Graphically this is going to be one hell of a game. I'm still worried about the level restriction on purchasing upgrades and visuals though. It's not going to kill the game, but it'll make it a million times less immersive than it could and should be, for a 'simulator'. I really want to be able to save up cash to buy everything I got my eyes on, not grind levels to get it. Guess I don't really like being forced into a path, ie: you're now level 20, you SHOULD be driving this or that truck now, we just 'happened' to lift your restrictions.
As always though, you guys are lifting my spirits and my hopes of at least finally seeing games worth buying. :)
PS: Did buy GTS and STDS (best purchases I've done in years).
1. The video is lagging in this video, not the game. 2. I have to say, the moon is too big. 3. Yeah, but it should be changed I think. 4. You mean bright? This can be turned much dimmer in the options menu.
Finaly SCS, this is a great video, a great news, thank YOU! I belive this is the first video showing the final stage of the game, this looks like ziland said 'mind blowing'.
That was an excellent visual treat. The variety of sceneries is nice to see. Hope some of this music makes it to the game. Some of this soft new age music would be awesome for calm night driving.
One small nitpick - 0:35 trees swaying looks too synchronized, making it unrealistic.
Would like to see videos with some truck sounds as well, and a few real game scenarios - at traffic lights, highway convoys, overtaking (truck vs truck), accidents/damages.
Good Job SCS. Congratulations x1000. Official release date ? I can't wait more time :D. I love this game, I love this job - driver, container and machine's container. Felicitationes.
Well done! But I thought of that when, for example driving from a German town and we know that the city is a nice, nice and tidy town - to a town in France for example - the city is not so specially nice, the roads are so untidy, so it would be cool if you came along with a significant load in a disturbed way, which can contain a maximum vehicle at a time, then hold down the closer eye on people or animals do not go over the road, while controlling Mon to avoid holes and dents in way - it would be fun, exciting and koncentrende challenge. It's just my suggestion that I made. It seemed I just had to join.
Sorry for my english I hope to you can understand that I just has written.
why, all their games work fine for me. A game developer can only do a little bit about this but the rest depends on the player and in your case your computer can't handle their games
I wouldn't defend it 'just yet' Michael. The scenery on that vid did worry me a little, if the rig they used to make this vid is insufficient to make a non'hacky vid, what does that mean for mine uh?
You have to remember, ETS2 is a totally different beast than STDS, alot more stuff to keep in memory.
All I'm saying is, don't overestimate your rigs ability to eat it all up, no matter how unoptimized it'll be.
If you read on the 1.2.0 patch from STDS, they said that they progresed a lot with theyer engine, and this is applying to ETS 2 too, all the progress of the STDS will be in ETS 2, included the STDS optimization. This means ETS 2 will be more like STDS with 1.20 patch, a smooth game. That lagging may be from the player that they recorded, afterburner or fraps is lagging the game when you are recording OR they set a low value of fps to register the video, maybe the video is set at 25-30 fps and thats why its lagging.
I have not had any problems with the graphics. STDS game with maximum graphics in Full HD (1080p). My work computer is not the best. My computer is AMD 90%. Even though the best video cards are NVidia, buy better equipment is not yet part of my financial budget. Without doubt, the optimization of the graphics engine is the main result for this to be possible.
Motherboard: ASUS M5A 78l-m lx Processor: AMD FX-4100 Quad Core Processor 3.60GHz Ram: 8 GB Video Card: AMD Radeon HD6870 1GB GDDR5 256-bit Dual Fan
I think you should download the Scania Truck Simulator Demo - it's the same engine. You'll find (I did at least) that the graphics quality has increased without any noticeable performance drop. So maybe the question about them optimizing their engine is irrelevant - It looks like they've already been on the case =)
Is not possible, stop saying that the game runs perfect because is not true. This graphic engine in shitty optimized and you CAN'T get 50fps on 400% scaling with a GTX 560Ti. SCS must optimize the fcking engine.
I have GTS 450 and 100% is playable but games looks like shit with distorted objects, grainy shadows, overwhelming blur and anti-aliasing is a joke. I guess on 400% game looks better, but most of the people don't have i5 or i7...
I repeat...NOT possible...and stop saying that the game runs well because then SCS will think like "oh ok our game runs good so we don't need to optimize it"...
@ChrisCross: You implied you weren't sure about your GPU at first...now you are? Cuz I'd believe you'd run this smoothly if you said GTX 580...but not 560...I got 570 SE and it runs at what? 20 fps at 400% with max everything vsync off.
My rig is pretty optimized for gaming btw, separate HD for pagefyling, cleaned up services and any autobackup in windows turned off, no indexing...took me alot of work to fine tune it to where it's at atm. So ya, 580 is what you MUST have.
K just made sure with fraps, I get between 25-35 at 400% all max no vsync. but at full stop it goes to 45fps. Still no 50 though...at 200% I get it to 50 stable.
