Euro Truck Simulator 2 team is working hard on finalizing of ETS2 1.14 Update. Stabilization of this large update had been our focus for several weeks already.
The development team's long-term assignment is very challenging. We are not just "patching" the game with bug fixes two full years after its release. We are committed to bringing you significant improvements every couple of months. That's why we prefer to call new game version releases "updates" rather than "patches".
For every update release, we need to hit a moment in time when we have a stable and as much as possible bug-free combination of game data and source code. Our team may work on 10+ major features in parallel, yet for a given game update we usually decide that just two or three of them are already mature enough for publishing. The rest needs to stay hidden from public eyes until it's ready. However, the priorities of finalizing, bug fixing, and polishing of the particular features picked for an update and working on "future stuff" in parallel are quite contradictory and really hard to follow at the same time and within the same asset database and game source code. To release an update, ideally everything should be in the "freeze" mode to minimize the danger of introducing new bugs. But "freeze" is the enemy of progress - we cannot stop working on "future stuff" for too long if we want to see good progress on major features or optimizations that often require half a year or more of dedicated time.
We still haven't found an ideal solution to this problem of trying to focus both on short term incremental improvements and on long term "big picture" evolution. It may be frustrating for the dev team at times, and it may also be frustrating for you, the players, as you have to wait longer for game updates. But we are doing what we can, and we hope that the string of future updates and releases coming from SCS Software's labs will justify a little bit of frustration. ;)
So anyway, we feel that we are very close to releasing the public beta of 1.14 update for ETS2! We will do it with the help of Steam's back-end just as during the previous public betas. The feedback loop from a public beta is really very useful in the final stages before an official release. We'd rather not promise any particular release dates, but the ambition is "days" rather than "weeks".
In case you have missed the new ETS2 update 1.14 features we had mentioned here on the blog earlier, they include tag-lift truck axles and finally the new DAF Euro 6 truck.
Meanwhile, the American Truck Simulator team is never ceasing to work. There is grumbling that we don't pay enough attention to their project on the blog. So let us wrap up the long and heavy rant post with a couple of screenshots of American desert setting from American Truck Simulator to cheer you up on the weekend...

ReplyDeletedon't you know that the Illuminati always meet on top of train cars? Geez.... :P lol
Deletelol....:P
DeleteYea but no video yet
DeleteThey're discussing serious business dude!
DeleteIf you guys have read it carefully, they said the public beta will be out in some DAYS and not Weeks...so I think it might be in this week...:)
DeleteI'm so exited.. :-D
ReplyDeleteYou are doing on impressive work SCS, the lifting axels are really a great improvement! Can't wait to see that in-game. Keep up the good work guys! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the hard work SCS. I'm sure the next update will be worth the wait! :)
ReplyDeleteStill waiting patiently for the Scandinavian DLC. :D
Thank you very much for updating ETS2 regularly, and making great work to improve it.
ReplyDeleteATS looks really good. Do you plan to release an early access ? You know, it's like a public beta for the updates, it helps to find bugs and such. Please. :)
Are we getting a tag axle like
ReplyDeletehttp://www.mascus.com/image/product/large/15ea0562/Scania-R420-6x2-tag-axle,29f0032f.jpg
Or is the tag just like the 6x4 chassis ?
do americans have lifting axles?
Deleteyes some do. Normally 'Big Rigs' and rigid lorry's with more than 3 axles do.

ReplyDeletePhoto number 1 to guess that they are around the village of Baker in California, exactly the crossroads of 127 and 15
Deletehttps://www.google.pl/maps/place/Baker,+Kalifornia,+Stany+Zjednoczone/@35.2709237,-116.0683148,14z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x80c5bdbf4364c54d:0xa9777395358b2063
DeleteDear SCS Software i have little problem so i have ets2 with dlc i put the activation key on steam BUT game says missing dlc? plz answer team and other people
DeleteI hope we get 53' trailers like Thermo king or Wabash. Also standard daycab tucks like Mack, Volvo vnl 300, and Kenworth.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the aproximate release date for the DLC - Rigid Trucks???
