SCS On The Road: Clifford Truck Show 2025

We are back with another episode of our SCS On The Road series! This time, you’ll be joining our colleagues Mark, Cenda, and Alex Kopytko, who recently set out on a business trip to the United States and Canada.

The primary goal of their journey was focused on work, particularly scanning vehicles and recording authentic sounds to bring even more realism to our projects. However, with the trip already taking them overseas, they decided to stay a bit longer and attend a very special event: the Clifford Truck Show 2025 in Ontario, Canada.

This annual gathering is well-known among trucking enthusiasts for its impressive lineup of customized and classic trucks, friendly atmosphere, and passionate community. Mark and Cenda were able to walk among some truly remarkable machines and capture the unique spirit of the show, all while connecting with people who share the same love for trucks and trucking culture.

During the event, Mark also had the pleasure of chatting with Chris Hall, one of the Head Coordinators of the Clifford Classic Truck Show. In their conversation, Chris shared some insights about the show's history, its growth over the years, and what makes this gathering so unique. It’s always inspiring to hear firsthand about the effort and passion that go into organizing such a community-driven event.

What makes this episode even more exciting is the number of familiar faces our team ran into during the show. They caught up with Smarty, a longtime community member, modder, and SCS External Tester, as well as Kyle, who used to work with Mark, and Dan Eichhorn, who some of you may remember from our earlier encounters a few years ago. It’s always a pleasure to see how strong and connected the trucking community is!

We would like to extend a big thank you to the organizers of the Clifford Truck Show for their warm welcome, to everyone who took the time to share their stories with us, and to all the wonderful people we met along the way.

Project Route 66 Rework - Meet the Team

A few weeks ago, we introduced the Route 66 Rework, which will focus on key stretches in Northern Arizona and parts of New Mexico, particularly along I-40. Before we can show you glimpses of the team's work, we would like you to meet our colleagues working on this project!

After completing the California Rework Project, Janek and his team turned their attention to Route 66 and its surroundings. With the upcoming Illinois DLC already in development, this legendary American highway will at last be completed, but since parts of it no longer meet today's map design standards, the Route 66 Rework Project has begun. The rework team consists of 16 members, including a few external collaborators - and today, you'll get to meet some of them.

Janek - Project Lead

"I've been with SCS for almost seven years, working on several projects as a map designer and leading the third and fourth phases of the California rework. My main role is to support the team, coordinate with other departments, and oversee rework projects to make sure they come out as they should. Reworking is so fulfilling that it has become my full focus lately - and even in my personal life, I've started renovating my apartment. At the moment, that's pretty much what my life revolves around. Can you guess which rework will be finished first? Or maybe which rework project will come next?"

Ella

"Working as a game developer has been a dream job for me. Designing maps for American Truck Simulator utilizes my passion for learning about American urbanism, infrastructure, geography, and culture, but also functions as my artistic outlet. I'm able to find much joy in what I do even today, nearly 6 years after joining the company. Since I've gained plenty of experience working on large cities over the years, my task here is rebuilding New Mexico's largest city: Albuquerque. As the naming of the project suggests, our goal is to also put emphasis on the historic parts of the Route 66. Therefore, I'm intending to prominently feature it in my work on Albuquerque as well. For example, players will be able to drive through the city's rich downtown, which was previously not possible. I hope that players will have a great time exploring the redesigned city along with all the other parts of and around the legendary Route 66."

Johny

Hi, I'm Johny! I've been at SCS for about 5 years now. I actually joined during Covid, which was a pretty crazy time for everyone. After finishing my degree in Civil Engineering at CTU, I wanted a job where I could put what I learned to use - and that path led me to map design here at SCS. It's definitely not as technical as real civil engineering, but honestly, it's a lot less stressful and way more fun. Right now, I'm working on the Grand Canyon, and my goal is to create something our players will really enjoy. I've had the chance to see the Grand Canyon in person, and I’ll do my best to bring that experience into the game as faithfully as I can.

Terez

"Hi, my name is Terez, and I joined SCS in 2022 as a map designer. In my free time, I enjoy playing World of Warcraft, painting, and working out. I am also a big fan of the manga Berserk. I am currently working on two cities - Kingman and Flagstaff - and part of the Route 66, with a small settlement called Seligman. I really enjoy doing depot areas, truck stops, and city downtowns. I hope that players will find the Route 66 Rework exciting as much as I do.  See ya in the next upcoming projects."

