Update 1.10 for Euro Truck Simulator 2 is focused on improving the range of truck paint effects. The game is getting new custom paint options now that allow you to tune the trucks to take on very cool metallic paint look.
The standard game interface allows to mix the color components of the metallic paint, but in fact the technology allows for quite a bit more tricks.
We have bundled a sampling of such tricks into a new Steam mini-DLC for the game. The Metallic Paint Jobs DLC can be yours for free, all you need to do is to (1) become a registered member of World of Trucks (worldoftrucks.com), and (2) use the code you will get there on Steam.
We are aware that this will once again be viewed by non-Steam game players as controversial, but we really have no alternate delivery and update method for mini-DLCs available.
Steam makes it so much easier for game developers to support their games long-term, and to concentrate on just on game development itself rather than on distribution and related support issues. We are seriously considering shifting all updates and expansions to Steam infrastructure over time, most likely in 6-12 months timeframe. But we are not quite so far, the 1.10 update is hitting Steam now, but you can be sure that it will be also available for retail copy of the game in a couple of days.
We hope that the free Metallics DLC will indicate that with Steam we are striving to provide you with better service from us in the future. We do not plan to leave anybody behind; all genuine Product Keys we have ever issued for Euro Truck Simulator 2 can activate the game on Steam.

ReplyDeleteThanks SCS! You are doing a very good work! Continue like that
ReplyDeleteI doubt the game become any more interesting with this upgrade.. I'm looking forward for more map improvements and features. The trucks are all right anyway.
DeleteAnd earlier promised SCS Blender tools will be the real hit!
Nice work! Thanks a lot :-)
ReplyDeleteTotally agree! :)
DeleteGood job - but i want to know what countries do u want to develop for the next DLC??
ReplyDeleteread the fucking blog: no country dlc, next game is ATS
DeleteLink to where they said this please
DeleteAgain only steam.....
ReplyDeleteyou can copy your installation code from your CD game to steam... however, there mustnt be... Depends on where did you buy game :)
DeleteI agree
DeleteGood work, and thank you for the free DLC, but we also want a Multiplayer for this game! Please make a MP for ETS2 SCS Software!!!
ReplyDeletehttps://www.facebook.com/ets2mpofficial?fref=photo
DeleteThere already is an ETS2MP
DeleteJust Google it
It's not official unless SCS release it.
DeleteYes, we know it's a lot easier to use Steam... but you should be the one that will stand out from the mass; be the one that people approve and like.
ReplyDeletebullshit
DeleteI can see you haven't pay for your game, there's no other reason for you to say that, admit it. Because Steam will need you to put a genuine key for the game that you don't have, that's why. I also have been playing pirated games, because I can't afford it but I saved some money to buy ETS 2 it's not that expensive after all, and I tell you it's worth every cent I've paid, SCS have done so much since ver.1.0 of that game, and that's where the money are going, and if everyone pays for the game the game will become even better and they'll be able to come up with the updates even faster. I recommend everybody to do as I did !
Delete@AnonymousMay 20, 2014 at 6:11 PM
DeleteI paid for my game and I feel the same way, so your opinion is just that, your opinion. And it's a quite uninformed opinion at that. And by the way, you have some stones to tell other people that they didn't pay for their game when you admit that you are a game pirate yourself. Take a hike, loser...
What about the seat ajustement update?
ReplyDeleteWhat about Mercedes, Daf and Renault?
DeleteWait, I have to download the DLC to get the bug fixes? That does not make any sense.
ReplyDeleteNever mind, I see steam downloading a 121.3 MB update for ETS2.
DeleteWhat about my brilliant idea of enabling deliveries to airports? When will that be implemented?
ReplyDeleteThat's actually a pretty good idea. Nice!
DeleteThanks, I was being facetious in calling it "my brilliant" idea, but the fact remains that they have airports, planes, and some airport buildings in the game. They just need to add a bit more work to make deliveries to airports a reality.
Deletep.s. 40% of airport traffic is cargo. The game already has a one-off delivery to Scout cars...
I like the idea, i have that thought myself too also the harbor could be a place to deliveries for boats and other stuff. And one more thing i would love to this game that you see your own truks sometimes on the road. And trailers and truck macth together. I mean if you see a Eddie Stobart trailer it's a Eddie Stobart truck there pull it.
DeleteCan we get an update on the truck models if possible please
ReplyDeleteSorry, but your decision bringing the update only on steam is nonsens. Non-steam-user as me -and I don't want to activate the game on staem- were left behind! Welcome to the two-class-society in ETS!
ReplyDeleteWhy can't you just activate it on steam? Seems a bit childish to me?
DeleteRead the other comments ... they are all "childish" don't want to be forced using steam ...
DeleteI don't like Steam because it is yet another user agreement that you must agree to, it gets deeply imbedded into your computer and you don't really 'own' the copies of things you buy from Steam. I had Steam on my old computer and hell will freeze over before I use it on this one.
DeleteTo everyone who says some variation of "Just register on Steam, it's not a big deal". For me and apparently a lot of other players, we don't want to and I am quite dismayed that SCS has made the choice. People don't like being forced to use things. Look at the outrage from when YouTube merged with Google+. Things like that are frustrating, overcomplicated, and quite unnecessary.
I don't think you're a PC gamer.
DeleteNo one is forcing you to use steam. You can play the non-steam version of ETS2 until your PC explodes. But if you want DLC then you gotta be on steam. The reasoning is simple. Why should SCS waste time and resources on what is an overwhelming minority of ETS2 players. The only thing that's "frustrating, over complicated, and quite unnecessary" is peoples refusal to use steam. The decision of SCS is clearly one that makes sense to them financially and logistically. Someone who plays a trucking sim should understand that at the very least.
DeleteI think you don't want to activate on steam bc your key isn't legit, huh?
DeleteI think you have конского навоза for brains, huh?
DeleteShould we expect in the next DLC some sort of NOS?
ReplyDeleteWhat is NOS? Explain yourself.
