Lots of points to touch today...
Gaming Press: Euro Truck Simulator 2 seems to have a hard time grabbing attention of mainstream gaming news sites and media in general. Most reviewers learned to ignore small simulation games, and ETS2 is simply getting the same treatment, even though we managed to convert quite a few people to our side who might think of themselves of hardcore gamers (see for example this long thread on Overclockers). The game hasn't even attracted enough reviews on major sites to be given a ranking on Metacritic.com (see ETS2 page on Metacritic), strangely there are not even any user reviews there. Metacritic happens to be THE games industry website by which games are ultimately measured if they succeeded or failed critically, yet ETS2 doesn't even register on their radar so far. Looks like a potential task for all of us to help with evangelization of ETS2 to the masses ;-).
Steam Greenlight: Being largely ignored by gaming press may also influence things when Valve Steam team is screening games. Even though the game has scored some very nice positions in recent PC games best-selling charts in several European countries, we still don't have an easy path to make it to Steam. Looks like pushing the game through ETS2 Greenlight campaign is our only hope. Putting a little note into ETS2 in-game news on the Profile screen has helped a bit - we are getting more votes every day now than a week or two agoc- however, we did not really jump much higher in the queue.
Patch: We expect to do the "freeze" on code & assets for the planned ETS2 update tomorrow, and have it tested and ready for release by the end of the week. The patch will include numerous fixes and little improvements, the volume of feedback from you was huge and we managed to address hundreds of little things that were reported, even though there are still hundreds more to look into, not to speak about the big things on peoples' wishlists. Stay with us, there are more updates in the plans, we definitely plan to improve the "core" game for many many months (and in the next blog update we may discuss our options for expansions ;-) ).
New Translations: The new game update will also include several new languages, we are well on the way to add Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese. Recent changes in the game required adding a few new strings, so if you are one of our ETS2 GetLocalization loyals, please check your language again.
New servers: We still don't have much actual sales data available for ETS2 retail sales, usually data are reported quarterly, so we just rely in our guesswork on publicly available best-selling games charts to give us a clue. Anyway the anticipation of success on the market for ETS2 has given us confidence to have two new servers installed at our ISP. In the coming days we plan to finally launch official SCS Software message board to be able to interact better with the fan community and to give you a better way to discuss our games.

Looking forward to the patch, thanks for the tip off about the thread on Overclockers, I'm a long time member there but rarely venture into the games threads, keep up the good work with this fantastic sim.

DeleteI would love to get a response from my email about my corrupted save file :( But the new patch may well solve the problem!
ReplyDeleteI'm not really surprised that ETS2 is being ignored by mainstream, as it is a truck simulation after all, and that is hardly the norm for most gamers. That being said, as someone who is not really a truck fan, I think they're missing out by ignoring this title.
ReplyDeleteAs for bugs, I haven't stumbled across anything major, but there are some annoying issues. One is the lack of proper - non-performance killing - anti-aliasing, and the other is the 10 million candle power Volvo MFD lighting! I hope both issues are fixed soon, especially the latter, otherwise it's a fairly solid release all told.
We really need proper forums though, and I'm honestly surprised they didn't have these in place before launch. It would certainly save a lot of time and effort for all concerned, if we actually had a central place to discuss the game.
Agreed, AA needs to be sorted out without making the game run at 1 FPS
DeleteThis is a proper forum. They get like 80 new members a day!!! http://ets2-mods.com/forum/
DeleteAnd Im not the owner of it... I just think it's a good forum!!
Yes, I'm registered there, but an official dev forum would still be nice. This blog is okay, but the comments section is a mess sometimes.
DeleteNice news SCS !
ReplyDeleteI noticed the lack of reviews or other articles in media, and especially in our own Czech media, which is shame. Sure, most important thing is to have some entries on Metacritics or GameRangkings, but lukewarm interest of homeland media makes me sad even more. I've found good review on PCTuning.cz, of course they are looking on the game from different POV: it's more like testing ETS2 on different configurations with numerous graphics settings (every single item from Advanced settings menu was tested), it's extensive article and thanks them for that. But if we take a look on typical gaming websites, not much articles there, not much. Maybe the problem is maybe they know your previous titles, and honestly, we all know that: these games are great, but you must be truck/bus fan to appreciate them. There is no obvious sign for reviewers that ETS2 is different on so many levels and can easily catch people, who are not into simulations. You must try the game to realize that, otherwise you miss that wow effect. Time for some evangelization, you said it well.
ReplyDeleteHello friends, I go on trying the demo version, for me it is a great work, I hope you do the same with UK truck Simulator and German truck simulator, by the way, in ETS2 you haven´t put an option where we can see the light of the truck, it us useful when you drive with the front camera, especially if we drive with a keyboard, maybe you can put a ribbon to see all the options of lights of the truck as the GTS tachometer ribbon of lights, it could be place at the down part of the navegation GPS. Other thing is the key to turn on/off the truck lights, you have put off the high light with this key, it is not good to be looking for ( F4 key ) which key turns it on/off when everyone knows it is the L key, thanks very much for you attention and your grat job doing the game so good for us. Do not matter you with the extention of the map, just add Spain, Portugal and the rest of Italy, at the end of all, we the fans are are going to have so much fun playing this nice game, thanksssssss from Peru, the Incas' land.
