Euro Truck Simulator 2 - 1.14 DAF Update is live!

Today's release marks the end of another fruitful beta testing period – during the testing phase, the community has yet again helped us pinpoint and resolve important issues prior to public release of the update.

We would like to thank all of the beta participants for helping us shape the final version of the update, your constant support allows us to create the definitive truck simulation experience.

Check out some fresh images of the new DAF XF Euro 6 truck below. OK, to make the best impression, we have cheated a bit when making those pictures. The vehicle is featured in new areas of the virtual world of ETS2 to be released as part of Scandinavia DLC, already under new 'light and skies' – a new approach to day/night cycle that we are developing now. A little hint of what to expect in future updates! :)

Here is the short version of what this update is bringing to you (expanded version):

Data

  • New truck: DAF XF Euro 6
  • Added three new 6-wheeled chassis for (almost) all trucks
  • Substantial data fixes in most chassis

Code

  • Liftable axles
  • Speed limit shown on dashboard GPS
  • Truck browser shows all upgrades and their level requirements
  • Increased damage for overturned vehicles
  • Higher penalties for damaged cargo (both xp and money)
  • Camera rotation based on steering and blinkers
  • Traffic improvement

Steam and online services
  • Steam Rich Presence: job information in "View Game Info" in the Steam friends list
  • Screenshot images contain additional metadata (game state, vehicle, camera)
  • Upload your World of Trucks profile truck from the in-game Screenshot Manager

Modding

  • New cargo definition structure
  • Per-sector weather climate profiles
  • Goto console command now accepts city names or their fragments (eg "goto aber" teleports camera to Aberdeen)

  3. Having being using the Beta, it's great to see it finalized and released. Takes a bit of getting used to the camera swivel with steering and blinkers, but gets easier plus it is adjustable by a slider :) The lift-able axles is great, even recognizes trailer weight so if your pulling a light load it will keep the axle up (can override it though). So if you haul a heavy load and forget to drop the axle it automatically drops as you drive away. Bonus feature is the new DAF truck :) Nice patch, keep up the awesome work!!!

    2. I don't want no f..in steam. I want an simple dowload link, on your site, like always. Is not right to force anyone in using an aplication or site, no mather the motives. I am disapointed of you for this sh..it.

    3. Antispam: You can whine all you want, things won't change. They had announced that they would move to Steam for downloads as they don't have the server capacity/infrastructure/etc.
Now, either stop using the game if you are so picky, or get used to Steam.
Personally, I welcome Steam as it gets updated automatically (if I want, I can disable that). Why would I want to manually update game files myslef if there is a better way?
What is your objection? Steam's disk size? Its advertisements? What?

      Delete
    4. 5 gb of disk space on server is cheaper than a pair of shoes. And the game and all content can be stored at an free google blog account. Those excuses are for kindergarden.

      Delete
    5. Antispam: That might be so, but when, whatever your storing attracts the amount of traffic ETS 2, and its patches, and DLC do, you can't use a free hosting tool. Its not about server space, its about bandwidth, and I can assure you, that doesn't come cheap. ETS 2's downloads, likely pulls terrabytes of bandwidth.

    6. It's time for people to get over the fact of not liking steam. At this point the majority accepts steam and programs like it because they've realized something, once you buy a program, you will never have to buy it again, if you use hard copies the disks can get worn down or lost in time and if you want to reinstall you're screwed. Downloading direct from companies that still host it themselves can not only mean buying a game multiple times to reinstall, it can also mean you have to patch it yourself, also steam has such a small amount of advertising that's not really a valid complaint, you click close once when it loads to show indie games, and actually that's how a lot of games like ETS2 get recognition, what steam has done for gaming cannot be denied, if it wasn't for steam the indie genre wouldn't be nearly as big as it's become, steam is as revolutionary to pc gaming, as Microsoft was to computers, plus they've configured it to where you can turn on/off automatic updates, you can roll back, you can go back and forth between experimental and release builds, there's just nothing bad about steam. They aren't making billions of dollars doing it, most of the money still goes to the gaming companies, look at SCS, they encountered a huge amount of unexpected growth after the steam green light, people just need to face it, it's the future of pc gaming, and personally I love it, I never have to worry about installing an old game I miss, I can just do it right away. So what could you possibly have against steam, did it rob you? Did it beat you up? I mean really, why are people still so pissed off at a program that is literally just designed to be a safer more convinient way to storing games than having a giant stack of discs, and it's been doing it for over 10 years now, and during that time 90% of the haters learned to like it, so why does there always have to be that one guy?