@ChrisCross: Ooops, sorry man, just checked your original post again. And your cpu is a monster compared to mine, I got a mid to low range i5. Boy, that game is much more cpu intensive than I previously thought, come to think of it, my gpu doesn't even spin up at all...so ya, apologies for calling you on this. Hope this'll help everyone else understand though, cpu trumps gpu with this game, by far.
and stil AnonymousJuly 12, 2012 7:58 PM for me it runs great!!!
and no SCS don´t check only my thinking of the game engine (I hope)... If there are a lot of fans who have problems, they don´t say that only man (me) hasn´t any problems so we don´t work on it!!!
It’s probably youtube causing the pausing/shuttering/jumps when they converted the uploaded video, it took me 3 years to figure out that your best off ignoring the mp4 etc format & the AVI container format youtube recommend and to use the older format mpeg2 (mp2) at 29.970fps with no P frames and short closed GOP’s using 2 pass VBR, as after youtube converts that its silky smooth and exactly like was uploaded!
This looks truly epic. Good job. Really looking forward to the game. But somehow I fear the keyboard steering controls. I really hope you guys are looking into this, it'd be a shame if I can't play this game just because I have troubles steering my truck, like in the Scania game :(
Not getting this, I think STDS's keyboard steering is a BIG step up from GTS. Maybe you're simply having problems running the game smoothly? Can't imagine what the problem is otherwise.
The problem is that the steer doesn't automatically go back to neutral/straight when the arrow keys are released, like in all the other driving/racing games out there. I realize STDS's steering is way more realistic and professionals love it, but I'm not a pro, and prefer an arcade-style steering.
It's got nothing to do with the game not running smoothly, but it's just because I need to move my truck forward/backwards to let the steer return to neutral/straight (like in reality).
I'm just an arcade gamer, playing STDS/ETS/GTS as game, not as a simulator :)
Okay, but...but...but it's a....hmmm....simulator! Cmon man, this is clearly not the right game type for you.
I'm not saying that to be mean or anger you in any way. I just think that you might want to accept that not all games are meant to be played by everyone. Realism is key in simulators, with an ounce of common sense though, who has time to drive the full 100% scaled distances.
But if at all possible, I'll support your opinion, and would like to ask that the SCS team adds an option to have the steering wheel automatically return to neutral. But only if it's optional.
"Okay, but...but...but it's a....hmmm....simulator! Cmon man, this is clearly not the right game type for you." ETS1 was the right game for me, why wouldn't ETS2 be? :P I can understand if they want to enforce realistic steering in STDS, which seems all about truck control, but not in ETS2, which is about making deliveries, planning routes and building your company. It'd be a shame if the arcade-gamer would be alienated :P (especially by something as small as this)
"But only if it's optional." An option is all I'm asking for. It'd be a shame if they're gonna replace this realistic steering. :P
"Then you should use the mouse with keyboard instead of just the keyboard." Could try, but I doubt this would really ease things up. Note that during parking, I usually use the top-view camera, and it's hard to see the direction of the steer/wheels from that point of view. In ETS1/GTS I was relying on the fact that my truck would drive in a straight line once the arrow keys were released. Even steering with the mouse wouldn't auto-straight, so I doubt it's making steering any more arcade-style :P
"you can set the steering sensitivity to max, it affect keyboard also. " Indeed, set them both to 100% and it's better, but still not good. I still need to drive forward/backward to get the steer to neutral/straight. :P
For the mouse thing, on that top camera view, I think you might get a UI thingy that shows you a ball and a half circle, helps you see your steering angle. Maybe that'll work for you? Anyway, that was in GTS, dunno if they still have that UI element in STDS.
Of course it will lag like hell... you can already see lags in the video... unfortunately this game is too much focused on graphics (interior textures are shitty) not on the simulation and optimization... FSX and OMSI are not so shiny but they are awesome and real simulators. In this game you can't even open windows or doors, you can't turn on incab light when it's dark, you can't attach wires to the trailer. Adjustable mirros and truck customization are not enough to make this game simulator. This game need new feature not candy graphics.
Shiny? you mean bloom? Sure it looks like a greasy camera lens, but I always thought it made games look and feel warmer, as oposed to cold and hard without that effect. I personally like it. Plus, you can normally turn off bloom.
I know and this will be the first thing I do - turn off HDR. I find it funny how 90% off people here says this game looks beautiful, fantastic, lovely but when they gonna play it they will complain about how this game is not running smoothly for them.
One more thing why this game won't be a good simulator. In FSX, OMSI and RailWorks you can zoom camera inside cab/cockpit and use most of the buttons and switches with mouse cursor! This is the 'must be' in simulators.
Ok, but FSX have game modes with different level of experience for new players, experienced players and real pilots. Why ETS2 can't have atleast 2 modes for arcade players (50/50% like you said) and real simulator fanatics (20/80%)? I know 100% simulator is impossible to make, but this game is not for kids. Maybe in ETS3?
