Thanks for your wishes!

In the first blog post of this year we want to thank you all for your new year's wishes. It is really encouraging to see that so many people appreciate our work, that our effort was not just a waste of time. Conversely it pulls us to work even harder in this year. We need you to stay with us, and help us through your positive as well as negative feedback to develop the best truck games for you.

And new games are for sure coming in 2011! Release of 18 Wheels of Steel Extreme Trucker 2 is really close now. Of course we are still working on Euro Truck Simulator 2, and there is even a third small and secret project under development now. More on this surprise soon.

Thank you for everything again, we are looking forward to our dialogue with you in 2011 through our blog and facebook pages!

Oh, we did some work on the Scania, is it any better now?

  8. "Oh, we did some work on the Scania, is it any better now?" Excuse me! No progress at all! I don't see any progress after last screenshot of Scania in last year.

  9. nice would it be possible to have 6x2 versions aswell?

  10. What I see repaired is roof and spoliers of cab. But SCS please look at side skirts (side fenders) they also needs to be repaired! Just get some pics from SCANIA image bank and you will see what's wrong.

And btw nice new front wheels ;)

  11. SCS, you are surprising me everytime I open this blog, even if you did not update the blog, since I visit it every day about ~10 times a day, it's still nothing short of AWESOME!
Btw, that 3rd project you're working on, please say it's a bus sim. It would be great, as I still play Bus Driver, and I'd REALLY like to see another bus sim from you guys! SCS RULEZ!

  12. Yes, the Scania looks much better now. But add some curtains in inside the cab, it's too empty inside the cab.

  13. Very very nice scssoftware
    New trailer model schmitz,krone,tirsan..etc...????

    ReplyDelete
  14. There's a little difference, roof now looks not so rounded. Of course it could be even better. And yes, anonymous colleague is right about side skirts. But on the other hand, who really needs exact copy, centimeter by centimeter? For me this model is good enough. I think SCS could be more focused on gameplay than on exact models now - older 18WoS were more enjoyable games than ETS, GTS or ET. But I hope all funny features will be back in ETS2. ;-)

Wishing the best in your projects, SCS!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Please SCS, tell us that your "secret" project is a bus game/sim... You've been neglecting bus fans for long enough and the demand for this genre is always increasing (just look at your competitors' upcoming projects).
As Se7en said, Bus Driver is still a good game to play and, correct me if I'm wrong, but it was a commercial success... There's a place for such a game. Bus Driver was a great concept that pleased younger and older players as well, the ONLY thing that it was missing was the dashview. The environment was diversified and really good lookin'... You can rest assured that Se7en and I, as 3dartpol forum moderators, would promote it big time for you.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I as well, am a 3dartpol moderator, and I can tell you that the whole community want a bus game !

    I Really hope this ' project ' is BD2.

And If it is not, remember it for the future, as this would be a great game for you !

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hmm... although new bus game would be great and I would appreciate it too, it doesn't sound like "small project". ;-) Maybe some addon for GTS/UKTS or something like TruckSaver...?

  18. Is there confirmed date of release for Extreme Trucker 2 yet?

And yes please say your thrd project is Bus Driver 2 :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Bus "Simulator" (it is a simulator!) would be a wonderful project. With the economy such as the GTS =)
Happy New Year and look forward to news about a new project

  21. A true Bus Simulator would be fantastic!

  22. What I want is to put more stuff in the ETS 2 or a new game...

    - We modders could put more vehicles in the game, as the Haulin' system;
    - Type of load from Extreme Trucker: a static model on a specific truck;
    - Inside (cam1), drops of rain on ...the windshield more real (Image: http://bit.ly/g3aHdm ), running on the side windows;
    - 3 types of headlights in the truck: side light, low beam and high beam;
    - More animation outside of the truck, open the doors as the Bus Driver system;

2 things difficult for you to do:

    - Releasing an animation editor (you released an editor for the fans of Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project - http://scssoft.com/dnmp_tutor/ )
    - An online platform for we play in network, or we set up a room for us to play online with several friends.

