Success at eleventh hour

Yesterday afternoon we have successfully concluded our talks with Renault Trucks, yet another major truck manufacturer, bringing the total of licensed truck brands in ETS2 up to three. Yeah, still long way to go, but with Euro Truck Simulator 2 on the market soon, chances are the other big names will finally take notice, too.

We are happy to give you a new wallpaper to celebrate the occasion!

You can download the wallpaper in several resolutions here.

  4. I'm really impressed but SCS don't spent that much time on the manufacturs.
People out there will probably just mod it.

But something i've been wondering about, why are you guys not saying to the manufacturs that they can get theirs logo on the CD-Boxed version?

That would be a great deal, and then people out there will buy it because the brand is on the box?

  6. Congrats SCS.

Tiago Barroso has sent a message to Volvo Trucks on Facebook, and they've responded that they are still in discussion with you - http://www.facebook.com/VolvoTrucks/posts/483321858365050?notif_t=feed_comment.

Not sure what all the contention is about.

    2. I know, everyone that has a facebook go to Volvo Trucks and send them a message that they should put Volvo trucks on ETS2 so they could see how many people want to have their trucks in the game.

    3. What is going on here?
SCS said a few blog posts back that Volvo did not license the trucks for ETS2, but on the FB comments, Volvo says that they are still negotiating about licenses...

I am confused, what is going on? I wish SCS luck if the licensing talks are still in progress...

Please fix the cabs SCS, those things look pretty dumb.

And yeah ofcourse this is still the beta Rob, but with just one month to SCS's estimated release these things could be forgotten or something which would be disapointing. ( not that I care, I already pre-ordered :P )

  12. Congratulations! We can hardly imagine the amount of effort put into negotiations, but we appreciate it.

And if there are any people from Renault, Scania or MAN, big thanks for your support of SCS Software. Not every truck game player is your customer, that's for sure, but all of us are grateful, devoted fans. Maybe some younger player will be a professional driver in future and choose right your truck; it would be awesome. Shortly, we wish you that brand placement in ETS2 and other games will work good for you too. Many thanks again.

  16. Good evening SCS!
I hope you will read this comment and take into account my suggestion. As everybody saw, Mercedes Benz, Renault, DAF, Man, Scania, doesn't have a GPS or it has but can't be seen easily while driving. You have to move camera to see the gps which is not easy while driving. For this problem I came with an ideea which stands in a gps that's attached to windshield.

I have taken some time to make one in photoshop so you can understand what am I talking about.
    Here it is the link:
    http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/642/mercwithgps.jpg

Maybe you could add this before release or in a patch, but I think this is essential.

    Thanks for your time!

  29. What the fuck kind of simulator calls himself Euro Truck simulator, but it doesn't have SPAIN or PORTUGAL? There is a massive fan base on those countries, that WILL NOT BUY the game. It is just not correct!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. They're making map DLCs for that.

      Delete
    2. You're so annoying...why don't you accept the game as it is and wait for future patch or DLC? I'm italian but if SCS put Spain and not Italy I buy the game anyway. And you now what? Cause I want to DRIVE TRUCKS! And if it happen in my country good, if not, amen, I accept it! I think that Greece is one of the most beautiful countries for a truck simulation cause there're a lot of dangerous and small mountain road (in the real life Greece is a nightmare for truckers :D ) but SCS didn't put in the game. I don't have to buy it? No, I'll buy it and maybe hope in a future patch or DLC like Spain and Pourtugal. And if you know there're so many fans in your countries, try to force SCS with a mail request from all the fans and not with crying in the blog...I'm tired of people that asking for this, asking for thata. I don't care about you, try to do this privatly please!

    3. You really think the presence of Peninsula would have affect on ETS2 sales in Spain and Portugal? Yep, much more people would play it, that's true, but the sales would be not better. Maybe a little, very little better. Same thing with Balkan countries. They must concentrate on markets where buying a game is natural thing. West/Central Europe in initial release, then quickly Scandinavia in first DLC and then there will be maybe enough money for making a DLCs for non-payers.

      Delete
    4. !00 % agree with Jos Wayne, I'm also spanish and of course I hope that SCS release some DLC with many countries, including spain, BUT i will buy when it comes out. It's the best game for driving trucks, the map is a huge improvement respct ETS1, so I will enjoy that with or without spain. SCS is a small company, so they need money for doing map expansions.

Thanks for your work, SCS, it will be an epic game.

    5. Let's keep politics out of truck simulation pls. I think you should ask SCS to develop Politics Simulator instead. Let us Trucks Simmers enjoy ETS fanchise.

