As we are getting closer to the finish line on ETS2 Scandinavia DLC, it's time to show you more of what we have in store for you. Here is a small scale map to reveal the destination cities we are putting into this world expansion. This little map doesn't tell the whole story - the highways, roads and city streets are now a much more detailed system than what we currently have in the older parts of our ETS2 universe.
We have dedicated a lot of time and attention to recreating Scandinavian sights and landmarks in order to make the scenery more vibrant and lifelike. We tried hard to distill the looks and sights of the region to stay true to its spirit, and in the process created a lot of new assets to make driving more varied and the exploration more interesting.
The scenery is additionally supplemented with new delivery types and unique locations such as Scania and Volvo Trucks factories. Since ferry transport plays important role in this area, Scandinavia DLC also will feature numerous ports and deliveries aimed at supporting those locations.

DeleteRightly so too, perhaps if you think it's not worth paying these people for their work it's not worth you getting paid for yours either?
DeleteOk but is it free
DeleteNo, you idiot, it isn't free.
DeleteLol free?? Never it will be xD
DeleteLooks good ,cant wait.....Thanks SCS
ReplyDeleteWill this affect the Promod version of Scandinavia or does it enhance it?
ReplyDeleteThis DLC is for those who don't use map mods. There will be a conflict between the two as they're in the same area. The Promods team will adapt to the DLC map a bit after official release, but it will take some time to do that. Either way, I'm looking forward to it.
Deletethis truly beautiful the graphics look very very realistic, the sky does as well and there is more traffic i really cant wait for this absolutely well down project. scs this is how it should be
ReplyDeleteYay. It's so close I can taste it. I am looking forward to this DLC so much I can hardly wait. Thanks SCS. :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait! Love the picture of Storebælt! :)
ReplyDeletenew trailer in last photo!!!! nice!!!
ReplyDeleteLivestock perhaps? :p
Deletevery nice
ReplyDeleteIs that a new trailer in the last picture too?(the white with green) Looks cool
DeleteThe Cattle Deck on the DAF on the right and the Scania on the left is a new trailer
DeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteSCS supe díky jste skvělí
ReplyDeleteSuper!
ReplyDeleteOh... Where's Finland?
Finland is not in scandinavia
DeleteAre you retarded?
Deleteactually you're both right, check on wikipedia for the article related to scandinavian countries
DeleteFinland is a part of the nordic countries but not scandinavia :)
DeleteIts a sort of scandinavia, but not in the game
DeleteYou're destroying ProMods! STOP IT!
ReplyDeletewe don't all use promods or any mods no one is forcing you to use dlc, like no one is forcing us to hack the game/mod
DeleteThis is not going to destroy Promods. Yes it will break the map temporarily until they get the map updated but it will most certainly not put them out of "business" as modders. If you notice the DLC does not contain any cities in Finland and does not have some of the more Northern cities that Promods has. Promods also includes a large number of cities in France as well as changes to other parts of the map.