DeleteCould you be so kind SCS and give us the poor retail buyers the bug fixes , without forcing us to use Steam?
DeleteDude, 1.10 is for everybody. DLC is on Steam. So everyone are getting bugs fixed. They wrote it in the message :)
DeleteGreat but don't forget a lot of your market uses steam especially people that play ETS2 and can't have steam installed on the pc for 'work.' It would be a very big mistake to go steam only for your games in the future and isn't that hard to make a non steam version.....
ReplyDeleteI look forward to more content from ETS and SCS in the future!
Why are you trying to play games at work?
DeleteWhy wouldn't he do it?
DeleteAre you his boss?
DeleteRegardless, he can use Steam offline mode to play wherever.
Delete1.10? o_0
ReplyDeleteSTEAM-STEAM-STEAM ????? Are you crazy SCS ???? Hope you know that you're making a HUGE mistake and that mistake is going to cost you a LOT over time !!!! When you 'buy" anything on Steam, you only "rent" a product, don't "buy" it like a DVD-ROM. You don't have access to what you "bought" if Steam disappears for ANY reason !!! Hope everybody realize that !!! What a WRONG direction to go SCS...... :(
ReplyDeleteScrew Steam !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope EVERYBODY who hate Steam will comment about your decision....!!!
From one of your most supportive fans from the start in Canada
No, they're not crazy. You're crazy.
DeleteALL OF U NON STEAM PLAYERS WHO COMPLAIN I WANT TO SAY A VERY BIG FUCK YOU!!. SCS IS NOT CRAZY,YOU ARE A CRAZY PATHETIC PIECE OF JUNK. USE YOUR KEY ON STEAM IF U WANT THE DLC
DeleteIt's a bad financial move for SCS because they will lose support of non steam players who are now in the majority which is a bad news in long run. I hope that SCS will still earn enough money in the future from steam players. As for me I'm a non steam player and I will continue to buy games and dlc's fom SCS as long as they are available without steam. If everything that SCS makes is going to be only for steam players than steam players should spend their money and I will find my fun elsewhere. It's not a big deal for me I will not cry about it. And certainly I will not hold any grudges against SCS. They seem like nice people and they can do with their product whatever they want. bolus(World of Trucks)
Delete@AnonymousMay 20, 2014 at 2:25 PM
DeleteThe minority, which is people like you (anti-Steam), are not going to cause a financial loss for SCS.
You do know when you buy the DVD version you are also only "renting" the game.
DeleteAll closed sourced software has pretty much the same license agreement that says you have brought the key (i'e the product key you get in the manual or on steam) and that allows you to use the software but does NOT give you any ownership.
One of the two main reasons I started playing ETS2 was because it was one of the few games that did not use Steam. If that goes away, so does my support for your future ventures.
ReplyDeleteSad.
DeleteI really don't understand why you all (non-steam players) complain about this update. SCS decided to provide the game on steam and in the same time to make updates for non-steam players too. If you have a legit copy of the game, non steam then i don't see why you complain. They said that all cd keys they provided can be activated on STEAM too, so if you want the new update/s and dlc/s all you have to do is activate the game on steam. Why you don't want to activate the game on steam? Because the game auto-updates? You can turn it off. I'm sure that most of non-steam players that complain about this update don't even have a legit copy of the game, but a pirate copy of the game and that's why they keep complaining. You don't have money to buy a f*****g copy? Then why the hell you complain of this and that? I don't think that 10-20 euros/dollars or whatever currency everybody have is a death sentence. You only pay for the game once, and if you're lucky to get it on discount, even better for you!
ReplyDeletei would register on steam if i could find my key, but it has escaped me (and DON'T accuse me of pirating it). i also didn't see the game on the list of ones available to register on steam, but maybe they updated it
DeleteQuote: "I really don't understand why you all (non-steam players) complain about this update."
DeleteBecause a lot of people don't want Steam on their computer. Why is that so hard to understand? It means agreeing to another license agreement, and having another automatic startup program on your computer which takes some degree of control. I hate it and I'll never use it again.
--
Quote: "I'm sure that most of non-steam players that complain about this update don't even have a legit copy of the game, but a pirate copy of the game and that's why they keep complaining."
Completely false. Way to make assumptions about people who disagree with you. I, like many others, purchased a copy of the game elsewhere (I bought it directly from the site) mainly because I want nothing to do with Steam.
In conclusion, forcing people to continue registering for other sites in order to continue using your services/products is never a good idea. SCS, I certainly hope you will realize this, and make all updates and DLCs available to anyone who has a legit copy of the game, regardless of whether it was through Steam or not.
You can set Steam to not start with your computer, you know...
DeleteCompletely agree with AnonymousMay 20, 2014 at 3:39 AM!
DeleteSteam is not your best idea, dear SCS. This way you can come across increasing of using pirate versions of your game, SCS.
Don't make your true fans disappointed, please..
#Anonymous May 20, 2014 at 3:39 AM
DeleteYou choosed to not use steam, it's your choise and your arguments. SCS says that they're considering to shifting the updates and expansions for steam only in the future, but didn't tell us the last decision.
I didn't say that you expecially or someone else have a pirate copy of the game, but the most non-steam player, as i was for a lil' while when the game came out. I choosed to not buy the game instantly when it came out because i didn't wanted to pay for something that is not stable, bugged or without trying it first. If you felt that you're a part of this category, it's not my fault.
If I wanted Steam, I would've bought it on Steam.
DeleteI didn't, I bought a boxed version so I've got nothing to do with online bullshit.
I paid for ETS2 just like Steam-users... Hell, I might have paid a lot more for ETS. I want the same as anyone else, since I paid for it and SCS never told me when I bought it that I, at some point have to use a crap third-party online system.
It means agreeing to another license agreement, and having another automatic startup program on your computer which takes some degree of control. I hate it and I'll never use it again.