ReplyDeleteALSO, PLEASE add the option to buy our own trailers and customize them (Change tires, paint, add lights, etc.)
ReplyDeleteI never thought about that, that would be very cool, you see owners with custom trailers all the time, I want longer trailers, when you compare ATS with real American trucks and trailers, they always seem so short don't you think?
DeleteYea. They looks like 40's. Hopefully they add the option to buy trailers to ATS and ETS2.
Deletethat might change whole game logic and Idont think that will happend
DeleteUnless it's an OPTION, I'm hoping it won't get implemented into the gam! :p
DeleteWell at least it wouldn't be as lame of a feature as being able to get out of the truck. Trailer ownership was one of the best features in 18 wos haulin, It kind of was meant to contribute to the "company owner" experience I guess. It was a lot nicer to be pulling a trailer with the look you liked and if I remember right, you got paid more to use your own trailer instead of the one the company supplied. I'm sure it'd be an option anyway in ETS2 because you don't really have to buy a trailer, you could just keep using the company supplied trailers.
Deletestop teasing with ATS screenshots and release an early access already..even if its just san francisco - california..we dont care we wanna play while you continue to expand the world..
ReplyDeleteSCS cannot legally release the game, or any part of it to the public without licensing (contract) from the truck manufacturers. They have mentioned that they do not have these yet, so good luck with getting them to release it. There are probably a lot of bugs, etc. where they wouldn't feel comfortable releasing an early access 4 months before the normal scheduled release.
DeleteThat's not true Noah. They can release the game, but they cannot include the trucks using the Kenworth or Peterbilt, but using a name that is similar, to those, and trucks that look like them. In other words, just like they did with the early releases of ETS2 with Dav, Ivedo, Valiant and Majestic models that look(ed) like Daf, Iveco, Volvo and Mercedes. ;)
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteMark, it is true like I said, but you are right that they can tweak it.. As is, SCS has the real manufacturers (not too hard to change them), but we are months out regardless of the contract or not. Also, this is quoted from a previous blog pertaining to them using photos of real manufacturers "(Please note that any brands appearing in the images are only illustrative and are not guaranteed to find their way into future SCS Software projects until and unless we manage to obtain an official license.)" --> So they are going to go after the license anyways, even though they don't necessarily need to get them. However, relationship with the manufacturers is a big thing for them, so I'm sure they would like to start off on the right foot. Hopefully it fits in with their timeline, so they are both released as soon as the trucks are ready.
DeleteBut that is ONLY if they keep the branded models that they are showing in the images. Like you said, SCS, in an earlier blog, stated that they "only illustrative and are not guaranteed", so technically, ATS can be released without the brands. It would be a shame if they hold back the release of ATS, just because of they haven't go the brand licensing. :(
DeleteWell they said themself they dont want to have even an initial release until they get the licenses so..gg..will takes years probably
DeleteThe trailers seem a little short, In the United States the trailers are typically longer at about 53 feet (16.1544 meters) long
ReplyDeleteGuys, you're doing a very professional and efficient job. Some might say far better than a lot of larger game creation companies. Keep doing what you're doing. I can wait for 1.14 as there are plenty of MODs to keep me enterained, but if anything, the more I wait the more excited I am. Not too long though please :D
ReplyDeletelooks great have you seen the landscapes of driveclub so close to the real
ReplyDeletesummer sunny touch

something how that you can also accomplish
SCS create a game simulator of Truck Brazilian. Brazilian Truck Simulator please ^^'
ReplyDeleteWow, just wow. Look at the world in ATS. I can't wait any longer, release Pls!!!
ReplyDeletepls add Canada to the map or have Canada as a DLC
ReplyDeleteBrazil
ReplyDeleteSCS software you will continue working Euro Truck Simulator 2?
SCS keep doing updates, expansions, DLCs please ..
Do not give up the game.
Please add Canada!!