To be perfectly honest, I do agree with you CETS. When I first played ETS I felt that they really pushed the gfx part a bit too much, same for GTS. I would prefer if they focused more on gameplay elements, to enhance the experience.
But, after playing STDS, I got really taken in by that insane focus on gfx, I felt like, damn, I like this alot, this feels alot more comfortable and awe inspiring.
Now, granted, if they had worked more on refining the controls on GTS and added all the effort put into that increased gfx into gameplay, I think it's possible I'd be far more satisfied, but maybe less awed? dunno...
I'd like to have it both ways, but if I have to chose, I'd chose gameplay over gfx. But many ppl won't, and then the company would go under, and I certainly don't want that. Games are still mainly sold through screenshots and videos, maybe mainstream consumers will one day demand more?
Until game makers make money through ppl playing their games (you play one hour, that much cash is deducted from your account and such, up to a cap to unlock the game) then they won't care as much if you play it a long time, they'll still be more interest in 'tricking' you into buying it.
When I first time played ETS I wasn't big trucking fun and not very familiar with simulator. After this I'm very interested in all kind simulators. I like trucks, trains, planes, even farming. I'm here not to complain but show you what we lose. I can't wait for ETS2 like other fans but it's disappointing when SCS don't use the potencial of simulator games. How complicated it would be for player to open window or connect wires to the trailer? Those are details, small things we love. SCS is focused on the graphics but not on the things that make trucking so special.
- CETS You touched on an interesting subject. And this is a great theme for commenting. I agree with you, but it is one step at a time. SCS can not be compared with large game companies that invest millions of dollars from developers in developing games, so I think you know it, SCS can not invest without her make sure you get the same return. So everything happens according to expectations. Also, I believe that the SCS team is not very large. I do not know if the SCS is to continue with projects ETS3, but I believe that whatever their plans for the future, it will always continue to surprise us.
Team SCS Software for the purpose princiapal is not just running against time, the effort to please us as much as possible within your budget is also a major concern for the launch of ETS2 can absorb a significant return, and thus continue investing and improving the simulator to the delight of fans of trucks. For us, beyond our opinions, we can only have patience and support as much as we think necessary.
My English is not very good. I'm still in the early English classes, if you understand some strange meaning, please ignore.
Anyone who follows this blog knows that SCS is a small company. I don't except miracles from them. I'm just saying that candy graphics won't make ETS2 fresh and more interesting than first ETS. Why? Because we have the same simple scheme. You have a truck, drive to a company, take a trailer, drive with trailer to destination, leave trailer and that's it. We all know this. Some people still plays ETS or GTS, but for me it was too boring after few months (in case ETS) and few weeks (in case GTS). I'll write this again, this game could be more interesting if we could feel like a real driver with his duties. In real life you won't take trailer without connecting the wires. In game we sit all the time inside the truck so electric windows, in cab light, zooming camera would be a great additions. Things like dashboard navigation, adjustable mirrors are great new features and let's hope that SCS won't stop with those cool things.
You know what will really make the game real? Not all those buttons, but rather realistic physics. In GTS you can't feel the weight of the truck, nor the trailer. You can enter in a curve with 80 mph and even that speed is not realistic for a truck. Also, the cab hardly moved and even in STDS when you apply full brakes, the cab moved, but only slightly. Look what really happens when you apply full brakes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSQSueFrxzI and also here www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lkQWXnG3bw&feature=related to see how the cab really moves. These are the things that miss out of the game. Not to mention sounds when changing gear, applying breaks or raising or lowering the suspension and others you have suggested.
I think you'll be the first to whine when you have to reverse through 5km of small roads with that thing when you realize you can't pass under that bridge or through that small town with it...
@Ziland: Maybe he will be the first to whine, but driving double trailers is a wonderful experience, at least for me and for @anonymous ^up there, so it would be a nice addition to the game, confirmed by some earlier in-game screenshots.
As for the video, the city looks very nice and clean and gives an overall impression of a populated urban area. Too bad that there are no pedestrians..
@Ziland: Well, as I can see from the video, it looks like the pedestrians are placed where you can't drive with the truck. This is a good thing, I am glad that at least there there are pedestrians. However, I would really like seeing them along the streets you can drive and cross the street when the lights are red. But if that is not possible, I am happy with just them being where I cannot drive with the truck.
Oh and I agree with Anonymous too: if double-trailers will be implemented in the game, I would like the AI to drive them as well.
@Anonymous: Because this is an European Truck Simulator and europeans don't usually drive doubles, let alone road trains. And seriously, you won't buy the game because it won't have doubles? That's wrong thinking. You should buy it anyway because I am sure you will be more pleased by this game than any other SCS released and that alone should be enough to make you buy the game.
