In one week, the day we have all been looking forward to for so long will finally be here, and the Scandinavia map expansion for Euro Truck Simulator 2 will be released.
What took us so long? It's fair to admit that we have taken much longer to build it than we planned. We are pursuing a lot of goals at the same time, perhaps more than is healthy for a predictable, robust release schedule.
In the past two years, we have doubled the man-power in the company, but we have quadrupled the number of projects we try to handle at the same time. Some of the focus was traded for wider reach. We are committed to expanding ETS2 world with more areas, we have started working on American Truck Simulator, we have several people working on coach buses project, we have the long-term vision for World of Trucks to become the ultimate trucking meta-game with persistent massive-multiplayer online capabilities. We have experimented with virtual reality, we dedicated time to create better tools for the modders, we talk to way more transportation-related companies now about having their brands appear in our games. In the middle of this all, a core team of engineers is constantly working on upgrading our in-house game engine, to improve the graphics and sound capabilities, teach the AI new tricks, make the physics simulation more detailed, while introducing new features and tools for the content creation team - only to have them live through the pain of having to re-do parts of the work to upgrade to the new data formats and processes.
We thought that after over 15 years of making games, we were quite experienced, but switching from the mode of small company with a start-up mindset into a bigger multi-project team has not been an easy ride; obviously we still have a lot to learn. The good thing is, we are still around, stronger than ever, with multiple projects staffed by passionate development teams who want to see them through to completion, and even if the wait was long, we still managed to nurture a very loyal hardcore fan community motivating us in turn to keep pushing.
The next few days are going to be very hectic for us. We are still polishing the 1.17 update to be released early next week, we are working on zero-day update for Scandinavia to make sure it's as optimized as possible on release, we are preparing to re-launch the Euro Truck Simulator 2 website with all new presentation graphics, we have to orchestrate the release of multiple "SKUs" across many digital and retail channels, while loudly trumpeting the PR message that the Scandinavia DLC is better than sliced bread. (Not to speak about having to arrange for an open beta test of update 1.18 which will start immediately after Scandinavia release, wink wink, so that the Mercedes-Benz New Actros truck is introduced into the game at last without additional delays!)
What can you do for us to help spread the message and make Scandinavia a success? Add Scandinavia DLC to your wishlist on its Steam store page, check out and like the new official promotional trailer embedded below, follow us on our SCS Software Twitter account, like us on our Facebook page and make an account on World of Trucks if you haven't done so already, register on forum and give us feedback on the currently running Open Beta of ETS2 1.17 update, pester your favorite star YouTuber or streamer to take a look at our game!
Also, if you live nearby, come to Truckfest Peterborough to say "Hi!" and meet SCS Software's CEO Pavel Sebor in the DAF Showtrekker trailer - a presentation of DAF Euro 6 truck as featured in the latest version of Euro Truck Simulator 2 will be taking place there with Pavel as a guest.

