Back from rainy Nürburgring

We have spent a couple of inspiring days in Germany, unfortunately the weather at Nürburgring was mostly rainy and quite cold given that it supposed to be the Summer.

It was great to see the races (and the success of Czech drivers in the main events), the parade loop with dozens of trucks with cool paintjobs and the Ameican trucks was cool, too, but it was even cooler seeing the constant stream of visitors pouring into rondomedia's stand to check out our games. Quite a lot of them were walking away with a freshly purchased game. The idea that the event can help new customers discover truck simulation games has really worked.

We have even shown a few bits of an early playable build of Euro Truck Simulator 2 during press events - the game should get coverage in trucking as well as gaming magazines thanks to our meetings with journalists.

However the speculation in the comments of the previous posts that the game is pretty much done are far from the truth. We are yet to properly start the beta testing, and our database of bugs already contains hundreds of issues to address, with more coming daily than we are able to fix. We are really trying to finish work on the game as soon as possible - and our publishing partners are pushing us as hard as they can, too. Please have patience with us - all we want to do is to give you a finished and polished game!

  7. I have plenty of patience to wait until the game is done, please take your time as the old saying goes if it worth it its worth waiting for.

Thank you for keeping us informed about the progress regarding the games current status, we are all excited about the game.

  8. God, I wish publishers could just learn to stop interfering with development, they've ruined so many games, and in the end they just lose more money than they could have potentially made by letting developers do their jobs!!

Course since no one can go to alternate futures and 'prove' to them that this is what they're doing, they'll just happily keep on going. :/

Good luck SCS, hope it all works out. :)

    1. I think you are the minority, I dont think SCS would ever release a game that they are not happy with, but if they did that they would lost fans of their games, who prefer to wait to get the least amount of bugs in the game, plus SCS would only suffer alot of abuse on gaming forums for knowingly releasing a game that is not finished and is buggy.

      Delete
    2. WTF is wrong with you, why do you even want a game thats unfinished. If they release it now then SCS gets a bad name and they can go bankrupt. or do you like rushed and half made games like COD or rig 'n' roll

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It is standard practice to keep a log of bugs etc, or you would never know/remember what to fix! Some companies have the logs/trackers public, so even after the game is out bugs can be tracked/reported/etc.

      Delete
    2. Ofcourse every company makes a log, but showing it to the public isn't that common for the bigger companies, so I respect that they show it and letting us know what they still need to fix before the game is even released.

      Delete
    3. that is why i said "Some companies have the logs/trackers public" ;)

  15. Looking at the log, it looks like youve added a 90km/h speed limiter feature to the game. This is great news SCS, as this is a fundamental feature of nearly all European trucks! Thankyou!

  17. Thank you SCS, It is absolute not normal to keep customers updated as much as you do. You are simply the best. I still enjoy STDS and looking forward to ETS2. I'm sorry for the

  20. Nice to see they are getting inspired and working XD Actually, I've noticed other stuff that is might be wrong. Lol. First - I got fined because of breaking 90 km\h limit, even though I can't, this thing is in the bug list up there but it says "closed". What does that mean?
Second - cars were driving to fast in the bends, that looked unnatural.
Third - car didn't stop on the red light. If it's meant to be so, alright, but it could easily stop and the red was on for the long time, so it probably is not right XD.
    Fourth - driven through fence - http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/24/stds00022.png/
Fifth - got a tank on the gas station. It said, I had to drive from East G.A.S to East GASON (might be the other way round). Actually, I even wasn't supposed to drive anywhere, because that "other" company was the parking space next to the one, i've picked the trailer on XD http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/715/stds00023.png/

    1. about your problem with 90 km/h. trucks are only allowed to drive 80 in europe so if you go past one of the radar controls you get fined

      Delete
    2. Yeh but there's a sign with 90km/h and when I pass with 87 or 88km/h I don't get fined .. seems not right..

      Delete
    3. you only get fined when you drive trough those speed radars on those roads

      Delete
    4. Ye .. the same as I explained .. going trough them with 85+ and gives nothing.. but when I'm at 90km/h it gives me Seeding ticket XD

      Delete
    5. Actually, you'll get a correction on your speed of 5 kmh or something... That means giving a speeding ticket for going just 10 kph (-5 kph correction =5kph over the speed limit) is just ridiculous...
If that doesn't sound logic then... Well...
What I mean is, that going 90kph without getting a speeding ticket would be reasonable, because getting a fine for not driving exactly 80kph is pretty retarded, imagine driving 81kph in game and getting a speeding ticket... That would kinda suck in my opinion.

    6. Your forth one will just be the difference between the visual modal of the crash barrier described with more polygons so it doesn’t look very faceted vs. the unseen collision modal which will be described with far fewer polygons so will have flat Facets that will cut slightly inside the radius of the visual modal at some points.

Think describing a 90deg arc e.g. with 30+ facets with the former vs. just 5 to 10 facets with the latter.