      Delete
    7. Could be worse, they could do updates through Origin.

      Delete
    8. I can understand problems with Origin, they copied the idea, but their program doesn't work nearly as well, I get DL speeds around 3-3.5mb/s in steam, in Origin I'm lucky to hit 2mb/s, plus EA Customer Support isn't very good, they refused a return on Need for Speed Rivals, I refused to play it on PC because it didn't have wheel support, if I wanted to use an XBox controller I would buy that game for Xbox considering there's likely to be more people playing it on consoles, but the reason they gave me for the refusal was that it had been five days and was past the return date, except it specifically said 7 days to return, and it hadnt technically been five days, it was the fifth day, but if you went by hours instead, I still had 20 hours to return it before it had technically been five days, but to me that was a joke because the warranty said 7 days, and I spent the 4 days of owning it trying to make my wheel work with a controller emulator which was horrible. I lost all patience with EA and haven't bought a game since, not that they are making any quality games that I was interested in, they should stick to sports games imo.

    9. They force me to use steam on my money, not steam's. It does'nt matter if i have-it on cloud or 5.1" floppy disks, as long i pay for it, i have the righ to decide how i keep the program and how i download add-ons.

  16. Frankly DAF Euro 6 is not as good as the Volvo FH16 ... I have driven a little bit by DAF and now I can say that Volvo is the best truck which you have done. The view from the cabin is very good, the mirrors are in the right size. The power of the engine is powerful. Driving is pleasant. DAF Euro 6 is another truck, maybe nice maybe not. I wish you made more trucks like Volvo FH16. Ofcourse it's only my opinion you can disagree with me but first of all try it. Liftable axles is very good option. Thank you for update.

    1. That's just because Volvo is FOR REAL the best European truck, with its 16 liters 6-cylinders diesel motor with 750 HP, and the steering quality of a car. Just look at Volvo Trucks site: http://www.volvotrucks.com/trucks/uk-market/en-gb/trucks/volvo-fh-series/Pages/the-new-volvo-fh.aspx

  39. The update is great - but i just want to report a performance bug. When you driving a new DAF truck and you look at the right side of the cabin, you can notice a serious framerate drop - at least at not so powerful configuration, as mine (Q6600@2400/650Ti OC/8GB/SSD) - there is no such problem in any other truck, so i think the DAF is a little bit "disoptimalised" ;) Greetings from Poland SCS ;)

  43. Hi SCS..this is great..like every updates you release! but as i said before i am a huge 18 WoS fan...i got ETS2 right when it got out because i knew it was going to be awesome...there was some wow moments and modding keep the game alive for 2 years... (Kinda bored of europe and cab-overs sorry and no US trucks mods aren't the same..)

But since i heard about ATS its not just a normal waiting for me its a nightmare :( you post screenshots of ATS in alpha stage which looks very playable and i wish i was in that part to feel the progress on it,i know you really want licensed trucks before an release....

Why not release an early access (before the end of 2014 hopefully) make like 20$ so people like me can play instead of waiting for even a small portion of an release and if people doesn't want an "alpha" then they just need to not buy it and wait since they can.....and then get all the licensed trucks needed and add them later all of them to the game with a big update...if you wait on brands for licensing it may takes DECADES and maybe even longer depending on the brand

Sorry if i was rude before didn't mean to but its kinda frustrating..the more years advance the more i fear i wont be able to play ATS (getting older is no fun when you are unlucky) and NO i am not trying to pity you to give us ATS sooner... -_-

    -Sincerely a SCS,18 WoS fan.

    1. I second that. We need 6x4 and 6x2 chassis for Renault trucks (Magnum and Premium). It's also discriminatory to Renault Premium drivers not to have his photo on your banner image along with the 4 other trucks.
If SCS does not accede to this request I am boycotting their other truck brands in the game and not buying them.

  51. I have 2 questions about this update. Firstly, when can we download it? Secondly, can this "camera rotation based on steering and blinkers" be completely disabled by the player?

I have my own system using 3 thumb buttons on my steering wheel, allowing me to look left, right, and one which instantly brings me back to looking forward.

I for one DO NOT want the camera to be rotating the view in any way unless it is me who rotates it.