@Aditzu: To say that europeans don't usually drive doubles is quite wrong. The doubles SCS presented to us are very common in Europa. Ofcourse, there aren't so many doubles as there as single trailers, but they are diffinitely there. Maybe just not so common in your country?
yeh i'm pretty sure the box truck towing a dolly and trailer like the 25.25m combos are pretty common, and i dont really care if they implement the double trailers, all i want is for the game to support it and give modders/players the option to have doubles if we want to. surely its not that hard, they've done it in et/et2, haulin', alh and ets even know it wasn't actually in the game you could still mod it if you knew what your doing. are you saying that it shouldn't be in the game? it sounds like your the one who will be complaining when you have to be reversing 5kms
This all reminds me of when diablo 3 was about to come out and many ppl were voicing loudly about how the game would be a total failure if inferno would take under 6 months to clear...and then whined about the difficulty being just too hard barely 2 weeks after release...musta been the same ppl doing both since it's a small minority of ppl that are vocal about their opinions.
And fyi, I didn't say I was against it, just predicting that given how hard driving double is, the vocal minority most likely WILL whine.
To say “The doubles SCS presented to us are very common in Europa” is VERY wide of the mark, even in some country’s that allow LHV’s they are still uncommon as special permits are required and they have to stick to specific routes, also most countries in the EU dont allow them except for the haulage of indivisible loads (heavy haulage) which again require special permits, escorting vehicles etc etc.
Wow SCS this is so amazing! I really love the effects of the water and time of day. I love how the cities look, and how there is animation for the animals at the farm. So realistic! There is no other company that can even come close to matching your amazing quality of games! I don't care how long it takes, just take your precious time! And succeed! Excellent work!
Love the music, by the way. Keep using interesting music with your videos!
That would take physics improvements etc. And with "SNOW" which means winter it wouldn't be right if there weren't spring and autumn. I wonder how you people can ask for more thing to be in game and want it to be out sooner.
I know there was, but you can't just take it out of 18wos and put into the ETS2. They should work on and rework textures, 3D-models and physics. It's quite a big thing, so I don't think they'd work on anything like that and would rather work on optimization, testing and maybe some smaller stuff but probably not this.
I was thinking, maybe you could do like some problems, i mean like one of your drivers get sick, trash his truck, something like happens in the real world, so that it is not just to easy. Just a thought
SCS, this is great! Good things: 1. Cows grazing in the meadow are beautiful! 2. Water effects are great. 3. Cities are slightly more detailed. 4. Finally! I have been waiting for this extremely simple yet effective feature- Lamposts or "streetlights" (depending on where you come from).
Seen Some good trafic on the bridge but too bad that it was only on the one side, the other side was empty like it have always been ): Add traffic and this game will be fantastic!
Other then that, everything looks great Good Job SCS

i want winter ( with snow and ice on the road )and truck performance on different roads and season ( on the summer, rain and snow ) and police car with traffic rules. the game looks amazing !
Yeah, yeah, and need to send a Christmas postcard to your mom and driver having autumn depression and smelling his sweat in the summertime and driver having avitaminosis when spring comes.
If they were doing seasons, they'd want it to be on a different level that in the previous games. If you want to have complete year in the game - doing other seasons is much harder that just summer, since they are a lot more dynamic and less static - leaves go yellow and red, then fall or - in spring - trees got blossoms etc. And if to do it realistic - skies are different as well. Then to create a winter world they'd have to work on physics. Every idea is good, but often you can't make it real without time and hard work and game's engine should be more optimized.
1st point (0:16) the cows, mysteriously point north http://news.cnet.com/google-earth-shows-cows-point-north/
2nd point, the train (1:05) the overhead catenary has 2 overhead lines, but only one track. the catenary hangs over the tracks (as you can see http://www.railway-technical.com/ohl001.gif), not beside them. and is that a non-European train I see?
3rd point, the telephone cabling (1:48) it ends just below the bridge, the cables do not go anywhere... They just end.
Normally, they would just slope downward into the ground, but no. they just end.
And another thing, there are no insects, no solar eclipses, no kid's football accidently hitting the truck, there are not enough germs on the train, no terrorist attacks to the city, no planes making emergency landings, but most of all you can't see any UFOs landing on your truck because they thought it was their missing pet turtle, and no visiting your wife at Christmas and decorating the tree if you choose Christian religion and pick to be straight at the start of the game.
That's how your response looks to SCS and others, to you, it's an important feature. Get a life, it's just a game.
1_ when i go on the highway and the cars go by me changed lanes, always signaled precisely the time when performing the maneuver of changing and always clash with my truck or cross on my forehead so I want to have a time (a good time) between the car begins to mark and when it starts to perform the maneuver, so you can reach without generating curb accidents
2_ increase the brightness of the turn light of the trafic cars, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great job SCS I can see the game release date will be much closer because the game might be almost done. Please SCS put some finishing touches, but don't do things that will take 2 Months or more. For the people who are requesting some more features in the game to make the game better than why not request features as update for ETS 2. Its just an opinion so don't take it seriously.
