ETS2 Translators needed

Community translation of ETS2 has been under way for some time behind the scenes already, and several languages are now reported as 100% complete. We have privately invited major contributors from our previous translations, and they are doing a fabulous job.

We are still tweaking things extensively in the game based on tester's feedback, so strings are changed or added frequently. Our translators fortunately are quite patient with us so far when "breaking" their translations this way.

Unlike with the previous projects, this time we do not intend to open up the translation system to just anybody. It was causing problems with too much "noise" and sometimes even malicious abuse of the system.

We are now ready to bring in more translators for languages which haven't got enough contributions yet, and we would kindly like to ask more of you for help.

The languages we need help with are: all Nordic languages, Spanish, Portuguese, Ukrainian and Balkan languages. We DO NOT need any help though with German, Polish, Hungarian, Czech, Romanian, Silesian (yes, we are ready to cover even "small" languages if we find dedicated contributors, Basque anyone?), Italian, and French. We are setting the per-language maximum to 3 people to allow for productive discussion in smaller circles of dedicated people.

What we are looking for: mature approach, solid language skills, excellent English language comprehension, and team spirit. Experience with previous community translations a plus, provable history of community participation a big benefit, too.

What you are getting in exchange? This is a volunteer activity with no compensation, so the most you can get is feeling good about helping your favorite game to be available to players in your own language. We have a history of expressing gratitude to people helping us out by giving out free activation codes for our games (for Scania TDS help we have gifted over 100 free copies of the game), but this is really up to our discretion if we see that the quality (most important criteria) and the overall effort really were a solid contribution.

How does it work? Take a look at Scania TDS translation project.

Please do not respond to this plea here in the comments, DO NOT expose your e-mail or any other contact info here on the blog. If you have read and taken in the whole info above and still want to help, get in touch with us instead on our mail info at scssoft dot com.

Thanks!

    1. As they have stated before, the release of the game is not the end of development. There will be future addons for the game, like STDS, and new languages would be a logical thing to add in future patches ;) .

Well, since a lot of people are posting in their own language, I'll do the same... =| Besides, this is a topic about languages, isn't it =P.

  18. Dear SCS
I have some good ideas for ETS2 to improve the game
So if your interested in them please reply to this comment

    1. Openable windows
    2. Birds flying around
    3.Sun roof

The ideas add realisum and function.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Also junction numbers.

    2. Ideas 1 and 3 are completely useless, but idea 2, in combination with wipers, sounds entertaining. Yum yum.

      Delete
    3. 2. Is already there..

      Delete
    4. And 3 is already there...

      Delete
    5. The only realism opening windows adds is the sound of the truck's engine going through a tunnel <3

Personally, I'd like to see you work your way up the licences, so starting in a rigid vehicle, and going up to an arctic, then perhaps getting your STGO's (in UK atleast)..

But I am prepared to wait, because it doesn't bother me. As long as they release a game built to the best of their ability, I am very happy indeed :)

      Delete
    6. How about more realism, like waiting for a door/dock or as you may know it: a place to park the truck, like waiting up to 24 hours.

      - getting a ticket if you drive in Germany on sundays

      - better reinforced law of europeen country.

Nobody care about openable windows, especially truck drivers. I've seen truck driver backing their trailer with their doors opened, how come nobody ask for that option?

Seriously, the only time a truck driver open is window to back it up is either he's new to the job, or there is snow on the window blocking the view. Since there is no snow in this game, we dont need openable windows

      Delete
    7. You people don't seem to understand what kind of purpopse something like openable window would serve. If you have any sort of experience wiht hardcore simulator games, you would know that there are tons of small objects and details to tinker with. Take a WW2 fighter plane simulator (a good one), you can fiddle around with stuff in the cockpit that some of it doesn't even do anything. But that is how feeling of realism is transferred to the player, when the game around him isn't just some static textures, but something you can interact with. I am not saying openable window is something that is needed, but I laugh at people who are being smart ass about those things. That's my two cents, bye.

At the end it said put down your pen and dont answer any questions. 90% of the class answered all the questions lol.. It seems nothing changes. People dont read all thats said and jump at begging to translate instead of emailing SCS.

It is a lot of mistakes on Latvian, I already thought that the translator helped them. I very much laughed at the word briba :D (in settings of the keyboard) :D instead of b to v generally mistakes is necessary much. On it or Latvian to remove all or to correct mistakes.

If you can't write in excellent English, you don't have solid language skills.

If you can't understand how to get involved, you don't have excellent English language comprehension.
