Community Spotlight: Nordic Horizons DLC

Since the release of Nordic Horizons for Euro Truck Simulator 2, we’ve been overwhelmed with screenshots, videos, comments and reviews all shared by you, our #BestCommunityEver. From scenic fjord drives to hauls under the aurora, it’s been fantastic to see how much you’ve all been enjoying your journeys across the far north in our newest DLC.

Our team truly enjoys seeing them all and reading your positive reactions as well as constructive criticism. As with previous map expansion releases, we’re excited to share some of the content and reviews found across the internet.

Want to share your comments or content with us? The best way to do so is by tagging us on X, BlueSky, Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok, or by sharing your impressions on our official SCS Forum. We’d like to extend our thanks to everyone who has already shared their reviews, screenshots, and more with us, and we look forward to seeing more!

We’ve also received a wave of positive reviews on the Nordic Horizons Steam store page. Reading your kind comments genuinely makes our day and inspires us to continue pushing forward with exciting new content and projects.

We also couldn't ignore the fact that with the release of Nordic Horizons, and our Forest Machinery DLC, we surpassed our all-time concurrent player record on Steam. 72,678 of you were trucking at the same time in Euro Truck Simulator 2, how awesome is that?! We cannot thank you all enough for your support, and we're so happy you've enjoyed this DLC so far.

If you’ve been #CruisingNordicHorizons, we’d really appreciate it if you could leave a review on Steam. Your feedback not only supports our work but also helps guide future development. A huge thank you to everyone who has already shared their thoughts, whether through praise or constructive criticism.

We also reached out to a number of our amazing content creators from around the community to hear their impressions of Nordic Horizons, and you can find some of their thoughts below! We’re incredibly grateful for their feedback and the time they put into creating content around our games. Be sure to visit their channels and give them a follow to support their work.

"I’ve been eagerly waiting for the Nordic Horizons DLC, and I’m happy to say it absolutely delivers. As a Swede, it’s an amazing experience to drive through roads I’ve travelled countless times in real life - and the attention to detail is incredible. There’s still a lot left for me to explore, but everywhere I’ve been so far has been packed with beautiful viewpoints, well-crafted landmarks, and scenery that feels authentic. One of my favourite surprises was being able to actually drive down into the Kiruna mine - such a unique addition! The landscapes in northern Norway are breathtaking as well. The developers captured the dramatic mountains and coastal views perfectly. Nordic Horizons is an outstanding DLC! I love it!!"

"Simply put, the Nordic Horizons DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2 does not disappoint! SCS Software has once again raised the bar by recreating the natural beauty, landmarks, and logistic networks of the region with exceptional accuracy. I had the pleasure of exploring the Nordic Horizons DLC during its early access phase, logging hundreds of kilometres across Norway, Sweden, and Finland - experiencing the incredible level of detail firsthand. After completing additional deliveries post-release, I can confidently say that Nordic Horizons is my favourite map expansion to date for ETS2, and I've only scratched the surface of what the DLC offers! I look forward to exploring the Nordic Horizons DLC further, and the future of ETS2 is looking very bright!"

"When you see breathtaking and spectacular in the same sentence that pertains to Euro Truck Simulator 2, it can only mean one thing; it must be referring to the Nordic Horizons DLC. It delivers a massive expansion across northern Norway, Sweden, and Finland with meticulously recreated cities, scenic towns, and depots that seamlessly blend with the refreshed Scandinavia map.

As a resident of Sweden, I was in awe at the level of detail put into landmarks and unique structures that make cities easily recognizable. Featuring fjords, Arctic coastlines, Northern Lights, winding roads, iconic landmarks like the Arctic Cathedral, and unique industries such as the underground mines in Kiruna, it has inspired me to take that final step into planning an actual road trip through the real-life counterpart to the Nordic Horizons region. Something that I have had on my bucket list for a few years now.

My hats off to SCS Software and the team responsible for creating such a masterpiece that myself and thousands of others can explore and enjoy for years to come!"

"Even all the way up near Honningsvåg, I was blown away by how different everything looks compared to the rest of the ETS2 map, the small coastal homes, the tight mountain passes, the fishing boats, the docks, all of it feels handcrafted. Nothing here feels recycled. As someone who films a ton of trucking content, this DLC had me spinning my head nonstop because every few minutes the world completely changes. One moment it's a wide tundra, the next it’s a tiny village squeezed between cliffs, and then suddenly you’re staring at a lake so clear it looks unreal. Nordic Horizons feels fresh, alive, and full of surprises. Huge thanks to SCS Software for letting me dive into it early, they absolutely nailed this one!"

We’d like to take a moment to express how amazed we are by the incredible efforts of our community in the #CruisingNordicHorizons World of Trucks Event. The community goal was to drive 300,000,000 km while delivering cargo to or from any city in the Nordic Horizons, a milestone you achieved in under two weeks. Wow! For those with a busy schedule over the holiday season, don’t worry, you still have until February 1st, 2026, at 23:59 UTC to complete your personal goals. You can read the full event rules in our dedicated blog post.