DeleteI assume that you know shit about computers becuase if knew some facts about computers then you would say these things. You can tell windows which programs should start and not start All you have to do is press start and search for msconfig and there you configure your programs.
In the future (6-12 months) all products of SCS Software to be marketed through Steam (Updates ETS 2, DLC's, Games, ATS, Euro Coach Simulator, etc ....)
ReplyDeleteI and many people do not want Steam, including some beta testers, to people do not like to be forced to accept things they do not want.
How many things do we need to do to play the game? An account ... World Of Trucks, an account on Steam ... everything is more complicated than before. Now everything has to be with Steam? not want Steam.
Many players will not buy future games or DLC's, if you are only available on Steam, SCS read the comments and you'll see I'm right. Greetings.
An account on this site is optional. STEAM used to be optional, but now it is required, like the thousands of other games that use it. It makes DLC managing easy, game updating easy, and game purchasing easy. I don't have a single problem with STEAM.
DeleteBy the way, what about Blender tools that were promised to be developed by SCS??? What about further ETS2 map expention???..
DeleteI'm afraid SCS team begin to please more truck manufacturers than its fans..:-((
Im tierd of driving single trailers. Please can you guys in future add double trailers, and lots of new different cargo! Would be appreciated. Amazing work Scs!
ReplyDeleteThey don't exist in Europe
Delete"They don't exist in Europe"
DeleteMore like they only exist in northern Europe.
DOUBLE TRAILER MASTER RACE!
DeleteLove steam. Its great. Multiplaer please.
ReplyDeleteThis patch ruined it all for me (for now). The game won't run any more.
ReplyDeleteI was playing it when Steam downloaded the new patch in the background. The game became sloppy and I decided to restart it, but it wouldn't launch any more.
After more than one hour of research I found out:
- The old "Failed to poke open firewall" bug is back
- Since above mentioned event, Steam is caught in an infinite update loop where it prompts me to apply a downloaded update (allegedly from April 24th, but I suspect there's something wrong and it really is the ETS2 update)
- The timestamps of the files in the bin/winx86 folder of ETS2 are exactly the same as the time when the game became sloppy.
Rebooting won't help. I can't be bothered deleting and/or reinstalling Steam or any other components, as suggested in some forums. This patch and/or Steam better should be fixed again.
Steam is one big shit
DeleteThis is one reason why i don't use Steam. Another is that i don't like and don't support US companies and the NSA gathering metadata. Not going to get 1.10. SCS, you are going a wrong road. With all the success you can very well support non-Steam delivery. It's just your greed.
DeleteYou're just mad because you don't know how Steam works.
DeleteSad.
Why do you not support American companies?
DeleteWhy can't you be bothered to just reinstall it.
DeleteThere are issues being reported with reinstalling Steam. That would affect my other installed games on Steam, which run well as of now. Can't risk that. It's up to SCS/Steam to fix this, not to me.
Delete@AnonymousMay 20, 2014 at 1:16 AM
Deleteyour mother is the biggest shit, look at her face
Truck sounds that still need to be recorded previous MB Actros V8, MAN TGX V8 and MAN TGX Inline 6. This will improve ETS2 in a way that each truck is unique exactly as the real trucks.
ReplyDeleteLove the Youtube video! Can't wait to see what SCS does next with ETS2!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. The YouTube video is excellent, especially the Renault and Scania at the end.
Deletelol Renault trucks are ugliest trucks ever...
DeleteThis is an awesome update/ DLC! Can't wait to see what's next!
ReplyDeleteI have not found the adjustment steering wheel!???

ReplyDeleteno you are not. You have to wait until they will release version 0.1.0.4. Give them some time to update the files according to patch 1.10
Deletemetallic .... God jooooooob !!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletethanks
SCS are you going to relase this paintjob too?
ReplyDeletehttp://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Rd6ix-obkc4/U2Oxy2jlfYI/AAAAAAAAAvc/JQykYHNS_os/s1600/06.jpg
It's not included in DLC.
Imho you should add about 2 or 4 blank paintjobs to make us able to add custom paintjobs without getting info that game is modded etc...This annoys me a bit as I'm not using any mods so far. Only want to have at least 2 my own paintjobs for each truck:)
Oh and other thing... Imho you should think about cooperation with Italeri/Revell and Herpa. They might promote ETS2 / ATS on their model trucks, and you can relase paintjobs based on some of their models to promote them:). For example paintjobs "Griffin" or "Viking" based on Italeri's model trucks (Scania and Volvo) look awesome in ETS2. I did for myself "Viking" one and it's EPIC on my Volvo FH16.
Greetings:) D.J.
Why have I not found the regulator seat? SCS, you talked about this!!!
ReplyDeleteOnly Steam? I already have Steam but not ETS2 on Steam, is there a way I can transfer it over to Steam without having to download it through steam and starting game from scratch?
ReplyDeleteyes
DeleteCan I download version 1.10.1 if the original game?
ReplyDeleteI have played 2 years ago a pirate copy. I was amazed and purchased the game for support and to thank you. I also purchased the dlc going east.
ReplyDeleteThe last months though it seems that we have to have a registration on Worldof trucks and now in order to have the updates we have to use Steam.
I do not like steam as I have less control over my files and game files in general. Also it is creating a mess in my file construction tree of my PC. If you want to go this way it is OK. But I will probably do not follow.
it is not true, you have full control over the files, if you know how to use steam...
Delete@Anonymous, exactly. It seems that every anti-Steam user on this blog is computer-illiterate. HOW does Steam not give you full access to your files?
DeleteI have very organized filetree in two hard drives with two operating systems and three different Steam libraries (library meaning the game install folder for Steam in case you didn't know), in total of 5 partitions. It's made so that I have all my personal files in one partition if I have to manually backup. Game and program spesific files like settings and savefiles I still have to gather from different folders. But it's the optimized for performance, easy back-up and easy use. I don't see why Steam would make it harder to manage files. I'm more worried about leftovers in my windows registry. I have no control over how badly Steam removes game that I decide uninstall.