    Thank you!

  23. I agree with yzy 101%! I wouldn't promote it just on 3dartpol, but on dozen forums I know...! Please SCS, don't disappoint us this time!

    Truck looks good. Stop waining...

Here is a R500 and it looks almost the same as R440

  30. That third project,Is it maybe Bus Driver 2?
There aren`t many Bus Simulator games, and on the market there is no good bus game.So I think that this game would be success.I mean, you have a map from ETS 2,you have licences for trucks,so you could make buses from that manufactures (Mercedes,Scania,Volvo,...)
Anyway,SCS continue with good work, and continue making the best truck(and bus :D) simulators!!

    PS:Sorry for bad English

    ReplyDelete
  31. I suggest to add a camera on the passenger side

    sorry for bad english :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. really nice , but how about make another bumper too?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Beautiful scania. One suggestion: the truck you own would determine the loads you haul. You buy a truck that you can spec(after you reach a certain driver rating/level) as heavy haul and that will allow you to be able to do heavy haul loads. And by saying "you can spec the truck" I mean go to dealer start with a scania r730 or which ever you prefer and add an lift axle, or a drive, then as you make more money add you could get a twin steer and up the power. that is what would take this sim to another level, but the physics would need to be accurately adjusted for the vehicles change in size.

  34. I carry horses with shit at ass, when I pass near people with the truck it smells like shit 2 years :D

  43. We'll have to calm speculation regarding Bus Driver 2 - no such game is in production, not even in pre-production, at SCS Software.

The original Bus Driver hasn't really sold so many copies to make it a no-brainer to invest into a sequel. They game may be played and perhaps even loved by many fans, but the key metrics is the number of paying customers we can attract - we need to feel confident that we won't ruin SCS by investing into a game that won't make the money back. Right now we believe this is more likely with truck games than bus games.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Congratulations on the work SCS Software. Each day more surprises are shown. I can say this, if the SCS follow every request of FAO for improvements and modifications, the game would be released in 15 years ... Do a good job with flexibility and possibility for mods. Who likes change and trucks perfect, will use them as mods. I believe that SCS has a lot to improve and grow, the more it depends on the purchase of the games by fans. Each copy purchased more help SCS.

Thanks for the information, congratulations on the work at Scania, and do not forget the possibility of adding doubles and triples trailers.

    Anxiously await the launch games.

  50. Pay more attention to the gameplay, rather than models of trucks. Make the best trailers normal model.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yeah, as I wrote yesterday. I think truck models that we saw in recent months are brilliant. Sure there are differences from original trucks, but nonsignificant: ETS2 is a game, not a presentation. There's no need to rework them again and again. Instead of it, why not create other cars, buses or motorbikes for variety of AI? Or other things which improve feeling and gameplay. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  66. Hey! SCS, please, read this comment, and if possible reply to it, I think it would be fair for what I am about to say...

Now, I know Bus Driver hadn't sold so much! But you know why? I will tell you 3 good reasons which you still have chance to fix and release a patch.
1st reason: The game hasn't got a functioning dashboard, only back view and a bumper camera!
2nd reason: This is the one big minus for the game and that is the camera is not rotatable full 360 degrees! I mean c'mon, you can implement that, it's not that hard, use the code from Haulin'!
3rd reason: Reward system! Sheesh! We know where to use blinkers, not to open doors in the middle of the highway.. That's another big minus that turned away potential buyers!

I think most people agree with me on these reasons, but there are hundreds of reasons more...

And if you fix these 3 things, it would attract buyers, and there are many many people who likes buses and your games in-general who are willing to support you and actually buy Bus Driver II ! You made Extreme Trucker, I think people did buy it as much as they did Bus Driver, and yet, you made a sequel to it under the name of Extreme Trucker 2! So why not for bus driver? It WON'T RUIN SCS, Bus Driver 2 doesn't have to be an investment like Euro Truck Simulator 2! Just 10 proper buses, and a modable game so people could create their own routes, vehicles, and that would attract people and buy Bus Driver 2! Just to make it open to mods guarantees you 1000+ buyers!