Omg SCS this is great I will definitely buying this game it has all the realistic elements of the Europeans roads and makes truck driving even more fun. SCS can we request more ideas be cause I checked amazon.co.uk and saw ETS 2 for preorder and it ships August 10th which just 1 month away so are you gonna use some last ideas from your fans or are you finished developing the game? PS: Even though you are small company this game will make one of the popular trucks Devs in the world and keep on listenings to your loyal fans and customers because it will make game even more better. Good Job SCS Software!
Congratulations for the great job SCS.
ReplyDeleteThe work is increasingly beautiful.
We are looking forward.
Thank you!
Nice VİDEO SCS TEAM :) I Want to PRE-ORDER DATE ? HAVE YOU A LİNK ? I buy it

ReplyDeleteNice video i am looking out for playing this game
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteWOW scs you make everyone speechless. keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteGood job scs, I know that you wont disappoint us. I have a tiny question, all cities in ets2 will bi that big?
ReplyDeletewow , looks cool , can't wait for the release :D
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic. I can not wait any more. ^_^ I hope the release day will come soon.
ReplyDeleteMind = Blown.
ReplyDeleteGraphically this is going to be one hell of a game.
But, will you really have the sort of money to buy all these things before you get to the levels that are required? Just thinking.
Deletebesides the point though no? since atm you don't get it for free at that level, you still need the money to boot.
DeleteI really agree.

ReplyDeleteGame is lagging in this video?
ReplyDeleteMoon isn't too big?
American locomotive in europe?
Why this game must be so shiny?

1. The video is lagging in this video, not the game.
Delete2. I have to say, the moon is too big.
3. Yeah, but it should be changed I think.
4. You mean bright? This can be turned much dimmer in the options menu.
I also found the moon a little big, but I do not want to interfere in the work that is getting great.
DeleteFinaly SCS, this is a great video, a great news, thank YOU! I belive this is the first video showing the final stage of the game, this looks like ziland said 'mind blowing'.

Very good, but in this detailed world the game will lag like hell...please, please optimize your graphic engine!

The game runs 40fps average, 30fps when it rains. In games like Skyrim, Battlefield 3, DiRT3 i get 60-70+ fps ..
...oh and i use 200% scaling, mirrors low, no HDR and MLAA, the rest on high and very high..
DeleteI have not had any problems with the graphics. STDS game with maximum graphics in Full HD (1080p). My work computer is not the best. My computer is AMD 90%. Even though the best video cards are NVidia, buy better equipment is not yet part of my financial budget.
DeleteWithout doubt, the optimization of the graphics engine is the main result for this to be possible.
Motherboard: ASUS M5A 78l-m lx
Processor: AMD FX-4100 Quad Core Processor 3.60GHz
Ram: 8 GB
Video Card: AMD Radeon HD6870 1GB GDDR5 256-bit Dual Fan
Thanks
No problem for me either
Delete6GB Ram
i7 950
evga gtx 470
all max
I think you should download the Scania Truck Simulator Demo - it's the same engine. You'll find (I did at least) that the graphics quality has increased without any noticeable performance drop. So maybe the question about them optimizing their engine is irrelevant - It looks like they've already been on the case =)
Deleterealistic look really beautiful city landscapes, but in this game no more than one missing trailer trailer added some different
ReplyDeleteExcellent also with the micropauses seen in the video. But I'm afraid with the system requirements...
ReplyDeleteSame here.
DeleteMy rig:
CPU: i5-2500 3.30 GHz
GPU: NV GTX 570
RAM: 8 gig
OPSYS: Win 7 64 bit
Fair to say it's not 'low' end, and yet I'm worried...
I have CPU: E7300 dual core 2.66
DeleteGPU: GTS 450 1GB
RAM: 4GB DDR 2
OPSYS: Win 7 x64
STDS runs with full graphics, scalling is at 100% and vsync off, at over 50 fps everywhere!
If you have a better system, stay chill it will work fine.
I have CPU i7 3.40
DeleteGPU gts 560 (i think)
RAM 8Gb
SYS Win 7 64bit
STDS with full graphics scalling 300% and vsync on and have over 60 fps and with scalling at 400% on 50fps
so i don't think i have lag, didn't have it on stds before patch 1.20
Is not possible, stop saying that the game runs perfect because is not true. This graphic engine in shitty optimized and you CAN'T get 50fps on 400% scaling with a GTX 560Ti. SCS must optimize the fcking engine.
DeleteI have GTS 450 and 100% is playable but games looks like shit with distorted objects, grainy shadows, overwhelming blur and anti-aliasing is a joke. I guess on 400% game looks better, but most of the people don't have i5 or i7...
DeleteAnonymousJuly 12, 2012 3:39 PM
Deletedon´t say that I am a liar
You do not know if my game so good, or not
my computer is a few months old! and yes I have a GTX 560 vid
I repeat...NOT possible...and stop saying that the game runs well because then SCS will think like "oh ok our game runs good so we don't need to optimize it"...