DeleteAnd yes, I'm still against Steam. Companies with such a big marketshare can only go worse. Steam can use it's marketshare to crush other possibly better services. They can make their service based on monthly subscriptions and no-one can do anything. They can do it because you have to acces Steam to play your Steam games. Steam can delete all your Steam games if they want. You have nothing to say against them, because you have agreed the terms of service that gives them right to do so. I don't believe something like that would happen, but Steam can only become evil. Steam is surprisingly good service. It has happened so many times in near history that good company becomes worse when getting big. If the worst happens, me and many others MUST to use Steam even if it's flashing annoying fullscreen video baby diaper adverts that you have to see before the game starts. Enough with this, I try to avoid Steam. You people who don't want to really investigate and think or understand why Steam is something to avoid; You will be proven wrong...
SCS: please make ATS only for steam, so we get rid of the crying kids in this blog
ReplyDeleteOnly steam ?! You are stupid or what ?
DeleteOnly steam?! You are stupid or what ?

Whats about the daf xf ?
ReplyDeleteFor blinded anti-Steam fanatics:
ReplyDeleteNo, you don't rent on Steam. Also, you don't own the game, neither you do in a boxed edition. In both cases, you own a LICENSE to play it.
Steam, unless you can't install it for some important reason (not your computer, for instance), is the same as having an Antivirus, Dropbox, the Logitech game controller program, or any other thing. You can even play the game being OFFLINE.
And of course you have user agreements here and there. It's software, and it has it's rules. Same user agreements you get on every boxed games you have (the long text you never read and hit "continue installation").
Also, about what happens to your games if Steam (Valve) ends. Here's an answer from Support, that I found on the net:
http://i.imgur.com/4sa1Ln6.jpg
Also, many games currently, even in their boxed edition, simply install Steam and then continue the installation downloading the game from there.
So, as SCS said, they are not leaving anyone behind. Things change, and Steam is a major game distributor right now, not to mention it is much easier both for the developers and the end users to update the game. So just activate the license you already own (from the boxed edition) on your Steam, and that's it!.
No reason to further strengthen Steams beginning monopoly.
DeleteI'd greatly appreciate if there would be an alternative way to distribute it that might be as easy as steam for SCS, such as Desura or GoG for example!
There are a lot of reasons, not to rely on Steam. Especially in Europe! But it obviously takes some brain to understand that.
@Anonymous: I remember older SCS games where you had 1 hour of gameplay, and some annoying key system that you had to unlock buying on a website, checking the email, limited number of unlocks (requiring to check old mails in case of reinstall), etc. etc... So, other than the boxed edition (which was not available everywhere either), they had just THAT, which would be de equivalent to Steam currently.
DeleteI've always been a CD/DVD guy, and I acquired my first couple of games online from DirectDownload if I recall correctly, when all this online buying was starting. I even bought a couple titles on GoG too. And you know what? I saw it as something great, and knew it would be something commong very soon: no more "insert disk 1", no more crack for no-CD, no more "where is my CD"... but I also missed my game box, the manual, etc...
Anyway, even if I was somehow anti-Steam many years ago, later I just saw it as another game distributor or publisher. Currently I don't go to the shop to buy a game or look for offers (which rarely exist). Instead I have everything there, I can install, uninstall or reinstall whenever I want, and I don't care about checking the website for updates, not to mention all the discounts offered on special dates.
So, I'm not sure what are those reasons you mention, which apparently require some brain to understand but you didn't bother to comment,.. I wouldn't mind taking a look, so maybe I learn something I didn't know. But Steam is currently used by millions of users, so maybe it isn't so bad as some people think.. or at least, so bad as it was sometime...
DAF euro6 ?
ReplyDeleteplease, new engine volvo fh16 euro 6 - 550, 650, 750 hp
ReplyDeleteSCS thank you for your hard work bringing new features to this game.
ReplyDeleteI never use Steam, but that doesn't affect me playing the game, I'm not a fan of random new paintjobs or other fancy colour types(which look very nice), and I can customize my own truck, so I can enjoy your game without those Steam Only features.
But, since the 1.9.22 patch, I have played ETS2 much less than before, as a "simulator" this game should give players the realistic feeling of driving a truck. To make it simple, for the last 2 years, I prefered STDS much more than ETS2, and in the past I can modify the physics in ETS2 to get a similar feeling as playing STDS, but 1.9.22 patch just got rid of all the statistics that matter, the game has become unbelievably easy, and I really don't like this. The trucks in ETS2 feel light, and the trailer is stable even when I'm doing 90kph in a tight corner, the steering is so shape and crisp, and I have all the grip in the world, it's so wrong, it's a heavy machine, not an Ariel Atom.
I understand that you're always improving your physics, and this is never an easy work, hope you can stop making this game easier, and maybe bring the STDS physics to ETS2 can be a solution.
It's alot of work, but I suggest SCS to keep these physics we have now and call them Arcade physics. In future games there should be also Simulation physics. In game menu there should be an option to choose between these two physics models. That way SCS don't have to waste time AND money to making physics settings configurable by settings for weight simulation on/off, fatigue simulation on/off. All the simulation elements would be on that simulation physics option and off on the arcade setting. As a simracer, nothing feels worse on the simulation game than arcade-like physics. I agree that I don't care about paintjobs, but those metallic paints are awesome and give new depth to the truck.
DeleteWhere do you get the key for the metallic paint jobs? I joined WOT but no key. Am I missing something really really ridiculously obvious? I've searched the forums.
ReplyDeleteI have found my key on my WOTR page, in the EVENTS section
DeletePlease make original wheels for all trucks!
ReplyDeleteAhh I found it - it just took a long time to come through. For those wondering, it shows up in WOT under your 'Events' tab.
ReplyDeleteWhen i bought your games like Scania and ETS2, you where not on STEAM. At that time, you enjoy my money and support.
ReplyDeleteNow, that is not good enough? You are getting very important and let´s shit on everyone?