    6. I'm spanish and I don't give a damn if there's no Spain in the game or they put two Spains there to make me happy. I'll buy it anyway, and I can't imagine anybody not buying this game just because their home country is not represented.

    2. Nice movie !!

I have notice that there are still translation mistakes on road signs.

      Summary of mistakes:

      • At A7/A15 intersection in Belgium : roads signs are in FRENCH !!!
So you should give the direction of Liège (no Luik) for the east and Bruxelles (no Brussel) for the north.

•In Brussel ring (Brussel exit + Lille/Calais exit) roads signs are in DUTCH !!!
So you should give the direction of Rijsel (Dutch translation of Lille) with the French translation between brackets.

•In Rotterdam roads signs are in DUTCH !!!
So you should give the direction of Luik (no Liège).

•At A6/A36 intersection + A41/A43 intersection in France roads signs are in FRENCH !!!
So you should give the direction of Turin (no Torino).

Please correct these mistakes, it will increase the reality sensation, and cost a very few time.

      Delete
    3. "At A7/A15 intersection in Belgium : roads signs are in FRENCH !!!"
French is the official language in Belgium, along with Dutch and German.
"In Rotterdam roads signs are in DUTCH !!!"
Last time I was in Holland, I seem to remember that the language is, funnily enough, Dutch.

Or am I reading your statements wrong?

      Delete
    4. Yes, there are 3 officials languages in Belgium, but depending od the place you are, road signs are in French or Dutch (also a few one in German in Eupen-Malmedy area)

In fact A7/A15 intersection is situate in Wallonia, a part in Belgium in which all the road signs are in French.
Go to Street view and you will see that road signs gives the direction of Bruxelles and Liège (no Luik, no Brussel).

In Brussel, the ring is situate mainly in Flanders so road signs are in Dutch.

About the problem in Rotterdam, I saw a road sign that gives the direction of Liège. But in Holland the main language is Dutch indeed, so Luik should be written instead of Liège !!!

    5. Exemple of what I mean for A7/A15 intersection :

  44. SCS Please give attention to my suggestion please!!! I have a good idea for you to get the licences in a short period before release...
You should download a new mercedes mp4 Volvo FH DAF and IVECO mod from a mod community because zmodellers are more successful than you, accept this :) Than you contact and pay him the copyrights and present them to manufacturers. I am sure that they will give you the licences back. You got the Renault becausee it is perfect.. But others are not...And please change the sounds especially you should add Parking brake and REAL HORNS.. Good Luck ;)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. WHAT? Are you drunk? Mods are perfect? Perfect shit you mean? No way, I hate mod cause they decrease the speed of the game and are totally shit! SCS don't listen to crazy people who need a logo for understand that is a Merc or Volvo. Are you retard or what?

      Delete
    2. With all respect to good modders and modellers, I saw only two or three trucks better than SCS's work, and those trucks were for Haulin. Plus I didn't saw that anybody created interior at least on SCS's level. There are good modellers and map-makers, but their work is usually overestimated. Don't know why... maybe other guys from community wants to show them support, that's nice, but then surmises arise that their skills are better than SCS's. And I'm talking about few talented people. Because most of mods is pure garbage, trucks looks like paper models and highly unrealistic maps are full of bugs.

      Delete
    3. Jos!!! Then play with fucking bugfull models of SCS ok!!! Piece of shit is you!!!

      Delete
    4. Anonymous you are stupid. So you think that the trucks in the game are bad because SCS modelers aren't good in 3D modeling? Bullshit. If the original game models were detailed like mods the game would have been laggy like hell. BTW i like very much the original trucks

      Delete
    5. If they were perfect enough, they could get the licences, 2+2=4 ok bullshit!!! They make only Renault as it should be..so they have only one licence plus MAN from GTS and SCANIA from TTS and STS...

      Delete
    6. anonymous, how good the model looks doesn't matter if they give the lisence or not, money does. and most mods ARE worse then scs's models and btw you call the models made by scs buggy but they aren't

      Delete
    7. and also, you said give the license back. SCS NEVER HAD THE LICENSE. by putting the logo's in the beta game they could use it for negotiations

      Delete
    8. SCS is the best becoz is able to put trucks, 3D environment, sounds, ai, etc. all together in less than a dvd size as compared to other games. I think they should try going that route and maybe they will get recognition. As for now, SCS noka oi (is the best)

      Delete
    9. To be honest, SCS' interior modelling has only started to be good after Trucks&Trailers, even more so after STDS. The interiors were so dull in the first ETS, that it was necessary for me to play with a modded interior (which were 100 times better and more detailed than what the vanilla designs were). I've never encountered any problems with mods (except buggy map mods), but most of you are probably playing your games on shitty laptops or something, so no wonder your games lag when details are added. Let's see you playing ETS2 with the same PC you encountered laggy mods with.