ReplyDeleteYou can change the key bindings in the options menu
DeleteYeah, there are keys for other lights too, you do not have to press F4, check the options, as Josh said.
DeleteYou know, when you say "just add Spain, Portugal and resty of Italy", it's only voice of one part of community. First, doing this means completing France. You can't go to Spain through nothing, right? :-D And France is pretty big country with many big cities, it will take a time. Second, there are also people from Scandinavia, or from southeast Europe, from Ireland... and they all want their own part of Europe. And there are also people who thinks the existing area is not finished yet (only two cities in the Czech Rep, one in Slovakia, no southern Austria, no eastern Poland). I'm sure there will be big fight under next blog entry. :-D
Thanks very much for your words, I like them very much, but my intention here is to help, not to bother enyone, I am a fun as you are all, I enjoy the game very much, I hope some day it will be all Europe on it, I also know it is a big job to complete it, for now we should enjoy it as it is. Another thing that I love of the game is that we have to "work" to get money and levels, so go on doing your job so good becouse we the fans tell you Thanks very much
DeleteThanks for the patch so quickly SCS :)
ReplyDeleteIs the lack of ambient sounds in cabin (traffic, environment,...) a known issue ?
ReplyDeleteOr is it just me ?
Looking forward the next patch and further improvments.
I hate you SCS though, because of you I don't play XCOM anymore as I spend of my time on this gem. (LVL25 now and counting) ^^
Keep up the good work and thank you SCS.
Noticed that too about the sound, kinda miss hearing other cars/trucks, especially whey they pass near you on small roads and you don't hear that shockwave as you drive near them at such a breakneck speed and proximity.
DeleteAm back in Xcom atm, trying to re-balance it by altering the .mod file in the Warspace mod, doing that feels fun for now. I'm waiting for the urge to drive to build up a little more before I get back to it...heh. Driving all day for over a week kind of satiates you for a bit. :P
SCS, some good news:
ReplyDeletePopular polish let's player named RockAlone2k published video abount your game on youtube, he liked it so... yea thats it, hope it will bring you sales and reviews ;)
I like what you did - but feel a little disappointed. I though "Trucks and trailers" was going to be the turning point for your games.
ReplyDeleteWhat I mean by that is the difficulty of trying to get your truck parked up. Trying to navigate without hitting anything. ETS2 for me lacks challenge, Roads/truck yards are very generic, wide open and no real reason to check your mirrors (unless parking/changing lanes).
I would love to see more "random" events, roadworks/road closers, parked cars, busy yards that change every now and then.
This of course is just my opinion, I always prefer challenging games.
True story.
DeleteThis is a greate game, thank you for the game and we welcome another parch. And we hope a norwegian map also will come.
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem like Eric has with the Ambient sounds...there are....no sounds, correct?
ReplyDeleteSeems be a bug.. some trucks have it, some dont.. If i remember, i think DAV had it.. (but not working dials tho..)
DeleteGreat Game SCS! I just wanted to ask something, my ETS2 runs perfectly with my ATI Radeon HD 6570 in maxed settings but when i turn ON Flares of my truck i got massive lag and when i use Turn Indicators or Hazzard Warning Indicators i got massive lag too.. Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone indicate some sites or forums that have tutorials of "how do mods for ETS 2"?
ReplyDeleteI am 3D modeler and I have many ideas for ETS 2.

sii files has nothing to do with 3D models. These files are, simply said, definitions and lists of various gaming rules and objects. You can change them by using simple text editor. Models are in pmd files. There are already discussions on ZModeler forums, so you can read lots of useful informations there.
Deleteturkish map only request
ReplyDeleteSCS, can you put driving school/lessons;like STDS in all your driving sims, thnq.
ReplyDeleteCan you please fix the poor AA? It seems like it doesn't work on long distances.
ReplyDeleteSCS can you do a patch where would Northern Europe(like Sweden,Norway,Finland,Estonia,Latvia and Lithuania)be in.It would be nice and interesting.

WOW official SCS message boards finally!!
ReplyDeleteI have been waiting for that for years now. I really appreciate it!!
TBH the communities and forums about trucksims on the web are a bit weird IMO.
Also congrats on your success and hope you gain more and more attention as your presence in hitlists raises.
Also looking forward to see some of your thoughts about the possible espansions and destinations ETS2 may take.
And finally looking forward to play an updated ETS2 maybe next weekend.
About that wishlist: I'd like some proper sound for V8 engines. In real life, a Scania V8 can be heard and recognized from half a kilometre away, while all other truck engines sound alike to me. In this game however, it sounds no different than a straight six.
ReplyDeleteSo you might understand that I was a little disappointed when I bought my first Scania V8 in game, and did not get to hear the famous sound!
Proper sound for all the trucks would be good. The in-cab sound is the least satisfying part of the whole game, for me - it's long been a weakness of SCS games, in fact, and sadly still is. In this one, there are only about 4 sets of sounds between all the trucks, and the only really reasonable sound is the Scania. The Daf and Volvo have an annoying droning sound which sounds nothing like the engine, at around 1400-1500 revs on the dial. Man sound is better although not really convincing, the Merc is sort-of OK, but sounds like a V6 - as with the V8 Scania, no difference in sound.