Shame on you. Maybe you get the reward of those actions in a near future.
JP
What problem do you have against Steam?
DeleteI haven't internet connection on home PC where I playing ETS.
DeleteVery nice scs;)
ReplyDeleteGreat! ♥
ReplyDeleteThat is great news! ...But it got me a little worried. I seriously consider not buying your games in the future if they are only available on Steam. What I mean by this is that I want to have other resellers/distributors to sell future games also. Not only Steam. Sites like Humble Store and Green Man Gaming sell many games that can only be played and activated on Steam. That is something I really hope to happen.
ReplyDeleteAnother question is that will future games be sold also on classic physical copies? I think the best method to do this is to first sell the newly released game and make updates and DLC's available only by activating on Steam or through official update torrents. Later, when it's 100% sure game will not be updated anymore, Collectors edition should be made. That Collectors edition would be sold with every update and DLC integrated. There could be a physical copy and DRM-free digital download. The restrictions of update methods on physical copy should be written clearly on the game cover.
I'm planning to play every SCS truck game ever made starting from Hard Truck: 18 Wheels of Steel to ETS2. I've yet to "complete" ETS2 and both ATS and Euro Coach Simulator coming I will probably not play (I will buy them on first sales though) them until finishing those old games in chronological order. I feel a little bad that there's no place where I could buy the old games. There are many games I already own and some can be bought, but not every game. I have to pirate them if I want to feel the evolution of SCS truck games. It will be an amazing journey through SCS classics to todays competitors.
I used to pirate games. SCS changed that by showing their hard work and hearing the people. Now I only pirate games that don't offer free demo. It has happened many times that I pirate a game to test out and end up buying it. That's why I feel bad to pirate the classic games. Some game developers abandon their old games and tell people to freely pirate them, some try to stop it and some decide to sell them even if they are two decades old.
As I said it will be the best and longest playthrough I have ever done :D
Ok ,ok, STOP the war, Steam user and Non-Steam users. SCS made their decisions, they decided to use Steam, so either we follow, or we stuck with the non-steam version.
ReplyDeleteWe bought the game from the SCS website and NOT from Steam, so the game is OURS and is NOT belong to Steam.
Stop this useless war, you either activate your game on Steam or not. Is a matter of YOUR choice, none will force you to do something you don't want.
You know Linux users are able to play the game if they activate it on Steam.
In every post SCS made, you start arguing Steam or Non Steam, give us a break please.
Personally I don't like Steam. On the other hand, I am able to use a Linux computer and play ETS2 having Steam on Ubuntu, Linux Mint etc etc.
Last but not least, I think you haven't read what SCS wrote :
" But we are not quite so far, the 1.10 update is hitting Steam now, but you can be sure that it will be also available for retail copy of the game in a couple of days."
If you understood what SCS wrote, in the next few days we will be able to download the update which will be including the Metallic Paint Job.
So PLEASE cool down and calm down.
I think that is actually a reason they decided to go fully STEAM. The patches for the non-STEAM version seem to take longer to come out than the STEAM versions.
DeleteRetail patch doesn't include the "Metallic Paint Job".
ReplyDeleteI so far have not seen a compelling reason not to use the steam version. I have a physical disk I can fall back on if they ever did go. Thing is with steam you can't use pirated copies and that's why they are using it. Too much piracy going on with there game at present. When you have Facebook pages showing it. I'm a loyal fan supporting the makers. As for digital download steam and origin are the only 2 big ones
ReplyDeleteI think the complainers usually have illegal copies. Not all though
Here is some instructions for all of us who bought the game from SCS website, on how to get the Metallic PaintJob and any other future updates.
ReplyDelete1. When you bought the game you received in your email the code or codes if you bought the expansion too.
2. Install Steam and use that code (or codes) to activate your game on Steam.
3. Register in World of Trucks.
4. Log in in World of Trucks and you will get a key to use on Steam in order to get the Metallic PaintJob.
5. Enjoy
Excellent been waiting for this now im happy :)

ReplyDelete" " I suggest SCS to keep these physics we have now and call them Arcade physics. " "

patch 1.9.2.4 GPU temp. in game max 60°C
ReplyDeletepatch 1.10 GPU temp. in "lobby" almost 70°C
what will be if i will drive ?- 90°C or 120°C ?
Wtf wot a shit update were is seat adjust you take piss with how long you take to make anything?
ReplyDeletefuck you!
DeleteOk, this is my THIRD post and I wont post again. My previous posts were at 11:40AM and 12:14PM.
ReplyDeleteHere is something to all of you: You do NOT have to buy the game from Steam, you can buy it from SCS software and activate it on Steam. It will download in your pc, if you already installed it, uninstall it and do the procedures I wrote at 12: 14PM.
As a software developer I can understand why SCS choose the Steam method, is for piracy reasons.
We all know what a mess Windows 8 is, guess what, Windows 10 will be on cloud. You are worry that you will have to use Steam to be able to play your game but I bet that you wont have a problem to get the Windows 10 in few years, correct?
You are worrying about your privacy, that the Big Brother will watching you playing your game on Steam. Well, I am pretty sure that the last thing they will want is to "spy" us playing a game, get serious please.
Yes, I am not a supporter of Steam but I just try it and no big deal. ETS2 is working just fine and by activate your game key(s) on Steam there will be no piracy, is piracyproof if I can use a word like that:)
There is no bigger supporter of physical CD's, DVD's etc than me on this planet. If you see my collection you will start thinking how in earth I managed to collect all those. I even have the old diskettes the big ones 53' with the B drive.
I wish all games, software etc were in physical diskettes, CD's, DVD's, BlueRays etc but on the same time I know that there are TWO reasons for software and games companies to prefer to not use those physics.
1. Piracy
2. Costs
Just take a few minutes and think, if you were the owners of SCS Software, what you would prefer? To have to deal with piracy and with costs? Or eliminate piracy and lower the costs so you can offer to people a nice game with no piracy and in a very good price?