Delete@ChrisCross: You implied you weren't sure about your GPU at first...now you are? Cuz I'd believe you'd run this smoothly if you said GTX 580...but not 560...I got 570 SE and it runs at what? 20 fps at 400% with max everything vsync off.
DeleteMy rig is pretty optimized for gaming btw, separate HD for pagefyling, cleaned up services and any autobackup in windows turned off, no indexing...took me alot of work to fine tune it to where it's at atm. So ya, 580 is what you MUST have.
K just made sure with fraps, I get between 25-35 at 400% all max no vsync. but at full stop it goes to 45fps. Still no 50 though...at 200% I get it to 50 stable.
Delete@ChrisCross: Ooops, sorry man, just checked your original post again.
DeleteMan, did you installed the 1.2.0 pacth? If you didn`t istall it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteYou will se over 10 fps improvment.
@S7efan: running 1.2.1.
DeleteYes i have patch 1.2.1
Deleteand stil AnonymousJuly 12, 2012 7:58 PM for me it runs great!!!
and no SCS don´t check only my thinking of the game engine (I hope)... If there are a lot of fans who have problems, they don´t say that only man (me) hasn´t any problems so we don´t work on it!!!
And also i have only 2 games on this computer that is Farming simulator and STDS. al the other games are on my old computer!!
DeleteIt’s probably youtube causing the pausing/shuttering/jumps when they converted the uploaded video, it took me 3 years to figure out that your best off ignoring the mp4 etc format & the AVI container format youtube recommend and to use the older format mpeg2 (mp2) at 29.970fps with no P frames and short closed GOP’s using 2 pass VBR, as after youtube converts that its silky smooth and exactly like was uploaded!
Delete''A few scenic looks at the *wold* of Euro Truck Simulator 2 for today...''
ReplyDeleteDid you mean ''WORLD'' ?
Whatever, the game is clearly awsome.
This looks truly epic. Good job. Really looking forward to the game. But somehow I fear the keyboard steering controls. I really hope you guys are looking into this, it'd be a shame if I can't play this game just because I have troubles steering my truck, like in the Scania game :(
ReplyDeleteNot getting this, I think STDS's keyboard steering is a BIG step up from GTS. Maybe you're simply having problems running the game smoothly? Can't imagine what the problem is otherwise.
DeleteThe problem is that the steer doesn't automatically go back to neutral/straight when the arrow keys are released, like in all the other driving/racing games out there. I realize STDS's steering is way more realistic and professionals love it, but I'm not a pro, and prefer an arcade-style steering.
DeleteIt's got nothing to do with the game not running smoothly, but it's just because I need to move my truck forward/backwards to let the steer return to neutral/straight (like in reality).
I'm just an arcade gamer, playing STDS/ETS/GTS as game, not as a simulator :)
Okay, but...but...but it's a....hmmm....simulator! Cmon man, this is clearly not the right game type for you.
DeleteI'm not saying that to be mean or anger you in any way.
Then you should use the mouse with keyboard instead of just the keyboard. The mouse is much faster than the arrow keys
Deleteso you can steer more quickly...
Oh, just remembered something, dunno if you know but you can set the steering sensitivity to max, it affect keyboard also. It's what I did.
Delete"Okay, but...but...but it's a....hmmm....simulator! Cmon man, this is clearly not the right game type for you."
DeleteETS1 was the right game for me, why wouldn't ETS2 be? :P I can understand if they want to enforce realistic steering in STDS, which seems all about truck control, but not in ETS2, which is about making deliveries, planning routes and building your company. It'd be a shame if the arcade-gamer would be alienated :P (especially by something as small as this)
"But only if it's optional."
An option is all I'm asking for. It'd be a shame if they're gonna replace this realistic steering. :P
"Then you should use the mouse with keyboard instead of just the keyboard."
Could try, but I doubt this would really ease things up.
Indeed, set them both to 100% and it's better, but still not good.
Deletethat's right with the mouse you can see how the wheels are rotated
DeleteThanks for that little treat, SCS, looking good.
ReplyDeleteOf course it will lag like hell... you can already see lags in the video... unfortunately this game is too much focused on graphics (interior textures are shitty) not on the simulation and optimization...
ReplyDeleteShiny? you mean bloom? Sure it looks like a greasy camera lens, but I always thought it made games look and feel warmer, as oposed to cold and hard without that effect. I personally like it. Plus, you can normally turn off bloom.
DeleteI know and this will be the first thing I do - turn off HDR. I find it funny how 90% off people here says this game looks beautiful, fantastic, lovely but when they gonna play it they will complain about how this game is not running smoothly for them.
DeleteOne more thing why this game won't be a good simulator. In FSX, OMSI and RailWorks you can zoom camera inside cab/cockpit and use most of the buttons and switches with mouse cursor! This is the 'must be' in simulators.