The Scania interior that was in T&T was good in my opinion and the quality has gone up since. ETS2 looks very good, so there should be no need for SCS to prove themselves to manufacturers with mods. There aren't even any mods for ETS2 at the moment.

SCS not getting the licenses has probably nothing to with their presentation. Truck manufacturers are profit seeking corporations and their main goal is to make money. They just don't see any need for them to be seen in a video game. I mean, how many of you were going to walk into a truck store after playing ETS2? It's different with big budget racing games (that come from EA etc), because those licenses can be backed by hard cold cash if needed, so no need for anyone to start comparing those to this case. Also, a small company like SCS has probably very little chance to prove themselves to large corporations that those truck manufacturers are. I don't think they have lots of time to spare for SCS.

But, SCS has done very well already and supposedly has grabber 3 major licenses already and I call that a success. The predecessor had none, so progress is made like it should be, when the number of the edition turns greater. Great job SCS!

These manufacturers should, actually, be proud to put their logo in the game. As they already know, the game does not feature destruction of the trucks and the vehicle performance seems to follow reality quite accurate.
    So, why not?
Anyway, Renault trucks are a thing of beauty and they deserve to bear the logo of their creator.

  65. I take this opportunity to make a small criticism. I ordered ETS2, in a chain of stores (gamestop), in Italy (sorry for my poor english). Was to arrive on September 21, to my amazement. I knew the release on September 28. On 21, did not come naturally. A few days ago, I read that was released on October 15. Today I called the store, because I had to pick up ETS2 as I was told. I have confirmed that is released on November 2. I'm honestly not understanding anything, with all these dates. I think you have created a lot of confusion with fans, shops and suppliers. Want to give an official date for the release? it's that and not other referrals. I am very disappointed by this behavior. I understand the big work to create a really impressive product, even if this is aimed at fans very narrow than other games. But this continuous delay in my humble opinion, it is very counterproductive. A lack of clarity on the date of issue, creates a lot of confusion and threatens to discuss the client, dealers and suppliers. I hope I explained, in spite of my bad English.

  67. Congrats! Great news. Crossing fingers for more licenses - but it's really no big deal if the remaining don't come through. It will be a fantastic sim anyhow. :)

  68. MB = Our latest model is Actros MP4, but in game model is Actros MP3
Volvo = need enough money for licence, no money = get off me

    Scania = thx STDS
MAN = I love SCS software
Renualt = this game may be promote Renault models.

daf, iveco = what you say?

    1. In that case, possible that SCS is working on Actros MP4, which together with MB license will be added in DLC ;)

      Delete
    2. it has nothing to do with the ingame models. all that matters is money wich scs doesn't have that much left. so if you want to see more real brands in future patches buy the game and don't pirate it

      Delete
    3. Scania and MAN are both owned by VolksWagen AG

Renualt is owned by AB Volvo which also owns Volvo

      Iveco is owned by Fiat

DAF is owned by PACCAR which also owns brands like Kenworth and Peterbilt

MB is owned by Daimler AG

So the chance of volvo getting in the game(licensed) would be high ;) after renualt came in the game

I do not know whether you read all your posts on this site, but I'll do a little experiment
anyway. I have sat and watched part of your beta testers youtupe film. and can see a little mistake about translation in one of the load call. floorboards. directly translated. from English into Danish. but it is call thermo floor elements see link.
    http://www.building-supply.dk/article/view/74323/positiv_test_af_praefabrikerede_betonlosninger

I do not know if you have seen it but this reflection is not right ofcourse you see something from the light in a plastic (PVC) trailer but not a clear building as shown on this link

now it is en the eleventh hour
but you still have beta tester

Even after 3 years you have not a real truck Horn sound and Parking brake sound :P And of course interiors...Why low roof-trucks has a mega cab inside :D Come on guys are you sleeping :D You can download REAL HORN SOUNDS from any of Mod Communitues if you can not make yoourself :D But you should absolutely add PARKING BRAKE AIR RELEASE SOUND !!! This is one of the major elements for a truck.. Good luck but you cannot get success without giving enough attention on trucks :)

      @ Yusuf Bolukbasi

I drive trucks in the "real world" but it is harder to drive in the game as the my screen is alot smaller than the windscreen and mirrors on my truck

    4. @MADxMAX

Yes,mirrors looks really hard on small screens.Especially the right mirror.Approximation property of the mirror can be added to the next games

  82. I would like to leave a positive post here, as a lot of people are leaving negative posts. Congrats on making the most realistic truck simulation so far.

