Iberia: Madrid

A trip to Spain is not complete without a visit to the country's capital city, Madrid! Located practically near the geographic center of the peninsula, Madrid is home to the Spanish Royal Family, lots of historical architecture, and two world-famous football clubs.

Today we are happy to share with you these new images from our upcoming Iberia DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2, which will also feature our new visual lighting implementation. Please keep in mind, however, both the lighting and map expansion seen in these shots are still 'work in progress' and may not represent the final product at the time of release. However, we hope you enjoy them!

So what awaits drivers who visit Spain's most populous city? The city of Madrid will feature accurately-created highways, famous stadiums such as the "Coliseum Alfonso Pérez" and a range of industries for drivers to discover and deliver cargo to. From food markets to railway terminals and truck factories, drivers will find no shortage of contracts to help contribute to the local economy.

With sunshine, beautiful city views, and deliveries to be made, we are sure Madrid will be one of the top destinations on your list to visit when Iberia releases. Do you recognize any of the areas featured in these images? Let us know!

Excited about the release of Iberia? Then don't forget to add it to your Steam Wishlist! It really helps support us for future releases for our trucking titles.

1.40: New Mexico & Oregon Viewpoints

Back in October last year, Update 1.39 for American Truck Simulator saw the arrival of viewpoints to the states of Washington and Utah after their popular debut in Idaho! Today we are happy to share with you that our next 1.40 update for ATS will see the introduction of more viewpoints in the states of New Mexico & Oregon

For newer players of our titles, Viewpoints are certain spots found across the map, where drivers can activate a special in-game "cutscene" with a short showcase of a near location or place of interest.  These can be found displayed as a grey question mark on your GPS, so be sure to stop and discover them on your journeys. You also have the option to skip the viewpoint or replay it if you wish to watch it again.

From populated cities to historic monuments, each viewpoint highlights a point of interest or industry, so make sure to discover them all!

Vive la France ! DLC: Iberia Connections

With the upcoming release of the Iberia expansion for Euro Truck Simulator 2, we know that many drivers will be excited to progressively make their way down Europe to cross into the peninsula for the first time. With France being mainland Europe's gateway to Spain and Portugal, our team is currently developing 2 new French locations which will be a part of a free update to the Vive La France ! DLC in the future.

The first being the city of Bayonne, located in the southwest of France; it is the capital of the French Basque Country and an important connection for drivers heading to Spain as it is located close to the border. Bayonne will also feature local industries from which drivers can deliver to and from.

The second location will be the smaller commune of Lacq, which is located in the Arrondissement of Pau. While this small village will just be a scenic drive-through for most, there is one major industry that is located there. The industrial complex was built after the discovery of one of the greatest natural gas fields in the world. Today Lacq is home to the largest refinery in France and is one of the world’s largest sulfur producers and exporters.

Both of these areas plus two new connecting junctions in Toulouse and Bordeaux will come as a free update to the Vive La France ! DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2 when the Iberia DLC is released. Please keep in mind that all of these screenshots you see here today are work in progress, both in terms of development and the new visual lighting system present.

If you haven't already, check out the Vive la France ! DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2; and add the Iberia DLC to your Steam Wishlist. It really helps support the development of our DLC's and we thank you for your support if you have chosen to already.

Christmas Wise Giving Update

Happy New Year! We hope you found time to enjoy the festive period and time to relax and settle down with a cup of your favorite hot drink. However, we know that many of you continued to work hard over the Christmas period as you took part in our #XmasWiseGiving World of Trucks event!

With brightly-decorated Christmas gift trailers and festively-painted trucks, drivers from across the world came together to help deliver gifts across the Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator with a goal to achieve, and on the 27th of December you, our #BestCommunityEver, completed the community goal!

Thanks to all your deliveries and hard work, you have unlocked the final tier of the community goals! If you have completed your personal goals, you will be able to claim your rewards under the Events tab on the My Page section of WorldofTrucks.com

If you still have not found the time to complete all your deliveries or have yet to start, don't panic! You will have until 23:59 UTC on the 17th of January 2021 to complete the event with the special gift trailers, using the World of Trucks external contracts and earning festive rewards for your truck exterior and cabin. If you have only just found out about our event, you can find more information about how to take part here

Another event that has been running since early November is the #CruisingColorado event, in which you can earn free rewards for delivering to and from cities in our latest expansion for American Truck Simulator. Even though the community goal was reached within a week, we wanted to make sure that drivers could complete at their own pace. This event will also end on the 17th of January 2021 at 23:59 UTC, you can read the rules and find out how you can participate in this event here.

We look forward to bringing you lots of exciting content for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator in this new year and we look forward to sharing development news in the near future.