    -THINK ABOUT IT! ;]

  69. SCS, as I said on the forum I'm moderating for (3dartpol), and I know that you have respect for that site..... do you really think that your closest competitor (don't worry, I won't mention its name) would be developing a brand-new MUCH COMPREHENSIVE Bus sim if their first Bus sim hadn't been a success??!! There's a place for such a game, but it HAS to be a "simulator", not an "arcade" game!
Over the years, you've acquired expertise in Truck sims and I strongly believe that Bus sims attract the same people... Be a leader in the genre... it's still so under-explored... We'll support you all the way!
As a personal note, Pavel, I know that you and I have had our differences in the past but I have to admit that I'm one of the most dedicated fans of yours!!! As a collector, I bought (PAID FOR) about 17 copies of your games overall, including 7 copies of Bus Driver.... Please give it a try!! Don't forget that Excalibur (UK) would be willing to publish such a game!!! Get back to us, bus fans... you WILL NOT regret it!!! And PLEASE, reply to Se7en and me, we're on your side!! Thanks and Regards.

  70. +1 !

SCS ... A bus game WOULD work, and WOULD sell.

I own most of your games, both in Disc and Digital download from your websites.

And yzy is right, the same people interested in truck sims would be interested in bus sims !

I'm mad about trucks, trains, planes, buses, and have simulators for all of them !

You could easily produce a bus simulator, and should !

And so if it has got to the stage where you are ignoring your fans, that have supported you for years, (which you do, not one single email I have sent to SCS has been replied too)

I beg you ... LISTEN TO US. We know what we are talking about.

On the 3dartpol forum alone, there must be over 1000 people that would buy the game. If the game sold for £30, that's instantly £30,000.

  72. We're getting 20-30 e-mails every day with wishes for future games, feature suggestions, gripes about problems, all kinds of input and feedback. It is absolutely beyond our man power to respond to this constant stream of messages (though we do read them all - we do pay attention). This blog was born out of the need to have a platform to be able to talk back to the community, as we don't have the bandwidth to respond back to to individual fans. We can only hope that you are a bit happier with us; you can hear more from us this way than during the past years.

Regarding a new bus sim game and how easy it is to build it or not - SCS is really a small company, and we just cannot double our size overnight even if we wanted to. We cannot just hire a bunch of guys off the street and expect them to be done with a new good quality game 12 months later. It takes experience, and it takes experienced leads spending their time teaching any new guys the tricks of the trade, the specifics of our engine and content creation pipeline. This is especially true for programming tasks and jobs, even though it applies to map design and 3D/2D art too. A new project/team always means disruption to other projects in the pipeline. We know it all too well, as we often were forced to work on multiple projects in parallel to keep the company afloat.

As for the idea that we can do a new bus game cheaply ("just throw in 10 good bus models") - well with the quality bar expectations ever raising, this is far from cheap. Models of our Euro 2 trucks take over 2 months to create - perhaps 40% time is spent on exterior, but majority of time goes into interior. So we are talking spending some 20 man-months just on a few buses. Add the investment into world creation and programming of the game, certainly finally such a game would finally deserve pedestrians a and passengers walking around the game world, and easily you are talking 100+, perhaps even 150+ man-months. This is the cost that we need to feel confident we can earn back. Well in fact as we are very conservative about borrowing money from somebody else and then having them dictate their terms to us, actually we first need to be confident that we can self-finance such a project through its development, which is a whole different story. And again as I said above, the game is either built by the current team members, interrupting our work on truck sim games, or is built by new people who are supervised by current team members, still delaying Euro Truck 2 work.

Don't get me wrong, we would LOVE to be able to create a new bus game. We are proud of the original Bus Driver, it was small and far from perfect, but it was actually our very first "big" independently developed driving game, after years working only as low-paid contractors on somebody else's intellectual property. So you see where our preferences were. Hopefully one day we'll be in position to greenlight such a project, but not in foreseeable future, certainly not before Euro Truck Simulator 2 is finished.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Well, SCS, I get you loud and clear! Thanks for the extensive explanation! I really hope that one day you greenlight Bus Driver 2!
Cheers SCS! But, please keep us updated on ETS2 more from now-on! You've posted several updates about ET2 in a row!