SCS explain this long time ago.. they want ot to be 50$ game and 50% simulator.. so don't expect OMSI or RailWorks options in ETS2 =,=
DeleteOk, but FSX have game modes with different level of experience for new players, experienced players and real pilots. Why ETS2 can't have atleast 2 modes for arcade players (50/50% like you said) and real simulator fanatics (20/80%)? I know 100% simulator is impossible to make, but this game is not for kids. Maybe in ETS3?
DeleteIdk for ETS3 .. but there sure will be DLCs, maybe SCS'll improve it further later after release
DeleteTo be perfectly honest, I do agree with you CETS. When I first played ETS I felt that they really pushed the gfx part a bit too much, same for GTS. I would prefer if they focused more on gameplay elements, to enhance the experience.
DeleteBut, after playing STDS, I got really taken in by that insane focus on gfx, I felt like, damn, I like this alot, this feels alot more comfortable and awe inspiring.
DeleteGraphics are great, and low specs just like STDS, and the lag is most likely the screen capturing program.
Delete- CETS
DeleteYou touched on an interesting subject.
Thanks.
DeleteYou know what will really make the game real?
DeleteFood for thought.
Cheers
- CETS
DeleteAgain I support your idea. Hopefully as soon as possible SCS can do that and more.
Thanks
Very big cities, i like it.Keep up the good job SCS.

This is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to play the game!
Love your games scs. You make the best games i've ever played.
dont forget the double trailers SCS otherwise alot of people will be disappointed
ReplyDeleteI think you'll be the first to whine when you have to reverse through 5km of small roads with that thing when you realize you can't pass under that bridge or through that small town with it...
Delete@Ziland: Maybe he will be the first to whine, but driving double trailers is a wonderful experience, at least for me and for @anonymous ^up there, so it would be a nice addition to the game, confirmed by some earlier in-game screenshots.
DeleteAs for the video, the city looks very nice and clean and gives an overall impression of a populated urban area. Too bad that there are no pedestrians..
Cheers
The last post and the only one about double trailers was more than a year ago.
DeleteSo maybe SCS, some news please about doubles? Would be nice to see a video about driving with doubles or pictures are also very good.
Also, if there are doubles in game, AI should drive them too!
Thanks for your time SCS
@Aditzu: Check time index 0:58 on that vid...pedestrians 'might' be in the works!!!
Delete@Aditzu: Again at 1:22
Delete@Ziland: Well, as I can see from the video, it looks like the pedestrians are placed where you can't drive with the truck. This is a good thing, I am glad that at least there there are pedestrians. However, I would really like seeing them along the streets you can drive and cross the street when the lights are red. But if that is not possible, I am happy with just them being where I cannot drive with the truck.
DeleteOh and I agree with Anonymous too: if double-trailers will be implemented in the game, I would like the AI to drive them as well.
Cheers
@Aditzu: ah, ya...guess they don't want us running down pedestrians uh...oh well, we'll have to get our kicks from GTA V when it comes out. :P
DeleteIf it hasn't got doubles I probly won't even buy it,I drive road trains in real life so why would I play a simulator only with single trailers?
Delete@Anonymous: Because this is an European Truck Simulator and europeans don't usually drive doubles, let alone road trains. And seriously, you won't buy the game because it won't have doubles? That's wrong thinking. You should buy it anyway because I am sure you will be more pleased by this game than any other SCS released and that alone should be enough to make you buy the game.
Delete@Ziland: We just have to wait and see!
Cheers
@Aditzu: To say that europeans don't usually drive doubles is quite wrong. The doubles SCS presented to us are very common in Europa. Ofcourse, there aren't so many doubles as there as single trailers, but they are diffinitely there. Maybe just not so common in your country?
DeleteThat is what I wanted to say, there are not so common as single trailers, but should be included in the game.
DeleteCheers
yeh i'm pretty sure the box truck towing a dolly and trailer like the 25.25m combos are pretty common, and i dont really care if they implement the double trailers, all i want is for the game to support it and give modders/players the option to have doubles if we want to. surely its not that hard, they've done it in et/et2, haulin', alh and ets even know it wasn't actually in the game you could still mod it if you knew what your doing. are you saying that it shouldn't be in the game? it sounds like your the one who will be complaining when you have to be reversing 5kms
Deleteand there isn't much chance that they will make an Australian simulator, so this is the next best thing
DeleteThis all reminds me of when diablo 3 was about to come out and many ppl were voicing loudly about how the game would be a total failure if inferno would take under 6 months to clear...and then whined about the difficulty being just too hard barely 2 weeks after release...musta been the same ppl doing both since it's a small minority of ppl that are vocal about their opinions.
DeleteAnd fyi, I didn't say I was against it, just predicting that given how hard driving double is, the vocal minority most likely WILL whine.
DeleteWow SCS this is so amazing! I really love the effects of the water and time of day. I love how the cities look, and how there is animation for the animals at the farm. So realistic! There is no other company that can even come close to matching your amazing quality of games! I don't care how long it takes, just take your precious time! And succeed! Excellent work!