Delete@Martin Cooper - I would prefer you didn't use the phrase "hack the game." Hacking implies that installing mods for the game hurts other people or hurts the developer itself. I would argue against that because I don't think the game would still be anywhere near as popular without mods.
And you're underestimating SCS Software's work!
Deleteok hacking is thw wrong word, but modding rins the risk of progress loss
Deleteand menacing scarab implies what exactly
DeleteBut promods are legal! I promise, i have it
DeleteProgress is by far more important than some puny mods.
DeleteMod's really help ETS2 JazzyCat's trailers mod is a must have. It has 416 traffic trailers and over 1800 skins for trailers. I'ts an amazing mod.
Deletedumbest comment ever. Promods are MODS. You have to be a fool to tell a developer to NOT release OFFICIAL CONTENT because of a mod. Developers don't generally take mods into account in terms of what they can add to the game that hasn't already been created yet because they mainly look at OFFICIAL CONTENT. It doesn't matter if a modding team releases content for the entirely of Europe that doesn't have roads yet. IT'S NOT AN OFFICIAL RELEASE and therefore is not a factor in whether or not a dev team releases that type of content themselves. This applies for ALL GAMES throughout the entire gaming industry.
DeleteGreat job, maybe add more scotish towns to finish off the UK
ReplyDeleteFort Willam, inverness John o groats would do it
I'd like to see some more of Scotland too, it's not very big on game just now
DeletePromods will be adding fort william and inverness in 1.9 with iceland
DeleteKeep your Promods. I only play the official game by SCS, Why mess with perfection.
DeleteAny release date?
ReplyDeleteNone that SCS has said so I'm going to be a smart *** and use the old Blizzard release date statement of soon. Soon - a time that is between now and the end of time
Deletehttp://www.excalibur-publishing.com/games/euro-truck-simulator-2-scandinavia/
Deletehow mutch will it cost?
ReplyDeletejudging by the Going East DLC which cost $12.99 (USD), Scandinavia DLC will likely cost the same
DeletePersonaly I dont think that you can make a port in Esbjerg without making it a city with companys, BIG DISAPOINTMENT
ReplyDeleteAgreed.! Denmarks second biggest city (Aarhus 260.000 inhabitants) and fifth biggest (Esbjerg 72.000 inhabitants) are not in the map, that is disapointing, especialy when taken in to account that other, way smaller cities are in the map.
DeleteAnyways, I look forward to the release of this dlc.
@ SCS - Are we going to get more drivers for hire? With more garages available to buy in the new cities, we need more. I have two profiles, and both of them have already employed all the drivers, I would really like to have more than the 154 that we currently have available.
ReplyDeleteI asked this same question over 12 months ago and I`m still waiting for more DRIVERS
DeleteLooks amazing! Looking forward for it!
ReplyDeleteJust a little "but" on the last photo, with the bridge. "Storebælt" :-D (I live 5 min from there)
The buildings on the right side, is actually on the left side IRL ;-)
But still looks really good! :-D
It is right.... if you come from the other way ;p
DeleteHaha :-D
Delete1/4 of norwey and sweden ? are u kidding me ? i waiting for all scandinavia not just 1/4.....
ReplyDeleteAgree. Was hoping I would get to drive "home"
Deletenice work, cant wait for this