To wrap things up, we want to thank you once again for your unwavering support, kind reviews, and constructive comments. Our developers continually work hard to deliver great content, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see it reflected in your positive feedback. Thank you all so much!

"SCS has done it once again! I really enjoyed the contrast of driving through small, remote towns and larger, bustling cities. It made the whole state feel alive and diverse. Trucking along peaceful country roads and then jumping onto major interstates like I-80 was super fun. Of course, one of the first places I had to check out was the largest truck stop, and SCS didn’t disappoint; it is HUGE! The new and unique industries are fantastic. Plus, there are so many small and big landmarks across the map. The attention to detail is absolutely incredible."

DaSimSimma

"I’ve always dreamed of visiting the world’s largest truck stop, but never thought a game would get me there first. The Iowa DLC surprised me with how personal it felt—pulling off at the biggest truck stop in the game and just soaking it in was one of those moments that remind you why ATS is so special. It’s more than a game—it’s a way to explore the country in ways you didn’t think were possible." - DaSimSimma

Arrow's Realm

"The Iowa DLC for American Truck Simulator is another stellar addition to the game’s line-up of expansions. As a detail enthusiast, I began my journey in Des Moines, where I spent over an hour marveling at the meticulously crafted cityscape. From iconic buildings and monuments to the vibrant flowers that brighten the surroundings, the attention to detail is impressive. Eager to explore further, I set out across the state, driving from city to city and uncovering real-world landmarks beautifully recreated by the development team. Kudos to SCS Software for making Iowa—a relatively flat state—visually engaging and far from monotonous. Even after hours of gameplay, I’m still soaking up new details like a sponge, though I’ve yet to spot that elusive Amish horse and cart. If you’re seeking hours of immersive exploration and fun, the Iowa DLC is a must-have. SCS Software continues to raise the bar with their commitment to realism and technical excellence. I’m already excited for what they’ll deliver next." - Arrow's Realm

"DLC after DLC, the quality standards always increase. Iowa DLC's small details are outstanding. I am not familiar with the United States since I am from Europe, but when driving in American Truck Simulator, I can really feel the vibe of what it would be like in real life. Congratulations to everyone involved in the development of the DLC."  - kworey

Road Trip: Call for Community Help

Two weeks ago, we announced that we have assembled a special team that is now working on the Road Trip project for American Truck Simulator. Now, we would like to ask our community for some help to bring this project to life.

How can you help? If you have access to any of the vehicles listed below and would be willing to let us record sounds with them, we would truly appreciate your support!

We understand that these cars are cherished by their owners, and they may feel hesitant about letting someone else handle them. But don't worry, as we treat every vehicle with care and respect. All we do is attach a few small microphones, take the car for a short drive, and record sounds like the engine at different RPMs, the gearbox, the exhaust, etc.

We'll only use one microphone near the exhaust, which will be attached with duct tape that won't damage the paint. The other mics will go inside the engine bay and the cabin. Also, to record these sounds as close as possible to how the car left the factory, we need them the cars to be unmodified.

Project Sim Racing

"One thing I truly appreciate about SCS Software is the genuine passion and attention to detail they pour into each new DLC. The Missouri DLC for ATS takes things to another level, with stunning landscapes, fascinating landmarks like the Gateway Arch and Bagnell Dam, and especially the innovative underground warehouses that bring a unique challenge. I'm a big fan of heavy-haul trucking, so the updates to both the Special Transport and Heavy Cargo DLCs were a fantastic surprise. I can't wait to haul more oversized cargo through the Show Me State. Great job, SCS! this DLC is another masterpiece!" - Project Sim Racing

Raptor

"Just simply remarkable. Yet again SCS Software has delivered an innovative DLC with Missouri for American Truck Simulator! With this most recent DLC, the most anticipated addition included, with a whole new state to explore, is something not even visible in scale from a birds eye view with the introduction of underground storage facilities. These cargo and freight storage places are truly massive such as a rail yard or shipping port on a gigantic scale. And, the best part is they are like a labyrinth that once you reach the destination, you then need to proceed to the proper color coded zone and offload your cargo in a seemingly deep environment which does require the reading of signs to navigate that do function as more than just decoration.