Filip

"After gaining experience during the 4th phase of the California rework, I was given the opportunity to create a fresh new look for Page and US-191. Both locations come with their own challenges, but that’s exactly what makes this project so exciting. I hope you'll enjoy many memorable journeys here and experience the authentic Arizona atmosphere we strive to deliver."

Roman

"September of this year marks my third year at SCS. In that time, I gained new friends and a lot of new experiences. The greatest thing about SCS is the people I get to work with every day. Not only do we teach each other new things, but we also gain mutual understanding. As for what I am currently working on: a rework project has its unique set of challenges. Sometimes, you need to completely remove the old map and start working from the ground up while keeping the gameplay and functions the same; other times, the layout might stay the same, but all the other things change. But there are also opportunities to expand the map and add new interesting areas, and that includes some of the work I did, so I am excited to see what players will think of those. So far, working for SCS has been quite a journey, and I am looking forward to what the future holds."

Margo

"My responsibilities on this project were bringing to life Camp Verde and the surrounding area of I-17 and US 260. Semi-arid Arizona plains might seem repetitive after a while, so making them fun to explore can be a tricky task. I think I handled them well, adding a variety of biomes and sculpting techniques for the players to enjoy the mountainous views in the distance. Camp Verde was a smaller but no less complex project of mine. My intention was to create a cozy place worth a visit when you're around. Don't let it wait too long on your journeys, it's worth your while."

Tomáš

"In Arizona, I'm working on the roads away from the big cities, which is my preferred kind of task. I like open landscapes, forests, hills, mountains, and rocks. Even though an ATS rework wasn't always in the spotlight, it offered a big part of these interesting biomes, which was nice to work on. I really appreciate reworks, because from what I have experienced, not many DLC-based titles rework their base game locations up to current standard."

Mykyta

"Hi! I'm Mykyta, the vegetation specialist on the Route 66 Rework project. Right now, I’m focused on bringing the landscapes around Tucumcari to life. My work is all about shaping environments that reflect the atmosphere of this legendary road - dusty, sun-soaked, and framed by canyons. From weathered motels to wide desert plains, I want the scenery I create to feel alive and carry the spirit of Route 66."

Rob

"I loved playing PC games even as a little boy, when I played Prehistorik on a DOS computer. This passion never left me and eventually led me to SCS Software. After my hectic corporate career, I am extremely happy to be part of a wonderful team of gamers and to be able to participate in the creative process of map creation. Together with Barb, Kuba, and Miya, we are the newest additions to the map designers' team. My first job is to rework the states that the iconic Route 66 passes through. Long open roads, endless plains, neon motels, old gas stations, and a road trip across America. Route 66 – here we go!"

Barbara

"Hi, my name is Barbara. I joined SCS just a few months ago as a map designer, and I really enjoy this work. I've always played games and always will, so I'm really glad I can now also take part in creating them. I'm currently working on the rework of Arizona and Nevada. I enjoy shaping the atmosphere of the dry, sun-scorched desert that you experience while driving through it, and one day I'd love to visit these places in real life."

Jakub

"I am new to SCS, but as a long-time fan and ATS player, I am familiar with the game and am happy to finally be able to participate in map creation. I wanted to go to America mainly because of the beautiful and diverse nature and the wonderful cities. Unlike the monotonous green-gray Europe, I enjoy how the different scenery in America creates unique color palettes that are always a joy to discover and then incorporate into the game. Hopefully, the result of my work will be true and beautiful landscapes."

And that's it for today! We hope you've enjoyed meeting the map designers working on this rework project. Make sure to stay tuned for more updates from ATS by following us on X/TwitterInstagramFacebookBluesky, and TikTok, or by subscribing to our newsletter! Until then, we wish you safe travels!

Louisiana: Port Fourchon

Today, we're excited to share with you about one of the largest industrial areas you'll encounter in our upcoming Louisiana DLC for American Truck Simulator. Let's take a ride to Port Fourchon!

Situated at the end of Louisiana Highway 1, this massive industrial hub is at the heart of the region’s offshore oil and gas industry, with thousands of trucks passing through every day to keep operations moving. Our map team wanted to capture that same sense of scale and importance in-game, giving players a true taste of what it’s like to deliver to a key industrial hub supporting a wide range of sectors across the USA.

In Port Fourchon, you’ll find a wide variety of industries to deliver to and from, including a custom-built river port, a chemical plant, oil storage facilities, and the very first custom shipyard depot to appear in American Truck Simulator.

