Quite some effort recently is going into populating the Euro Trucks Simulator 2 world with road signs. This represents many man-weeks of grueling work. Creating the art and models is quick compared to actually placing the thousands and thousands of signs into the map - and then having to come back to make corrections again and again.
Unlike our previous games, we strive to have country-specific signs, the images below are from France.
very nice! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope that in France the AI will have france license plates...
so beautiful thanks

ReplyDeleteGREETINGS FROM ARGENTINA!
Release Date :

(Randomedia)
Looks fantastic, but please work some more on the steering and the physics of the truck. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat visual job, as usual! My only problem is again with the guard-rails, that is their huge amount. I do understand that major motorways and main roads must feature them, but their presence seems a bit overkilled in the pictures. About 2/3 of the pictures featuring highways and two-lane roads show guard-rails - believe me, the environment would look much more natural if there wouldn't be such visual barriers between nature and the player.
ReplyDeleteAgain, I can only mention Extreme Trucker 2 as an example: the amount of guard-rails was perfect in that installment, the "invisible walls" placed not far from the roadside did their job well. GTS also employed such invisible walls at several map locations, why can't you rely on them more? The environment would look better and less restrictive in my humble opinion.
Also: I hope you will find the time to reassure the community that you work on fixing the laggy steering... ;-)
Keep up the great work!
FYI: The "invisible walls" I talk about are not the "No Entry + arrows" signs in the cities and closed road sections. ;-) I mean the invisible walls placed on the road sides that prevent you to run into the bushes and trees when no guard-rails are inserted besides the roads.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, absolutely fantastic. (Standing ovation) Bravo! :-D Seriously, it looks so great that I can't stop watching.
ReplyDeleteThe work you showed here is awesome SCS!
ReplyDeleteWhen I see the enviroment and the roadsigns like this in France or wherever else I'm hauling in the virtual world of ETS2 I will be feeling in the designated country for sure!!
No matter how long it take to release the game if we will having this kinda work and professionalism inside :)
Good work guys, I think we can all say we're proud on you :)
http://virtualtrucking.webs.com/
^ You can bet on it. Absolutely proud. :-)
ReplyDeleteScs,
ReplyDeleteI rejoice every day with more news the game! It's getting perfect. Great job.
It would be nice each country has its highway patrol, with the colors of their cars right.
Keep up the great work!

Im in amazement on the hard work yall are putting in and how perfect it is!!!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, country spesific signs was something I was hoping for! :D
ReplyDeleteA good idea is to make more varied speed signs to, 120 km/h on motorways in some countries, 130 km/h in others etc :)
Tunnel sous la manche? (first pic)
ReplyDeletetrain tunnel to britain? manche is french for the channel between france and britain...
that sounds great!
Why there are cement roadblocks on intersection on the first picture? Road closed?
Greetings from Germany
Very good! But I have a doubt, with such good graphics that you post so many images, the game must weigh a bit on the computer, so if you can set modes to reduce the graphics to any computer, it would be great.

W00t, looks cool. Keep up the work SCS ;]
ReplyDeletenice work SCS we love you.
ReplyDeletebut we want to know also about the pc config thanks
Looking very good SCS. and I also see that the top 2 screenshots also include the new trailer models too. really looking forward to this one.
ReplyDeleteIs there baltic?
ReplyDeleteThat looks cool, Tell mee is there baltic, if is mi going to buy that game!
Fantastic images. Keep up the outstanding work SCS Software team.
ReplyDeleteGreat Work! But whats about first and second picture? On the first we can se sign "TUNNEL..." but if you drive from left or right its unable to se it. On the second picture is sign "METZ" 2 way/stream but u can drive only one.
ReplyDeleteReally nice improvements already. But I think you should try to make the shadows more blurry when they are further away from the object.
ReplyDeleteThis site is located in Turkish expression http://www.oyunmods.com/euro-truck-simulator-2-yeni-trafik-tabelalari
ReplyDeleteWonderfull ,keep it up!
ReplyDeleteMTCougar: look more carefully. There's a branching, it's only covered by tree branches. :-D One stream to Metz, one stream to Lyon. And third (most left) stream for opposite directioin. And about tunnel (first pic) - tunnel must not be visible from this point or it's more faraway - after all, it's direction sign.
ReplyDeleteGood work SCS. I love this game and doesn't matter when it's done! I want to be the greatest game ever! Btw, I see 5 cities just in France. It seems to be a big map. I love this game. Good work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteReally good scs team