    7. Michael, the maximum speed (national speed limits) for trucks on motorways in Europe ranges from 60kph to 96.56kph (60mph), so e.g. the imposition of the 90kph speed limiters via EU directive means in some country’s you could exceed the speed limit by 30kph or in others like the UK you end up being 6.56kph slower than the speed limit, which if you live/work in the UK and spend lots of time traversing the motorway network means you lose thousands of KM per year for the time you have spent driving which is lost revenue and extra time wasted.

  25. SCS has a small bug in Scania Truck Driving Simulator for the management of truck steering wheel without moving that play the game the wheel is moving very quickly and so well when I drive it and stray from the path.

    1. I think DAF will be DAV and Iveco Ivedo, that's because (as fat as I know) SCS doesn't have licenses for those trucks.
But don't worry, the DAV and Ivedo will probably look a lot like the real trucks, but with different logo's! :)
Not to mention that a very small mod can fix that. :P

SCS, we know that this is the final stage of your game, and it is early to ask question about your new project. I have and idea that help you and make us happy too, like creating an election of what is you next project. This is the list:
    1- European truck simulator
    2- American truck simulator
3- hybrid truck simulator (like hard truck 2)
    4- one of your choice
I know the list could be bigger but it is enough for now, and if anyone have an idea add it. please make this official if you feel it is good for you and us.

    2. Making FranceTS or SpainTS is pointless. They have made GTS because german publisher wanted this game and paid for it. Let's hope they will make expansions for ETS2 with Scandinavian, Iberian or Balkan regions. I hope next will be American Truck Simulator and then ETS3. No more Extreme Trucker or Truck & Trailers type games because it's waste of time in my opinion.

      Delete
    3. I think you are right for SpainTS but not for FranceTS.
SCS made GTS and UKTS because these countries are big and rich(in my opinion). France is big and rich too so i think that they will probably make a game with France too. Now for the "pointless" Spain as all the south countries are poor if you know what i mean, so it will be difficult for the customers of these countries to pay the game(Spanish,Greeks,Italians....).

      Mitsos from Greece.

      Delete
    4. No matter if the country is rich or poor. If someone want to buy the game he will buy it eventually. Making game only for one country is still pointless. It won't bring anything new to the game. UKTS was copy of GTS with different roads. It's better to invest the time and money to make a new game and take a step forward. Look how Gran Turismo was improved from 1 to 5. Let's hope SCS will make same progress. I think SCS should focus on two-three titles (Euro Truck Sim, American Truck Sim and maybe Bus Sim) and make them better and better.

  30. Hy Scs. I'm very proud of your hard work that you put to make this awesome game. Take all the time you need to make the best truck game.
About make some extra money, what do you think about make a game on Android and Ios? This platforms represent a good market. I think that you can make an old game, like Bus Simulator, to work on this populars platform. I think that it's a good idea because these platform are very popular.

it's meant to be played as real as possible no touch screen! STEERING WHEEL! i hate everybody going into the damn "lets make this thing mobile" hype.

SCS team is doing great by sticking with the best, most flexible and limitless platform. Wasting marketing money on investing in the mobile market isn't worth it especially not for a DRIVING simulator. That is more of a need for speed arcade games area.

  32. I have a proposal for the euro truck simulator 2 : first do more traffic cars can be done accident police posts add buses in the traffic for example, in previous versions of the game when overtaking and rebuilding the machinery of the traffic slowed down as if it's an emergency I hope you are correct, even tractors of the type of traffic very quickly dispersed from the place it looks unlikely to make the track more diverse the hang of traffic lights on the highway add weighing signs, repair of roads, you can do so that the trucks drove each other for example, if they work in the same company, you can make the radio, it sometimes happens that the road some time actually empty on the big highway so never happen in real life, to make a Parking lot for truckers not only at gas stations but the paid стоянку.мало noise on large шоссе. and in General make the flight with at least one truck driver and see what is not дастоет in the game

    1. You'd better learn the english and stop translating from russian by google XD

      Delete
    2. Actually, google translate is only a valid option if you KNOW the language you're translating TO...not the other way around. So you should just state that you'd like someone that knows English to translate using google...the outcome should be alot closer.

as for your questions, from what I can get. Signalling while passing other vehicles in STDS doesn't make them hit the breaks anymore, assuming it'll be the same in ETS2. And I think they have reststops in ETS2, so you won't be limited to just gas stations, least I saw a few on some of the pics they've shown us.

Roadwork suggestion is nice too, but maybe they'll have it in there somewhere, if STDS is any indication, just don't expect it to be placed at random locations, doubt they're there yet, but one can always hope!

As for CB radio, unless they're ready to put in 100's of hours of voice acting, and very complex software to make it all seem realistic, I wouldn't want it ingame, it'd be repetitive and annoying in end.

      Delete
    3. I still put all the GTA radio stations WITH commentary and interviews in any driving game that allows custom music I know it's very repetitive but if you ad lots more music into the mix you'll barely get the same things twice. i got em of all GTA versions so its a crazy amount of content to listen to.

Any way the rest on ets2 is very good. Keep it up scs.