DeleteThese new textures and buildings will be applied to the rest of Europe in the future?
ReplyDeleteOr are they already?
It will definitely look like this, SCS does not dramatically enhance photos like that. Even now, the graphics in the game are quite nice.
DeleteI don't expect new textures on the existing map but the new lighting I expect will cover the existing map and DLCs. The above is based on what I understood from the various SCS comms.

ReplyDeleteEh, how it can be Scandinavia DLC if there isnt Finland? It should be called "Couple random northerns cities DLC"
ReplyDeleteYou know that Finland isn't part of Scandinavia, right? Finland is a northern country but not part of Scandinavia, only Norway, Sweden and Denmark is part of Scandinavia. :p
DeleteAdd this trailer, so you can transport new trucks from truck factories.

For 2 years and 3 months only Poland and several cities ?? This is mockery with us. You're assholes, SCS fuck YOU !
ReplyDeleteYou don`t have to play it.
Deletewhen we excepts spain , portugal and south italy ? After more 3-4 years or more ??
ReplyDeleteMaybe you will put Romania on the map in the next update. Romania is a part of EU too you know ?
ReplyDeleteIt looks nice, but you work to slow and in to much in some details which do not need be so .... but that is SCS company politic
ReplyDeletePeople have said all !
Said people have no understanding of how much work goes into game development and think that it takes no time at all to create a massive amount of work. These people are part of the instant gratification mentality in which they just want it now now now now now without any thought as to what it takes to make that work come to fruition.
DeleteThose people will constantly complain non-stop like they've always done...but none of them have ever worked in game development before.
I have a problem my Graphik is on ultra but looks like shit -.- who can Held me ?
ReplyDeleteScaling at 400%?
DeleteIt is good that you have announced the names of the cities in Scandinavian DLC. For people living there it's a good information for me it doesn't change anything because I've never been there and everything is exotic for me:) I've been thinking why your current projects takes so long. In Poland we have expression: if you don't know what is all about, it's about the money. I was surprised that ETS2 is still selling very well. On the websites like ebay or very popular in Poland allegro I can see that a lot of people are buying ETS2. So it means that you still get money for it. When you was launching ETS2 and Going East! DLC you didn't have it so much, am I right? So this projects was done quickly. Now you have plenty of time to launch it, because the money are no the problem. Scandinavian DLC maybe will be launching "soon" but I'm afraid that for ATS we will be waiting very, very long. ETS2 and ATS are competitive projects. So if ETS2 is still selling well you won't launch ATS. I know that you run your business, I understand it. But as a player I'm a little disappointed because of that. I hope voices of the players will change it.
ReplyDeleteI recommend you to watch the videos (4 parts) that have recently been posted on this blog and will tell you all about the future of ETS2 and ATS.
DeleteAnd in case you aren't willing to watch them, ETS2 and ATS aren't each others rivals at all.
Officially, maybe so, but I live too long in this world to believe.
DeleteDo you maybe have plan to add Serbia to the ETS2 world map in near future ?
ReplyDeleteI really can't wait!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat work! Waiting for the release!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a little bit disappointed to be honest. I always defended the long development proces as that would only mean more roads, but after such a long period and so many enthusiastic weblog posts, I expected more then just a 5th of Scandinavia.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your work, and the screens look really good, but in my opinion you are focusing on the little details to much instead of the complete picture. Less details and more roads would have give more gaming pleasure in the end.
Great work!!The little details are very important and that is the best way!!Cant wait and the new weather system is looking just beautiful!! Thank you for your great work.
ReplyDeleteI am disappointed to see so few towns in denmark. Only one in the entire Jutland. The second biggest city is not even there.
ReplyDeleteWhen comes finland?
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, but to work on this tiny expansion, map scale wise, for two years... I am a bit disappointed.
ReplyDeleteI was really looking forward to driving up all the way to the North Cape. The most northern part of Norway. Sadly I can only drive in places close to the European mainland.
While the quality is good I just feel it is too little. Going east added a lot more kilometers to the map.
Oh well, here is to hoping that it will be further expanded towards the north soon. Although I'm sure resources will be put to completing ATS now.
I see the new lighting engine.. looks good.
ReplyDeletewhen ? when ? when ?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.excalibur-publishing.com/games/euro-truck-simulator-2-scandinavia/
DeleteNice work.
ReplyDeleteGo ahead SCS ...
Will be release on cd?
Do I see animal-trailers?
ReplyDeleteit looks like it. SCS made a trailer to transport those guys who are always complaining about everything in this game hihi
DeleteWhat? this is not Scadinavia, this is - 1/3 of Scandinavia. I am disappointed, SCS
ReplyDeleteI agree with you!! Were is the northern Sweden and Finland
DeleteLook at the Map on ETS2, northen sweden and norway aren't there, and Finland isn't a apart of scandinavia, just a part of "Norden" in swedish just look Wikipedia

