The images below are from two levels from a part of the game where the player is facing realistic scenarios requiring high level of driving skill. We call this section of the game Dangerous Drives; there is over a dozen different challenges in it. This pack of levels is still only a fraction of the whole game, which also has a section dedicated to teaching truck maneuvering skills, a big area dedicated to Scania's Young European Truck driver competition challenges, and also a sizable free roaming map just for having fun delivering cargoes all over the place.

DeleteI can only speak for the UK, but the UK publishers, Excalibur, are quoting 1st June on THEIR website. I'm more inclined to beleive them than other online "stores". They are the ones with the contract to publish and release.

DeleteYou do realise that when a publisher states a release date, then that is because a contract has been signed? A contract which is legally binding and carries fines if it is not complied with? I would suggest that the game will be released June 1st as that is when the publisher states, and scs can ill afford to pay fines, when thay are running very close to the wind with this and ETS2.

Courage ... This Euro Truck Simulator 2, we all eagerly waiting! If you lack the means financial vehicles, I propose to launch a donation campaign! It is not very professional, sure, but you could raise more money to pay overtime in addition to your staff or to hire other people to finish ETS 2.

Nice but i am keeping my money in my pockets until the release of ETS2 .
ReplyDeleteI wasted money on T&T and this seems more of the same . I do not want another stupid parking game even if it has a free roaming game attached . With ETS2 only 3 months away your time and efforts should have gone into that to improve that . You have put it back and back so you must still be able to afford to make it so i will wait until ETS2 is released and pass on buying this .
I think they will use some of the money to make even better games :).

I hate marios maps they are huge ugly and BORING! cos most is only copy of default map, I'm a perfectionist I'm addicted to details! If I could create maps would be beautiful I believe that I am talented but that is time killer and I have better work to do.

SCS sell all of theory games for a very affordable price, have some respect for an honest company and either keep your immature complaints to yourself., or directly with SCS, not the public.
No T&T was not brilliant it was a pile of crap and i sold it again within 2 days of buying it as it was that boring and repetative .

Regardless what you felt about T&T, this does not detract from ETS2 but instead help not only fund it but also they can implement and then fine tune concepts that will be used in ETS2. If you read previous blog entries you can see that SCS mentions that money from this will go to ETS2, which is _the_ big project.

ReplyDeleteAs someone who used to run a website they get usually approx 300 posts per thread which will be approx 70 to 100 people max as a lot will double or triple post . Of those posting approx 75% may buy the game which makes 50 to 75 . those are not big sales figures consdiering the length of time it has taken to make ETS2 and makes me wonder if they will actually make a profit selling the game taking into account the niche market for this kind of game .
They may also try and make ETS2 a lot more expensive to buy than previous truck games which could also hit their sales figures

I agree, SCS got a reputation with their older, much worse games like ETS and UKTS. Just like Internet Explorer too. Many people thought IE 8's rubbish, so they won't download IE 9. They don't realise that it's MUCH better. Just like ETS 2.
DeleteMaybe in time team SCS will take the example set by other nieche simulator games (like Trainz) and make a download station with payable items, upgrade packs, individual 1:1 maps and multiplayer mode.
DeleteI'm sure they thought of it and timewise the development would take too long. So, for the moment we should be happy with the progress so far. By the way, the screens are amaizing, I just hope my 64bit laptop will cope with the performance requirements.
But these things take time and SCS team will get better at managing their products.

I think through their blog, their facebook and all social networks, I think they still hit a wider audience, and it was their goal.

According to them, T & T was a success, so why not ETS2 knowing that it is much expected that T & T. Hope this will be the case also for STDS.
In any case, I think their goal is not missed. And I hope a lot of sales for the upcoming games. Because they do a great job. And prosperity it deserves.

ReplyDeletePerfect! This game combines the skill and cleverness of Trucks & Trailers, with the realistic world of Euro Truck Simulator 2, and from what I saw in those photos that has multiple places to play, whether to enter a raft or a lumber mill through small villages.
ReplyDeleteI was intrigued in photos 4 and 6, as in photo 4, it seems that the container port and hit the yellow car in the car silver, and has in the photo 6, it was almost impossible not to touch that barrier, well at least at that angle.

ReplyDeleteReally, I don't understand this. You're some days away, or weeks, from the release, and still I don't see any pre-order links, and your official site still talks about Trucks and Trailers.
I had to Google for "preorder scania simulator". Also, I used an online shop I sometimes use, and trust (not posting the name just in case it's forbidden), and my pre-order is already placed.
But, seriously... what's going on? Do you really want people to buy this? Normal thing would be to have a blog post, and even some side-banners, dedicated to some online shops you already know host an item for your game and allow pre-ordering. Also, your official site should have a new item on top of T&T called "Scania Truck Simulator", with some "pre-order now!" stuff here and there.
You could even have a 20% discount special offer for pre-ordering before Xth of may, or whatever... would probably increase sales.
But no...nothing.
In any case, good luck with this, I really hope it helps in the development of ETS2 and any future projects.

DeleteThere's almost always difference between who develops a game and who in fact publish and sells it. And that publishing company - Rondomedia, Excalibur, Wendros, Comgad (or in past, Valusoft in the U.S.), is responsible for the release date, advertising and that stuff. SCS, as many other developers, can hardly do anything with that, except for blogging about their new game. Gamers often swear on SCS or other excellent, but small developer because of publisher's decision. But developers have no influence on everything.

@Michael: It's called pre-order precisely because you order it before release (which you can already do on some online sites). I guess I was not the only one that didn't know about this being available for pre-order until reading on the blog replies...