DeletePlease get some more credible sounds, SCS!
PS this damned captcha thing drive me nuts, half of them are illegible.
not need a community board, just tell it elitegamers.biz :-)
ReplyDeleteGood work SCS, don't worry, people will find out about the game sooner or later, sales are pretty big.
ReplyDeleteIf the game had a form of multiplayer/online, more gamers wod by the game. It is a fantastik game, but i mis online.
ReplyDeleteVery Good SCS!!!
ReplyDeleteSCS, please visit the official thread in the forum Adrenaline ETS2:

Yes, give us a visit!

Would be a pleasure!
Great game.... playing it everytime! :D
There were a few ETS2 posts that made the front few pages on Reddit's /r/gaming.
ReplyDeleteAny chance we can see a bugfix/ update log before the update is released?
ReplyDeleteYes, that would be nice.. Please devs post changelog before posting patch.. Or even beter.. post patch here on blog earlier :)
DeleteA bugfix before the patch is a bad idea until they are 100% certain of what is in the patch and whats not in it , because you will have the likes of CETS calling it incomplete if something small is missing.
DeleteJust bought the game today for 28€ from saturn.Totally worthed it SCS.I support you till the end guys..Keep on rockin and you will see your game very soon on top charts dont worry!
ReplyDeleteOh and definitelly I want to see in this update or next one or soon a classic V8 scania engine..This is my dream :) Cheers^^
ReplyDeleteHi SCS
ReplyDeleteI think you should include multi-drop deliveries, like delivering to various shops around one city, like London, or, drops in different city's. Thank's
That's a good idea, that be really cool
Deletethat be good in scania truck sim, but i'd love it in euro truck sim 2, it would make them a lot more interesting
DeleteI hope very much that the sales figures are decent. Looking forward to hear more about this in the future.
ReplyDeleteI also hope that ETS2 climbs on Steam Greenlight chart. Top 10 would be absolutely splendid!
Keep up the amazing work SCS Software team!
I am truly enjoying ETS2, however, I think some of the challenges from the Scania TDS would be very welcome. Much too easy to park your trailer in ETS2.
ReplyDeleteAnother plus point is I just tried the game in 3D on my 40" LG TV. Brilliant effect. Only downside is having to play at 1280 X 720 instead of 1920 X 1080. A Thrustmaster T500RS wheel + TRS H-shifter + G25 gearshift used as handbrake makes for some great gameplay.
I wish you guys the best.
ReplyDeleteSo I find the news of ETS2 not making it to the mainstream gamer very sad.
If people only knew, or tried it...

All the best for you. You have made a very impressive work on ETS2 !
Scs software look at this. https://www.facebook.com/ets2mpofficial
ReplyDeletegroup of coders is making a MP mod for ETS2. now if they do and it works. fine make your next project MP.
I'm still intrigued as to why there are so many calls for multi-player in a game where all you do is drive trucks from one place to another. It's not as if you and your friends can even do anything together anyway, aside from convoys.
DeletePersonally, I'd rather they spent more time and resources on increasing the amount of content, and the overall complexity/longevity of the game. I just don't see the advantage of multi-player at all.
great game guys! great work! The only thing I`d like to get better is the sound of the other trucks! I`d love to hear a real MAN- sound in game! The Mercedes sound is really great tough, but not in a MAN ;) would be great, if you could manage some MAN- soundrecordingsessions :)
ReplyDeletePlease Help Me, my game runs fine with my ATI Radeon HD 6570, but in Graphics options when i enable Light Visibility Range the game becomes unplayable with frame rate issues, from cabin view it looks like my truck is teleporting not driving smoothly.
ReplyDeletePlease Someone Help.
Great game !
ReplyDeleteany possibility of seeing DLC packs in the future with older truck models like 95 xf or 3600 ati or 141 Scania etc, etc . ..
Would like to see official SCS "mods"
Very good news!Thank you for your work!
ReplyDeletePlease scs,try to use another AntiAliasing in some situations it looks realy horrible (like a game from astragon).
http://www.abload.de/image.php?img=ets2_00022vrqlu.png
Not sure I've seen anything this bad in my game. You sure you're not running this on low?
DeleteI think it'll look better under the scaling option. Change it from like 100% to maybe 200%.
Deleteyou could put functions at airports, as it had im PTTM, deliveries at airports,
ReplyDeletenot only cities, would be pretty cool, you get in airports and make their deliveries theres also
could put in ports, in addition to mechanical roads as it had in PTTM.
Yes, a variety of deliveries of the goods and not only to the base, as well as the airport, port, petrol station.
DeleteDouble trailers in future update?
ReplyDeleteSCS this is truly your best release ever. I'm really happy with ETS 2 (hated the first one although). And I want to tell you, there are some thing you really need to improve. Like the daily rain. It's amazing what you did with the weather (looks beautiful) but it rains every single day (which is a little bit annoying) and, at the same time, the rain stucks in the upper part of the windshield (in real life it would fall quickly and messy).
ReplyDeleteAnother thing is the lack of traffic. I haven't been in Europe but I can't believe that in the XXI century, there are just five or six cars in a three-way highway. It's just unrealistic.
