American Truck Simulator Release Date

At last, we are ready to commit to an official release date of the first edition of American Truck Simulator; the game will hit digital and retail stores on February 3, 2016.

As the readers of our blog will no doubt know by now, this release will be just the first step on the road. A couple of trucks and the state of California that we are bringing you with the base game release is only a fraction of our grand vision - to cover all of North America eventually and to chase every relevant truck manufacturer for a license to allow us to include their trucks into the game.

Well, we have to set on the way, and this is where we start. Hold on tight!

    4. F. Dravin, dont worry SCS promised to not just Make DLC`s but also release Things through Patches. And as far is i remember they also mentioned States As being Partially part of the patches. So basically some may cost and others are free.

  2. SWEEEEEET! And I am glad you guys are doing it State by State. I'd rather have detailed smaller areas than something like Europe where everything looked the same no matter where you drove. Judging from the screenshots, though, I don;t see that happening with ATS :)

    1. Yes i agree. europe is made really bad. It needs redoing but they only think of the new generation. Sad :(

    2. "And I am glad you guys are doing it State by State."
      I just hope there won't be 50 DLC's, 20 usd each :P

    3. I can see both sides of the fence for sure. I hope to not be shelling out for DLC on the level like Train Simulator does. I refuse to buy Train Sim's DLC because they charge as much for DLC as they do the base game ... actually a cople of their routes cost MORE than the game itself.

But I definitely do not mind paying a bit additional for each state as long as it is themed to that state and quality. If we get a couple of states in and it all feels like the same state, then yeah I'll definitely be sad.

      Delete
    4. I hope SCS will be adding more North American content not in the shape of single state releases, but will instead do them in bundles, e.g. The rest of NW, Southern states, Midwest, etc.

    5. Can't wait till they eventually do Canada then. I want to see how they make my home look

    6. And then have your truck get stuck in our lovely snow.

  3. I would buy if i see better physic, and sounds.. Not copied physic from ETS, and paste here, and we feel like driving vans

    1. It's a truck simulator, what do you expect? It's bound to be like ETS2...by the way,the sounds and physics in Ets2 are fine,I don't know what more each hater from this blog wants...

      Delete
    2. Simulator? Ehhh. I have doubt you don't known what "simulator" does exactly mean..
So if the game have only real logos truck, suddenly becomes simulator?

      Delete
    3. So, everybody who critise the bad work from SCS is hater? Meh, i don't known what going with today people.. Everyone for him is hater.. Current truck physic fine... Ok, i also have doubt u never seen a truck in real life.
You don't feel the weight in this game..
Its more like "arcade simulator American"

      Delete
    4. That's what the mods are for -_-

      Delete
    5. Please, go visit a play to Project Cars, Omsi Bus Simulator 2, and other cars/buses simulators and come back here and tell me what makes ETS or ATS simulators.. Maybe only truck logos? If I'm wrong, please correct me

      Delete
    6. @Shaun...
Yeah the game is always been based on mods...
SCS don't even need to work, modders will fix it.
A simply clean 4/10 without mods. :/ really

      Delete
    7. Do you know that people can enjoy the game without "feeling the weight"?It doesn't have to be exactly like the real to be a simulator...there are mods, use them if you aren't satisfied...At least the game exists, would it be better with nothing?

    9. I do agree that Omsi 2 feels more real than ETS2, but that dosent mean ETS2 is a bad simulator. I'm quite familiar with trucks myself, and i would say that ETS2 dose represent the features pretty close to reality. Overall it is one of the better games who has "simulator" in the title.

      Delete
    10. I understand your point, but at what point does making the game too real take away from the fun? Maybe you, and about 5 other people in the world would like it to be so realistic that its like we are actually working as a truck driver. Well I like it the way it is now, I don't want a job, I want a game that I can enjoy. You sound like one of the jerks that give people a hard time on multiplayer if it takes them more than 30 seconds to park their trailer.

    11. Do you come here just to be a whiney baby all the time. My very first game on PC was Live For speed , then rFactor and many other sim racing games. I was a backer for Project cars while it was being developed and I know all to well what a sim is because I have been playing sim racing and driving games with thirteen years. So I can confidentally say ETS 2 is a simulator for druck driving.

  15. I remember SCS as a developer of many quite boring and bad games like Haulin, American Long Haul, Extreme Trucker and German Truck Simulator for example. So the transformation which the company went from these poor games to current massive successful ETS2 with many people eagerly waiting ATS is awesome success for me. All best to you SCS. I'm proud that I am Czech and know that in our little country there is company with that potential. I can't wait to release. / Mnoho úspěchů při dokončování hry a doufám, že se s ATS definitivně zařadíte mezi top vývojářskou elitu, kam teď už určitě patříte.

    2. If you want better rain and sound to all trucks.. Just mod it! Same thing.. We all think different! Just get it.

  26. We want pre orde.. I mean open beta to find bugs before release :)

Anyway, I see many "elitists" critisising this game as not enough simulator. Theese are the fans of unnamed graphically ancient MEGA bugged game that needs core i7 + nvidia titan to run properly. :) Keep crying on.

I would like more simulation/administration aspects though.

  58. About real brands of truck manufacturers :

I think real brands are cool but, on the other hand, that may be the reason we can not have too many upgrades to trucks because most of them are not " official" upgrades.

I don´t care if truck brand is "Majestic" if SCS can offer hundreds of upgrades or spare parts to that truck. It is great to see "Mercedes" logo and brand but when we go to customize this and all the other trucks, upgrades and spare parts are really bad, and that´s why modders have great trucks and those others, like me, who never use mods have trucks " like a virgin " ..... :)

  65. Glad to see a release date for ATS:California...
    A couple of questions SCS:
    - Is ATS following the same economy model as ETS2 ?
    - Is the map designed on the same scale as ETS2 ?
    - Does it come with dx11 support ?
    - Are you going to release a free Demo like for ETS2 ?
Hope ATS map expansions will come out on a faster rate then ETS2( one at every 1.5 years ) and i hope the price of them will be lower then those for ETS2. North America is a big place and i dont plan on spending thousands of dollars on a out-dated game. We should get the other states either in a bundle or if they come as one on smaller price then SCandinavia or Going East.

    Thank you !

  72. I will definitely NOT buy this game at release...maybe never! SCS dissapointed us with poor quality of ETS2 and lot of trivial and unimportant stuff (paintjobs, unreal physics for them and for entire truck...poor rendered particle system(dust) , no posibility to spend more money on secondary stuff like garage upgrading(visual), ugly curtains in the expensive Accesories DLC and ignore the real demands and "must have" like multiple point deliveries, tandems, optimize the shitty "Inexistent" economy, all the Companies Bases are looking the same everywhere...)

Just a little off-topic tho... Y'all are working (and almost finishing) ATS, but didn't stop releasing stuff for ETS2. So are there any plans about still expanding the map? Mainly asking about the rest of Italy and France, and adding Ireland, Spain, Portugal and other East Europe countries.

(I know there are mods for that, but I'd love to see something official, maybe even working with the mod releasers)

  79. biggest think i feels ets2 lacks is if you take you're foot off the clutch the truck should lug out and idel away with out needing throttle.

but i know the real volvos, man, so on dont do that and i guess why they made it euro spec but still another option that would make better.

you cant feel the weight of the trailer... I think it needs bit more attention to detail in the small things. i do look fowards too this but hopefully the trucks feel more real..