ReplyDeleteNot sure how you can have a stop sign and traffic lights in the same intersection. Everything else looks pretty nice, minus the fact that there aren't any 53' trailers.
ReplyDeletewhen traffic lights are switched off like in night then stop sign is in force
DeleteThey don't shut traffic lights off at night... I don't think they do tht anywhere in the world.
DeleteUhh. Yes they do in Europe, especially on roads without heavy traffic. Besides it might also be useful during a power outage or any other malfunction.
DeleteGreat looking game so far SCS. Are you going to have any of those extra long trailers in ATS like the nuclear waste trailer from 18 wheels of steel?
DeleteWestern Star 4900 EX!!! Please, please, please!!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome work to the whole SCS team! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWill Mercedes Benz get the real logo?
ReplyDeleteJust so u know Interstates are always motorway or freeway in this case from start to finish other than that keep up the good work and good luck on the final stages of the update
ReplyDeleteIt is good to hear that you are finishing the update. I will help you to test beta version on Steam, when it's ready:) You also explain the reason of delays, I hope you will deal quickly with problems. My wish is to cross the US by Peterbilt 587 very soon. Do your best and take my money.
ReplyDeleter u sure they're not sittin there havin a coffee and cookie?
ReplyDeleteHaha, it feels like it sometimes. :-D
DeleteBut the lift axle will be worth the wait for me.
American Truck Simulator looks almost like GTA V hyhy: D. Returning to the issue of ETS 2, congratulations studio SCS for issuing beautiful DAF, thank you.
ReplyDeleteNow here is a possible idea for ats. Rather then just have trailers pre loaded and what not. How about live loading/unloading for us who want to own our own trailers and trucks. To possibly make it 100% real. What im getting to is, We own our own truck buy our own trailers. Sign a contract or even get a load. Head to a shipper with an empty trailor/flatbet and have them load it while were waiting. Make it more realist is possible. Look forward to more updates and possibly a date that it will come out. Thx for taking your time looking at my post if you do.
ReplyDeleteAs amazing as this would be, I'd love it but most average players wouldn't like the aspect of waiting around at a shipper as they may only be planning to go on ATS for a short play session, so adding a feature like you've suggested should have skip forward (Time-lapse) of the loading/unloading, or the player should be able to toggle on/off

DeleteAs for the date, Excalibur Publishing lists it as February 20, 2015. I'm sure that is subject to change based on many factors beyond even SCS's control, but Excalibur is SCS's UK publishing partner, so it's at least somewhat reliable.
DeleteWhat about the coach simulator????
ReplyDeleteare we going to have snowy alps too
ReplyDeleteI would love it if you decide to make a large map add-on of Canada <3
ReplyDelete(Obviously as a pay for DLC)
As usual a lot of non significant information without concrete details. We know what is need to release product for public information. If we must still wait give us specific information. What is the purpose of making a secret of it. Maybe lack of details means trouble ?
ReplyDeleteYou cannot do more than you can :) Remember that. And thanks
ReplyDeleteI am sure that I am going to get this game. It looks awesome. I hope SCS will expand the map to Mexico and Canada. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeletenice one, keep up the good work
ReplyDeleteI Wish Euro Truck Simulator would add Northern Ireland. When you made UK Truck simulator you left out Northern Ireland Why ? Its a real shame as there is 5 Citys here in Northern Ireland, Belfast 286,000, Londonderry 85,016 , Lisburn 71,465, Newry 29,946, Armagh 14,590 Please dont forget about us. Be great too see our beautiful land added to the game.
ReplyDeletegreat guys .... just take a time , that we get good game on the end from all of your work ! Still we have a lot of problem with Virtual memory ....and we cant use out memory to the end ...we need 64 BIT version too.
ReplyDeleteGreat work! Looking forward to the update.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait :D
ReplyDeleteWait a min so there is no new Mercedes Benz Actors so bad but i may be wrong
ReplyDeleteplease SCS not stop working on euro truck simulator 2, when out american truck simulator. and it would be good that the 2 games remaining in updates. not stop working on euro truck simulator 2 as they did in the euro truck simulator.
