We are finally on the verge of releasing the new patch for Scania Truck Driving Simulator, extending the free roaming map. It has taken about a dozen testing and bug fixing iterations, but finally we expect to be ready for release tomorrow. Big thanks to the volunteers helping us find bugs in the game! (If there is anybody native to Spain reading this, there are still small bits left in the Spanish translation to make it complete, thanks)
The patch will require us to nuke the Leaderboard scores for free roaming Deliveries map, so everybody is going to start again collecting points on this map with a clean slate.
The Euro Truck Simulator 2 team meanwhile isn't slowing down working on bug fixing and balancing of the game. Our UK friends from Excalibur Publishing are helping us with the testing, and they also never forget about promoting the game as well. There is a new movie on their YouTube channel showing interesting moments from another delivery. We'll just have to advise them that the next time they think of creating a movie, they had better first grab a steering wheel rather than stick with keyboard steering ;-).

ReplyDeleteBeen waiting for this patch :)
ReplyDeleteawesome job guys!
also, EP get a frikkin' wheel!
when does it come out will there be a demo comimg out soon
ReplyDeleteSeems I missed the news about the release being 4th quarter now.
ReplyDeleteNice videos!
We will be in the 4th quarter in two weeks. Well its the 4th quarter in my Irish calendar anyway. It should be out soon.
Delete@steve farrell you are wrong. One year has 12 months divided into 4 quarters. One quarter of the year = 3 months. Months of the 4th quarter are October, November and December. September is in 3th quarter so you have to change your calendar.
DeleteYes just go all out and tell me to change my calendar. I was thinking fast and September is month 9 so 9 + 3 = 12. I realise I was wrong but I dont need to change my calendar.
Deletepeople READ this:
ReplyDeleteSCS is not going to add anything to ETS2 like opening windows, map upgrades, multiplayer or other things because it is just TOO close to the release. No game company does this because now it is just Bug fixing and BETA testing. so stop whining about them adding new stuff because they simply can't do that at this stage of the game(every game). So just stop with those posts and post something usefull for scs.

