Euro Truck Simulator 2 - 1.17 Update is available now!


We are delighted to announce that as of now the 1.17 update is available. While Steam players are getting it automatically right away, as always, it will take us another day to complete and release the non-Steam game build.

The public beta for 1.17 was a massive success for us. Plenty of bugs we could not foresee were found by the community. We much appreciate your support and dedication!

Let us do a short recap of major items in the 1.17 update:
  • New weather and lighting setup
  • New sounds for DAF XF Euro 6
  • New drivers, new driver art
  • Tires and rims turned into independent accessories
  • Added six-wheeled chassis for both Renault Magnum and Premium
  • Better support for retina displays (OSX)
  • Traffic AI behavior improvements
  • Improved engine performance and stability
  • Improved support for multi-monitor systems
  • A full list of modding changes can be found here.

We'll see how the wide-scale rollout of 1.17 fares, there is always the danger of a need for a quick hotfix patch, but we think that the game is currently stable and prepared for Scandinavia expansion release in two days, at midnight CEST of May 7, 2015!

      All you are doing now days is renting your game. Steam owns your game you don't. If steam should ever go away so does your game. Do you want to spend your money on a game you don't own? or have a dvd that will last forever.

      I was getting ready to buy the game until i found out it was download only. if i buy a game i want it in my hands. not some download and a promise my game will be there in the future.

      Simple solution, have it on all media. That's what I'm doing, plus getting a copy for the mac and have a usb drive with all the updates so if something should happen to Steam, God forbid, at least I'll have the game.

    I dowloaded new Update 1.17.1s !

    And when I start Icon in BIN folder for 64x bit version .... it does not work ... it works on 32x bit .... lol

    on Steam works ok ....

    why we do not have start Icon for 64bit version in BIN folder ?? I looked in game.log and result is start in 32 bit !!!

      Go to Library - Games - Euro Truck Simulator 2 - Properties - then, under set launch options, type in '-64bit'. Then you can use the icon as usual.

    So, the problem is apparently that it steam side of the problem, trying to run with the command line parameter "-64bit" steam settings. It works, and the game will open 64bit

    To everyone, who asking about Actros MP4: Mercedes benz Actrons MP4 and license for Mercedes logo will be available in update 1.18 'shortly after DLC Scandinavia relase' as said SCS. So, keep calm people, it's almost there. :)

    Dear SCS thank you for update. Unfortunatelly I have serious problem with ETS2 right now, because of this update... Please take a look :

    I had and have NO MODS that could do this. In past I only tested custom paintjobs but kept save games clean from mods.

    Other thing is that game works laggy and this suprises me as it worked fine in past.
    The only thing that I know for sure right now, is that I'm getting more and more angry and got headache ;/

      So for now situation looks like this : I've spent ALL DAY LONG thinking what's wrong... I reinstalled game, lowered settings to max (pixels rulez) and still nothing BUT I found out that there's something wrong with game performance too... Why?
      When I started playing ETS2 after premiere game was running smooth at default settings... From some time it started being laggy (I did not change anything about graphics in options).
      The funny thing is it's laggy in main menu or in city... I understand city, many objects, vehicles etc... but main menu with only one truck? O.o
      GTA IV works better for me (this game is known for bad optimalisation for PC and "funny things" after premiere)

    I'm confused, aren't the new sunrise/sunset part of the new Scandinavian DLC. Also, I hate to sound like I'm complaining, but that night is WAY too bright and lighting and reflections at night look unrealistic.

      The new mercedes should be here in version 1.18:
      "Not to speak about having to arrange for an open beta test of update 1.18 which will start immediately after Scandinavia release, wink wink, so that the Mercedes-Benz New Actros truck is introduced into the game at last without additional delays!"

    With the new update, all the windows in the buildings are purple. Why is that. And when I drive from Rotterdam to Brussels, as soon as I drive onto the bridge just after leaving Rotterdam, the game crashes.

      Im experiencing a very similar problem. Steam updated my game to 1.17.1 today, which I was very happy about, but as soon as I started playing the game, it kept crashing and taking me back to Windows. I have no active mods in the game, deleted them as soon as I saw the update, but that didn't help. Tried playing with the graphic settings but that didn't help. Set up a new profile in the game, as I thought the game might be picking up mods in old saves, but that didn't help either. The game just kept crashing after a few minutes of playing. Im slowly running out of ideas. Does anyone know what might be wrong in this case? I will be happy with any advice you can give me :D

    SCS just wondering are you going to continue to support Oculus Rift? At the moment i have to disable OR to install 1.17, but as soon as i re-enable OR the game rolls back to 1.16? Am i going to be able to play Scandinavia in OR?