ReplyDeletefor anybody that wondering about wheres the 53ft trailer, if you look at the 3 screenshot there's a reefer at the top left and they already showd a 53ft flatbed too
ReplyDeleteNice work SCS
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to the next update with the new DAF an I hope the Mercedes and Renault also come soon
Finland in DLC? Øresund Bidge? More realisic brake sound? o/
ReplyDeletewe neeed video proof of that game enough with the pics
ReplyDeleteGreat Work guys !
ReplyDeleteSCS we want a f#cking realise date we are tired of pictures only and am tired of play ETS I want a new game I don't want to wait anymore you started finished ' : '
ReplyDeleteWould you want them to release it now?? Unfinished, full of bugs, always requiring updates.... OR Would you rather WAIT and have a complete game with lots of trucks and no bugs?!?!? And stop asking about a f*cking release date. They will tell when they want to!
DeletePlease the map like this https://www.google.co.id/maps/@40.177125,-122.234384,15z So, many little roads in here, the interstate is the one big road only.
ReplyDeleteSaudações do Brasil!
i can't wait to be release of ATS, while waiting for new update of ETS 2 1.14!
ReplyDeleteWhy is a highway tractor pulling a logging trailer that's loaded with pipe and not logs? here we go again, SCS playing guessing games.
ReplyDeleteBecause logs aren't the only type of cargo you can haul with that kind of trailer...
DeleteThat is a log trailer.
DeletePlease SCS from now on the big truck show rooms must be outside the cities think about this idea the map is becoming bigger. Thanks
ReplyDeleteGreat update. Many will already appreciate the process and knowing a little more of the detail and mindset helps frame the information. Other, well ... it is what it is.
ReplyDeleteTrue to your word SCS, you keep on developing the game. Awesome and Thanks!
Trailer hitch light switch
ReplyDeleteVisit to Allie Knight https://youtube.com/channel/UCX5lzIiZZT6GUplYkSJ3yBg , you can see about trucker life. If you want to fill fuel, you have to exit from interstate. And if possible, in truck stop area, driver can out from truck to shopping in plaza and buy coffee or meal. That's funny. So, you will be fat. :D Hahaha.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited it's so good to see what scs is doing
ReplyDeleteTomorrow! Tomorrow! I love yah, tomorrow!
DeleteYou're always a day away!
Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I love yah, tomorrow!
You're always a day away!
Lyrics to Annie-tomorrow
:)
Finally a game with reasonably placed traffic signals! Whoo Hoo!
ReplyDeleteI need "ATS" right now!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhile I appreciate the work you guys are doing...I can't help but nitpick, and I seriously hope you take my comments into consideration for improvement, I know you can take criticism...you do all the time.
ReplyDeleteAnyways...that first screenshot. I have no idea where you got the idea to put stop signs at every single intersection with a traffic light, but it's completely unnecessary and NEVER used like that, especially for more than 1 lane of traffic. That would mean traffic stopping even for green lights, that's the point of traffic lights to begin with! To control traffic that stop signs can't control. There's various other things I could point out in other picks (and I have before) but I think you guys should do some research on the North American road system instead of only focusing on getting the trucks to look accurate. there's more to a sim than just trucks, you of all people should know that.
Regardless, I'm glad to see some progress, and I really don't mind waiting for a release. I just like to see the progress.
Days eh....
ReplyDelete1 Month later for 1.14 ...
ReplyDeleteDays, not weeks ? Yeah ... Month also are days ... around 30 days.
ReplyDeleteYear also are days , arround 365 days
Delete1 year later... damn it just takes to long
ReplyDeleteHow long will it take till The 1.14 update to ETS2 is finished ?? :-)
ReplyDeleteDo not work very bottom fog lights. In the mirror reflection of the trailer and a distal pattern has jitter and flicker.
ReplyDelete