Is it possible to change or there is the same for the whole map?
Best regards,

ReplyDeleteRelease Date : 10.01.2012
ReplyDelete:'(
Really a huge work.
ReplyDeleteMore pictures look and more I'am convinced that it will be unforgettable.
Do not lose your patience and good work.
bonjour SCS je trouve qu'il n'y a pas assez de voiture...dans le jeu ...il y a beaucoup plus de véhicule dans ce monde" les bouchon..les accident ils font songer
ReplyDeleteExcellent work, very nicely done! The scenery is becoming more realistic and more of a pleasure on the eye every day.
ReplyDeleteyeah thats good
ReplyDeletebetter work hard on physics.
Seems like all the effort is to make the game look pretty . i hope the playing side of it has been given as much attention as well. It doesnt matter how good a game looks if it plays badly or it does not keep the player interested then it will crash and burn and put people off any other games that follow
ReplyDeleteno offense but it kind of looks like driving simulator 2011 :(
ReplyDeletebesides that the signs look really nice.
hey scs software the euro truck simulator 2 job is great!!!!!!! Every day I check your blog to see latest posts.
ReplyDeleteI love the signs!!! And I can't wait to play it!!!!!!!! And
scs software I know that you are working very hard like 9
hours to make this wonderful game.
Wow! My hat's off to you! That's a lot of work and I'm sure you'll end up with something to be proud of! Good job!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you have improved the on and off ramps on the motorway exit and just hope that the rest are the same excellent work i must say it gives it a bit more realism.
ReplyDeleteyeah, good news, SCS
ReplyDeletethe main object in such game are the roads and their environment
Nice work scs keep working.....
ReplyDeleteThis the most realistic game when i ever see :D
Sorryon my bad english
Last picture,
ReplyDeleteStreet to Reims, Metz undriveable?
On the upcomming ramp there are these "Do not enter" roadblocks or do I see something wrong?
Good job but there are errors. There should be signs of pre-warning before every ride (even if it already) but not in height, on the low side (more realistic).
ReplyDeleteI notice the effort you made by putting the real name of highways, for it well done!
May need to change the texture of the pillar panel (too gray, and not reflective). And the sign for "Tunnel sous la manche", the green is too dark and too big in my opinion.
Otherwise, great job and thank you.
Greetings from France!
Looks fine.
ReplyDeleteGo on SCS.

@ Jonas, there's a simple reason for the invisible barriers, if they were to allow trucks to run off the road they need to do a whole lot more programming. Basically they first have to "solidify" the ground so the truck doesn't disappear into a white void, meaning more hardware resources required, plus collision logic with trees and whatnot, even more resources, requiring more time to program and which in the end would eat up a ton of processing power in what probably already is a graphic heavy game.
ReplyDeletereally amazing SCS! Its the same as in the real in France!
ReplyDeletemaybe (if you want), you can make some pictures of the Dutch and Belgium Traffic signs and matrix signs?
Greetz from Holland
Your work SCS is just so amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteSo there will be the Channel Tunnel on this map? Hopefully like it is in real life! (with terminals, customs...) OMG!!!! :D
ReplyDeleteGeneva is in ETS2? It's AMAZING! THANK YOU! :D
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I’m a female adrenaline junkie in a male dominated world too! Got my first taste for going fast earlier this year and haven’t looked back, dreaming of affording my own fast machine soon - I want to buy one where I got my first taste of speed!