Wish I hadn't watched the trailer now...I want it now :)
DeleteWell done SCS/Pavel , you guys are doing a great job :)
ReplyDeleteYou guys at scs are awesome 0_o I'm lost for words...
ReplyDeleteVery cool. I must say that i am very interested in every projects you are working on.
ReplyDeleteCan´t wait to get them all :)
Congratulations to all SCS team
Cheers from Portugal
Very good post SCS, well done, good PR. I am glad that the more you talk about current projects. I am also glad that you are doing several things at once. In particular, I reminded you of ridig truck, because it is in my opinion the most interesting projects. I have preordered Scandinavia DLC some time ago, I'm sure it is great. I also can't wait new Mercedes and trailers, which I can see in the beta mode. Keep it up.
ReplyDeletenice, and of course , finaly ..and on other hand great work ! ;)
ReplyDeleteSCS Please make a more realistic job prices. Make more realistic cool truck suspension and physics. Realistic all truck sounds(especially realistic retarder sounds). Really very low weights( a helicopter 3 tonnes and a yatch 6 tonnes not that realistic) Make more heavier loads or Increase the current load weight. Make a long and dark nights. Sunset too late not that realistic. Set up later early sunset. And the time interval is too short and fast. Make real time. Truck I ever drove 400,000 kilometers. So I played this game for a long time. and I would like a more realistic simulation. SCS I hope will make a real simulation of more than. Meanwhile, very nice update(1.17). I'm a SCS's all updates and DLC bought and I will buy Scandinavia DLC.
ReplyDeleteThere is a way for you to earn less money in the game and it's not a mod. I would strongly advise you use your 7zip or WinRAR program to back up your profile. That done, go into your profile and open the config file and look for 'income factor'. The present value is 1.0 but you can alter it anywhere from 0.1, which is ridiculous by the way, or you can set it to 0.75 which will give you 3/4 of the amount you would have otherwise earned. You can play around with it however you like. BTW it doesn't work the other direction eg you can't make the value 2.0 to get twice as much money, just any amount less than 1.0, personally I am quite happy with it as it is. It's hard enough when you first start off, not having any skills like Long Distance. I don't know, maybe if you make it harder to achieve the skills when you start out and reduce the loan amounts in the games it would make it more complex, who knows:-))
DeleteAll i can say is EPIC TRAILER AND MUSIC LOL!
ReplyDeleteTHX SCS
ReplyDeleteAll the best for a successful release. Am looking forward to supply-chain-based industries.
ReplyDeleteWell done can't wait.
ReplyDeleteLovely, I am getting that DLC.
ReplyDeleteToo bad the DLC can't be pre-ordered so it's automatically downloaded to my computer once it is released..
ReplyDeleteBut I can't wait for the DLC and the upcoming 1.18 open beta.
1.18 will be one for the history books as it will finally see Mercedes-Benz with the official logo, for the first time since ETS2 was first released, no mod required forever. I wish we could drive trucks that aren't articulated, then we could have some Japanese and Korean trucks. There are some Russian trucks that are articulated, maybe we could have them:-))
DeleteSCS you are doing a so good job that I wish you a great success and a long life in the truck gaming world. Cheers from France
ReplyDeleteDear SCS! Wonderful work on the DLC and every other product, we can't wait!
ReplyDeletereddit.com/r/trucksim is behind your back!
SCS you should consider your part in one of the biggest truck show in Poland. In this year it will be 17-19.07.2015 nera my hometown - Opole. It's not far away from Czech, we have about 100 km to the border. It is good oportunity for advertising. Please check the link: http://www.mastertruck.pl/
ReplyDeleteYes its great truck show I'm from Opole and I was there last year. You should come.
Deletecan u tell the price? i have make mony for 7th may

I'll buy another DLC Scandinavia for the second CD.
And I already have dlc Going East on Steam and other CD
Watch election result, or play Scandinavia DLC.
ReplyDeleteScandinavia it is.
Scandinavia for me too
DeleteI need to buy this at the release date!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks great, thumbs up, but.. why didnt you still make better weather (like snowing) ? It is Scandinavia! :)
ReplyDeleteSCS can you also come to truckfest scotland?
ReplyDeleteone weeeeek :-) btw check my profile ;-) https://worldoftrucks.com/en/image_detail.php?id=00000000000E8A18&back=online_profile.php%3Fid%3D30659
ReplyDeleteOn steam it says as well as Scania there will be a Volvo plant. According to Google, it seems most likely this will be in Goteborg like the real one, but unlike Sodertalje, a city devoted to Scania, on any map I see no other city near Goteborg. Will it just be in the city itself? I'm suprised you didn't market this as much as the Scania one. Is it even true?
ReplyDeleteMatt in Manchester
is it a mod ore uptate
ReplyDeleteIt's an official DLC, so you buy it and it adds the Scandinavia area to your game and you get to keep your progress. Out on May 7. American Truck Simulator is a separate game. Hope this helps

Deletevery good job with this beta but still there are many bugs in it, hope until release all the glitches to be fixed. the worst problem is the tone of the sky in the night...as reported from many others before, and the sunset appears a little to late:
ReplyDelete" ran a night run from Hungary to Slovenia and the only thing i will say it was very light until 2am and then not really dark and very light around 3:30 am "
" It's 12am and looks more like dusk. The new sky box looks amazing if intentionally been taking runs around the twilight hours just to watch the light change from day>night and vice versa. I do wish it would get a little darker at night "
It-s not a problem for me an extra delay, if you could do it better and more realistic.
And for the future please consider adding the following:
- REALISTIC prices and EARNINGS (PROFIT per job IS TOO HIGH on high levels >> reduce the bonus % and the base earning too)
- some AI (not too many) entering-exiting from companies, hotels, even from repair centers
- signing the custom papers (and showing them at customs)
- vary (random) the tax demanded on barriers-customs, and also the VAT loan
- improve the FPS further on highend PCs, without alter the actual graphics
- also improve some terrain-decors (ex: quarry rocks look painfull )
---LOAD/UNLOAD the truck (a 4-5 seconds video as SNEAK-PEEK )
---MULTI-POINT DELIVERIES and tandem trucks !
---Realistic connection for trailer with players interaction
Lol you can wait for 10 years

DeleteChill out. You will have a chance to buy the non Steam version of this DLC on http://eurotrucksimulator2.com/buy.php it's not there yet, but will be.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
Deletechill down again, retail version will exist forward ! (at least, i hope so.)
DeleteFor Scandinavia is 1000% sure, but I'm sure the future map DLC ( Iberic maybe) will be released as retail also.