Other details that would be awesome if you improve are the possibility to have more than one wipers set (like in real life), changes in the intensity of the rain (so it won't rain as heavy as always). Seasons (it would be awesome to have winter, summer etc.), and more interactive stuff inside the truck, as well as !!ARMS AND HANDS!! (something I REALLY really want!!!).
Anyway, hope you sell millions of copies of this wonderful game, which, by the way, shows that you have really worked hard on it. You're awesome SCS!!!!!! keep it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Like the daily rain. It's amazing what you did with the weather (looks beautiful) but it rains every single day (which is a little bit annoying) and, at the same time, the rain stucks in the upper part of the windshield (in real life it would fall quickly and messy)." It hasn't rained for weeks in my game, wished it rained alot more cuz it looks awesome. Besides, makes it more simmy.
ReplyDeleteGuys, awesome job on the game! I do have some issues, mainly with the braking behaviour and the AI but I'm confident you guys will keep improving on that.
Also: U guys rule for giving us up to date info all the time!
The only problem I have with the rain in ETS2 is it gets foggy every time too which is unrealistic. When it rains here in real life in Ireland it rarely ets foggy too and you can see as far as the eye can see when it rains here.
DeleteETS2 is very popular in Croatia. We have thread since 20.4.2011., and people expected game for a long time. Now thread have 68 pages and we all follow what's happening.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.bug.hr/forum/topic/pc-igre/eurotruck-simulator-2/96813.aspx?
Great news about the forum and the coming patch this week. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteETS2 has kept me busy playing from the day of release. Also many modders out there has also released nice mods to even improve the game further. It's getting to be more and more 'real' trucking simulation.
Hopefully we see more optimized game this week. I get some lag when using blinkers, but i think the 4gb patch helped some which i applied to ETS2 .exe file. That is not a cure itself, but i thought to give that 4gb patch a go till you guys at SCS release the next patch. :)
I hope your game starts getting more attention in mainstream news/reviews, because it deserves it.
ETS2 is already 4GB aware so you do not have to apply any external patch.
DeleteYou should add zombies like they did with Train simulator 2013, wich mysteriously appeared on Steam! To get reviews you guys just have to face it and add planes. Greetings from Norway
ReplyDeleteThe multiplayer will surely help you a lot. In 2012 almost all games have a multiplayer, is scheduled?
ReplyDeletemultiplayer is not needed
DeleteNo real need for multiplayer. An MMO based on 18WoS/GTS/ETSx kinda like the (soon to be dead because of mismanagement) Need for Speed World would be great.
Deletemultiplayer is needed.. not like a mmo.. but like good old pay with friends in LAN!
DeleteAre u kidding me Steve? Multiplayer in ETS2 would be a dream!
DeleteI'm serious. Multiplayer is not needed in every single game thats released especially ETS2.
Deleteanyone tried to adding new radio stations into the radio folder aps. live_streams.sii and i tried to add this site http://www.mister-deejay.com/
ReplyDeleteand i just cant add it to the radio list. tried many times and just kepping lost in this. if anyone knows how to do this to work properly. help. anyone, or scs team if you read this, why cant work .m3u or.asx ... anyone any sugestions. or if anyone have any NEW radios in the list.
How to add your favorite online radio to the game
DeleteOpen the file „Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\live_streams.sii“ in your favorite text editor. Here you can add as many radio streams as you want following these steps:
1. Copy the line below to the location hinted in the file, or just under the similar items:
stream_data[]: "RADIO_URL|RADIO_NAME"
2. Replace RADIO_URL with the URL address of the radio stream. Then replace RADIO_NAME with the name you want to see in the game. Remember to keep proper formatting, especially the "|" character that separates the radio URL from the name.
After you are done, save the file and close it. Launch the game and open Radio. You should see the radio streams you just added on the list. Double-click one and it should start playing.
Example live_streams.sii file
live_stream_def : .live_streams {
stream_data[]: "http://123.123.123.123:8000|My Favourite Radio"
stream_data[]: "http://anotherradio.com/stream.mp3|Another Radio"
}
Supported streams
The game supports all MP3-type streams (except MMS). With proper codecs, which are often already installed, you can also listen to many other stream formats.
hard to read the readme isn't it. this was copied from it
Yeah, Michael i know that. I read the readme. Just asking about that site, how to convert or if someone find to me that supported stream. Just getting more lost !?! :((
DeleteYou can use .m3u stream :
DeleteSave the .m3u file on your hardrive,
Open it with any text editor tool,
copy the .mp3 stream link you will find in it to your "live_streams.sii" file,
And voilà ;)
It is a nice game but there are things that should be added to give it a more lasting appeal otherwise people might get tired from it after two weeks of play. More interesting missions should be made. Weather seasons should be implemented (including slippery roads). Extra long/heavy trailers should be added. Double trailers should be added. Events during the road, like flat tires, low oil level, low cooling agent level, AI car crashes, police cars should be added. Adding more countries would be great, start with finishing France, Italy, Poland, Slovakia. Then if possible add Norway (very difficult and interesting driving conditions). Multiplay is great but way to complicated to implement I suppose.