I dare you to uninstall ETS2 from your computers and use Steam to install it again. Ok, you will have to start over but is just a game, get your hands on wheels, gamepads and keyboards and STOP thinking all the rests. There is NOTHING to afraid about, you wont loose your privacy by install Steam and activate ETS2 there, you will benefit because you PAYED for the game and you will leave the pirates out and they will NOT be able to use your key to play the game.
As I said I tried ETS2 on Steam, even in Linux too, the game is working just fine, because is not saved on Steam but on your computer. You have to think about Steam as your security lock in order to leave the thieves out.
Good afternoon and please stop worry too much.
Wow, good thinking. Seams reasonable. Thanks!
Deletenot need to unistall from the computer!
DeleteYeah, OP, no need to uninstall the game. Just copy your profile from your My Documents and paste on the new folder.
DeleteA few questions and remarks concerning this blog entry:
ReplyDeleteYou said:
"we really have no alternate delivery and update method for mini-DLCs available."
So a World of Trucks account is a technical requirement without any alternative for getting free content? That does not sound too to me. You rather seem to be trying to exert pressure on those of us who do not want to register at World of Trucks. That approach may work out in some cases, but the only effect such behaviour has on me is that when you bring out a new game, I will probably not be willing to spend any of my money for it. Trying to force people to do unnecessary things is not what I consider service.
Then you stated:
"you can be sure that it will be also available for retail copy of the game in a couple of days."
Just to make sure that I have not misunderstood you: Using Steam infrastructure is the only possible method to deliver small updates and that is why 1.10 will shortly be made available at the official ETS2 website as well? That logic is just incredible.
I seriously start regretting to have purchased Going East! As it was released after you had made your first steps into that Steam-and-World-of-Trucks-only direction, I could actually have anticipated what is happening right now, and be assured: I would not have supported these developments then. And by "shifting all updates and expansions to Steam infrastructure" you will finally manage to drive me (and presumably the vast majority of non-Steam players) away, which will most probably be irretrievable. Congratulations!
Always those typin errors: I meant to write: "That does not sound too logical to me." I don't know how that "logical" could slip away...
DeleteA WoT account is not required at all to play the game, and hopefully will not be. Only STEAM is required. It's easy, fast, and secure.
DeleteThanks for paint SCS!
ReplyDeletenu vet jag att scs är dumma dom ger ut en DLC gratis det är okej men att man skall
ReplyDeletevara medlem på Steam det är idiotiskt fuck SCS
Hi SCS, All nice and funny, but I didn't need the key of World of Trucks! (?) Never needed to type in the key. Just clicked on ETS2, it needed a update, updated itself, and done... Very nice, and huge fun making 'disco' trucks!
ReplyDelete"we really have no alternate delivery and update method for mini-DLCs available."
ReplyDeleteSorry but that's 150% pure bulls###. Everything is possible, point is just of SCS interest and what and how they want to do and release these kind of releases and that's a fact!
Steam just keep catching smaller and bigger companies to their basket and it's sad to see that SCS Software is also gonna be one of them.
When i read first time that SCS Software goes to Steam, that was a sad day. I knew that something like this what we met today (something what you can get from Steam only) is gonna happen sooner or later and that ETS2 goes more and more to Steam only based game.
This Steam only DLC is a sad example what is gonna happen and come at future consider ETS2 and also consider SCS new upcoming games and projects.
Steam really sucks!
DeleteThe Steam is good for some things, but it's not good for companies like SCS, which needs money....
DeleteInterior seat position adjustments ? pLIZZ!!!

Interior seat position adjustments
I'm a Non-Steam user and I don't really mind if Steam users get some small paint jobs/DLC's and early access on upcoming patches as long as Non-Steam user get them. I don't mind waiting a week, a month or two month for a patch that have been beta teste on Steam, as long as I get it I'm happy. But really SCS? Your just going to leave the Non-Steam users? I have activated my product key on Steam. And the only thing I use it for is the MP Mod and if I want to play a (early access/open Beta) on Steam. But I will for sure still be a Non-Steam user.
ReplyDeleteI'm not even gonna bother trying to explain why I don't want to use Steam or why I don't like it, because only us Non-Steam users understand each other. And you guys that use Steam or don't mind it.. You'll never understand it and the same with SCS... They don't understand why we Non-Steam users don't like or want to use Steam.
We can try to explain why but it obviously dosen't matter because only we Non-Steam users will understand it.
I'll support SCS as long as there are updates and map DLC's etc for us Non-Steam users.
Thanks for your time.
-Zark_5c
A big thanks for the Mini DLC. Really appreciate it for this magnificient work.
ReplyDeletepratemsn is totally right, i mean, are you serious SCS? I really like ETS2, so i really want to enjoy the game fully, and i don't want to hate it just because there's no dlc. in fact the steamers get their opportunity to get free dlc's, then, when the dlc's are officially out, we (non-steam users) must pay or even don't know for it?! i understand the Going East! one, but one- or two-optioned dlc's are actually low-profit (but very good!) work.
ReplyDeleteplease, give your best and make the seat adjuster update and maybe (later) the rigid chassis (including AI traffic).
best regards!
Was it really necessary for you to change the mirrors/accessories on the trucks so get the colour from the dds file rather than the base_color line in the sii file for truck skins?
ReplyDeleteNow half of my mirrors have turned white. Only 50 skins left to fix.
Cool! Too bad I don't use steam.I bought my game from Amazon.
ReplyDeleteWhy without removing Majestics and officially release the Mercedes-Benz Actros MP3?!?
ReplyDeleteDear Mr. Viktor Avdejev, this whole "Steam Community" thing is not liked by every player. I paid you the license fee that you asked for the game. Now that entitles me to all updates no matter whether I'm in Steam Community or not..!! Please provide this as an update option in your site as there are thousands of SCS loyalists out there like me who are very well interested in playing the game alone. Doing this sort of repeated activity will only create a rift in your loyalist base and this will only further erode your company's success in the long term (although being an SCS Loyalist, I myself dont want such a thing to happen).