If there is no option to disable this feature, then I will be forced to miss out on the other benefits of the update and be stuck with version 1.13.3.

    1. Yes you can disable it, you can bind a key too if you like which is what I do

It's available on Steam right now for retail copies wait a few weeks I guess or activate on steam

    2. Thanks for the reply Kenny, that's good to hear.

I have to admit I know little about gaming as such, apart from playing this, so without appearing too stupid, what exactly is "Steam"?

I've had ETS2 since the day it was finally launched, and the Eastern Europe add on, and have updated each new development as they were released through the updates on here. Is 1.14 not going to be released the same way?

      Delete
    3. Yes it will it's just easier to put out updates and get feedback through steam (Steam is a game distribution/multiplayer/software platform founded by Gabe Newell kinda like Xbox live). You can make a steam account at https://store.steampowered.com/join/ and register your CD key there and you will get the updates as soon as they are available and be part of public betas. Retail game CD keys can be redeemed onto a steam account and if you ever intend to play the Euro truck sim multiplayer mod you need a steam ID (It's a fun mod to convoy with a group of people)

If you have any questions You should be able to get in touch with me through my google profile (The account I'm typing this with).

In my opinion restriction of speed on the navigator would be fine to enclose the rest of time, kilometers not enough there, well and cool the direction would be to make a postscoring, well and together with imitation falling asleep to make a small counter of the tachograph that is when there is an hour of playing time, aboard the computer the signal of the end of working hours is given and then imitation falling asleep follows. in my opinion it wouldn't be bad.

  53. Would it possible to improve the rain special effects?
As in, increase and improve the water spray kicked out by the tires of the trucks, water pools on the asphalt and even how those water sprays affect the visibility of the road?

Also, the rain, give a more 3Dish visualization, as if it is falling in different areas instead of just on a row close to the screen?

A good example of rain effect that I would like to see is present on Formula 1 - 2014

  54. Steam is a total failure !!! TOTAL.

When I was playing, suddenly Steam stopped working and I wasn't able to continue the game. Internet connection was fine but Steam stopped working.

It was a BIG mistake of me to use Steam. I prefer install ETS2 on my hard drive and playing with 1.13.3 version, instead of playing on Steam with 1.14.2 version.

It was a BIG mistake of me to activate my ETS2 on Steam. Steam is a BIG joke. No more Steam from now on. Is a "site/company" made by clowns, they filled my inbox with spam and I said OK, they made my Steam account full of ads and I said OK. But to suddenly stopped in the middle of the game, is not OK.

    Steam sucks.

I'm going to install on my computer the 1.13 version and I will wait for the patch to update to 1.14.2 version.

Steam is OVER for me. I thought to give a chance to Steam but the disappointment reached 100%

Steam is too little in front of SCS. SCS are professionals, they know what they doing, ETS2 is a VERY nice game. Steam is a BIG BIG BIG joke :)

    1. Steam is the one of the most reliable places for games/updates are you silly. If steam goes offline you can continue playing, it usually goes down on a Tuesday for maintenance for 30 mins. I suspect you are using an illegal copy for you to be crying so much

      Delete
    2. Your suspicious are WRONG.
I bought the game 40 Euros.

For people like you, every person who is complaining about Steam, he is a hacker, he is using a pirate copy, an illegal copy etc etc. We cannot say anything bad about Steam, because you accusing us.

      Delete
    3. @ Kenny Bertram.

IF our copy was illegal according of your suspicious, it wouldn't going to work on Steam on first place. Each account needs its unique key.

You said we are crying about Steam. None is crying here but you !

You crying that Steam is one of the most reliable places for games/updates. Well, guess what; there are only two of them, Steam and Origin. Origin is worst than Steam. So, comparing Steam with Origin of course Steam is reliable :)

But comparing Steam with ETS2 and SCS software, Steam is a BIG joke.

As I said yesterday, I prefer to use the 1.13 version ( an illegal version according to you), than using Steam to have the latest version 1.14.2 and have a bunch of problems.

SCS will release a patch for us to update our LEGAL copy to the latest one.

And in order to clarify for good who has the legal copy and who doesn't, SCS can track our IP's and then they can see which IP bought the game and which not.

So Kenny Bertram whatever your name is. Stop defending Steam with such passion and get a life. And next time before you accuse anyone that he has an illegal copy you have to think twice before you open your mouth and type a bunch of ridiculous theories.