Im glad youve got rid of the horrible steering from early ets.
The engine sounds are now very good indeed and add a lot of immersion.
And I also like the weight physics when lugging up hills, oh and gearbox now is much better needing much better shifting.

So thank you, keep up the good work, I for one appreciate all your hard work

    1. I agree, I even sent Renault a message just to say keep it up. There are too many companies ridiculously protective of their brands, sometimes they should show a little more support - it can gain them a lot of respect, especially within a small community like this.
And naturally, congrats SCS! Keep it up! :)

  86. a question which ones are licensed and unlicensed????

you know so far are licensed: SCANIA, MAN and Renault
and unlicensed: VOLVO, IVECO and MERCEDES

    I missing some????

    ReplyDelete
  87. Congratulations SCS, but I don't understand the big deal about getting licensed brands. Especially if it's costing money... I would much rather have that money put towards expanding the map and adding other content in the game as patches later on. I certainly would still buy any game that interests me regardless if there are no real-world brands in the game.

  88. I recon part of Merc’s reasoning for declining licence is the height of the modals chassis/5th wheel/mudguards vs. rear wheel/s especially on the 6x4, far far to low – given most 6x4 tractor units sit on 2 spring balance beam bogie rather than air, also all the main brands of 6x4 the chassis top height & 5th wheel height sits higher when fully loaded than the 4x2 when unladen, and as anyone knows the chassis rail top height governs the 5th wheel height.

Because of this it makes the Merc trucks look overloaded vs. their competitors trucks which don’t – given they ALL use the same size wheels with the same trailers in the game and manage to have their rear mudguards mounted higher and also more space between the top of the mudguards and the trailer.

So I recon your 3d modeller/s should revisit the Merc 4x2, 6x2 & 6x4 and raise the chassis (along with all its attached parts [tanks, mudguards & etc – 5th wheel logic node]) to be inline with the other makes, as I guess they probably worked of dimensions off a “low or medium chassis height” modal which would use 60 or 50 profile tyre(295/60R22.5 - 295/50R22.5) rather than the 80 profile tyre (295/80R22.5 to 315/80R22.5) of standard chassis height trucks, once done perhaps resubmit it to Merc with regard to licencing.

Chassis rail top height comparison (all using the 295/80R22.5 to 315/80R22.5 tyre size – NOT including low chassis height modals which use 60 & 50 profile tyres) – as you can see the Merc is NOT any lower than the likes of MAN & Scania (or Volvo from memory if you separate their air spring height from their “S” and “T” ride (steel spring suspension – normal and heavy).
    Merc:
    3346S to 3360S 6x4 = (unladen) 1137mm / (laden)1047mm. (@ 26t rear bogie load)
    2646L[S] to 2660L[S] 6x4 = (unladen)1057mm / (laden)1032mm. (@ 19t rear bogie load)
    2544L[S] to 2560L[S] 6x2/2 = (unladen)1016mm / (laden)994mm.
    1846L[S] to 1860L[S] 4x2 = (unladen)1002mm / (laden)977mm.
    (L= air spring, S = steel spring)
    MAN:
    TGX 26.480 to TGX 26.540 6x4 = (unladen) 1067mm(air) 1157mm(steel) / (laden) 1037mm (steel & air spring). (@ 19t rear bogie load)
TGS 26.400 to TGS 26.440 6x4 = as per the TGX 26.480 to TGX 26.540 above.
    TGX 26.440 to TGX 26.540 6x2/2 = (unladen) 991mm / (laden) 961mm.
    TGS 26.400 to TGS 26.440 6x2/2 = (unladen) 1010mm / (laden) 980mm.
    TGX 18.440 to TGX 18.540 4x2 = (unladen) 956mm / (laden) 926mm.
    TGS 18.360 to TGS 18.440 4x2 = (unladen) 975mm / (laden) 945mm.
    Scania:
    R/G400 to R/G480 6x4 = (unladen) 1106mm / (laden) 1061mm. (@ 19t rear bogie load - steel spring)
    P360 to P400 6x2/2 = (unladen) 1000mm / (laden) 970mm.
    R500 to R730 4x2 = (unladen) 1000mm / (laden) 970mm.