Deleteyes, I agree with you
Deletesouthern AND western France
ReplyDeleteA bit disapointing with only 3 cities in Denmark and 4 in Norway. Feels more like a Sweden DLC than Scandinavia. Hope Promods will fix that in time.
ReplyDeleteit´s so because sweden are bigger, and denmark are small
DeleteI think it is a little funny that Denmarks second biggest city Aarhus and fifth biggest city Esbjerg, are not in the map, when cities that are way smaller are in the Sweden part of the map. I was somehow expecting this, when you look back at all the blogs about swedish cities comming to this dlc, but it is a little disapointing. It is also disapointing that the dlc only covers about 1/5 of Scandinavia.
DeleteBeautiful work guys. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteMusic to my ears!
ReplyDeleteFinland...Turku...Helsinki...??? Its Skandinavia too!
ReplyDeleteum...just looked it up on wiki it says Denmark Norway Sweden Iceland
DeleteIceland?? Not really... Finland?? Not entirely...
DeleteNever the less disappointed about the size. There is a hole lot more Scandinavia to see up north from here. More roads than towns really. Promods have done this already, and I was hoping SCS could overrun this and be wider and extensive. It would be nice to visit Tromssa or Hammerfest at north and some Swedish cities too, maybe even Finland and St. Petersburg, as a starting point for Russian expansion?

Hallo all of you. i you aal wonder why there cities missing. well i guess. they not put all citie on the map. aarhus is there and Esbjerg Södertälje also. well guys. If you look back on 11th November at this blog. you will find the Citie signs. and Esbjerg is the one of them. take a look. regards from denmark.

ReplyDeleteisn´t södertälje and nynäshamn with in the scandinavian DLC?
ReplyDeleteNynäshamn may just be a port and a small town just like irl we will see. Probably not much to do there anyways lol. And södertälje is close to Stockholm so maybe it's a pickup point in scania's factory?
DeleteNew Amerıcan Truck Sımulator 2 exıt hıstory,whıte tıme new vıdeo youtube gameplay? Scandinavian Dlc to thank you exıt hıstory?

ReplyDeleteThe second shot is epic! And the new lighting and weather mod seem to be really good!
ReplyDeleteTyping mistake...not a mod, it's the new l&w system
DeleteWhere is Finland?!?!?! Where is Finland?!?!?! Finland is Scandinavian country. Where is Finland?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteOnly sweden, norway and denmark are in this DLC, Finland are not that
DeleteCALM DOWN WILL YOU everything is going to be fine. Scs wont add anything if you just cry and wine.
ReplyDeleteYes they will, they won't cancel a dlc they are working on for so long. It's their business. And we are the paying customers, so in my opinion we should be able to say we are dissapointed.
DeleteI'm more interested in the new weather and lighting system, since it will "renew" the whole map.
ReplyDeletelooking good!
ReplyDeletethe lighting looks like in German truck simulator....
ReplyDeleteFirst, you should have developed a good weather system and then Scandinavia dlc, etc, etc. Scandinavia without winter, autumn, long daylight in summer?!! Did you forget that the Earth has a tilt incl of 23.5 deg with respect to the orbital plane?!!! This means seasons!!!! How much time you will need to develop this?!! 100 years?!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope ATS will be your economical boom, otherwise I will be dead and ETS2 still incomplete!!!
Why are you on this site then!? NIGGA!
DeleteBefore writing, please connect your tongue to your brain!!
DeleteAdd Portugal and Spain please, in name of portuguese people who like your game
ReplyDeleteand make a seasonal weather system
ReplyDeleteEurope isn't the same without these Portugal and Spain
ReplyDeleteI agree! And hole italy!
DeleteI have a question for the SCS and here it is:Why did you not add Finland to your new DLC because Finland is in Scandinavia. And because you did not add Finland to the new DLC i will not buy the new map DLC mod.
ReplyDeleteMybe because Finland isn't part of Scandinavia? Finland is in the group of Nordic countries, Scandinavia consist just of Sweden, Norway and Denmark...
DeleteThis community has never been shy to comment. Aside from the over emotional and rude comments [bravo folks, you know who you are and maybe you will learn manners some day like the rest of us], there is a sense of excitement mixed with disappointment in this latest update.
ReplyDeleteI share this. Success brings expectations and meeting the expectations of such a large community is never going to easy or indeed without issues.
There is a time-2-result concern here for sure. The time needed to deliver what appears to underwhelm expectations is an issue. Unless this DLC incorporates changes to the existing map which 1) enhance the over all map experience and 2) setup the map for faster future expansion, the disappointment remains for many I fear. If these points prove true, my disappointment reduces! I don't think this DLC will do all of that ... but we'll see.
There is a clear call from the community for expanded maps to cover western, eastern, southern and northern Europe and now the rest of the commonly consider landmass of Scandinavia [irrespective of what Wikipedia states]
For folks who don't use mods, SCS is providing expansion and at their chosen rate of delivery. It is what it is and it's all good really.
For those of us who want larger area, TSM and ProMods have been leading the way and SCS in fairness is aware of the mod community and carefully supports it.
So thank you SCS for the update, it looks fantastic. Please continue to work to improve the map and the quality and please maintain your careful support for the modding community.
Well Said bro!