ReplyDeleteHope you understand this as a serious issue and starting with this update, release all updates from your website (even if it is mirrored from 3rd party torrents).
Am i the only one that cant see the 1.10 update on steam? o-o
ReplyDeleteYou should see the 1.10.1s
DeleteLog in Steam, you will see your game, don't click play, click on update
The day SCS move all updates to the Steam infrastructure is the day I stop supporting SCS. Simple as that. Good thing they told us about their plans now, I was going to buy ATS but changed my mind when I read about their coming "Steam only" policy. No more money from me.
ReplyDeleteSame for me, the day they go full Steam only is the day I'll stop supporting SCS. And I also had plans to buy ATS and more DLC's for ETS2, but now I have change my mind.
DeleteMaybe we should vote. Those for steam, those against. If someone knows how to create a voting system, please do so. Sorry but I will not support steam ever. So SCS will lose my money on future dlc's or games
ReplyDeletewhat happens with all my profile and progress if I switch to steam? that was the reason I didn't do it yet.
ReplyDeletecan anyone what risk do I have If I use Steam instead of the normal way?
Thanks!
All your profiles and progres in the game is saved you won't lose any of that at all. But the problem with Steam is if you lose your Steam account for some reasons and don't manage to get it back.. You have then lost ETS2, all the DLC's you have and all the games you have on Steam.
DeleteAnd if ETS2 change to a Steam only game you have to buy the game and DLC's again. It dosen't matter if you have the key from the DVD version, it won't work on another Steam account. (Only if you lose your Steam account).
Trust me.. I have lost 3 Steam accounts, and I had to buy the games again if I wanted to play them again. And the Steam Support Center suck so bad, they don't help you I have tryed to get help from them. Tyred to get my account back, but nope. Din't happen.
Thanks for the reply, but, can I know how you lost 3 steam accounts? do you mean they were stolen from you? you were hacked?
DeleteSorry pratemsn for asking but are you stupid? I mean losing one time is ok it happens. but losing 3 fucking times!! How secure is your password then?. And if you lose your ETS2 key, you should e-mail support to scs. They can confirm it, because your e-mail is saved with the key. And you have the CD box.
DeleteSorry but if you lose 3 times your Steam Account, you should maybe keeping away from the internet. And that's why you have Steamguard: Because you need everytime to confirm if you are loging from a different IP or Computer. I bet you also lost 3 times your e-mail account.
My first Steam account got stolen/hacked, but I manage to get it back with all my games, DLC's etc. But then I had used my Steam account on another computer and then you need a code that you'll get on your e-mail. So when I used my main computer and tryed to loging to my account I needed the code, but I never got it in my e-mail, I only have two oof them and I checked them both. So I tryed to get Help from the Support Center, but they suck so bad so I din't get my account back. So I lost games up to 1000£.
DeleteAnd my second account got stolen, hacked so I tryed to get help by the Support Center again, but they still din't give a f**k. And I also lost games up 800-900£.
My third account, the same thing happened there with the e-mail, and I din't even bother trying to get it back by trying to get help by the Steam Support bullshit... So I lost that one too, and I had used around 1000-1500£.
So theres NO WAY you'll get me to use Steam EVER AGAIN! I lost around 3400 fucking euros! Only on games! And I fucking lost it all.... I'm still soooo fucking pissed off about that.. Thats something I'll never forget.. I'm never going to use Steam again. NEVER!
Just sorry.. I'm just sooo damn pissed off about this Steam bullshit.
DeleteOuh.. 3000 euros that must hurt! I'm sorry for that.
DeleteBut just give some weeks and you will maybe find it on some sharehosters.
The reason why scs recommend steam is just because they don't have an own key generator and autoupdater for the game. And also scs wants to sell as much as possible genuine keys, wich I also unterstand, for keeping the company alive.
Don't blame us (Steamuser) I am also a Ratailer guy. Blame those people for piracy. Because ETS2 is wery easy to get cracked and I am sure about 40 % of the player didn't bought it. Just look at their facebook page on the comments: there are people is asking about key, download, crack , to get updated with 1.9 or couldn't update the game.
Hi SCS,
ReplyDeletewhy is the download only for Steam Users? I don't like the Steam Community. can your give us for DVD-Players the normal Download Link please.
Greetings from Germany

Deletescs accessories hey why does not count. blue cross
ReplyDeletehave 3 color white & red & blue LED are cross 24volt for the truck.
scs why we see onse own rider out on the track
Why always Steam? Because it's easier to you? Sorry, but i don't buy this excuse...
ReplyDeleteYeah easier, best fucking reason EVER to force everyone to use Steam... Thank you SCS...............
DeleteI have a problem now since I activated the Metallic paint job, all my AI Cars now lose their paint texture and go bright red, can anyone help please?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I'm in the minority, but I am not interested in online communities and don't like 3rd parties having access/control over the software on my computer. I generally don't use on-line activation or other schemes that might limit the future use of what I payed for. I made an exception for SCS software to support a small developer and because their games are unique and a lot of fun, and at least the activation was with the same company who created and sold me the game. I still play Grand Prix Legends... and can do so because there is no on-line activation required.... it seems like ETS2 will NOT become one of those classic games that I Iove to play many years after support has ended... especially if WOT and STEAM keep becoming requirements to keep the game up to date, or even useable at all.
ReplyDeleteAs long as I can continue to get game patches and major DLCs (even weeks after Steam users) for my non-Steam version, I will gladly continue to support SCS. If ATS is going to require Steam, I am regrettably going to pass and spend my money elsewhere.
Steam users can laugh at me or scratch their heads with disbelief.... but it's a matter of principal for me. I also will never use Apple products (iTunes, etc.) or Amazon Kindle (ebooks).