ReplyDeleteLove the music, by the way. Keep using interesting music with your videos!
That's awesome! Amazing map, SCS Soft, keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteLooks stunning with plentiful detail.
ReplyDeleteSNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW SNOW
ReplyDeleteWE WANT SNOW,SCS Software.
That would take physics improvements etc. And with "SNOW" which means winter it wouldn't be right if there weren't spring and autumn. I wonder how you people can ask for more thing to be in game and want it to be out sooner.
DeleteMaybe because in 18 WOS there was snow. It was like rain (and the same as STDS), it snowed in the cold zones at times, so it's not that impossible
DeleteI know there was, but you can't just take it out of 18wos and put into the ETS2. They should work on and rework textures, 3D-models and physics. It's quite a big thing, so I don't think they'd work on anything like that and would rather work on optimization, testing and maybe some smaller stuff but probably not this.
Deletemuito bom msmsó uma opinião
ReplyDeleteacho que poderiam tbm colocar acidentes pela estrada carros batibos ambulâcias e mais
There are always people who want more and more, but I'm impressed by these results!
ReplyDeleteSCS, it's amazing!
Scs should be a big company they deserve our money and actually listen to us!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking, maybe you could do like some problems, i mean like one of your drivers get sick, trash his truck, something like happens in the real world, so that it is not just to easy. Just a thought
ReplyDeleteSCS, this is great!
ReplyDeleteGood things:
1. Cows grazing in the meadow are beautiful!
2. Water effects are great.
3. Cities are slightly more detailed.
4. Finally! I have been waiting for this extremely simple yet effective feature- Lamposts or "streetlights" (depending on where you come from).
Not so happy about:
1. American train.
More AI maybe ? ;)
ReplyDeleteSeen Some good trafic on the bridge but too bad that it was only on the one side, the other side was empty like it have always been ):
ReplyDeleteAdd traffic and this game will be fantastic!
Other then that, everything looks great Good Job SCS

ReplyDeleteStokes
DeleteIt looks awesome. I only hope there will be better trailers than in GTS.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if SCS were at Master Truck in Opole this year?
ReplyDeletewould be good to more traffic on the highways in some times
ReplyDeletei want winter ( with snow and ice on the road )and truck performance on different roads and season ( on the summer, rain and snow ) and police car with traffic rules.
ReplyDeletethe game looks amazing !
wake up and stop dreaming... he wants lol
DeleteYeah, yeah, and need to send a Christmas postcard to your mom and driver having autumn depression and smelling his sweat in the summertime and driver having avitaminosis when spring comes.
DeleteHahahahaha that was good.
DeleteIn 18WOS all those details exists, and the company is the same, so the know how is already there...
DeleteIf they were doing seasons, they'd want it to be on a different level that in the previous games.
DeleteI hope I can buy trailer in ETS2.
ReplyDeleteSome problems with this trailer.
ReplyDelete1st point (0:16) the cows, mysteriously point north http://news.cnet.com/google-earth-shows-cows-point-north/
Seriously?
Deletemake you a better one ...
DeleteAnd another thing, there are no insects, no solar eclipses, no kid's football accidently hitting the truck, there are not enough germs on the train, no terrorist attacks to the city, no planes making emergency landings, but most of all you can't see any UFOs landing on your truck because they thought it was their missing pet turtle, and no visiting your wife at Christmas and decorating the tree if you choose Christian religion and pick to be straight at the start of the game.
DeleteThat's how your response looks to SCS and others, to you, it's an important feature. Get a life, it's just a game.
There a UFO at the logging camp (free drive) when its dark at night in STDS

NICE JOB ON GRAPHIC AND GAME REALLY NICE JOBBB :))))
ReplyDeletea couple of things please:
ReplyDelete1_ when i go on the highway and the cars go by me changed lanes, always signaled precisely the time when performing the maneuver of changing and always clash with my truck or cross on my forehead so I want to have a time (a good time) between the car begins to mark and when it starts to perform the maneuver, so you can reach without generating curb accidents
ReplyDeleteGuys, so much critics I see :) Does anybody even noticed PEDESTRIANS in the video? There was so much desire for them on this blog :)
ReplyDeleteThe pedestrians are great, another realistic addition to a great future game!
DeleteIt's things like this that make me feel proud to be a patron of SCS Software and the Truck Simulator Series!
ReplyDeletePLZ!Make the cities like in Scania Truck Driving Simulator.I mean make the cities BIG!
ReplyDeleteSorry if i have mistakes.
Greetings from Bulgaria!
ReplyDeleteETS2 is looking amazing, what with all the modification options. But the one thing I would really like to see is the UK part of the map.
ReplyDeleteHas it been improved since ETS/UKTS, are their more cities? More roads, particularly B roads? Also can we chose to start our career in the UK?
I'm happy to see that the cows also move realistically!
ReplyDelete