DeleteRead very carefully this post: http://blog.scssoft.com/2015/04/non-steam-version-of-ets2-stays-around.html especially this: "The non-Steam edition of the Euro Truck Simulator 2 and both map expansions will continue to exist, they will be available for purchase exclusively from the official game website at http://www.eurotrucksimulator2.com " That's all. You will have a chance to buy it, don't worry.
DeleteAce Tucker, I agree with you.
DeleteI own two discs, both disks are ETS2.
I have two DLC Going East.
One key've reported the steam although opposed.
Unfortunately it is not just how much they care about the customer.
They have me step back from the SCS forum. Of course I have not insulted anyone in the forum, the only dispute was that I wrote that appeared illegal version of the game.
Unfortunately I had to sign another key on Steam to be able to enjoy the delights of great games that has ever made employing.
You have my full support.
Greetings from Serbia.
I apologize for the very bad English.
***Google Translate***
The fact that you have the original game on CD with key, does not mean that this key has not been used. If you bought the game from someone who has used it before, at 99% percentage you can be sure that someone has used this key to Steam. If so, it means that you really do not have a good key. Therefore, it is not worth buying games from other players who have used them before.
DeleteNo, I'm not buying from another user, but I went to the store and buying the first disc and after two or three months ago bought another disc.
DeleteSorry, after eight months, I bought another disc, ETS2 + Going East.
DeleteI'm sorry, but I don't understand your issue. If you had a problem with key on Steam and you have bought it legally, why didn't you explain it with the seller or Steam? If I were you I wouldent buy another game till explain this situation.
DeleteMine was a different situation. I bought the original game on disc in 2014. By this time there were a lot of updates. I got the updates from the ETS2 website, it was the updates 1.01 to 1.12 batch but they wouldn't work at least on my PC at the time so I thought I would try to use Steam. I then had a problem with using my key from my brand new disc copy of the original game to get a Steam key. The game key wasn't recognized by Steam. After several attempts I gave up and trashed the discs lost all my progress, and bought the game plus Going East from Steam. Up until this point I couldn't have been more anti Steam. But guess what, I bought the fully updated game on Steam plus the Going East which Steam installed and the game worked perfectly. Now I am a Steam convert. I could play offline but now that there is World of Trucks, I like to be connected.
DeleteA simple explanation, there are people who are collectors.
DeleteI had to move to Steam because you started to disc our customers to deny the novelties
I apologize for bad English.
Delete**********Google Translate**********
Let me get this right so scs wants people to buy there box version with only a peace of paper inside? they can go to hell along with anyone who supports this crap.
Deletecan you use this mod on the steam version
ReplyDeleteI do not understand, the new model of Mercedes is included in this upgrade???? will come in 7 may?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteNo. The update that will come out when the Scandinavian DLC comes out is 1.17. The open beta testing of 1.18 is starting. 1.18 is the update that has the official Mercedes-Benz license trucks will appear with the official Mercedes logo. Shortly after the DLC comes out, as soon as the beta testing period is finished, they will release the update.
DeleteI don't want to see the word majestic ever again

ReplyDelete17,99€ ? Jew mad ?
ReplyDeleteWhat about Coach Simulator ???? We want news about it !!!
ReplyDeleteI first heard about the Coach Simulator from watching a video by Squirrel when he interviewed Pavel Sebor when SCS launched Going East DLC and they are still working on it, getting the coaches made. The game will most likely be a DLC of Euro Truck with separate gameplay that can't be played at the same time. I don't know exactly how it will work, but I am looking forward to it too:-))
Deletenew function for future:
ReplyDeletemultiselect for working with trucks and drivers. for example i would like to sell all my trucks and then buy for all my drivers new. now it takes a long time :-(
i though this update was going to be free scs Scandinavia DLC, while the livestock trailer and truck carriers should be a part of a new free game update for all users. This update will go out in sync with the release
ReplyDeleteThe update is free, but the Scandinavian DLC has a cost. If you realize how much work went into making the map, you know why it can't be free:-)
DeleteVery great job, SCS! I'm looking forward to Scandinavia! I love ETS 2 and play it every day The best game ever!
ReplyDeleteWill the non-steam version be available on 7th too or do we have to wait for it again?
ReplyDeleteWhat non-Steam version, there isn't one !!!!!