As you can imagine, with the amount of drivers passing through, this area also offers amenities and services for truckers, including a truck stop and truck service stop, in-case you need to stop off a little break, or need to upgrade your rig for the job at hand!

Life along the Gulf Coast is not without its hardships, and our designers have paid close attention to the details that reflect the realities of the region. Houses and buildings raised on stilts, storm-damaged structures, and weathered, rusty machinery tell the story of an area shaped by frequent hurricanes and powerful storms. It’s a place defined by tough work and tough people.

We can't wait for you to experience Port Fourchon in our upcoming Louisiana DLC for American Truck Simulator. If you like what you've seen today, be sure to add it to your Steam Wishlist! We appreciate all of your support, and we look forward to welcoming you to the Pelican State in the future. Until then, keep on truckin'!

Scandinavia Refresh: Denmark's Motorway 16

As part of our ongoing Scandinavia Refresh project for Euro Truck Simulator 2, we'd like to share another exciting update with you. Today, we invite you to explore new routes through Denmark. This addition not only expands your options on your journey but also enriches the landscapes, settlements, and landmarks you’ll encounter along the way.

With this update, we'll introduce Motorway 16 (Hillerødmotorvejen) and Road 26 (Primærrute 26), offering a fresh inland passage across Denmark. These routes add a more varied and authentic experience to your travels, complete with two brand-new gas stations to keep you and your truck rolling on your adventures.

One of the highlights of this new connection is the road through Viborg. Here, you’ll find one of the newly added gas stations. Viborg’s placement makes it an ideal stop for both short and long hauls, offering a chance to refuel before continuing your journey deeper into Denmark.

Heading westwards, the route passes near the charming town of Skive. While the main flow of traffic skirts around the settlement, keen-eyed drivers may notice four of the “11 Stars of Skive” (more information on page 50) along the way. These four sculptures are: Torvet, Tegnet, Vestenvinden, and Kraka, which stand proudly as artistic landmarks, giving drivers an extra layer of local flavour to admire as they pass through.

Further along, the road reaches V. Vilsund, home to the second new gas station. Here, drivers will also cross the impressive Vilsundbroen bridge. In real life, this is a drawbridge that occasionally opens for passing ships. While it remains fixed in our in-game version, we are still proud to bring this important regional landmark to life for players to experience.

The addition of Roads 16 and 26 represents yet another step in our commitment to refreshing and enhancing the Scandinavia DLC. By continuing to expand and improve these areas, we aim to ensure that your trucking experience remains immersive, diverse, and as realistic as possible.

We look forward to sharing more updates with you soon as work on the Scandinavia Refresh project continues. Until then, keep your eyes on the road and enjoy exploring Denmark’s newest connections!

SCS On The Road: The Mack Experience Center

Welcome back to another episode of SCS On The Road! This time, Nemiro, Mark, and Oscar take you along on their visit to the Mack Experience Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

First and foremost, we'd like to thank Mack Trucks for inviting us to their legendary Experience Center, and also to Zach Fenstermacher and Doug Maney, who showed us around.

In this episode, we explore their showroom, browse the merch store, and visit the museum to dive into Mack's rich history - and see not just trucks, but also buses, fire trucks, and even Megatron from the Transformers movie. To top it off, we had the incredible opportunity to get behind the wheel and drive some of their trucks on the impressive test track. Now, without further ado, let's watch the video!

And that's it for today. We hope you enjoyed this episode, and again, huge thanks to Mack Trucks, who made it all happen, so make sure to return the favor by following them on X/Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Remember to follow us as well on X/TwitterFacebookInstagramBluesky, and YouTube, so you won't miss out on any new SCS On The Road episodes. Coaches: Bus Stations

With the upcoming arrival of our new Coaches DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2, we know many of you are curious about how the bus and coach experience will work across our in-game world. A big part of that experience is, of course, the bus stations themselves.

These locations will serve as the main hubs where players pick up and drop off passengers, and they’ve recently been receiving extra attention from our team as we prepare the in-game world for coaches. From refreshing old prefabs to introducing brand-new stations, we spoke with two of the developers involved in shaping ETS2 for this upcoming module.