  86. Hello... i loved everythin' i've seen about ETS 2. But, please... i beg you... compatibility with W7 - 32/64 bits. simple trucks, tractors 4x2, 6x2, 6x4 and 8x4. And also trailers with 1, 2, 3 and 4 axles. Separated axles (2+1, 1+1+1). And please... i beg you again... double-trailers... more roads, missions, cities and countries. More realism to the game. More hills and downhills, rivers, seas, mountains... bigger cities, at least capitals... i'd like to see viaducts and bridges in the game... i'd like to ask also... the possibility of personalizing the game... make it ours... as users and custumers... and when the new game is released... think of producing official tutorials to be released together.

  91. SCS

I am looking forward to buying this game. All I can tell you is don't rush through it and I know you guy's will do a great job as always.

My question is I read somewhere that you guys are re-doing all the physics inside the game. Is that true?

  96. how looks the new map of ets2? are there new cities and roads in it? when do you show us a view into the new map? it will be very very intresting for all fans of eurotrucksimulator2, of course...

    ReplyDelete
  97. for example, could we know something about the trailers and cargos? and more about tuning?

    ReplyDelete
  98. ...and what about dynamic shading?
    Is it will be?
When will be feature list from ETS2?

    ReplyDelete
  99. scs, do you show more about eurotrucksimulator2 in the future? we are still waiting for something new about it.

  100. I'm also curious about the map and the size of it.
In my opinion, are the map and the towns the essentials in the game. Along with the driving-feel in the sim.
The rest is secondary. But still offcourse a big part of the whole game experience.
I really hope that ETS2 will include Scandinavia-Finland and parts of Russia - And likewise the Balkan states etc...
More road-options and bigger citys. Means more hours and joy infront of the game.

Many thanks for this blog and all the updates of the upcoming game.

  101. i think thats true. its fantastic for the player to drive for example from poland to spain, the vegetation change, the trees are different, the highway is different, the petrol-stations are different.you see that you are on another place in europe, i´m so intresting in the new map of ets2,too.

  102. what about screens?

  103. Good luck with your further projects! Your simulators are just AWESOME!!!

  104. Obviously I understand you guys are working to a budget so cant add everything to the game that either yourselves or the community would like but one small thing that irked me in ETS was the traffic AI. The way cars and trucks would just come to a complete stand still in the middle of the motorway as your doing 90 kph behind them.

Would also like to see more A roads if possible as I found the roads in Poland and the Lyon to Bordeaux road the most fun to drive on !

Awesome game though. cant wait for ETS 2.

Does anyone know if SCS are using a tweaked engine for ETS2 or is it brand new ?

  105. the thing I would most like to see the most in ETS2 would be time sensitive cargo runs with deadlines and with bonuses for early delivery etc etc

Tunnels would be great to see aswell !

  106. awesome graphics!

  107. May think of windows that open, it would be great. please think very much. and work as much on graphics and I want more pictures of Iveco Stralis.

  108. I cant wait until the game gets released. Im so excited :)

  109. Is it possible for you to fix the weather in ETS 2? In ETS 1 it never rains unless you fix the game in documents. Can you add better rain timing and can you add snow and snow on the ground? Thanks!

  110. Hello I would like to ask when they would release the new euro truck simulator 2 .. and Greece; thank you very much

  111. I would like to see a actual damage model, like dents and scratches and cracked windshields etc. All the other trucking games don't have that. It seems kind unrealistic that all you see is a red bar that goes up and up while you're truck remains clean shiny like it was just off the show room floor. And your truck should at least get a bit dirty after driving it 1000's of kms. other than that the game looks stunning. I owned every trucking sim that you guys came out with, and I have to say this will not be disappointing.