    4. Man... when you bought the game its was the release version, if u want some updates and support the game play on steam and buy some DLC.s, paint jobs etc.. or stay with your hard copy at whatever version you can go,

  61. Well I've just joined Steam, and my product keys worked perfectly, and I've spent the afternoon enjoying version 1.14.2.

The lifting axles are fantastic, just lift the rear one as you're driving with the 25 tonne excavator in tow, and it feels like you're nose is coming off the road.

The new DAF is interesting, nice to drive, nice interior, even though there's no 'exclusive' yet? But the outside of the new DAF is ugly, plain and boring. Not the fault of SCS, they have after all made a computer generated model of the real thing, but there's no paint job I could create which makes it look any better. Nice truck as long as you stay in the cab!

I like having the speed limit shown on the truck's own screen now, although it's often hard to make out, even on a 42" TV as a monitor, but it means I can do away with the annoying pop up box unless I really need it.

    This is a list of a few of my pet hates about ETS 2, and which I wish SCS would address;

    (1) When we've played the game more than once, we don't need the box always popping up when we reach our delivery depot, PLEASE make it an option.

    (2) We also don't need the annoying bar in front of the screen telling us to follow the flag to find our load, this is kiddie games instructions!

    (3) Please make the yawning an option which can be switched off, and the tunnel vision...apart from being so irritating, it does in fact make me yawn in the same way as yawning in someone's company sets others off yawning too.

    (4) When are we going to see proper petrol/diesel tankers? I'm sure in the rest of Europe, as here in the UK and the US, these dangerous fuels are always transported in tankers which are lower, a little wider for safety than standard trailers, and the tanks themselves are always oval shaped, or the 'banana tankers', never the round tankers that supposedly contain these fuels in the game. It seems strange to put so much effort into creating such an excellent simulator, with so many other trailers so accurately reproduced, but not the fuel tankers.

    (5) Parking...why are all the parking jobs so easy? The worst are Kaarfor and SellPlan which can almost be done with your eyes closed. Posped isn't much better, and the other depots I usually reverse my load in from 90 degree angles, using the trucks nearside mirrors, never the pop up ones, just to try and make it a challenge. Give us some tight, close reverse parking please.

I'm sure I'll remember other gripes, but apart from these the simulator is brilliant. I'm looking forward to each improvement like never before.

    1. (3) Please make the yawning an option which can be switched off, and the tunnel vision.

If I'm struggling to find a place to pull over (I hate the fatigue simulation too when it yawns) I just turn it off for a few minutes until I find a lay-by then turn it back on and sleep

Glad you are enjoying steam you will get all the latest updates now and betas. I'm UK too (Scottish actually) So if what I typed sounded like gibberish sorry it was 2am when I wrote it

      Delete
    2. I disabled fatigue from the very start. My advice is that YOU simulate your fatigue as you wish, using your own imagination. First I used to drive like real truckers, 8-9 hours per day, and manually advancing time with the console (which also allows me to stop the truck in any place I find realistic enough, without needing to be a Parking).

Anyway that resulted too hardcore and with current gametime scale I was stoping too much. Now I just sleep at nights. I usually sleep from around 20.00 to 4.00, and then stop only at lunch time (13-14 hrs).

So I stop once during the day, which allows me to even check the outside of my truck with the freefly camera, and enjoy it, and then I just stop at a hotel, a toll, etc. at nights and sleep 8 hours. No yawning at all, and I don't need the game to tell me when I'm tired or I need to rest.

About the rest, I agree except the DAF, which I love (both int and ext), maybe you just need to find a color or skin that suits you. Also, the banana shape trailers you mention, I think those are for cement (dry) in real life, not fuel, but maybe we're talking about different things.

In any case, if you want more realistic, and nicer trailers, I would recommend installing some mods. But from your post I guess you just like the vanilla game.

      Regards.

    3. I might try just switching the fatigue off Katixa, or do as Kenny suggests above. The Go East add on is great because they provided so many new parking areas, (as well as so many single carriageway roads) but on the original maps, they are so few and far between that I often have to waste 2 hours potential driving because the next stop is just a bit out of reach for the time I have left...

Re the tankers, the standard petrol/diesel tankers have compartments inside (obviously for different fuels) and baffles to stop the fuel sloshing forward under breaking which can literally push the cab off the road. Many drivers have been killed carrying liquids in tankers without baffles when breaking suddenly. I don't know if you can post links here, but I'll try just to show what I mean http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/soldiers-coventry-petrol-stations-tanker-3026667 That's the standard fuel tankers in Europe, a little wider than normal trailers, and everything designed to keep the centre of gravity as low as possible to prevent them turning over in a crash. Even the cabs used to haul them are very low compared with most trucks.