ReplyDeletehow many countries in Europe allow double trailers?
DeleteI guess not many, but does that matter? It would enhance the gaming experience and that is what counts. Im from sweden and there exist double trailers.
Delete@Llewelyn
Deleteas i understand, the double trailer function is not only for gigaliners but also for rigid truck with trailer
like this one:
http://www.semmer-spedition.de/tl_files/semmer/Fuhrpark/WB-Gliederzug.jpg
I guess fatigue is optional in real life too. Please make double trailers optional :)
DeleteAnd forgot to mention in my comment, where is the scania v8 sound? It should definately be there.
ReplyDeleteAlready got the feeling "Bin there done that". Level 20, 65% map covered, 2 companies with 10 chauffeurs there is nothing to it. There is no challenge whatsoever. I cant go bankrupt, even if i spent all my money. Just two freight rides and im full with money again.
ReplyDeleteThis game truly needs more challenge. This challenge is found in:
1)Better truck physics. Right now im racing around with heavy cargo load and if feels light as a feather.
2)The company side sould be better worked out: contracts with companies with a bonus malus system, assurance companies, markets that can crash: have a AI chauffeur ADR 8 and the ADR market crashes, Chauffeurs that do f.ck rides up so you have to play a looot of assureance money etc etc. Make this game intresting for a longer period.
already there are mod for:
Delete1. very real physics
http://adf.ly/EEosl
2. hardcore mode, makes the game a lot harder... tunned in many aspects to be realistic.
http://fisierulmeu.ro/60U2ZE95I95H/hardcore-mode-v2-2-rar.html
I agree it needs a bit more challenge. Random events such as drivers messing up, taking a vacation or being sick would be cool.
DeleteAlso improving garages from 3 to 5 should cost like 250K, not 100K and the gas station outside should go as extra upgrade for another 150K.
You should perhaps also be forced to employ at least 1 office manager for each garage too who manages the garage and costs money without making profit.
And of course profit per driver should perhaps be even less than it is, especially in later stages when he has lots of skills.
The gameplay needs to get a bit deeper. I personally would like the ability to interact with NPCs such as my drivers. In Deadliest Catch Alaskan Storm for example you have some options to interact with your crew and it makes the game feel a lot more alive.
DeleteFor example i also liked the emails from "Hans" in GTS (not sure whats his name in other language versions), that was a good start and i'm kinda missing that in ETS2.
It would be fun if my drivers would have kinda life too and would occasionally call to tell me they need a vacation and if i refuse it they leave the company or so ...
I'm in the game itself can't become bankrupt as I tried-No.
ReplyDeleteIt's too easy to lose that desire to drive to the goal.
Nobody is paying attention because it's a european game. Even though there MIGHT be more european players of these games, it's even more of a niche game because the amount of europeans who have played the american games is stronger than the amount of americans who play the european games. Honestly, the euro thing is old. And even though there may be more european buyers of these games, you have lost a large margin of american and south american, even australian buyers. Cutting everyone out and catering to only one style of game will kill your north american market. I honestly don't know very many people from my end of the world who actually bought the game with real money.
ReplyDeletelol... infatuated stupid american!
DeleteYou Americans always get butthurt when games aren't set in your country, oh wait, virtually every game is set in America...
DeleteStop the rage and appreciate it for what it is instead of whinging that it isn't how you like it. Why would Europeans want to buy a US truck game, for the gameplay perhaps? Yeah I think we did, deal with the fact that it's set in Europe unlike every other game and actually appreciate what SCS have done!
American Logic: Cutting people out is hurting your game. Please cut Europeans out.
DeleteGenius.
I wouldn't know a simple structured guy like you either so it's no wonder that you don't know a lot of ppl who bought the game.
DeleteAssassin Creed was made in Canada, and yet, I am pretty sure you are playing it right now.
DeleteI'm not american actually, or from north america at all. Nice try though. Kicking and screaming if you don't get your retarded shat design euro garbage. Maybe if you euros had some decent equipment to play with like we have in australia, nobody would have nething to say. Bunch of brainless closet fruit scs fanboys need to get out of their sheltered lives and drive some real lorries.
DeleteI see what you did there. You just came here to tell us how rubbish this game was in your opinion and then gop off on a rage because we didnt reply the way you wanted us to.
DeleteI am with a few of the last statements, I had an absolute blast playing this game, now it is getting so much the same. We do need very different challenges to keep up the interest level.
ReplyDeleteDo not get me wrong I love this game, but now it needs the envelope pushed just a little more.
It wod be nice if the trucks of you on company cod be seen on the roads. Can that be intergratet in the game?
ReplyDeleteI have a problem, when i press a key or control the steering with the mouse, there is a delay of under a second until the game responds, is this normal or a bug
ReplyDeletethis didnt happen with the first euro sim
people if you want a challenge. start a new game and never get a single loan and just keep doing quick jobs untill you have the right level for your dream truck without buying anouther one before that
ReplyDeleteZOMG ! I WANNA PERFORMANCE FIX FOR THIS GAME !!!
ReplyDeletePerformance is just fine, what are your PC specs you are trying to play on?