With major cities given the detail you would expect, such as St. Louis and the monument of The Gateway Arch. And with more rural areas and smaller towns kept just as interesting with various landscapes and nature to enjoy on more local state roads that adhere to the terrain and grab your fullattention is just simply outstanding. To continue to see each DLC attempt to introduce new features and ideas gives so much to be excited for in coming updates and DLCs as well. Looking forward to what they deliver and announce next!" -

"The map team at SCS absolutely crushes it again. The best part about broadcasting Missouri live was the comments I received during the streams that say "I live near there!" and "That road / town / building looks just like that!" The people that live in this state say it all. They are absolutely blown away by the details of their home state. It is such a good feeling seeing people excited and even in awe of how accurate the new map is! The most impressive skyline I have seen in this DLC (if not the whole game) is St. Louis. There is nothing like pulling up to the arch and seeing the beautiful city skyline in the background. Thanks for another fun adventure for American Truck Simulator!" - RyaStream

Armstrong Gaming

"I like to keep things simple, so here’s my honest take: the Missouri DLC for American Truck Simulator is seriously solid. It’s modern, clean, and feels really up to date. The underground caves? Easily the highlight for me. They’re not just cool to look at, they’re actually created very well and fun to drive through. The lighting in there is something else. Driving in and watching everything go dark, then coming back out into the daylight, it just feels great!

The roads are smooth, the greenery and shrubbery look lush, and overall it’s just a gorgeous DLC. I’d call it “bonny” if you don’t mind a bit of regional slang, it’s got a lot of charm and character. Whilst it’s not the biggest state, it is packed with detail. There’s a real sense of depth, like every part of it has been crafted with care. You don’t get that “empty space” feeling some other maps can have, this one feels dense in all the right ways As for value? it’s a great deal. We’ve been driving it all week and honestly, we’ve loved every second.

If you’re thinking about picking it up, do it. Missouri’s a brilliant addition to the ATS world, and it’s absolutely worth the drive.
" - Mark Armstrong Gaming

CaptainC0N

"Missouri really surprised me in the best way possible. I knew it’d be cool, but man, the level of detail in this DLC is wild! From rolling through the Ozarks to weaving around the massive highway systems in Kansas City, it just feels right. One thing that totally blew me away was the underground warehouse system—it’s something totally different, and navigating it in a big rig is just awesome. The scenery shifts are super smooth too—you go from riverfront industry to farmland in no time, and it all looks incredible. I also loved seeing some of the small towns that give the state real character. This is one of those DLCs that makes you want to take the long route every time. If you haven’t hit the roads in Missouri yet, you’re seriously missing out!" - CaptainC0N

To wrap things up, we want to thank you once again for your unwavering support, kind reviews, and constructive comments. Our developers continually work hard to deliver great content, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see it reflected in your positive feedback. Thank you all so much!

"The Nebraska DLC is the latest addition to the American Truck Simulator map, and it does not disappoint! I had the absolute pleasure of experiencing Nebraska during its early access phase, and logging hundreds of miles post release - exploring “The Cornhusker State” from east to west and everything in between. SCS Software has raised the bar on quality once again by recreating the natural beauty, landmarks, and logistic networks of the state to an exceptional level. Although the Nebraska DLC has many great attributes, a highlight feature for me is the brand new Dynamic Loading/Unloading feature! Simply put… It’s game changing! From Omaha to Scottsbluff, the Nebraska DLC offers something for every ATS player." - Prime Simulations

Duude

"The Nebraska DLC is a brilliant addition to American Truck Simulator, Time after time SCS Software releases a DLC which gets better and better. They have once again done a fantastic job with this  DLC which I know loads of ATS players are truly enjoying. Hitting the roads and exploring the many highly detailed cities which this great DLC has to offer brings a massive amount of immersion and realism, I am really enjoying exploring Nebraska, Brings a great amount of fun with exploring amazing scenery along the way. I thank SCS Software for their truly fantastic work which they have done with the Nebraska DLC and all of the work they have created in the past. I look forward to seeing what they have planned for the future!" - Duude

My Over-The-Road Trucking Adventure

As a former over-the-road truck driver, I have spent countless miles driving across Nebraska on Interstate Highway 80 as I traversed the country. I have also spent a great deal of time picking up and delivering loads in Grand Island, so I was amazed to see the accurate recreation of the area, including the main truck stop there; seeing the tank and caboose on display at the entrance really took me back! Thank you to SCS for allowing me to relive my adventures across Nebraska; you've done it again! - My Over-The-Road Trucking Adventure

Nightmare_Se

"Once again SCS has shown just what its team is capable of with the latest Nebraska release... Going into this DLC my expectations were drive through a state with not a lot of character so to say. I must say that I was completely proven wrong. The sights in Nebraska shift from the more natural landscapes like seen in previous DLC's to more historical landmarks, places of interest and small towns with cultural importance. After a week of exploring Nebraska, I feel like I have not only gotten more terrific content to explore in American Truck Simulator but also a lesson in its history. Not everything is marked on the map as a photo trophy or viewpoint either which I soon found out after entering Nebraska for the first time. So, keep your head on a swivel while exploring this wonderful DLC because you never know just what you will find out there. The challenge is finding the challenge." -Nightmare_Se

We are excited to have you on the roads of Nebraska! Keep sharing your adventures with us by using #CruisingNebraska on social media and follow us for all the latest news. Until then, keep on truckin'!