I agree with you my good sir. I also like those classic games that don't need on -line activation, I don't mind WOT but I'm for sure not using Steam.. And as you said, I also don't mind waiting a week, even a month after the Steam users get a new update.
DeleteQUANTO A ATUALIZAÇÃO DO MULTIPLAYER PARA O EURO 1.10 ASSIM QUE INSTALOU O MULTIPLAYER NA FUNCIONA ENTÃO QUANDO VAO ATUALIZAR PARA SOLUCIONAR O PROBLEMA.
ReplyDeleteIn the end, even if a game play must be via Steam, I hope you will adopt the two kinds of "retail copy" and "digital download" for sales method in your future products.
ReplyDeleteBecause I love REAL STUFF. (Paper boxes or DVD tall cases, CD/DVD-ROM media and Printed manuals...)

Come on guys, get serious. Steam or Non-Steam arguments is always like the Third World War.
ReplyDeleteOn one side there are the Steam supporters, on the other side there are the Non-Steam supporters and in the middle there are the neutrals.
Do not buy your game from Steam just activate it on Steam, make all the updates and then use the offline mode and every time you will want to play ETS2 click on the ets2 icon on your desktop and then choose " START IN OFFLINE MODE".
There is no big deal to activate your game on Steam and since you bought it from SCS web site, then save that DLC download in an external hard drive so you have your backup. Also, to those who have the physical disk (CD, DVD) , instead of install it on their pc with the DVD, they can use their key to activate the game on Steam and keep their DVD into their drawer as a backup.
Also, those people who has been hacked on Steam, well, let me tell you few good tips.
1. Make sure your password is unique and secure enough
2. Verify your email address
3. In case you 'll notice something is not right, notify immediately SCS
None said that you have to buy the game from Steam. Buy it from the SCS site and use Steam to activate the game and make all the updates etc.
Use the offline mode and you are ok. Every time you will want to play ETS2, click on the desktop icon and choose " START IN OFFLINE MODE".
Keep using the offline mode and only when you will noticed there are updates for ETS2, then and only then go online on Steam to get the updates and then go to offline mode again.
I cannot understand your reactions, you act like children. Get serious.
"3. In case you 'll notice something is not right, notify immediately SCS"
DeleteIf problem is caused because of Steam and not because of original product, problem solving and fixing goes to Valve/Steam. Sorry, but SCS can't do nothing at that point!
"We do not plan to leave anybody behind; all genuine Product Keys we have ever issued for Euro Truck Simulator 2 can activate the game on Steam."
ReplyDeleteNobody except non-Steamers, eh? Reading some of the pro-Steam posts on here, it seems more logical to leave them behind, since most of them clearly demonstrate a noticeable lack of common sense.
@AnonymousMay 21, 2014 at 10:23 AM
DeleteAre you retarded or just plain stupid?
The post you quoted exactly answers your concern. Just activate your damn key on Steam.
ghtztrth
ReplyDeleteDear Mr. Avdejev,
ReplyDeletebig words that no one can believe in! Where are the announced features like adjustable seats an dmany more?! I looked for the metallic paintjobs and realized, you take money for any small flag paintjob?!?! Indeed, therefore steam is the future platform!
So your decision is to escape in the steam of STEAM and left fans and enthusiastic users like me behind, who bought GTS, Scania Driver, ETS, ETS2 ... in stores an CD/DVD and never bethink to be a pirate!
So my decision is, not to follow you and never spent any money to support SCS in the future.
I adjusted the fifth wheel parameter but couldn't find out what it changes.
ReplyDeleteYou should focus on putting a drag coefficient parameter, so I can adjust it to achieve more realistic higher speed accelerations. Please consider allowing us to adjust drag coefficient parameter. That is the key parameter on the way to perfect simulator!
just downloaded now i'll install it...
ReplyDeletealways a good feeling when a new patch comes out
thank you scs :)
why i cant play ets2 in steam when i start game become messege steam - error
ReplyDeleteFailed to Start Game (Missing Executable)?
sorry, application is already running*
DeleteWrite Steam customer service and ask them.
DeleteIt menas that you have files which are missing in the installation folder. I suggest to you to unistall the game and then download it again from steam.
DeleteWelcome to world of Steam :)
DeleteThat's a shame for me as I physically can't run any game through steam on my computer. It has its own intel graphics card and Nvidea graphics card. So if i try to run through steam it will only run off the intel and not the nvidea. So it just ruins it for me. Please just do it seperatly for non-steam users!!!
ReplyDeleteCAN SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE when I download the file I double click it on desktop then a message comes up windows cannot open the folder thanks
ReplyDeleteLet’s resume the situation. We have the opportunity to buy directly the game on SCS website. From the release of ETS2, in October 2012, there is no other requirement than buying the game, downloading it, installing it, and playing it.
ReplyDeleteBut now, SCS is “seriously considering shifting all updates and expansions to Steam”. In others words, anybody will be forced to go through Steam to have a game properly working.
This is an unfair commercial behaviour, shame on you SCS for this.
Moreover, on the “BUY” page of your website, you clearly mention “No additional downloads”.
Yet, considering the fact that Steam requires the download and installation of the Steam Software, you will be then in opposition with your own selling conditions!
I consider this is a labelling con. The goods are clearly not what they are represented as being.
Where is the Welsh flags pack because i have seen the scotish uk and irish flag packs but no welsh flags whats with this?
ReplyDeleteWhen you implent the Seat-Adjuster?
ReplyDeleteETS2 bought the game and not the official site for the STEAM crap. I'm disappointed which makes pachs and place to download the Steam. Because my game is unique along with the DLC. I went on Steam put the same password official game, downloaded and installed again, works for the Steam crap, but the DLC not have the password for the DLC that was sent to me by email, but I can not install the DLC through Steam . The game is only normal with ETS2 without any DLC. Which is to say, I can not download shit for Steam. Please SCS put a bit of respect to those who bought the original game at Site 2 and Euro Truck to post the full patch as well as the textures that put the fucking Steam.
ReplyDelete
