Here is a set of screenshots from T&T which reveals quite a bit about Euro Truck Simulator 2 actually. Both games share many assets, not just vehicles, but also elements from the world.
Awesome! Just awesome. Oh and for those of you who keep asking for Romania, Turkey, etc. maps, keep in mind that SCS would have to create all countries in between to keep it realistic which could take a long time.
can you make this compatible with the Logitech G27? using clutch features, shifter, and all of that good stuff? Also, have an option to make brakes more realistic when using a wheel. Like when you use the keyboard, the brakes don't skid. If you use a wheel, make it so that if you slam on the brakes you can skid, that way it's more realistic! Also, make the steering better, like so that the truck grips the road better, and so that when you turn, if you turn too sharp, you can tip your truck. Make sure there is a jake brake, air horns, wipers with 2 speeds, lights with 2 settings, and very realistic engine sounds and power. Like if you get permission from Scania, I want to hear a true Scania V-8! Also, include snow in the game, and include season changes (rain during warm season, and snow during cold season.) Use these tips wisely, and you'll have a true to life simulator, and that's what we Truck sim fans want right?

Now I understand everything! Hörbranzis is one of of the borders between Austria and Germany . Precisely in ATS or 1.32 update of GTS is missing this border. This border would be in the highway where was cut in Linz. In the game files at this residence address /prefab/border/ had two files, "de_at_1" and "de_at_3. " The de_at_2 file is Hörbranz's border. Now we know the file name (de-germany and at-austria) to each border will be build different.
Hello Salguero51, I do not quite understand what you mean. Can you explain a bit more detail if you like me? I do not understand the relationship between ETS 2 and GTS and Austrian TS.

It's nice, I'm looking forward to playing ETS2. I'm really happy because - as many people have said it before - you don't use those unified models throughout the map. This is great and it gives a real sense of differences between the countries, making the player feel that he or she is not at the same place after crossing the border. I also hope that you will soon make an American Truck Simulator in this realistic way. It'd be simply awesome. One day I had a new idea which might interest you about a new trucking game. It was some kind of a Vintage Truck Simulator. It could be set in the 40s or the 50s, either in America or in Europe. Both locations could be interesting. In America, we could see the U.S. when it was not that developed, and in Europe we could drive on either side of the Iron Curtain. We could only cross it with a special cargo. I think a game like that would be interesting in both the respects of trucking and history.

BTW I dream about similar game which described Tom here for years too. Some classic rigs from 40's - 50's era, Route 66 in golden days, Chevys on the road and rock'n'roll and so on - I think it could be "sexy" title... so maybe in future. :-)
I live in America, and it would be nice to see a more current game of my own country, but, SCS SOFTWARe, don't worry about that. Just keep working hard on Euro Truck Simulator 2, and Trucks and Trailers.
I agree. Just as long as you make an American truck simulator, I'll be pleased. You could try to get liscenses from Peterbilt, Freightliner, Kenworth, Western Star, Sterling, and possibly some volvos (as we have them driving around here.) I think either that, or make a game where you play in the 50's, with sleek looking trucks (a great time to implement some new customization features) like COEs and bubble nosed trucks. Also, make snow affect your driving more please! Have some snowy levels in trucks and trailers, and have snow in ETS2
I use to follow the blog everyday, although I don't post so often, so first I would like to say thanks for sharing all the pictures and giving information.
Second, I would like to say that I've been liking all I saw on these last days, starting with the Schmitz semitrailer, which made me really happy because right now I MUST install a semitrailer mod to enjoy ETS or GTS, because the default trailers are so... well... basic.
And now, after fighting a bit to install some ExtremeTrucker 2 mods, I come up with an idea about the system you use for mods. Maybe it's not too hard for you to develop, and it would be a GREAT improvement for all.
Instead of using the files on the "mod" folder as replacements for the base.scs files. Why don't you use some "add" scripting commands? Let me explain... if someone creates a new trailer, and wants it standalone, we install the mod with the default cargo file on the "mod" folder, but if someone creates another new trailer, have to edit the corresponding cargo file to add this second trailer. Maybe instead of installing the whole file, it could contain and instruction like: "add paris.tradeaux incoming.trailer37", "add paris.tradeaux outgoing.trailer37".
So basically, each mod would contain it's own specific instructions and the game would add them to the default one. A new cab? More of the same. Instead of adding some lines to an storage file, the modder would include a file telling the game to "add" this or that into the game configuration.
I hope you get my point and hope it's doable... some day.

Of course that article talks about individual parts of trucks, not about complete trucks or trailers, but it is obvious there will be some "add" function without need of overwriting and complicated management of files. So you're right, Katixa, this system could be extended (or maybe is already funcional) to add complete vehicles or anything else too.
How about using steam for a multiplayer engine and chat. I know the deadline is near but it would be cool to have seem chat and a mulitplayer to drive with other game users
Valve refused our submission of Trucks & Trailers for Steam. We do not even know why, they did not bother to explain it, but we assume they view it as a too niche game.