DeleteYeah stop That Game will be release soon
DeleteIf you wanted something you should have asked earlier!
DeleteDav ? ore daf ?
ReplyDeleteDAV!
DeleteAm I the only one getting troubles with youtube lately? that thing barely plays :/
ReplyDeleteI have to say, as a keyboard user I'm a bit worried by what I just saw here, this doesn't look as smooth an experience as STDS. Looks more like GTS. Hope I'm worrying for nothing...
It may just be a) bad driver (heh) and/or b) bad settings of the sensitivity etc. (c;
DeleteYou're right, stay positive. Bad thoughts out, good thoughts in...bad thoughts out, good thought in...
DeletePlease whhen comes time to translate ETS2 announce it here to everyone just like you did with T&T. Because withh STDS you announced it 10 days after some people started translating and thats not fair because the translations hhad been done to 98%.
ReplyDeletethey did that so that the game was not translated by google translators so that the translations would be good. for this they used the best translators from T&T.
DeleteWill the game come out in September?
ReplyDeleteAfter all this time, we deserve to know when the game will come out.
Yes because SCS Owes you right? Gotta love how some players thing they are owed stuff and dates by developers.
DeleteSCS is working as fast as they can, dude come on, give them a break, SCS owes us nothing, they work hard to make the games we love to play, they are trying their best to make the best game they can, nobody knows for sure how long it is going to take them to test and fix the problems in ETS2.
DeleteSCS take your time, relax, don't stress out, enjoy, and make us the best trucking game ever :)
M@x
SCS owes you nothing, you owe SCS money if you're going to buy this game.
DeleteEP,
ReplyDeleteIf you don't wanna drive with a wheel, at least drive with the mouse!
Or i should ask instead,
DeleteWill there be "mouse steering" in ETS 2? I hope you see this and answer scs, if there're not mouse steering i don't think i wanna buy it.
Please please answer!
EP bought a wheel.
Deletehey anonymous there will be that option dont worry! :)
DeleteMark.. maybe he does not want to buy a cheap wheel and can not afford expensive
Ok thanks anonymous :)
DeleteAnd Mark meant that ExcaliburPublishings bought a steering wheel. I read that on youtube. :)
Looking good, SCS, and yes, a wheel makes a huge difference -- less "drunk driving" impression. (c;
ReplyDeleteGood news, and yeah use a steering wheel :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the good news, keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering what was that truck they were driving was it a DAF because I wouldn't expect
ReplyDeletescs to have that manufacturer on euro truck simulator 2.
It looks like a DAF SCS variant. It looks good and if its there instead of DAF Its good enough for me.
DeleteSCS Team is so Great Team !!!
ReplyDeleteLove the video, you can really tell the player used a keyboard, but that does not bother me as to much, I know they will get it as close to STDS as they can if not better by the time they release the game, but you gotta love the new euro acres trailer livery right? alot better than the old versions
ReplyDeletekeep up the great work SCS
M@x
Amazon UK says Sept 28th. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteLol SCS, you should kick Excalibur's ass for making the game look bad with that horrible driving ;).
ReplyDeleteI kinda liked the keyboard steering in STDS (because my wheel is 385 years old), but the keyboard steering in the vid looked pretty bad... I hope it's the driver though...
If possible, I hope you guys change that wiperblade stuff, like, maybe two mode's? Slow and fast, because in ETS 1 theres only slow mode, and its heavy rain outside, and slow wiperblades wipe so easily, wiperblades should have fast mode for wiping the rain off better. I hope you get my point.
ReplyDeleteSorry for my bad english.
They can't add a single feature, they simply don't have time. Sorry.
DeleteAnimation speed isn't that big of a 'feature' mark...
DeleteI personally found it annoying not to be able to make it go slower or sometimes faster woulda felt better, least when driving at 98 kmh (now you can't pass 90 but still).
What I ended up doing in GTS was to manually turn it on and off to simulate the slower speed, am not 'that' anal but it just felt better doing so, I'd love to have it at least cycle through 2 or 3 modes, but would much prefer 2 keys to increase and decrease speed.
But am not sweating it, I can keep turning it on and off, just sayin'.
Great SCS!
ReplyDeleteEveryone worrying about the dodgy driving, I think the driver was just bad, look at the bit at the roundabout, his trailer was way off.
beautiful map!
ReplyDeletegps integrated in dashboard and overtaking by Ai traffic... excelent!
DA HORA CARA!!!
ReplyDeleteradio, phone etc. in the cabin looks kinda weird :( but anything else is just... AWESOME, especially gps in the truck :D scs, i would like to see list of trucks wich will have this build-in gps :D For now i have one small goal in the game - using ingame interface only for checking my level of... tiredness? i guess that's word for it, other thing i would like to chceck on-board, just for realism...
ReplyDeletesry for my english, im only a teenager from poland ;)
Just for you: instead "tiredness", you should have written "fatigue", but it's just one detail :)
DeleteNos Brasileiros Aguardamos esse update ansiosos obrigado SCS !!
ReplyDeleteWe Brazilians, anxious await this update SCS thanks!
i cant buy this game for my country :(
ReplyDeleteyou can buy it from their site.
Deleteetc ?
DeletePlease remove the auto-centering from the wheel when driving with keyboard. It looks ridiculous when you keep turning and centering all the time.
ReplyDeleteIt would be more fun and realistic for people who drive with keyboard if there was no automatic centering of the wheel for them.
Look at OMSI for example.
Ever driven a car? all wheels auto-center while driving, and it should. Now the place I don't want auto-centering is while at a stop, which they nailed just right in STDS. All in all, this feels pretty right atm cuz you don't get any feedback with keyboard, so that centering speed helps you judge the forces being applied to the wheel (if that makes any sense?). Without the auto-center, I think it'd feel flat (or just bleh...), least that's how I feel about it right now, might feel differently if I tested it myself, dunno...
DeleteOsmo, you can disable the auto-centering wheel in:
DeleteC:\Documents and Settings\danijel\My Documents\SCANIA Truck Driving Simulator\profile\44616E696A656C in config change the uset g_steer_autocenter "1",instead of "1" put "0" and save.
-should look like this (uset g_steer_autocenter "0" ) and auto-center is disabled.
sry for my english
@Danjel: definately gonna test that one myself. Thanks for that info. :)
DeleteJust tested it and seems my initial opinion wasn't wrong, the feeling is really off and you end up zigzaging all over the place in fast straights since its hard to refind a proper center with high sensitivity, and can't make turns with low sensitivity.
DeleteBut, thanks to this I've discovered what was wrong with that vid...the auto-center feature is about 2x the speed of STDS in ETS2, which forces you to re-hit alot sooner than you'd normally do, I just hope it's an actual setting in the 2. :/
Ziland - is problem for you steering on mouse? I think is better then keyboard.
DeleteDanijel - is there option for faster (num pad) views ? I want to look around more quickly and I cant find that option in cameras folder
The numpad views move instantly by default. The speed they use when the unsupported interpolated mode is enabled can not be changed.
DeleteWell I love STDS's steering, but ETS 2's steering doesn't look just as smooth... I got the feeling it's very different which is bad because STDS' steering was nearly perfect.
DeleteThe steering in the vid was about the same as in other SCS games, press left or right once for a very short time and the cabin starts shaking which makes it look stupid when you go through a long bend.
I would like to see
STDS' steering in ETS 2 because it's more keyboard-friendly. :'(
@AnonymousAugust 22, 2012 2:50 PM:
DeleteI really enjoy looking around the cab with the mouse, feels like your inside a real truck that way, only have one track-ir and we tend not to use it much if we're playing the same games, so as to not make the other jealous/envious, not to mention we tend to get nauseous using it.
I personally think track-ir is great, but I easily get motion sickness if the game has the wrong FOV, which most games have including GTS and STDS, at least for my very sensitive inner ear.

