Euro Truck Simulator 2 goes 64-bit: 1.16 update now live


After a short open beta, the latest update for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is now ready for public release. As per usual Steam users will receive the update automatically, while the patch for retail version of the game will be available within a few days.

We would like to thank all of our testers and contributors again - your constant help and support allows us to quickly pinpoint any outstanding issues and bring updates to all players on a such short turnaround!

We've talked extensively about the 64-bit change we're making available to the players in our previous blog post, so please check out the post linked above for more information. Full change-list for this update is available in this Steam discussion.

    In your screenshot the street lights (left background) seem to have a new flare - are there any changes in the official version? Or just truck dealer and 64bit?

    I run a 64 bit machine and have tried this through Steam with zero mods. The problems I am having is this, you go near a dealer to unlock it on standard map game crashes. If you happen to get a dealer open and buy a truck and go to drive that truck game crashes. I know that this is beta and it will have some bugs and wish I could get away from Steam version but being disabled American trucker am saving up for American Truck Simulator when you release it. I am also redownloading ETS2 without the beta so have a more stable game to play without the frustrations. Do love the game and all the work you are doing. Good luck getting bugs worked out.

      I played beta and the final 64x bit update and I had never had the issus you mentioned. I bought from every dealer and game didn't crash. I also drove near truck dealer and never crashed. YOUR game or mods give you the crash, not the update.

      Yes I have a 64 bit machine I built it myself so I know what is in it. I also had absolutely no other mods in my mod folder. I do testing for a modding group in Farming Simulator 2013 and 2015. So I know what I am doing. No mods Standard map with update. Shut steam off was able to play 1.16 with no problems so the problem is and has always been Steam.

      I also went back to standard game and able to run truck sim map and the american trucks on 1.15 with no problem so for me the problem is with the steam version of the update which boils down to the update given out through Steam.

      what windows are you using? got newest updates/service packs?
      makes difference i could not even start the game in 64 bit untill i installed latest service pack then everything just worked correctly

      Who knows... other than in the past, there have been maintenance/preparation updates that appears just in advance of the big update which deployed shortly afterwards......... 1.16 is a maintenance/preparation update ... so read into that for yourselves.... but can't be too far out.

      Yes. Game crashes near a large truck dealers. Two solutions: Don't go nearby a large truck dealer, or wait for the next version of promods.

      I tested from game on STEAM (icon in game bin/win_x64) and I get info in GAME.LOG :

      - 00:00:00.000 : [sys] running on x86 / Windows 7 x64 (version 6.1)

      so...it still running on x86 .... on other hand in STEAM I get some combination of x86 _ x64 .....

      I think we're still long way from good game option ...but keep up guys .... we need good version, where will Virtual memory work perfect too !!

    If somebody want play my map MOD ...you have version on my blog for that update 1.16.x ;) ...so try it ...but if you're first time on my map, start with new Profile for my map.

    i am big fan of your game (Euro truck simulator 2). I just have a request that kindly update the trucks and add new truck models. along with this add dangerous driving roads to euro truck simulator 2 like we have in​ scania. If while driving on dangerous driving road truck goes off the road (fell from mountain) then the driver will have to pay penalty & have have to start that job again.

    It seems to me that people that a 32-bit system can't update the game so that mean's that they will have to wait for the next update 1.17. I have a window 7 i3 32-bit OS and it's slow.

    Hello Friends, Greetings from Colombia.

    I am a total fan of ETS2 and seeing these images of ATS, became fascinated with the scenery and the realism of the trucks. The only thing I definitely generates the map size, will only California ??? Hopefully in the release is large enough or proposed future an expansion.

    So this update doesnt contain the new weather and sky update, is it possible for your you to add handanimations and foot ofcourse, and what i dislike about your current engine is that when you drive far enough the the objects are floating in the sky when i look in the mirrors, it has to do with the graphics engine because the same problem is also on American Truck Simulator.

    SCS, I have one request for ETS2 for all operating systems. Can you create an option in which the game decides when it is going to rain, thunderstorm, fog, etc? I don't think it's very realistic to have a slider that the user can use to control the weather, however you should leave it as an option for people that want to use this feature.

    After I read the first announcement, I got the impression it would not work at all on a 32 bit OS like mine. Today I read, it would enhance management on a 32 bit OS a little, so after some hesitation, I tried. I must add, I run TSM and RussMap, various traffic packs though ETS2 has to cope with 2 GB RAM maximum, allocated to ETS2 exclusively (total is 4GB). The beauty of this is that a minor change makes a big difference on my end.

    Result: Shorter loading times, fewer CTD's, slightly improved framerates in problematic areas.

    The updates is doing well indeed not bad but were still missing some tractor units such as Mercedes Benz Actros to which will be a great innovation to the game. We also need some
    Road bumps on the road so as to have that reality while simulating.

    The 64 bit version was a good move. If I launch my game now with DirectX 64Bit & v-synch off, my FPS has shot up & my game now runs as smooth as a BMW paint job. Thanks SCS.

    i cant run the game in 64 bit so soon i try to start it up it just crashes i get this from steam (preparing to start the game) then it just crashes and i get up windows troubleshooter
    the game starts in 32 bit(x86)

    i got win7 64 bit
    inte cire I7 4770K 4 cores
    kingston ram 16 GB
    saphire vide card

    i built it by my own so i know whats in it and that windows is 64 bit

    anyone? please someone who got a solution on how to get it working in 64 bit
    all mods removed does not help at all
