETS2 without any return and instead moved forward to all the planned new titles, putting new content like the AI and physics into a new full price game. And it would be totally legitimate to do so! Although, from a marketing perspective, it is important to keep the customers commited to the company by doing what they do this cannot be considered "normal" behaviour. You paid and they delivered what was promised, a playable game, and that could be it. Maybe you should start thinking out of your tiny "I am the world and everything is about me!" box and come to the real business world where it is all about numbers and efficiency...that a small software company like SCS is obviously so commited to it's work is by any means more than exceptional, nowadays. Like it or not, but this is the reality out there and we all should see SCS as a player in this world.
You see, good I do not work for them :)!

So, maybe also start saying thank you, be a bit more grateful to what SCS is still delivering for such an above-average price-performance ratio.

At least I have to say that I am very thankful for what they are doing to make this great game even better, keeping it alive and most importantly making it fun to play for more countless hours.

SCS, if you read this, continue like you do and I'd be happy to moderate this blog ;).

the game was released unfinished (just 50% of Europe) and with many problems (and also some bugs , the AI is STILL the best example) . so all the updates were NOT bonuses in my opinion, were necesary, to people continue to buy this game.
also with the trucks, have you idea why they decided to offer us new trucks 4free ?
cause of the (a little poor) quality of the game, of course, otherwise that were a good reason for they to monetize their work.
and the game is not really low price title, it costs 25 euro + 10 the DLC + at least another 20eur for more 2 DLCs , to complete the "Euro" zone

      Delete
    5. At first, I do not know the game right from the start, but only after the first one or two patches. This seems to be important to mention, as I don't know how buggy it really was at the launch date.

      - "the game was released unfinished (just 50% of Europe) "

Although, and there I am with you, one could argue that it is not made 100% clear which countries are included in the original title and which are not (at least I did not easily find a map), I'd never expect a 25 € (or 20 € as download) game to cover the whole EU street system. And on the other hand there is written nowhere that the game does cover the whole EU. While this might be considered not quite right from the customer view, from a business perspective this is simply marketing and perfectly normal.

      - "and also some bugs , the AI is STILL the best example"

For me, the AI is always a very important thing. I want it to act as human as possible. Interestingly, I already find the AI to be quite good compared to every other driving game or even so called simulation I tried (back to the good old King of the Road). In fact, I even thought of reviewing ETS 2 for another website especially in terms of AI! So at least for me there were many "wow" moments in connection with the AI. Although, of course, there are some quirks (for me mainly with some map mods with very steep hills, so not really SCS to blame), I was quite surprised to learn that they are doing a major code rewrite. At least I didn't think of them doing it for ETS 2 but more for their future projects. Nevertheless, if it fits into ETS 2 it is of course a great thing for us customers :).

I do understand all the gamers out there who are having real problems with the game and who want them to be corrected. But I also think it is out of the question that SCS is showing a lot of effort in terms of communication and development to get the things done and correct most of the issues people are having, so why all the angry complaining and harsh words?

Especially in connection with the steam subject, they quite openly shared their business decisions as to why they are doing it the way they do. I honestly don't know any software company which disclosed their decision making process like they did.

So, all I am asking for is a little respect as we should not forget that behind SCS there are humans who deserve to be treated correctly, too.

      All the best, Benjamin

    6. This world is like it is because of guys uncritically supporting services like steam, origin, uplay ... i simply don't like trojan horses and absolutely unnecessary dependencies that can render games unplayable for no real reason. So i will continue to comment on Steam whenever i feel the need to.

Also i don't let the argument count anymore that SCS is such a small company. With all the success ETS2 had and thanks to SCS continued support they certainly have the funds to upgrade their sales infrastructure if they choose to do so. Instead they prefer to expand on a pretty pointless "World of Trucks" website. Well we will see.

    7. to Beniamin:
it was not about "whole EU street system" , i mean there were countries like Italy, France, Poland just "touched" by their attention, made 2-3 cities and over. and after the DLC, just Poland was finished, and hungary remains again unfinished. it is not a shooter, RPG, nor Action game, it's a driving-delivery game (not really "simulator" but anyway), and if the DIVERSITY is not present in it, it get very boring, that's why i think at least the important cities in a contry (not 2or3) must be present.

you said that for 25 euros we must not expect for too much - or many (cities). it was kindly and right IF the game had impressive graphics from 2012 all over: exhaust smoke, dust on windows pane, visual damage on trucks, seasons (with better fog effect, hard/light/normal wind, hard/light snowing and snow on everything, hard/normal/light rain), see drivers hands on wheel, and others (dx11). but the graphics and the "reality" of this simulator, didn't impress me unusually, so i expected at least more countries. that' my POV.

PS : hope you like the existent AI, also when a car on other side wants to overcome something, "plants" on your side , in your face and remains there...
or when a MINOR accident happens in a crossroad, and all the traffic blocks for more than 20 game minutes. is better than in NFS (where is not needed anyway), but is far and away for a simulator.
and on first 2 versions, the trucks gets overturn @ 85 km/h on SMOOTH light curves. they mentioned not obviously in the log (just something about physics improvements), but certainly the problem was repaired.

PS2: i have nothing against STEAM, i consider it the best platform for online gaming and purchase. and is faster for them to distribute the content. even if i bought the game on dvd, i activated on steam the next week.