DeletePlz SCS hope u added a overview map in this patch. Keep up the good work :D Ets2 looks awsome
ReplyDeleteI have a overview map you can print out.
DeleteI will release it just after they release the patch.
What's the point of the map that you can print? SCS posted it anyway. And you still won't know where should you go.
DeleteWhy? Look at my map and tell me that again..
DeleteHere it is:
See or Download it here.
New patch tomorrow ??! Very nice, but my 2 week vacation is over !! Back to work !!!
ReplyDeleteI hope tomorrow meant today, because they've posted it quite late in the evening. And since the date up there says August, 21, that should mean the patch will be out today. Or they thought everyone will read the news in the morning and think the tomorrow is tomorrow. Hope, I'm wrong) Can't wait)

DeleteLooks like traffic has some trouble with overtaking. It should speed up a little while doing that, specially when overtaking long trucks. And it should take care of upcoming turnings, bridges, crosses, oncoming traffic and other stuff. Maybe I want too much but it would be really nice.
ReplyDeleteWill in the game overload or long/big trailers? with special permission ? that would be cool ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhy DAV??? if game have licenced trucks they all need to have real logos.........
ReplyDeleteDAF didn't give SCS the license to use the name DAF in the game. i think it's the same with IVECO.
DeleteWhere's my BURRITO???
ReplyDeleteonly ass creeper here

ReplyDeleteWill this game support the oculus rift in the future when its out?
ReplyDeleteGreetings
Tom
There is no guarantee however I plan to try to make it work in ETS2 once I receive the devkit.
DeleteSo there is no licence from DAF?
ReplyDeleteWell, there isn't any Spanish Strings untranslated.
ReplyDeleteBut there's a problem, in Getlocalization there are 2 Spanish languages.

ReplyDeleteGuys,
ReplyDeleteOn one of the trailers a yellow construction one in a farm the truck is upside down and against a fence so the trailer is unattainable.
Liking this vid, hope it is just a bad driver as I use my keyboard. I do like the new STDS Update and works lot smoother, would be nice for a total reset rather than create a new profile if screw up or want to reset instead of quitting and having same points...
Cheers
I just played the demo version of Scania Truck Driving Simulator for about 10 minutes, and I was a little disappointed. I was amazed by the large amount errors in spelling and grammar (language set to Dutch). It's not just about a few typos, there a literally dozens(if not hundreds) of errors in all the texts and titles.
ReplyDeleteDappa, Der, This is a "TRUCK DRIVER" SIM, Hello!
ReplyDeleteum...english?
DeleteOnce Euro Truck Sim 2 comes out will that be the end of updates on Scania Truck or will more development etc be done with it as well as ETS2?