ReplyDeleteAMERICAN TRUCK SIMULATION WE WAN'T DOUBLE TRAILERS make this game UNIQUE if people have played ets 2 with AMERICAN TRUCKS AND TRAILERS is going to be the same like playing ets 2 i can't see that same driving physics BECAUSE u can't tell on AMEREICA TRUCK SIMOLATIO-alpha boild 0.1.60 GAME PLAY overall is going to be waste of money because of ETS 2 SAME ENGINE CORE is like driving a old truck and then i wan't to buy a new truck but the dealership want to sell my a new truck with an old engine
ReplyDeleteAnd what about going to school, learn to write properly?
Delete"This little map doesn't tell the whole story - the highways, roads and city streets are now a much more detailed system than what we currently have in the older parts of our ETS2 universe." ... ReplyDeleteI can play okay on Ultra now... Will this update make the performance worse again, due to all these graphic updates?

ReplyDeleteNow it's time to work Spain and Portugal DLC
ReplyDeleteYeah!!! Iberia DLC.
DeleteWith no connection to the rest of the map.... Do you just want to cross an empty southern France ?
DeleteLooks great! Can't wait for it to come out. I've been saving up to pay whatever it costs ... anything to help you keep developing the ets2/ats/world of trucks plan you discussed with Squirrel. Keep up the great work and Keep On Truckin!
ReplyDeleteplease not make it too much expensive :)
ReplyDeleteAs the article says about "detail" & "landmarks", are there any plans to put any landmarks in the original game in future updates? For example... Where is Dartford Tunnel & Dartford Crossing. They are a "vital" part of the world famous M25 that goes around London but they are nowhere to be seen. It's not as if they are new. I'm in my 40s & Dartford Tunnel is older than me. It would be nice to see those in the game, & many others that were missing from the start.

Welchen Einfluss & welche Auswirkung hat diese Einstellung von 0 km/h, 5 km/h oder 10 km/h ?
Seems like its gonna be a waste of money this dlc. 2nd biggest city in Denmark isn't even in the game. Finland isn't even in the dlc even though in a scandinavian country. SCS might wanna re-think is project at this point
ReplyDeleteThink NOW! Finland isn't a country in scandinavia, not even iceland, just sweden, norway and denmark are in scandinavia, you can check everywhere on internet, sweden, denmark and norway are in scandinavia cause then talk almist same language, lika English and anerican, or spainish and portugese

ReplyDeleteAs a citizen of Norway, I have so far relied on ProMods to be able to drive in my home country. And when I see that map, I still will.
ReplyDeleteThat is an insult to all your fans in Scandinavia. You have left out over 50% of each country. And Finland entirely. The arctic circle is not included, North Cape, and I a guessing that the northern light (aurora borealis) is left out also.
This product is nothing to be proud of at all. It is yet another half-baked attempt.

Could someone tell me where the second photo in this blog features from?
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the Hardanger Bridge in Norway :D

ReplyDeleteSCS you are doing a fantastic job and ignore all the negative comments. I will buy Scandinavia DLC to support you. Many people dont understand what it is to make a game or a map.