    There's still a major bug with this verson!!! buildings and streets do not load at all, they are just transparent!!! please SCS fix this issue!

      I have a feeling the game is starting to have the same problem with XP that Microsoft is having, not supporting it. With me, it is road markings disappearing and the game is very laggy. I think XP is on the way out as a recognized O/S.

    the work of scs is to be congratulated. But the SCS could attempt to improve the inside of the trucks, as the pedals on automatic trucks that are not 3 but 2, the indicator lights, the illumination of the panel be according to the actual truck, and a very important item that would be realistic, the mirrors are more realistic, more like the real trucks. The Scania could be reworked, inside as it is different from the streamline version and your mirrors are also very different. Another very interesting thing, for those who play with keyboard, joystick and steering wheels with sequential exchange, is able to interfere in trade marches, as well as in real life. In the game it is very good, and the new dlc's'll be getting up to encourage improvements in the game.

    DAF XF EURO 6 disapeared from daf truck dealer.... most of people ask for side skirts on all type of chassis, not only on 4x2.... please fix that... although sounds, truck dehavior and grafics are awesome...

      There was a mod to give 6x4 chassis the sideskirts but it turned some of the trucks bright orange so I had to take it out. SCS should make sideskirts as you said for ALL trucks.

      Go into options in the game then gameplayu options and disable truck speed limiter. The only thing not making your truck any faster then is the gear ratio of your gearbox.

      Yeah me too. IKA looks like IKEA, same logo style, colours. Wondering if these will spread to the rest of Europe as we have IKEA in the UK. Also seen in squirrels video on another post a supermarket that you get jobs from.

    Loving the new skybox. Just driven from Hamburg to Sczeszin, but sometimes (only 2 or 3 times) the sky flickered blank grey, it's never done this before, any one else had this?

      Unfortunately, the opinion you've posted is in digital form and the only way SCS can hear you is if you send them a disc with your opinion recorded in it. You can also record it on tape or write on paper if discs are too modern for you.

    Anyone having problems with steering settings, before update Logitech G27 was set at 780 degrees to give 1:1 with game, update is supposed to be 900 but it's more and G27 won't go any higher, can't sync it with truck steering wheel.

      As they said a few months ago, New Mercedes-Benz Actros truck will be available to all Euro Truck Simulator 2 owners for free as a part of game update shortly after Scandinavia DLC release. Be patient :)

    SCS never set a release date until they gave the date officially.
    Amazon fooled you with fake release dates and suckered you into paying.
    Unless it comes direct from SCS, all release dates are made up.

    So basically you're blaming SCS for Amazon making dates up.

    Для России 9,5 евро дорого, за 5 евро намного больше людей купили бы дополнение. Вот и я буду ждать скидок, так как у меня зарплата 100 евро в месяц. У нас Москва, это не вся Россия, где зарабатывают от 1100 евро в месяц.

    Since the latest update (1.17.1), my Scania is stuck at maximum acceleration no matter what I try, my pedals work perfectly except with ETS2. Tte latest update has issues.

    Quand je vois le travail fait bénévolement par l'équipe de ProMods qui nous a sortie leur dernière carte avec pas moins de 18 pays dont des nouveaux et la création de 90 villes GRATUITEMENT. Et que SCS Scoftware nous sort un tout petit DLC de 26 villes pour 17.99 euros.

    J'aurai payé ce prix la pour le boulot de ProMods pas pour le votre.

    But the frame that was harder to drive away
    Especially inner city ....

    C'est une excellente mise à jour, bravo !
    Gros travail sur le graphisme qui fait merveille sur les petites configuration PC.
    Je ne regrette pas d'avoir peiner à charger ces 1.4Go :) (avec Uploader)

    Beau travail ! dommage que la mise à jour soit si "lourde", un patch 1.16.2 vers le 1.17.1 suffisait, comme pour les patchs précédents...
    Je ne regrette pas non plus le temps de téléchargement, la version "slow" comme son nom l'indique n'est pas rapide, mais sûre comparée aux 2 autres liens qui plantent sans cesse ! Merci !