The 'banana' tankers are used for fuel, but have no baffles inside, so the bottom of the tank, if you look at it from the side, is bowed up towards both the front and rear. This allows gravity to slow the liquid as it is forced forward under breaking.

SCS have had the correct tankers for dry powders like cement and plastic granules since the game was released, as with heavy metals etc, which was really my point about fuels. The type of tankers used for everything on the game are generally full of whisky where I live!

About the new DAF, I think it's just my opinion, I don't like the outside, it's not at all tough looking, more like a modern car, and I see them every day where I live. The new Volvo is the opposite for me, I love the look of the outside, but don't like the interior. I'll be interested to see the new Mercedes if SCS ever get the licence.

I don't think I know enough about computers to try the mods...I've heard some of them mess up other areas of the game, and I worry what else I might be downloading. I downloaded something a couple of years ago, and ended up with something called 'snap.do' taking over all my browsers, tried everything to remove it, and in the end had to do a full destructive recovery of my hard drive to get rid of it. I did read online that it is a type of spyware and the only way to get rid is as I did.

Anyway, thanks for the reply and enjoy the new DAF ;)

A good site for mods is http://ets2.lt/ a good map mod I'd recommend is the Promods one (http://www.promods.net/) wait a week or 2 for it to be updated to 1.4.2 it adds a whole lot more driving and they are the guys working with SCS on the Scandinavian DLC from what I've read

    5. I'm just looking at that now Kenny. I've been on http://ets2mods.com trying to get some of these trailers with proper brands etc. I downloaded one http://sharemods.com/ddqwcby04o19/Trailer_Pack_Jumbo_V1.zip.html but can't seem to figure out how to add it to the game. I said I'm pretty useless with computers!

    6. @AceTrucker: One problem with mods in this game is that if you start adding more and more, you end up having lots of stuff you maybe don't use, like or even give problems and don't know how to fix when the game is updated and mods don't work or even worse, game starts to crash.

So in your case I would be VERY selective. For quality trailers, TzExpress does some good work. Also you can find some good ones on ets2.lt sometimes.

Anyway SCS improved the code so if a mod is incompatible or outdate, usually it simply doesn't show up in game, but unfortunatelly some may crash. I have mods installed since earlier versions that I still use and give me no problems. Some others I have to disable them (editing the profile ingame).

So you could just try to add one or two, see what happens, and if you find no crashes, maybe add a couple more. If it goes wrong, just disable them. Mods that can cause more problems are ones about maps, cab tuning... but trailers can just be disabled and game won't load them or keep any trash on the profile.

Installing mods it's easy just put the SCS file on the "mod" folder and enable them ingame... sometimes it's a ZIP. Never run any exe or similar... just uncompress. Download the mod somewhere, open it with WinRar or 7zip, see what's inside, check readmes or whatever, and place the mod file in the mod folder. Anyway I'm sure there are guides around that show it. The mod it's just a file with a pack of folders and files inside, that ETS2 reads.

In any case, I don't want to scare you, but mods can ruin the profile if done uncorrectly or if you don't manage to fix it when problems come (meaning only exit is to start a new one...), so if you really are useless with computers (as you way) maybe the safest thing is to stay clean with vanilla. No offense of course.

    7. None taken Katixa, but I'm learning bit by bit thank you :)

One of the better things about the internet is exactly this...there's always like minded people willing to help those with less knowledge.

I've just got the trailer one to work and have just loaded a 28 tonne DHL Scotland to Poland, and no problems so far. I'm not really too fussed about cab mods but wanted more realistic trailers, and I'm just about to try and install a 'let it snow' mod as that's another thing which has always slightly disappointed me about ETS2, the constant single season. I remember on the original ETS I could open the files in Notepad and do stuff like switch the speed traps off and increase the rain until it was huge flakes of snow, but of course it only hit your windscreen and didn't cover the ground. ETS2 however is all in some other language when you open it so can't change anything.

I'll go try and install this winter mod now, many thanks!