DeleteThere are some issues like the crazy lag created by the indicators and having the lights on... I guess on a top-end PC you wouldn't notice - on mine, I've had to restrict it to 1280x800 graphics to get acceptable frame rate, even with many things off/low: and my graphics card, although old (Nvidia 7900GTX) is still about half way up the current range in performance terms, as it was top of the range then. To get noticeably better graphics performance I'm looking at GT550 or better in the current Nvidia range, and that is far from entry level.
DeleteI and many people would buy this game if it had Portugal and spain...
ReplyDeleteI'm from Canada, and its not on the map, but I still play it.
DeleteI'm pretty sure they will release some DLC adding more roads/cities/countries. Just hold on
Same here, I bought it and its awesome only thing im missing is more countries to drive in. I hope they make at least whole continental europe (whole slovakia, poland italy, france plus portugal and spain) balkan states (croatia serbia etc) and scandinavia (norway, finland, sweden)
DeleteJust a hint: check map for highway crossroads that lead to nothing (restricted) and, maybe, you'll find the points of future extensions ;)
DeletePretty sure the original ETS had a limited map to start with and gained more places later.

Only Volvo kept it's recognizable design, in headlight at least. Other models are ugly as fuck.
DeleteI do not understand how euro truck 2 was released with old tracks!?
DeleteThat Volvo and MAN does not look bad, he rest is ugly. But older trucks are much nicer. And trucks from 80's and 90's even nicer. (Same with passenger cars. I don't know what's going on with car design.)
Deletemore trucks please.
DeleteLOL i think you are joking when you are saying that the Actros is ugly or the Iveco :| .
DeleteI like all 5 trucks, if i must clasify in this order i will play with them.
1. Mercedes; 2. Volvo; 3. Daf,Iveco; 4. Man
Man is unchanged. It is only a facelift. It is personal preference but to say that the rest of the trucks are ugly you must pe an idiot or very drunked. :|
Or it's only about anybody's own opinion. If you like them, then alright, Stefan, I will not call you drunken idiot for that. So do not call me names just for my taste too. (Of course why not to tell that you think I'm joking or something similar -- that's alright. I'm not joking, btw.)

ReplyDeleteA little question. Why don't you made some Panav trailers. It's czech company and game from czech game making company with czech companies in it. It sounds good and I think that they accept that their brand can be in game. You can tried some northern companies like Ekeri. Or some else european companies like Kögel, Wielton, Cherauf,... . It's sad that you tried only schmitz and Krone. I got it that they really popular but you can tried.
ReplyDeleteGood idea!
DeleteFeature request: Separation of tyres from wheel/rims in the upgrade section. While I am not asking for named brands, it would be nice if we could choose which tyres to go with the available rim styles.
ReplyDeleteSince everyone else and their dog seems to be linking to their mods; mine can be found on my youtube page /insanejericho
One thing I do want to know: How come my employed drivers, even after they level up a few times, make such rubbish amounts of money? I already worked out that 2 drivers in a depot in a small city is bad, so now I have only 1 per city (except Berlin) and no drive makes more than about 4K euro per day, where I make like 40K per day.
ReplyDelete1: What you get from them has already had their pay deducted. So bare that in mind, it includes the standard pay + X per mile as well. So if their pay is €481 + €22.12/mile on a 415mile trip they will take at least €9,660 from the trip total as well as the fuel costs and damage repairs etc. Our pay has few deductions because we get the full thing.
Delete2: Take into account their stats. The higher their ADR rating, Long haul etc, the better their class in each section, the higher paid jobs they can take. And remember Long Hauls bring in most money, so focus on that first. They also seem to get the same benefits as we do, in that the higher their rating in each section, the higher bonus they get for certain trips. Such as 10% bonus for level 2 fragile etc.
On of my employees, regularly brings in €8,000 now but has brought in €20,000 in a single trip too. Her stats are 6.7 rating - 3rd ADR, 3 fragile, 4 High Value and 5 for Long Hauls, Eco Driving and On time delivers.
My suggestion is to work on their Long Haul stat first, then get at least 2 for ADR, Fragile and High Value and try and fit in eco driving as you go to save on fuel prices. But certainly work on long haul as that is where the money will come from.
Well... it's a game. That's about all I can say about the pay scale. IRL, at least in the USA, even OO's don't make as much as company drivers do here in ETS2.
DeleteCurrently I am driving in ETS2 as an OTR driver with my own truck (paid for) and have one 3 space garage, two drivers and trucks financed. I just look at the money my drivers bring in as "free money". Sure, it's no where near what I make per load, but I don't have to do anything either. Don't have to dispatch their loads, don't have to repair their trucks, do any paperwork at all etc.
If you are looking at an upgrade to the game, i would seriously look at a couple of options like these below.
ReplyDelete1: Having your own company trailers
2: Upgrading the trailers from double axle to triple axle that would lead to better jobs heavier loads more money, being able to add lights to the trailers, side skirts, add more trailers to the game.
3: Seeing your own lorries on the road, i really thought you guys was going to implement this on the game.
4: more variety of vehicles, fire engines, police cars, ambulances, various vans.
Just a few thoughts.....