SCS will release 3 more small DLC's(paint jobs or cabin interiors) for steam only and after that they will release all five of them, one big paint job pack for non-steam users for the price of 10 euros, so we will pay 10 euros to have all 5 small DLC's without steam. That's why the price is 2 euros for each paint job. 5 times 2 equals 10. bolus(World of Trucks)

    1. This yes I like it, I hope it is well and in the future No-Steam users can also have all the DLC's, naturally paying the price.

SCS would be nice to say whether this is true and they will do it, for no more controversy.

    2. and when you waked up, it was morning, isn't it? these little updates are just for steam, and are optional

  22. Can we also do not forget, that Halloween DLC money, SCS had spent to record a crash sounds for us: http://blog.scssoft.com/2013/11/demolition-day-erm-sound-recording-day.html

Just this alone makes me respect them more. and I have no problem supporting them with any DLC now or in the future.

  23. i'm very disappointed about this desition... i have a friend who can make this, and even better skins... hes a pro with photoshop, hes even on Microsoft wallpapers site... all this seems desperate to me, desperate, cause you need money for new games etc.... i still going to buy these skins, even if i dont like them and never going to use them. I hope your "Physics" improvements will be worth the time, cause if you do the same shit as NFS Shift did, there will a video on Youtube where i burn whole my SCS games collection in a fire....

If you're making a simulator and want to fit all the the best for all gamer types, do something like, a setup option. if you play with keyboard, here is the best option for you, if you play with joystick here is the best option for you... etc, if you play with a wheel, there is the most hard core mode... if you target this game for all of us as you been before it will be shit... im sorry, but it will...

i'm a hands down, hard core sim fan and you're just killing the ETS2 name... even Rig N Roll had better TRUCK physics (not trailer, trailer physics sucked!)

    get your shit together, SCS!

You either die a hero or live to become the villain.... I hope youll become the hero.

  25. I'm glad this is steam only so i don't have to spend money on it.

  26. To be honest, instead of ice cold paint jobs i'd much rather have some ice cold wheather and snow and seasons in ETS2. I'd really spend money on that one, certainly not on paint jobs.

    1. The way the maps and game is written, it's impossible in it's current form. Basically the game would have to be totally re-written to have seasons or changeable weather.

  27. Hi, SCS Team!
Pleas make an official Winter mod for ETS 2 with snowy roads, dirty trailers and appropriate physics model!
It would be greate in this winter time!

    1. I would like this very much. but I'm afraid that it's not possible, since it's very complex job and may be not worth the effort.

      Delete
    2. it isn' t possible in ETS2, maybe in ETS3 we will have seasons.
but already a winter mod exists, SCS could inspire or buy it, and rework, rethink, redesign all necessary, to give us for money a decent winter mod.
      and same for autumn.
i don't trust 3rd party mods, i play without any mods.
also, i don't like little mods, that ads just lights, or just sounds to a truck.. maybe i would use a mod, when it is about an integral truck or a modification map (winter, autumn), but prefferable made by SCS.

    1. Just bought it and it looks awesome!!! I'll have to say that it's much better than Halloween jobs.
There is a lot of people complaining about this and that, and I'm sure that most of them haven't even bought ETS2. My proposition is that only those who have WOT profile would be allowed to post comments. I believe it to be fair.

  30. Stop " apartheid "
why some things only on Steam? Those who buy on your website, like me, are different? You don´t need my money anymore?

and by the way, ice and snow should be on the roads and mountains, not on trucks.

Keep giving gifts on steam and maybe next time i will not give any of my money.

Hope you all have a nice Christmas

    1. What if I told you that you can use your key to activate game on Steam and get everything you want. If you don't want Steam on principle, than you have no right to complain.

    2. Why only on Steam? For smaller cheaper DLC, it's better business sense to have it Steam only in order for quick, easy and cheap distribution.

  31. Steam ain't the buggy piece of rubbish it was a few years ago.

There's always SteamGuard where the hacker will also need to know your registered e-mail address and the password to that account in order to compromise your Steam account.

  32. I think SCS should make some use on the news feed INGAME (which is seen by all), and put a short notice similar to this one: "Did you know you can activate your game on Steam? Simply use the use game key feature from the menu, and it will be downloaded and updated automatically!".

Many people doesn't even know Steam exists. Others don't know you can activate games there without paying again. There's still lot of people who goes to a store and browses games to install them, not knowing about blog news, or forums.

The news feed in the game is pretty much unused.

About having the painjob DLCs on the official site. Well, I agree that it can be frustrating not being able to have them if you don't have Steam, but nowadays being a PC user you can have it with no problem, no need to have it on background, and you can always use it in offline mode.

For instance, Skyrim mods are only available to PC users while PS3 and Xbox users have to stay with the vanilla game. Fair? I don't know. But I'm sure is a good damn reason for it.

As someone else said here, cloud-games are the future, and Train Simulator 2014 is another good example. All DLCs you buy are on Steam, and even the website redirects the shoping cart to Steam.

And don't get me wrong, I love to have the boxed game with it's manual and DVD, but oh boy, how happy I get when I see it can be enabled in Steam so I forget about inserting CD or having to update it manually.

    3. Updates/patches are free and are actually real game changing content, Aesthetic DLC is not game-changing and should be monetized. It is at fair as it gets. Stop being entitled kids and grow up! (I'm going to ignore the Steam related crap, it's getting more retarded every time)