    8. @Ace Trucker:
Good to hear. In that case, I send you some links for some mods I installed recently from ets2.lt. Also one advice, I would focus on standalone trailers only, meaning they are completely independent models that don't replace an existing trailer.

      http://ets2.lt/en/trailers-pack-v-1-0/
      http://ets2.lt/en/lanoe-chereau-trailer-standalone/
      http://ets2.lt/en/trailer-transport-glass-pack-ita-standalone/
      http://ets2.lt/en/chereau-trailers-pack-v-4-0/

All these are standalones and in my opinion nice trailers that is good to see around on the highway, and also to haul them.

      Delete
    9. Thanks Katixa, they are excellent trailers, though why I picked up 28 tonnes of soft drinks from a chemical plant, and delivered them to a building site is anyone's guess lol. Must be thousands of thirsty builders out of site!

@Kenny, Just joined that ProMods site so I'll see how that goes and report back thanks.

I've used Malwarebytes for years, and scan my system every day, especially before logging into my bank account. It's always clean unless I download something which is 'free'.

I had trouble opening some of these mods as my desktop doesn't have software to extract them all. Some extract, others won't, so I went looking for the recommended software. Tried to download a couple from sites which were free, and then scanned with Malwarebytes...1 malicious item, and 589 non malicious items which weren't there when I scanned it this morning. Chrome was taken over by something which I couldn't remove, so had to uninstall it and download it again. Firefox has been taken over by something called 'Astromenda.com' so I'm about to uninstall it and reinstall, but I'll lose all saved passwords! I need to start keeping written copies!

Now that's the thing I hate about the internet

I do not now and never will want Steam ever on my computer again . It adds way more than the total amount of space for the actual game just for the Steam client and its extra rubbish . I only ever had it for one game and when i saw how bloated the Steam folder became I removed it and the game that needed it for activation from my computer

    2. Vinicuis it totally shows your lack og knowledge when you say non Steam users have to stay with version 1.0 . We get the updates without Steam we just dont get a huge folder of the unneccesary Steam client wasting space on our computers . it just means we have to wait a bit longer for the updates as ScS put them on Steam first to save having to use server bandwidth of their own to host the updates for everyone

I tried it and the game was stop working " Not Responding" . My pc is powerful enough.

When I had ETS2 installed on my hard drive it was working just fine. When I uninstall it and used Steam, there were many problems. I removed Steam and install ETS2 again on my hard drive and everything is ok now.

Conclusion : Steam is NOT for everyone. Some people like it, but many of us we are against Steam.

Well, you can be dissatisfied with it, you can dislike it, and choose not to use it, but you can't be "against" it, or you would wish to deprive all those who enjoy it of their pleasure! You post as though you'd prefer it to be banned!

Your comment has the tone of a sinister political movement of some kind...it's a game for goodness sake, like it or don't like it, but don't force your opinion on everyone else, and grow up!

I don't like milk, but I'm not advocating a ban on it, and wishing to deprive the vast majority who enjoy it in their cereal or coffee...lighten up or you'll end up with a stroke or heart attack, then Steam will seem trivial at best ;)

  69. HOW DO I GET THE 1.14 UPDATE HELP

    ReplyDelete
  70. Well, having been enjoying the new update immensely, unfortunately, for the first time since about the very first update a couple of years ago, I'm now getting the AI cars coming out of nowhere, switching lanes and crashing into the rear corner of my trailer, and I'm getting the penalty!

I used to save the game as I passed each service station, just so if something like that happened, or my computer crashed, I wouldn't have to go back to my last 'Depot Exit' save, but recently I'd been doing the entire runs without a save unless it was a very long one where I'd save it where I rested up. Now this old glitch seems to be back, I'll have to start saving it regularly again.

The AI traffic was vastly improved a while back, but still hasn't a clue how to drive at roundabouts, and there are several places where the AI traffic just sits there giving way to every other vehicle when they have the right of way, and you're stuck behind them all.

Then there are the cars which flash their lights to allow you out, when there's no room to turn because they're too close to you, and the ones which regularly slip up the inside of you on the tight slip road junctions where you need to stay wide to make the turn. They don't seem to register your indicator, and just drive on.

It would be good if SCS addressed these issues with the AI traffic.

    3. What about your system? CPU, RAM etc?

I'm thinking of building a new gaming pc, with the best I can get. AMD (which is what mine came with) seem to be a cheap option compared with intel for CPUs from what I've read online.