I also agree with Llewelyn above, i have 10 Lorries 4 depot's i am in so much dept in the game it frightens me in real life, all my trucks have GPS i did this because my drivers keep getting lost, well guess what they still keep getting lost, this part of the game is annoying, and i generally bring in between 40k and 80k depending on job im on and my drivers bring in 2k max 3.5k i have had, but they do like to drive back empty to the depot because they get lost, that costs my company in the region of 500k eaxh time
WHY WHY WHY WHY
As for the drivers:
Deletejust your drivers have little experience, experienced drivers earn up to 5-6k per trip.
As I said to Llewelyn above, it's all about their stats. Not specifically their ratings, but the bonuses and higher pay that come with leveling up the types of driving/cargo.
DeleteGiving your drivers GPS is irrelevant in the game. They don't "get lost". The AI don't have the option to deliver elsewhere, they only look for return jobs to their home base city. This is why they come back empty sometimes.
How many times have you taken cargo from your home base and when you have reached your destination found their is no cargo back to your home base city? It happens often to us as well, but we of course have the option of going somewhere else instead.
The current "no jobs" ratio for AI drivers is 10%. So it should really only be happening every 1/10 jobs. Though I admit it does seem to be more frequent.
So remember, focus your driver training policy to long haul and get them to around level 3 with it, then look to increase their ADR (as the dangerous cargo has higher pay).
Also remember to upgrade your fleet as appropriate. Don't go on a spending spree for depots and trucks, you'll end up in the red in no time. Build slowly but confidently.
I have seven trucks in my fleet currently, but I am in no danger of debt. I even have a €5,000 payment fee per day as I decided I could afford to take out a loan for my second depot and a truck for that depot.
Owning your own trailers would be problematic. IRL when I drove for Schneider (flatbed) we had drop yards where we were often sent to pick up the right kind of trailer for the next job. Then when you made the delivery, you'd be limited in what kind of return load you could get, unless there was another drop yard nearby where you could switch trailers.
DeleteFound ETS2 on a Reddit forum. There has been some discussion of it also in /r/trucking. I'm enjoying it alot. So much that I bought it, and I haven't bought a game since EQ2 many years ago. Sure, there are a lot of little bugs and annoyances, but overall I'm really enjoying the game. The realism of being in the cab and the steering, backing to docks, having to watch your tandems around corners etc is really good. IRL I drove OTR for Schnieder trucking (flatbed) for 1 year and 100k miles a few years ago. Had some local jobs since then, but haven't driven at all since 2007. So this game is not only a lot of fun for me, but helps to keep my skills honed. I just wish I could afford a G27! Keep up the good work SCSS!
ReplyDeletei bought the game right now.............Love it :) i remember you guys since i was young back in the Hard truck:18 wheels of steel

ReplyDeleteAnd this wild light display on Volvo. What I didn't do. It is hoped the patch that promise for the weekend

DeleteAnonymousNovember 8, 2012 1:10 PM
Deletef4 - Then go off other devices! You do not understand.
Press F4, the lowest slider bar changes brightness of dashboard.
DeleteTo display only, not the entire Panel!
Deletef4 whole Panel fades completely!
F4 adjustable brightness for the entire panel, not the display separately. If you remove the brightness to the end, would be a bad instrument lighting and navigator.
DeleteThis requires correction. Beta testers have not seen it? :)
Yes, this definitely needs urgent attention. I actually get a headache pretty quickly unless I dim the dash drastically, and it's the only truck which has this problem.
DeleteWe should be able to purchase older trucks. If you go to a ingame dealership you should of course only find the newer models but if you head into the online shop I think in my opinion we should have an option to buy even cheaper trucks but they will be from the 90s like the Volvo FH12 or older.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what the point of that would be, unless you're nostalgic. The rate of pay for the player is so much higher than it would be IRL, that everything in game is actually quite low cost.
DeleteAs a company driver when I started the game, I saved enough to buy my own truck in just a few days driving. IRL, at least in the USA, pay is MUCH lower. IRL the first year you'll hardly make enough money to survive. The second year and beyond you might make $800 a week or so unless you get lucky and get into a Union job, but those are very rare.
http://www.layover.com/forums/layovers-lounge/t-what-is-the-average-driver-with-2-years-otr-experience-being-paid-149111.html
Don't get mad at me but this is real fact. Being a european trucker is much more comfortable and well-payed compared to USA.
DeleteI tested ETS2 on my pc for few days but I uninstalled it and reinstalled and now my savegames shows level 0 and distance traveled 0. Loading savegames makes me start from setting my base. I am annoyed to lost many hours of playing and I lost will to buy this game for my PC. To bad.
ReplyDeleteyou should have made a backup of your savegames. after you reinstalled, place the backup files in my documents: "euro truck simulator 2". it will work if you install the same version you used before you reinstalled it.
Deletenot sure if it's a bug in my game but i have not seen it rain in ETS2 for over a week
ReplyDeleteCheck through your OPTION settings. It rains daily or I should say often while I'm driving in game.
DeleteBe happy, don't worry!
DeleteI think it happens for example when it would rain while you are sleeping so that you don't see the daily rain.
I personally don't like the daily rain anyway, that should be a lot more random and of course there should perhaps be weeks where it rains practically not and then times when it rains often.

Begins Friday, where patch!?