"When work on Project Coaches began, there were already 7 prefab bus station models used in over 100 locations across the ETS2 map." Dominik, Producer of Project Coaches, explains “Our plan is to completely rework 6 of them, as they are almost 10 years old, while one of the newer prefabs from our Road to the Black Sea DLC will receive a light refresh. Some layouts will remain similar, but others will receive brand-new designs, based on real life locations. Unlike the older prefabs, which were surrounded by fences or walls, the new ones will allow us to remove them, so stations can connect more naturally with the environment. It may sound like creating those stations in the first place was work wasted, but it wasn’t, those prefabs served well as placeholders, and thanks to them, we can now rebuild and have over 100 coach stations ready across the map.”

However, not every bus station you’ll encounter was already in the game. In fact, many new stations are being added to improve overall coverage across Europe. “We checked the station distribution and tried to cover as many blank spaces as possible, and also add coach stations to most of the main cities,” explains Dominik. “Sometimes our map designers had already built custom coach stations, similar to custom depots. In other places, we didn’t have anything close to the city centre or to the real coach station location, so we had to improvise and use a small stop, which in reality is sometimes used by coaches.”

Of course, some stations stand out more than others. When possible, we’ve aimed to recreate famous or landmark coach stations. “Whenever there was a possibility to include a real-world landmark coach station within our map scale, we tried to use it and build a completely new station. A perfect example is Hunedoara in Romania, which is a completely unique landmark location. In some cases, we could even add a new road and fit a reworked prefab with a few notable landmarks around it.” explains Dominik.

Kain, one of our Map designers, adds: “Some custom stations will be harder than others to navigate. Our testers are making sure they are difficult, but not impossible, to manoeuvrer in. In some stations, you may encounter other vehicles already parked up, this will be a rare occurrence, but will make that stop much more challenging.”

Beyond visuals, the functionality of bus stations has also been improved. “With the new prefab stations, we did research on regulations for how much space is needed for coaches to manoeuvre. With the addition of smaller stops, players will have a really different experience depending on where they are” adds Dominik.

We’ve also seen some players on our forums asking whether the map updates coming with Project Coaches will be exclusive to those who own the DLC. We’re happy to confirm that any changes made to the base map or existing map expansions will be available to everyone who owns ETS2 or the respective map DLC, regardless of whether you own the Coaches DLC itself.

The work doesn’t end at release. As Dominik tells us, “We plan to long-term support Coaches by adding new stations to future DLCs and reworks, as well as to the current base map.”

We hope you enjoyed reading about the ongoing work for Project Coaches for Euro Truck Simulator 2. If you're excited to get behind the wheel of a coach, be sure to add this upcoming module to your Steam Wishlist. We look forward to sharing more news with you about this addition as development continues. Until next time, safe travels!

Project Benelux Rework: Brussels

We have some more content to show our #BestCommunityEver from the upcoming Benelux Rework project for Euro Truck Simulator 2! Our map designers are currently working on revamping Brussels, the capital city of Belgium, and that is where we are heading today.

Brussels, nestled in the heart of Belgium along the Senne River, is often called the "capital of Europe" thanks to its role as home to the European Union and many other international institutions. But beyond politics, the city charms visitors with its blend of history, culture, and architecture. Medieval squares sit beside Art Nouveau gems, while cafés and Michelin-starred restaurants make it a paradise for food lovers.

The main part of Brussels coming to life in the Benelux Rework project is the city ring, with its complex junctions at the heart of this network. It links the industrial zones of the Forest and Anderlecht municipalities - home to a car factory, a chemical plant, and a logistics center - all of which will rely on your services to keep goods moving efficiently. You will also get a peek at the Schaerbeek municipality, where your deliveries will support an ongoing construction site.

From the ring road, several of Brussels' distinctive landmarks come into view. These include the world-famous Atomium, the Brussels Expo exhibition halls, and the cooling tower of the Centrale électrique de Drogenbos, illuminated at night with playful LED lights - all defining the city's unique skyline.

In the Schaerbeek municipality, you can spot beautifully recreated landmarks such as the Media complex of Mediapark with its modern Frame media center building, and the Tour Reyers telecommunications tower.

"We believe that we captured the capital of Europe much more accurately with our focus on logistics and truck deliveries," says Honza, the lead of the Benelux Rework project.

Hopefully, you enjoyed this preview of Belgium's capital, but please keep in mind that this project is still a work in progress. Until next time, be sure to keep up to date with the latest updates by following us on X/TwitterFacebookBlueSkyYouTube, and Instagram, and by subscribing to our newsletter! We wish you safe travels.