Looking at the prices of components, I could put together a pc with a top gaming intel CPU, 16 GB RAM, and a high end Ge Force graphics card for around half the cost of buying a similar spec gaming pc

    4. I'm running an old Phenom 2 1055T with a slight overclock and a 580GTX and the game runs ok for me with everything on max. Look into what CPU's your motherboard can run I have the option of a drop in replacement FX8350 CPU which will only cost me around £120. If you download CPU-Z it will tell you all of your PC components and I can check available upgrades you could get without having to get a whole new system

    5. I've downloaded that software (shocking what I don't know about computers!) and I don't know exactly what info you need, so I'll add everything I think is relevant and if there's anything else you need to know you can let me know.

      I did Frap it and was going to put it on my You Tube page, but I don't think you'd be able to read it with the drop in quality...my ETS 2 videos are uploaded in great quality, and by the time they're published they look pretty poor, anyway, here's what I can see about my system;

      CPU - AMD Phenom II X2 545

      Motherboard - FOXCONN Model A7VMX-K

      Memory - DDR2 / Channel -Dual / 4 GBytes / DC Mode - Unganged

Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti (added myself a couple of years ago, because despite the PC being sold as a 'Gaming PC' it had a really out of date and small ASUS Graphics card)

      Clocks;

      Core 50 MHz
      Shader 101 MHz
      Memory 135 MHz

      Memory;

      Size 1024 MBytes

I'm uploading it anyway as my connection isn't doing anything else, but it'll be a couple of hours before it's published at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEJmwNz6hdxhN1g860Tlarg

I've read people discussing "overclocking" and I haven't a clue what they're referring to.

Strange thing is that my system seems to change quite a bit. I've just added the 'Let It Snow' mod, working perfectly (pity it's only visual and there's no slipping effect, but great to have a winter scene, all credit to the two guys who built it).

I was using it with the game graphics set at 150%, thought I'd try it up at 400% as I moved most of the stuff on my hard drive to a portable one last night (don't know if that even affects the speed?), anyway, it was bad, just jerking constantly, so I went down to 300% and it was okay, which it can't usually handle any better than 400%.

Mostly I switch between 100%, 125%, and 150%. Every now and then the graphics play up, and if I just switch it, even up the way from 125 to 150 it fixes things, until the next time!

Anyway, thanks again, and I'll let you see what you make of that info :)

    6. Looks like the best CPU that board supports is an AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition. It's still a decent chip but you'd probably want something a bit more future proof. Intel are great chips but pretty pricy compared to AMD. Good motherboards are ASUS and Gigabyte boards.

An i5 3570k/£177.71 or an AMD 8320/£109.77 8350/£128.87 pared with a AMD Radeon R9 270 / about £130 is a pretty nice setup. Prices are from Ebuyer.com you can probably find them cheaper and set aside about 80 or so for a good motherboard

Not that I have that sort of money to blow, but you obviously know your stuff, and I'm wondering how a system like this would work with ETS 2...and all of those components from 'aria pc technology and other online sellers would seem to cut the price by more than half.

They have one new copy of Windows 7 for £35.00. I have Windows 8 on my laptop and I've never hated an OS as much, it's the most awful thing to use. My guess is that it's because they seem to have designed it with smart phones and tablets in mind, but as I've said before I'm far from an expert.

I don't know what 8.1 is like, but I think I'd prefer to stick to 7 which I've never had any issues with, but Microsoft just stopped selling it a couple of weeks ago I think, so this one on amazon may be the last one available!

The box for that system does look extremely cool though, but doesn't seem to be available as so many others are.

It's running as smooth as silk on 400%, and seems brilliant, but I've just hit upon another fault.

I don't know if this is because of mods, but having disabled them all, it's made no difference.

I started an entirely new game, after all, it was easy making money with 81 drivers and 16 million Euro in the bank.

I bought my first truck, the basic new DAF, and found it doesn't come with front or side mirrors, so I stopped in to buy them.

They should cost 1,500 for the front, and just over 500 for the side, but the game is charging me 6,372, and 5,442 respectively!

When I got the new update on my old PC, I wouldn't have paid any attention at being so massively overcharged, because I had so much in the bank, so I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen?

This mod is great fun, but realistically the trailer would have steering rear axles, and an escort vehicle.

I took one from Poland to Scotland, taking in some of the narrow roads, and the winding motorway slip roads, and didn't hit anything, but it's about as tight as you could get away with.

It's challenging, but steering rear axles would help greatly!