Love to see older truck series from the 1940s to the 1960s for American series along with the cars, buildings, sights, roads, music. Be nice to drive a big rig get 5 cent coffee at local cafe. Agree with the other posters about it
make sure there are different weather types and road conditions, and also shift patterns for a G27 or G25 with ranges and/or a splitter. More fun to use the real shifter than paddle shifters!
everybody keeps asking so many things just keep going as you are and its a very nice game and maybe its better to make the game as you are going to now and when its released make some patches so people can update there games and make it better that way

Thanks for the picture Mark, that just proved that SCS meticulously recreates real-world assets in-game, which is a fantastic sight for our eyes.
Anyway, I guess we can pretty much agree on the awesomeness of the graphics... But what about with actual gameplay? Devs, can you possibly share some details on it in the near future? I am especially interested in how you plan to reinforce the lasting appeal of the game, how you try to prevent the game becoming boring way too early.
I am asking this because I'd hate to see T&T bomb because of that - the basic premise (having a skill-based game with trucks) is really creative, and the only way it can go wrong is if you are unable to utilize the gameplay to its fullest extent. That can be done via a couple of relatively easy-to-implement gameplay features in my opinion: a level editor, a simple online leaderboard for comparing the players' points and time per level, or a hot-seat time trial mode (in which players try to beat their opponents' time and points in turns) would suffice in achieving this.
I hope you'll shed more light on actual gameplay features in the upcoming weeks. :)

But... uhm... that means at least original levels can't be editable (or maybe editable, but player can't join leaderboard). Well hope there will be editor as usual, so we can make own additional levels.
in german truck simulator/Uk truck sim etc, there were no police, you were just fined on the spot. nowadays, if police catch you speeding, they send you and email/ letter telling you the day the fine has to be paid. IN euro truck simulator 2, you can add this in, & let the player either pay the fine qucikly. online, and lose less reputation points than letting your fines stack up then later paying them.
German truck simulator & Uk truck simulator were excellent in detail. hope we can all say the same for ETS 2 or T&T also, why not change the time to 30 seconds in real life = 1 minute in game? much better imersion than 1 second= 1 minute

[1] 2 or 4 seasons: Summer & Winter [2] when a song plays - to be displayed in the LCD screen on the player from the interior of the truck [3] cars to not stop if i park near the road [4] to implement more roads from all over Europe, especially Transfagarasan road and touristic objectives from all over the countries from Europe & to integrate ROMANIA in MAP. [5] to integrate the possibility to see when the Calais arrives and when goes. [6] Sound improvement
Posibility to play this game online ..something similar like Need For Speed: World - Believe me, this can be a big BUM if you do it...behind the money you can earn, a lot of people will play this game is you make it something like Multiplayer, to integrate the posibility to talk and meet with other players due a journey ..etc. This game can have a lot of success if you know what to do.

Careful about the hights. In german truck simulator is a road sign too low and a big trailer can hit that sign. Hope you solved that somehow.

make sure there are different weather types and road conditions, and also shift patterns for a G27 or G25 with ranges and/or a splitter. More fun to use the real shifter than paddle shifters!
ReplyDeleteeverybody keeps asking so many things just keep going as you are and its a very nice game and maybe its better to make the game as you are going to now and when its released make some patches so people can update there games and make it better that way

Thanks for the picture Mark, that just proved that SCS meticulously recreates real-world assets in-game, which is a fantastic sight for our eyes.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I guess we can pretty much agree on the awesomeness of the graphics... But what about with actual gameplay? Devs, can you possibly share some details on it in the near future? I am especially interested in how you plan to reinforce the lasting appeal of the game, how you try to prevent the game becoming boring way too early.
I am asking this because I'd hate to see T&T bomb because of that - the basic premise (having a skill-based game with trucks) is really creative, and the only way it can go wrong is if you are unable to utilize the gameplay to its fullest extent. That can be done via a couple of relatively easy-to-implement gameplay features in my opinion: a level editor, a simple online leaderboard for comparing the players' points and time per level, or a hot-seat time trial mode (in which players try to beat their opponents' time and points in turns) would suffice in achieving this.
I hope you'll shed more light on actual gameplay features in the upcoming weeks. :)

ReplyDeleteJanos: you're right, but one thing you named is probably done: according to Rondomedia's website, leaderboard will be included in T&T. ;-)
ReplyDeleteBut... uhm... that means at least original levels can't be editable (or maybe editable, but player can't join leaderboard). Well hope there will be editor as usual, so we can make own additional levels.
Suggestion for ETS2:
ReplyDeletein german truck simulator/Uk truck sim etc, there were no police, you were just fined on the spot. nowadays, if police catch you speeding, they send you and email/ letter telling you the day the fine has to be paid.
IN euro truck simulator 2, you can add this in, & let the player either pay the fine qucikly.
online, and lose less reputation points than letting your fines stack up then later paying them.
German truck simulator & Uk truck simulator were excellent in detail. hope we can all say the same for ETS 2 or T&T
also, why not change the time to 30 seconds in real life = 1 minute in game? much better imersion than 1 second= 1 minute
I am like the screenshots, but can you tell us what is in Truck and Trailers?i.e.What Trucks will be included, so far we have only seen the scania, will there be others?Interiors, All left hand drive, or will there be some right hand drive?When is the release date?I am hoping that it is on or before the 29th of this month.In the UK we have a stupid Royal Wedding coming up and I need something to do, while this stupid wedding is on the TV.

Later, if you are already getting the ETS2 to be boring, it should be 70's years mod old European trucks. Would be very good.

It will be interesting to integrate this features:

[2] when a song plays - to be displayed in the LCD screen on the player from the interior of the truck
[3] cars to not stop if i park near the road
[4] to implement more roads from all over Europe, especially Transfagarasan road and touristic objectives from all over the countries from Europe & to integrate ROMANIA in MAP.
[5] to integrate the possibility to see when the Calais arrives and when goes.
[6] Sound improvement
Posibility to play this game online ..something similar like Need For Speed: World - Believe me, this can be a big BUM if you do it...behind the money you can earn, a lot of people will play this game is you make it something like Multiplayer, to integrate the posibility to talk and meet with other players due a journey ..etc.
This game can have a lot of success if you know what to do.