ReplyDeleteFirst, when you wrote it, there was still 7 hours to Friday in Europe. (Now about 3 hours.) Second, they did not wrote Friday, but "end of the week". Which can be Friday, but also Saturday or even Sunday, by European conventions.
DeleteIf you are so cheeky that you measuring SCS's time, at least re-set your clock to CET.
Great news SCS , expecting that patch :)
ReplyDeleteSo... When we can expect the new patch?
ReplyDeleteBTW. SCSSoft, nice work... ETS2 is a great game ever. :)
SCS, remove de 90 km/h speed limit from the game! It' annoying sometimes, and difficult us to bypass other cars!!!
ReplyDeleteAll european trucks are limited to 90km/h. Why do u wanna go faster? Drive realistic instead of in 130km/h :) remember it's a truck simulator, not a new need for speed :)
Deletein real life we can do this too
Deletehttp://youtu.be/2J4KdQQIzW4
or this...
http://youtu.be/x5G8wEX29Eo
but we can't do that in game..
speed limiter should be as an option, or a upgrade that you can buy in the service.
i saw trucks doing 120km/h in real life, not all world trucks have limiters.
@cdmc
Delete1. that too videos was a testcenter and a stundshow.. nothing to do with real life every day trucking
2. only non europe trucks (russia for example) can drive faster.. or you have a hill down situation which is very dangerous.. you should never let your truck get faster than 100km/h hill down.. if you lose control you will die!
scs makes simulations.. as off ets2 i would say we are on the way to professional simulators. that isnt a game anymore!
if its a simulator, it have to be dangerous, just as in real life. cause now going 100+km/h in ETS2 is like walking in a park... ETS2 should be harder to play, cause from what i see, if ETS2 is a real simulator, then truck driving is so easy... witch actually is not! If people call a game by the name of "Simulator" i think it should be as close to reality as possible. For example, why don't SCS made so if you go fast with a truck, like 90+km/h (you know, down hill or something) and you crash, for example in to on coming traffic, you die in game, and have to start from your last safe game.
Deleteor make difficulty levels, like Easy - if you crash, you have to start from your last safe game (that is if you where going way to fast and there is not chance that you would survived that accident).
the other difficulty level should be like Hard, or Simulation, or something like that. when if you crash(and i mean in a massive accident) you die in game, and have to start everything from the beginning.
now with features like that, i bet people would drive at 80km/h max and pray not to crash in to something, because if they did, they have to start a new game.
im not talking about if you like going in to the corner at just a bit over the speed limit and flip a truck, and you're dead... no! im talking about really big accidents and very high speed. I don't know if anyone remembers this, but you can die in Rig n Roll, hit a pole at 80mph and see what happens. also, is see that in ETS2 tires wears out, i don't know what happens if you don't change them, but what if if the tires are worn out like 80% they would pop and you lose control, truck crashes, or something like that...
why can't ETS2 have the same thing, so players who really love simulators can experience the same fear when driving a truck at high speeds without actually hurting anyone in real life...
i have lots of respect for truck drivers and i know that there work is hard, but from ETS2 it looks like it more like playing in the sand box and that makes me sad.
Games called "Simulator" are not simulations at all. If you think that Flight Simulator is simulation, then be assured it isn't. The physics is so complicated thing that your home computer simply can't compute it in real time. Running a vehicle simulation means to have a network of really powerful machines.
DeleteOf course ETS2 physics could be little more realistic, I think STDS physics is, but it still can't be a simulation. And second, ETS2 is game for "masses" (I mean for much more people than STDS), so it must be easier. When you're budget for a game is in millions of Euro, you can't make it only to few thousands hardcore truckers. Casual player must be able to play it too.
Hi guys, congratulations for this incredible simulator, but you could make in this new patch, the days pass as a real day taking the whole 24 hours, would be a great improvement, as well as being more realistic.
ReplyDeleteit wouldn't be more realistic as it would be out of synch with the map. both the map and time are scaled down perfect to each other. a trip that would take 1 hour in a truck in europe takes 1 ingame hour
DeleteGoing through half of Europe in 2 hours would be hardly more realistic, as Michael, in other words, says.
DeleteWhat I would welcome - and I'm not saying it's realistic - is option to skip night time. Just option, not fixed game rule. The ETS2 scenery is so beautiful that I really hate driving in night and knowing I'm maybe missing something fantastic. :-D
ReplyDeleteVolvo display fix!

DeleteHey, new blog header! Nice. :-)
ReplyDeleteHello everyone:
ReplyDeleteCongratulations SCS for this excellent game, amazing job you have done!
I think it would be nice some adds like:
- different locations in destinations, and most of all, increase dificulty on parking.
- Driving out of the highways is in fact much more fun, i think this kind of roads are more interesting and challenging, so it could be nice have more roads like this.
- Used truck dealers; if we could buy some old trucks, from 15 or 20 years ago with "tired" engines, it could be fun.
About multiplayer: the experience on other games, tells me that may be some troubles: online LAG that may cause accidents, there is always someone driving to hit other players...etc I think that is not necessary, in fact, what we have to do is pick up a cargo and delivery it on another destination, why multiplayer mode?
Thanks to all of you
Cheers from Portugal