DeleteStop trolling!!!!! If you don't like ets2 which you clearly said you don't then fuk off......simple!!!!! I happen to love this game.....you clearly have no idea what goes into making a sim it's not easy......if you think it is give it a go.....I'm sure your good enough......

DeleteGood luck mate,in your years of Isolation.
ReplyDeleteIf you get a partnership with Megabus to get one of the VanHool double deckers (perhaps even the Megabus Gold service), that would be insanely awesome. I could definitely imagine myself driving a Megabus around Europe.
ReplyDeleteplease reply me 10 euro or 19 euro the price?
ReplyDelete17.99 Euros
Delete1276.55 indian rupee :) so i have to do some extra time job. i will make this mony in 2 months then i will also buy :)
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteDont exactly know....18 euros i think
ReplyDeleteI am going to love the Scandinavian DLC. My only criticism of the map is that they left out the Scania Test Track. That is one of the most important things that Scania do is use the track for testing the trucks before they are sold. However, the rest of the map will be awesome and we will be able to carry Scanias on a trailer as a job. OK so call me a Scania fanboy, doesn't matter.
ReplyDeleteI do have some suggestions for improvements in the game starting with:
1. When are they going to do the rest of Eastern Europe?
Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Moldova, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Albania, and Montenegro, not to mention the rest of France, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Finland, Iceland, just to name several
I agree with a post that mentioned the fact that sunset occurs way too late. Sunrise seems to be OK and the fact that it doesn't get dark enough from midnight on.
The number of times I have been rear-ended by an AI truck or car because I couldn't see the headlights at night. AI headlights should be way more visible. If it is possible for our trucks to have powerful headlights, I don't see the problem in increasing the AI visibility
There is another post I agree with that said that it is totally unrealistic for our trucks to be the only trucks going in and out of companies loading docks. They don't necessarily have to do anything like what we do, but it would be nice if we could see them entering and exiting the loading docks and maybe make us wait a little while for a space to open up for our drop off or pick up.
One final thing, please open up the airports in the game, put pick up points at the airports.
Could you also open the blocked roads that are all over the map. Why you have blocked roads in the new DLC I don't know. If you make a map why don't you open all of it up, make it more like a sandbox so if we just feel like driving without a load for a while, I don't see why we can't use the whole map, for heavens sake the game rewards us for free roaming, so let us free roam all over Europe if we want:-))
All that said, Euro Truck Simulator 2 is the best game I ever played. It has taken over from FSX as my favorite game of all time. Although I still play FSX, ETS2 is better.
Why are SCS releasing this at midnight on a Friday, some of us work fulltime you know and will be in bed then, we aren't all schoolchildren you know, SCS!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteRefuse to buy this before the new tunnel models are fixed. They are terrible and nowhere near realistic.
ReplyDeleteWrong lights that look like emergency lights, they should be in the ceiling. Markers along the wall are first of all white and black, and second they are pretty much gone today. Broken ones are removed and not replaced. The black smooth surface texture model I have never in my life seen. Should be replaced with a more modern tunnel look. Tunnel portal look like a cheap version of some portals built in the 60s. They are quite different today.
18 eur? I hope it's only a joke...
ReplyDeleteI have purchased and install Euro Truck Simulator 2 scandinavia.
ReplyDeleteWhy can I not run in Denmark, Norway and Sweden?
For I can not start and run for one of these three landen.
Let me get this right so scs wants people to buy there box version with only a peace of paper inside? they can go to hell along with anyone who supports this crap.
ReplyDeleteHaving now gone to Steam and played the game with the new Scandinavian map, I'd urge you to reconsider Patrick. Digital download is the way of the future, and people like us who want to have shelves full of CD and DVD boxes are dinosaurs now. Look at the way film is changing with people watching through Netflix. I swore I wouldn't play ETS2 again, but believe me if you don't, you're the one losing out as it only gets better with each update. I'm not old, but I'm not in good health and don't know if I'll be here to see the next add-on, so I'll just say this - life is way too short, download the add-on and enjoy it :)
